The Art of Strategic Change

Hi, Guys!  I have a riddle for you!  🙂

What does a military strategist and a skilled NLP change worker have in common?  Answer:  A LOT!!

Here’s my goal in the work I do with clients:  strategic change, elegant change, fast change, helping clients get the most bang for the buck, finding the key strongholds of the problem, and taking them out in strategic, rapid fire sequence.  Using imagination, strategy, and fire power to win “the war” against the issue at hand.

My “strategic change” blitzkrieg is a different approach than  traditional “talk therapy” counselors.  They’re all about discussion, about rolling around in the muck, accentuating and revivifying negative thoughts and emotions over and over  and feeling bad.  Metaphor:  A counselor would want to figure out WHY an unwashed person smells so bad, uncover the origins and chemistry of body odor and what the person did to create it, whereas I would say:  You smell bad.  Take a shower.  And I’d show them the shower, and even turn it on for them.

Pig rolling in mud.
Let's TALK about it: Pig rolling in the mud.

Talk therapies:  It’s not about movement, and it’s not about change.  It would not be unusual for a person to see a counselor for YEARS on a particular issue.  To me, that’s absolutely ridiculous.  RIDICULOUS!   Unconscionable, really.  Is it about the money, about milking people for money?  There’s no way in hell change takes years.  It takes minutes.  That’s the firepower of NLP and hypnosis.

And I’m always working to increase my personal firepower!  To increase my arsenal of weaponry.  How?  I am continuously learning more, and becoming more and more skilled, mastering the work of hypnosis, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, conversational hypnosis, energy work, and more.   It’s a different focus than some hypnotists.

Some of my colleagues spend their money on marketing guys to help artificially pump up their web presence and SEO (Search engine optimization)–one guy pays someone else who is not even a hypnotist to write his blog and the posts are insipid!–you know where I spend my money?  On learning, on live trainings with the best of the best!  To become better at the work I do.  To me that’s massively more important and I believe leads to true and legitimate success.  My arsenal is knowledge and skill, not fluff and puff.

Another hypnotist friend of mine (and he’s wonderful and I love him) tells clients:  “it will require at least three sessions and possibly six before results start to show.”

Frankly, that’s not good enough for me.  No way.  I expect some level of positive results to show after a single session with me, and complete success on any specific issue in at MOST four sessions.  What happens though, is that an array of issues are interlinked (for example confidence and self esteem and weight loss), and all of that is sorted through in around four sessions.

One of my clients yesterday used this phrase describing his desire to quit smoking NOW:  He wanted  “One and Done!”  It’s not always possible to complete the work in a single session depending on the person and his situation, but in his case, we did that for him.  “One and Done!”  Many of my clients experience this!

Am I better than my friend who takes up to six sessions for a change to appear?  Apparently I’m more skilled.  And I know what makes the difference.  It’s the NLP.  Neuro-Linguistic Programming (my specialty) is what makes the difference.  It has been called “hypnosis on steroids.”  It’s faster than traditional hypnosis.  More powerful.  It’s the BIG GUNS in my arsenal for your strategic change.

I enjoy being a military strategist.  Every day is different, and every person is different, and I get to use my creativity and fire off the big guns.  Yay!  Take that smoking!  Blam!  Take that, overweight!  Blam!  Take that, fear!  Blam!  A talk therapist will not take the stronghold.  A hypnotist reading a script at you will not take the stronghold.  I can.  Let’s do it.

Warm Regards,
Connie

Aloha!

Hypnosis is as relaxing as Hawaii!
Hypnosis is as relaxing as Hawaii!

Aloha to my hypno-friends!  Michael and I took a rare vacation last week to somewhere I had never been:  Honululu, Hawaii.  Magical.  Lush.  Hypnotic.  Beautiful.  Water, water everywhere!

So relaxing!  Sitting on the beach, feeling the warmth, hearing the waves, just relaxing.  And, also in our case, sitting in a hot tub overlooking the ocean, bubbling away all cares and worries.  Deep relaxation.

You know what’s cool about a vacation?  You are accumulating experiences, wonderful states of mind and body that might be outside your repertoire of day to day hectic life.  And you know what else is cool?  You have continuing access to those experiences any time you want them.  And when you access them (that process has a fancy name:  it’s called memory), you get to live them all over again in your neurology, feel them all over again, in your body.  Relaxed lives in my memory of the hot tub afternoon in Waikiki.  Our minds and bodies are connected, really one cybernetic system.  You think about it, and you feel it.  Automatically.  Naturally.

That is the truth, and it’s also useful.  Because, with NLP and hypnosis, when you have a feeling you enjoy, you can capture it.  Bottle it, as it were.  And uncork that bottle at will, when it’s useful to have that feeling again.

This is called “anchoring,” and it’s the bread and butter of NLP, and hypnosis.  Finding useful states and bringing them into new situations where they help.  Where they change things.  Bringing calm into fear.  Goodbye fear.  Bringing energy into fatigue.  Goodbye fatigue.  Bringing creativity into stuck.  Goodbye stuck.  Bringing motivation into “I’ll do it later.”  Goodbye procrastination.  Bringing happy into depressed.  Goodbye depressed.  Sounds good, does it not?  And it’s SO EASY.  When the therapist has the artistry and skills to do the work well.  I do.

NLP is the real deal for life change.
NLP is the real deal for life change.

If you’re in a funk or stuck or sad or lazy or unmotivated — if you enjoy those states–revel in them!!  If you don’t enjoy those states, change them.  Skilled NLP makes it happen faster than anything else on this planet.  Find out.   Call me.  (425) 564-8608.  I’m Connie and I’m a Licensed Trainer of Neuro-Linguistic Programming ™ and that’s something very special.  There are only 38 Licensed Trainers of Neuro-Linguistic Programming in the entirety of the United States of America, and I’m one and my husband, Michael, is one.  Licensed through the co-originator of NLP, Dr. Richard Bandler.  I’ll change your state for you.   You want a taste of vacation level relaxed?  It’s in you, and we can access and also attach it to that stressful situation.  Goodbye stress.

If you love your stress, enjoy!  If you don’t, take a vacation from it.  Some people take permanent vacations.  It’s called retirement.  If you want to retire your stress and fear, and etc., let’s do it!

Warm Regards,
Connie

Stage Hypnosis – That’s Entertainment!

How many of you have ever seen a stage hypnosis show?  Did you wonder (as I did my first time experiencing hypnosis, which happened to be while watching a hypnosis show at the Puyallup Fair):  “What IS this???”  It’s called “stage hypnosis.”  It’s a show, or demonstration, for entertainment purposes, of the power of the human mind.  It’s fun.  Laughs.  Humor.  Amusement.  Amazement.  Did you ask yourself (as I did):  “Is it REAL??”

Yes!  It’s real!  These participants in the hypnosis are actually experiencing new realities.   For example, these new realities may involve differences in sensation.  As a hypnotic subject in a stage show, you may feel hot while imagining a warm beach, even though the room may be perfectly comfortable temperature.  You may experience differences in reality, like speaking a foreign language you have never learned.  Even Martian!  Differences in other sense experiences of the world, an onion may taste like an apple.  Differences in your identity.  You may begin singing and dancing believing yourself to be Elvis Presley.  What IS this?  It’s a freedom of expression and inner creativity.  In some cases, simply a license to act goofy.  How is the hypnotist MAKING the people do that?  They’re not.  The participants want to–they are volunteers!  It’s NOT mind control.

What does this have to do with hypnotherapy—the application of hypnosis to achieve positive changes in behavior and feeling and thinking?  It’s the same power of the mind.  The same power of the mind to create new realities.  Only, the changes are desired and useful, not silly, and good hypnotherapists make them stick.  Hypnosis.  It’s a GOOD thing!

Michael and I were in Las Vegas this past weekend, and we went to a stage hypnosis show.  And we enjoyed it!  The ones in Vegas tend to be adult humor, the ones you might see at the fair are family-oriented humor.  We love stage hypnosis.  In fact, we’ve both been trained professionally in stage hypnosis, as well as our other trainings.  In fact, we’ve both performed stage hypnosis–birthday parties and the like.  An understanding of the mind is useful, and all new information gathered is useful.  Learning stage hypnosis has made me a better hypnotist, adding to my skill set.

Some people think stage hypnosis is “bad” or less valuable.  Nope!!  Not at all.  It’s for a different purpose.  Laughter.  And it meets that well.  That’s entertainment!

Hypnotherapy is for life change.  Your positive changes in behaviors, thoughts, feelings to improve your quality and experience of your time on planet earth.  Stage hypnosis and hypnotherapy:  same animal, different saddle.

Fear is Gone and the Extra Pounds are Going.

Hi, Hypno-Friends.

Hypnosis is good for so many things, here’s an abbreviated list:

  • agoraphobia
  • anxiety/anxiety state
  • confidence boosting
  • depression
  • embarrassment
  • emotional pain/guilt
  • exam nerves
  • fear of flying
  • insomnia
  • interview nerves
  • migraine
  • motivation
  • memory and learning
  • nail and finger biting
  • nervous problems
  • nightmares
  • panic state, panic attacks
  • pain control
  • performance anxiety
  • phobias (all kinds)
  • public speaking
  • relationship problems
  • shyness
  • smoking
  • social anxiety
  • sports performance
  • stage fright
  • stress and related problems
  • weight loss

Sometimes a client will ask for my help with more than one issue.  One nice thing about how easy change is, it builds on itself.  Change one thing for the better and other positive changes begin rolling.  Here is a testimonial/business review I received today:

“I cannot thank Connie enough for the amazing Life Changing experience! I have sufferred from both a fear of heights and an ongoing, 50 year weight management problem. I have paid thousands of dollars to “talk” therapists, and emerged with some idea of why I had these problems, but NO idea of how to utilize that knowledge. In 3 sessions with Connie, who was extremely sensitive to my issues, I can now proudly say “Bring on your heights” and I have been losing between 15 and 20 effortless, happy pounds a month. My Life has totally changed for the better. Folks don’t even recognize me from the back! She is a REAL LIVE miracle worker. GG”

Yay!!

I love success stories.  Is it time for yours to begin?

Wam Regards,
Connie

“I don’t crave ice cream at all now. I am in shock!!!”

Hi, Hypno Friends!

I received some more feedback today, another happy testimonial from another happy client.  She had come in for help with weight loss.   Here’s what she had to say about her ice cream and chocolate cravings after experiencing a single session of Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy with me:

“I don’t crave ice cream at all now!  Or chocolate.  I am in shock!!!”  She goes on to explain how people around her are noticing the positive difference in her.  “I’m smiling all the time.  People think that I am in love!  But I am not!  Absolutely not in love, I just feel GREAT.  I believe that it’s the hypnosis!!” Saliha B., Issaquah, WA.

She’s right!  What I’m hoping people can learn from this is that hypnosis helps.  Not just in re-shaping and sculpting the body, but in changing your life.  When the positive changes start rolling, it affects everything, reaches fingers into everything.  It’s about changing your very experience of life, not only improving how you look, but improving how you feel, and how you think, and what you do all at the same time.  Improving your outlook, your energy, your confidence.  Your healthy and happy.  All good.

Saliha IS in love, by the way.  With herself.  That’s the difference.  When you feel good about yourself, you make better choices. We custom blended a new feeling for her, a mixture of confident, happy, optimistic and healthy.  Feeling that way changed everything for her.

Do you want a taste of happy like Saliha?  It’s so much more palatable than chocolate.  Hypnosis works for weight management.  Call me.  Connie:  (425) 564-8608.

Warm Regards,
Connie

Fish Phobia Gone Fishing – Forever!

Hello, hypno-friends!

I got another wonderful testimonial today.  I worked with a girl who had a terror of water and fish, beaches, and pools.  We did some hypnosis and NLP around that, and here is her report:

August 1st, 2011

Hi Connie,

It was a real pleasure working with you!  I Just came back from our vacation from Maui, we had an amazing time, and guess what, I was able to swim in the ocean, and we even went for a submarine tour to watch the fishes…I still can’t believe I did that…I just wanted to give you more update about my former fish phobia and that it (hypnosis) is working.

Warm Regards,

The Color of Happy

The color of your life should be happy.
The color of your life should be happy.

Hi, there!

My mom liked yellow.  Bright sunshine-y yellow.  She used it in her artist’s pallette, she decorated her home with it.  Our kitchen growing up–bright yellow.  Yellow curtains, yellow walls, yellow touches.  Warm.  Welcoming.  Love.  I like yellow, too.  🙂  She also liked rose color, and had in reality a pair of “rose colored glasses.”

When you think of happy, what color is it?  I like red.  Bright, vibrant, jewel tone red.  That’s excited and happy.

One of the things you learn in NLP, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, is that you can create more of what you want in your life and less of what you don’t want in your life by simply adjusting the representations of the world in your own mind.  Sounds easy.  (It is.)  Sounds simplistic.  (It is.)  But, guess what…it’s amazingly powerful and it works to make permanent and positive shifts in your life.  One of those possible adjustments in submodalities (as they’re called) of your internal representations is color.

When you identify a color that when you consider it, makes you feel happy, take that color and use it.  Use it like a wash of watercolor paint and splash it, overlay it on your internal visual of any situation that needs more happy in it.  If you have an internal picture which feels negative when you think of it, and the visual is dark, gloomy, full of rain clouds, pour in the sunshine.  If yellow is your happy color, fill the picture with a golden glow.  Imagine the light shifting in that image.  The quality of the light shifting.  The color shifting.  Your feelings shift as well.

Here’s another experiment!  🙂  If a problem is bright and vivid, take the color out of it.  Nullify it.  Take a tension headache.  Imagine a color for it.  Change the color.  Lessen its intensity.  Drain the color out of it.  Make it turn into opaque, crystalline, clear, fading, fading the color.  The discomfort fades, too.   Now, of course, I have to lay out a disclaimer.  I’m not medical and headaches may indicate a medical issue which may require medical treatment–see your doctor for headaches, especially if it’s unexplained, recurring or sustained.   But for a run of the mine head discomfort (I get that with caffeine withdrawal), play with the color experiment.

NLP is really amazing, and my clients are often amazed as well.  Their conscious minds are trying like mad to understand how it is that they feel so dramatically different (and better) so suddenly.  Improving confidence, reducing fear, reducing stress, removing cravings for nicotine and sugar and so on.  “How can it be so easy?”  It just is.  NLP has been called “hypnosis on steroids.”  Yes, it is.

If you want a taste of that, and help to add some new color to your life, call me.  It’s not just a new color, it’s new sound, feeling, taste, smell, and pictures.  It’s a new creation–called your life how you want it.  Better than Burger King’s “have it your way.”  You can, you know, have it your way.  Your life, that is.

Warm Regards,
Connie

PS:  That beautiful watercolor artwork there was painted by my mother, artist Francine Porad.  🙂

“I Feel Like I Can Do Anything”

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

I love it when my clients have success, and I also love to hear about it.  A successful weight loss client talked with me yesterday, months after we began our work.  Here’s what she says:

“It’s amazing.  I’m such a different person from who I was.  I’m happy, confident, very positive.  People around me are noticing and commenting.  Best of all, I’m not so hard on myself, I’ve learned to say nice things to myself.  I’m so much happier.  I feel like I can do anything.”  K.J., Renton, WA.

Hypnosis and NLP–which has been called “hypnosis on streroids”–they work!

Connie

Mindworks Hypnosis – AKA Wild Owl Central

Owl out my window.
Owl out my window.

Hi, Guys!

I have something very magical to share.  The wild owls came back, this time 3 of them.  Came back to the same tree a few feet outside my office window, where they enjoyed a picnic of raw rodents.  They are absolutely beautiful creatures.  The owls, not the rodents!  🙂  I took some pictures, and even a video, and I’m happy to share them.  Lunch time!

I have my own theories as to why, out of the hundreds upon hundreds of trees in the area where I have my office, the owls chose the tree and branch by my window.  I think it’s got something to do with “energy.”  As part of my Ericksonian hypnosis work, I tell stories and metaphors.  That very tree is the object of one of my metaphors.  For healthy, and thriving life, and positive energy.

I lavish positive energy on that tree every day, and I believe it “stuck.”  The tree is magificent, and if you remember, I told the story here on my blog (with photographic evidence) of how it bloomed before any other tree in the area.  Mere coincidence?

https://mindworkshypnosis.net/hypnotizer/?p=1375

That tree is special.  The owl knows that.  Feels that.

I love my owls.

The Twins
The Twins

Here are some pics.  They are lovely, mysterious, and beautiful.  I was holding a seminar in my office space this past weekend, and the owls came to visit, and participated.  During a hypnotic interlude, one owl did a dance for us.  I attempted to capture it on video, but the dance was done.  Owls have their own agenda!  Owl Nondance!

Drive Your Own Bus

NLP is the real deal for life change.
NLP is the real deal for life change.

Hi, Hypno-Friends, Enthusiasts, & Interested Parties!

There’s still a few seats available for Michael’s and my “Power of Mind” Workshop we’re offering.  It’s happening this Saturday, July 16.  More info:

https://mindworkshypnosis.net/hypnotizer/?p=1578

and http://www.seattlenlptraining.com

It’s a driving school.  Not about motor vehicles.  It’s about LIVES.  Your life! About running your life the way you want.  Taking control.  The King of NLP, and my teacher, Dr. Richard Bandler, calls learning and using NLP “Driving your own bus.”  Yes, I do.  Perhaps, you want to, too! 🙂

This powerful seminar/workshop focuses on using NLP for self development and life success.  NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) can be described as an amalgam of linguistics and hypnosis, and is based on the study of human excellence.  If it weren’t already taken, the slogan for NLP could be:  “Be all that you can be.”  Yes, you can.  We’ll help you, as you learn and experience powerful subconscious communication tools and techniques you can use immediately to increase personal satisfaction, self confidence, influence and power.  Eliminate undesirable habits!  Program in more useful ones.  Control your emotional states and more!

It’s not fluff.  It’s not hype.  It’s REAL.  The testimonials on my website (and there are dozens upon dozens) are because I incorporate NLP into my therapy work.  In one of the video testimonials we received, a woman says:  “Everyone should be required to learn this (NLP) at an early age.  It would make the world such a better place.”  I absolutely agree.

If you want in for a one-day workshop showcasing NLP and more about hypnosis in general, too…join us!  Remember that old airline slogan, “We love to fly, and it shows.”  Well, We love NLP, and it shows.

Warm Regards,
Connie & Michael

Aha!

My mother often had moments she called “Aha!” moments–when some insight was gleaned and something suddenly made sense to her, or shifted her thinking.  She turned these moments into poetry.  She was a poet, as well as an artist!  🙂

I just had an “Aha!” moment.   My “Aha!” moments turn into stories for my hypnosis clients, and blog entries!  Here it is.

I was on Facebook, which I enjoy, when I encountered an unexpected difficulty, an undesired “shift.” I was typing away, and out of the blue my computer keyboard screwed up, and began typing symbols instead of letters. I couldn’t “undo” that weirdness, the shift functionality was ON and I couldn’t figure out how to turn it off, and couldn’t finish and “publish” my thought for Facebook. What’s going on? I wondered, what strange combination of function keys did I accidentally touch and activate??

I tried hitting several varieties of keys to undo the problem, alt/caps lock, function number keys, etc. Nothing. It kept with the goofy symbols instead of writing. Then I noticed, there was a crumb, a hardened crumb, somehow wedged in the side of the “shift” key, holding it down.

I brushed it off, and everything worked perfectly again.  Sometimes the best solutions are the easiest, straightforward, and overlooked.

That’s right!  🙂

Warm Regards,
Connie

This morning when Michael and I were admiring his wallet and the contents therein, I noticed this:  a $20 bill with intense red lettering on the front:  “Splurge, Princess, Splurge!”    I said:  “That’s for me!” and I grabbed it.  (With Michael’s permission, of course.)  🙂  Immediately, questions and possible stories filled my mind.

How old was the Princess who was presented with this gift?   Who was it from?  Was it a single $20 bill or a stack of 20’s and/or other denominations as well?  What was the gift-giving occasion?  I conjured this:  a little girl, aged 8 or so, given a no-occasion gift of $20 by her loving dad.

There’s clearly a story here!  What it is, we’ll never know, unless someone reads this and recognizes the writing, and tells me.  This is more than a story about a $20 bill, however.  It’s also a story about the mind and how it functions.

It doesn’t end with the Princess and her gift.  Between waking and work (about an hour) I was presented with at least 4 more “princess” messages–out of the blue.  I turned on my computer to check my email as I do every morning, and there was a story about the upcoming royal wedding and Princess Diana’s legacy…a princess-to-be and a real princess, Ok.  That’s 2, or 3 depending on how you count.  (I didn’t read the story.)  Then I got dressed, and remembered that my shoes are “princess” reboks.  4.  And then the next one.  I got in the car, and immediately noticed the truck parked next to me and it’s large sign bolted on where the license plate should be.  It read:  “I’m the PRINCESS – That’s why!”  5.  Five Princess references in a just a few minutes–forcing themselves into my conscious awareness.

It must mean something.

One more time, with emphasis!
One more time, with emphasis!

I told the story before of how the universe gave me a message to get a new office space.  I heard, and I obeyed, and I’m massively happy as a result.  I wrote about the unconscious mind as a meaning-seeking device, making order out of chaos.  What does the universe want me to know and/or do now regarding “Splurge, Princess, Splurge!”?   Is it randomness and coincidence?  Or is it synchronicity, and serendipity making sense of out chaos?!  I choose to believe it’s the latter!

We all have something called “The Reticular Activating System” inside us, inside our brains.  Basically, when it turns on, we notice things in our environment that are important to us, and give them an added level of attention.  That’s a wonderful survival skill!  🙂  For example, we notice where in relation to our cave that the sabertooth tigers hang out, and we’re careful and watchful in those areas.  I had a very active reticular activating system around spiders, for the decades of my spider phobia.  Hubby called it “bug radar.”

Today, my reticular activating system got “activated” again, with a new noticing, a princessly noticing.  As I was driving this morning, I found myself scanning every word, every sign, every piece of lettering and license plate number for meaning with a new intensity, to see how it fits or clarifies “Splurge, Princess, Splurge!”  Nothing yet!  But I’ll let you know, as I trust my unconscious mind to have noticed this and brought it into conscious awareness for a positive reason.  Any ideas or inspirations?  Share!

Warm Regards,
Connie

Shifting Reality

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

This is pretty mind-boggling.  🙂  Look at this picture:

Clockwise or Counter-Clockwise?
Clockwise or Counter-Clockwise?
Is it spinning in a clockwise motion, or is it spinning counter-clockwise?  Once you have identified the spin, reverse it.  Just look at it, imagine it’s motion in the opposite direction, and voila!  It happens.  The direction of spin is reversed.  You didn’t know your mind was so powerful, did you?  (I did know.)  🙂

A thing is a thing. Or is it? The way we see it, well, that’s up for grabs.  Spin your perceptions in a way that makes your life better!  It’s all under your control.  How interesting would it be to you if your problems became absolute non-problems?  For example, if desire to smoke became “Who cares?”  If lunch shifted from “I must eat cookies” to I’d rather eat a spinach salad.  If the couch and a box of donuts shifted into “I’m getting my butt into the gym!”  If fear of public speaking became calm and confident and articulate.    Here’s what I know to be true:  change your perception/thinking about things and you change everything.

Want to learn how?  That’s where hypnosis comes in.  Hypnosis and NLP.  Neuro-Linguistic Programming.  Change how you think and you change how you feel, and you change how you interact in the world.

The mind is powerful.  YOUR mind is powerful.  Let’s use it for life improvements and more success and fun.  I’m game.  Are you?

Warm Regards,
Connie

The Magic of Positive Energy

Fresh, healthy, new life!
Fresh, healthy, new life!

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

I invite you to check out this tree!  I took this photo today, it’s of the tree right outside my office window.  I look at it every day and I admire it’s lush, fresh, new and unfurling green leaves.  New life!  Spring time to get blooming!  It’s beautiful.

These trees outside my window are my visual aides to story-telling as I engage in what is known as Ericksonian Hypnosis.  Part of the hypnosis work I do:  I tell stories, use metaphors, imagery, indirect language to suggest direct change.  I love nature imagery.  As I work with hypnosis clients, I often talk about trees–this tree outside my window in particular.  I emphasize how natural change is for trees, how easy it is to let go of that which is no longer needed, how easy to embrace fresh new healthy life, the long-haul surviver and thriver qualities of trees.  They grow more beautiful and stronger every day.  As I tell these stories to my clients in trance, I am also focusing energy on the trees outside my window, and lavishing them as well with this “grow healthy” patter.

Guess what!?  It works!  This tree is evidence of thriving!  This tree is amazingly greener, more alive and blooming than any of the other trees (of the same kind) that surround my office building.

Here is precisely what those other trees look like.  More like winter trees.  Spring has not sprung inside this tree yet.

Same day, same kind of tree, same area.
Same day, same kind of tree, same area.

That’s right!  Kind of gray, kind of barren.  What do you think?  Could the focused waves of positive and healing energy emanating from my office and directed at the nearest tree time and time again really be affecting it and causing it to grow and bloom more powerfully than the other nearby trees?  It looks that way to me.  🙂  And it reminds me of a study I read, about the power of emotion to affect water and crystals.  It’s called “The Hidden Messages in Water” by Masaru Emoto.

I KNOW that with my clients healing happens in my office daily, and new fresh possibilities are installed as I tell stories about and I focus positive energy on my trees.  I just never suspected that the trees themselves would benefit.

What do you think?  Why is “my” tree thriving more than any other at the Alderwood Building?  Look at these pics, taken today, and decide for yourself!  🙂

Warm Regards,
Connie

Mom was right!

Hi! My mother died right at the time when I was first beginning my hypnosis training, and she was pleased that I was learning something fascinating and creative and useful. She had an interest in it, as well. Years and years ago she had gone to a past life recall workshop, and came home with many conscious stories of “previous lives.” She told me about many of them, and concluded with this: “THIS is my good life.” Mine, too.

The unconscious mind is fascinating. It does record life experience. Here’s evidence: I found my missing costco check. I found a lost silver necklace. Lost from conscious knowing, but not really “lost” from memory. Here’s that blog story:
https://mindworkshypnosis.net/hypnotizer/?p=847

In some of the healing work I do with clients we go back in time to earlier forgotten life experiences. I’ll be talking to a woman (in trance) about the first time she felt some specific unpleasant and unwarranted negative emotion, and she’ll tell me of her experience. Well, she’s an 8 year old boy and she’s standing with the cows by the castle. This memory is outside of her conscious “this life” experience. It’s from before. I don’t judge that. I don’t decide if it’s “real” or not. I just help the person heal the situation and grow up through their life feeling better and more resourceful. For the here and now. And tomorrow.

Because I agree with mom. This is the life that counts. This is my good life, my best life. Make it yours, too.

Warm Regards,
Connie

The best time of your life is now.

The best time of your life is now.

We all have “plans.”  Plans for the future.  Grand schemes.  And that’s terrific.  We all have a past.  Yesterday, last week, last year.  Five years old.  And that’s terrific, too.  People think about those things, sometimes too much.  To the neglect of today.  Right now.

What are you doing right now?  Besides reading my blog…  What is the state of your mind and body?   Is there joy, is there fun, is there passion?  Is there motivation?  Is there happy?  Are you smelling the spring roses?   Are you LIVING, or are you waiting?  Are you living, or are you remembering?

Don’t wait to remember that right now is an important time of your life, too.  Right now, this instant.  If you’re not enjoying fully the state of your mind and body and experience of life at this moment, know this:  you can change it.  Easier and quicker than you think.

And, as I explain to every client who enters my office door, when you change how you feel, you change how you think, and you change what you DO.   It’s seamless.   If you want to feel something different, right now, not ten years down the road, if you want to see life differently, if you’re ready to hear new  and improved thoughts in your own head, and DO life differently in a way that makes more good feelings flow, hypnosis and NLP is a tool for you.  Experience it.  The best time of your life is right now.

I know that’s true.  Do you?

Warm Regards,
Connie

Everyone talks about New Year’s Resolutions!  Well, New Year’s has come and gone, and perhaps you have not yet achieved your weight management goals.  I can help!  That’s right, perhaps it’s time for a new Spring Resolution.  🙂

I help people with my Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy with ALL the issues surrounding weight loss and healthy eating habits.  I’ve lived this story.  And here I am, lighter and happy at the success side of this.  I know all about it.

Hypnosis works!  For motivation, and increasing the desire to exercise, freedom from cravings, freedom from junk food, getting in tune with your body’s needs, eliminating that negative self talk, and more.  It’s about installing healthy choices, naturally, on a UNconscious level.  This makes new healthy behaviors and thoughts and feelings so natural that you forget you ever had a problem.  How amazing would that be?

You can find out.  Call me!  I’ve also got a website which focuses on my work with weight management:  it’s here

Someday Never Comes

“Someday.”  What a wishy-washy weasel-y, weak word.   Be wary of this word coming out of your own mouths or pens–because here’s what it really means:  never.  “Someday” is married to “I can’t.”  They live unhappily ever after.

Movement forward is a good thing, in my model of the world.  What I sell is movement, and change.  Belief change, behavioral change.  Life change.  Useful and desired and WONDERFUL change.  “Someday” is a holding in place word, not a movement word.  “Do it!”  “Doing it!”   that’s movement.  Someday…I’ll  quit smoking.  Someday…I’ll get my body in shape.  Someday…blah blah blah.  Someday never comes.

I love my teachers.  One in particular, Dr. Richard Bandler, the co-creator of Neuro-Linguistic Programming™.  Yesterday was his birthday.  He got literally hundreds of well wishes from fans and friends across the globe on his Facebook page.  One girl wrote to him:  “I will take one of your trainings and meet you someday.”  I’m sure he was underwhelmed by that.  I would be.  It means “never.”

When I took Design Human Engineering™ with Richard and his co-trainer, John LaValle, last year, here’s one of the ideas that got well installed:  “Just f****** do it!!”  It being movement towards a well formed outcome, a goal, what you want in life.  I hear John’s voice in my ear often, propelling me forward.  I’ll have to thank him again for that!  🙂

My favorite songwriter, Smokey Robinson, said the same thing in a softer way in the lyrics of one of his best songs (More Love):  “Let it be soon.  Don’t hesitate.  Make it now.  Don’t wait…”

To me it’s so simple.  If you want something (sufficiently), you do it.  You make it happen.  I don’t “do” someday.  Why would anyone?  Why not shift “someday” into “now?”

Warm Regards,
Connie

NLP Explained – What is Neuro-Linguistic Programming and how will it help me change my life? (Easily!)

Here’s another video! (I’m just a video makin’ machine today!!) 🙂

To experience life change with this methodology:
http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net.

To learn this life-changing methodology:
http://www.seattlenlptraining.com

NLP is a conversational, high-tech hypnosis…the most powerful change tool on earth.  It’s also been called “hypnosis on steroids.”  Absolutely.  This is the primary thing which has reshaped by body (minus 75+ pounds) and my life.  Do you think I’d have been comfortable and confident enough before NLP to make a video such as the above and chat to the world?  No way, Jose.  Do you think I’d be running my own businesses?  Perhaps, but I doubt as successfully.

NLP is a set of tools for life success.  This is what sets me above other hypnotherapists’ level of success–my NLP.  There are Practitioners of NLP, there are Master Practitioners of NLP, and beyond that level of skill, there are Trainers of NLP.   I’m a Licensed Trainer of NLP ™.  And, when you come to my office, what you’re going to receive is neuro-linguistic hypnotherapy.  In my estimation, the power of this blend and the postive changes achieved through this exceeds anything else I’ve ever heard of or experienced on earth.  I’d love it if you’d let me prove it to you.

Warm Regards,
Connie

More Truth About Hypnosis – Is it Sleep?

Hi, Guys!  Here is more truth about hypnosis. It’s NOT sleep. You may snore in hypnosis, you may drool, your body may be massively relaxed, but it’s not sleep. It’s a different state of mind/body, with different brainwave patterns. You go into hypnosis every day of your life, including on your way into and out of sleep. Learn more here: http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net/faq.html

Here’s me, talking about this!

Here’s more about the brainwave patterns themselves:

Stay tuned!  I’m editing several more educational (More Truth About Hypnosis) short videos.  They’ll also be available on youtube.  Here is my page there:

Feel Good Spin

Here is another video demonstrating the transformational power of hypnosis.

My mom was an artist.  Water color, oils, mixed media… realistic work, abstracts, she was massively creative.   She created many series of her artwork, including one I particularly love.  She called it:  “Loving the Spin I’m In.”  I have several pieces from that series on the walls in my office.

Mom art SpinShe was right.  It’s all a spin of our own creation.  She chose one that she loved.  Me, too.

If you’re sick of the negative spin of your thinking and feeling, choose something different.  Now.  It’s so easy…with the tool of hypnosis.

Warm Regards,
Connie

Expand the Boundaries of Your Thinking.

Michael and I made a couple new videos tonight.  Here’s one.  I call this a “magic moment.”  It illustrates hypnosis without being about hypnosis.  🙂  Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to think outside the box.  Hypnosis allow you the ability to do just that, and create workable solutions to life’s challenges and dilemmas.

“Where are the Tomatoes?”

I have these VERY comfortable black leather Rebok shoes I love to wear.  They are a happy medium, satisfying both my desires for a nice look and comfort.  They’re basically dressy tennis shoes, and they have laces.  I’ve never had trouble with those laces.  Until recently!

Recently, they come undone.   All by themselves.  Frequently.  It’s pretty weird, actually.  One of my clients commented on it, told me that it’s because my shoelaces are just so RELAXED.  Loose.  Nice idea!  That is a state of being often elicited around me.  🙂

The shoes remind me of a story of my little neighbor kid, who lived across the street when I was growing up.  He liked to wander over into our yard and look at my dad’s tomato plants.  (My dad grew the BEST tomatoes!)  🙂  Nosy kid.  He had this idea that full-blown, grown tomatoes should pop up overnight.  He’d come over and stare at the garden the day after my dad planted and ask:  “Where are the tomatoes??”  I guess in his model of the world, that plant “didn’t work.”

What if that plant is actually growing gangbusters, under the surface?  What if the nicest, freshest, beautiful crop of tomatoes is forming, and will emerge soon?

Sometimes my hypnosis clients demonstrate a similar “all right now or it’s nothing” attitude when they come in.  (They don’t get to keep it.)  If it isn’t immediate and obvious 1000% success, “it didn’t work.”  It being hypnosis.  One smoker client reduced a pack and a half a day habit down to 3 cigarettes in a week, and reported:  “I didn’t smoke in the car, I didn’t smoke at work, I didn’t smoke in the morning, I felt no urge to, but then my mother-in-law called and you know, I had to have a cigarette.  It didn’t work!”  Yes, it did.  And it IS working.  It’s a process of change.  IT is not a finite thing, it grows and evolves, like a tomato plant.

Shoelaces.  That “all or nothing” attitude would entail an awful lot of money spent on shoes.  Your shoelace comes untied.  “The shoe didn’t work.”  Better toss that shoe away.   Get some different ones.   Doesn’t matter if they’re custom-made exquisite Italian leather, they didn’t work.  They’re untied.

Wouldn’t it be easier to simply re-tie them and carry on walking?

The antidote to “all or nothing” is what I call a recovery strategy–and it’s something we install with hypnosis.  So you don’t give up prematurely, as change grows.  And you don’t let setbacks stop you.  You don’t toss away the shoes, berate the shoes as defective or non useful, you simply re-tie them.  And carry on.  So it is, with hypnosis.  Some change is instantaneous, BOOM! Like flicking on a light switch.  Other change evolves over time, like a light on a dial control getting brighter and brighter and brighter.  Both things happen.  I’ve decided to cut my Reboks some slack.  They still work.  I just tie them and get on with it!

Warm Regards,
Connie

I Want the World to Know

Connie's New Ad for "Body & More"
Connie's New Ad for "Body & More"

Hi, Hypno-Friends,

I’ve got lots of decor in my office.  One of my favorite pieces is a wood block word:  “BELIEVE” silhouetted against the window.  Next to it is an accordian sign which reads: “You can change the world.”  I do believe!  Yes, one mind at a time.

One of my goals as a professional hypnotist is to battle the myths and misconceptions which abound out in the world about hypnosis.  That’s what “World Hypnotism Day” was all about.  Sharing the truth about hypnosis.  Every person I hypnotize gets a much clearer picture of what hypnosis is, what it does, how it works, how it feels, what’s it useful for.  And so on.

Because I believe so passionately in hypnosis as a force for good in the world–I want to share that message.  What a bum rap hypnosis gets from Hollyweird.  How underutilized and under-appreciated this magic is.  It’s the magic of your mind to create positive change.  And it’s MASSIVE magic.  It’s you.

One of the ways I get the word out about hypnosis is through advertising.  Here’s my latest ad which will appear next week in the Bellevue Reporter.  I think it’s GOOD!  I worked with the “creative staff” at the Bellevue Reporter to put this together.  I don’t look like the devil with horns or three eyes or bizarre or woo woo, do I?

I grew up around here (Seattle), born here.  And I’m actually quite pleased with the acceptance of hypnosis in this community.  There are many, many thriving hypnotists and hypnotherapists around about.  And that’s good.  However, I have friends around the country and world who also do this work, and it’s not the same acceptance everywhere.  Yay, Seattle!

To keep that good vibe around hypnosis flowing, I’m shouting about it from the rooftops.  The Bellevue Reporter’s Feb 18th publication “Body & More” is my next rooftop.  I also shout from Bellevue College, my own seminars, my groups, on the internet, to my friends, my family.  I want everyone to know.  Hypnosis works!  Soooo fantastically amazingly well.  For so much.  Check out my ad next week, and other suppliers of tools for healthier, happier lives.

Warm Regards,
Connie

Just in Time for Valentine’s: Feel the Love, or…Effective Relating

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

I want to share something personal, and wonderful.  A milestone.  Michael and I have been married 25 years this month!  To celebrate, we took an extended weekend getaway, to Las Vegas, just the two of us!  And we renewed our vows to each other–signing up for the NEXT 25 years of happy love!  🙂  I do!  We did!

Here are some pictures from our Vegas adventure.  I’ve always wanted a Las Vegas Wedding, so this trip, we did it.  We found a chapel, and we did it!  For fun, we dressed up glittery, me in sequins, and Michael in velvet, and we found an “Elvis” to sing and officiate.  It was SO MUCH FUN!!

25th Wedding Anniversary

Love is very much a reason to celebrate.  Committed, ongoing, growing love…even more so.  Everyone we met kept repeating “25 years!  Wow!!  That’s amazing!! What’s your secret?”

I’ll tell you!

Successful relationships are all about relating (an action verb, not a stagnant THING, but a continuing evolution), and communicating.  Effectively!  Communicating what you want in a way that moves you towards your outcomes.  And maintaining appropriate emotional states which support those communications and outcomes, as well.  (In a significant-other context, it’s remembering and re-connecting with why you’re together and in love.)  Lots of people have trouble in this area, apparently.

Well, guess what?  Hypnosis works, for this as well as for so many other things.  A good relationship, be it professional or personal, group-sized social interactions, or intimacy, it’s not luck.  It’s learning, and it’s choice.  I help people in their relating, all the time, helping with everything from sexual intimacy issues to anger to insecurity and more.   How do you want to be, how do you want to feel, how do you want to relate differently than what may be the present state of affairs?

I can help.  NLP and hypnosis are excellent tools for this.

This is kind of like my weight loss success story.  I walk the talk.  I know what makes a successful, fulfilling relationship.  I’m living it!  I wouldn’t trust a therapist or counselor who has been 2-times divorced and couldn’t develop or maintain a loving, long-term relationship to save their life.  You want THAT to guide you for healthy relating?  I wouldn’t.  Pick someone who is successful, and happy.  Someone who lives love and doesn’t secretly sneer at it as a pipe dream, and can help you craft yourself into effective relating states.  I know how.  Belief, and success, I’ve got both.  So can you.

If you’d like help with relating, call me  (425) 564-8608.  What a wonderful Valentine’s gift for you and your sweetie.

Warm Regards,
Connie

AND…if you register early (you can also just show up without registering) you get something else.  A free DVD to the first 50 registrants.  It’s jam-packed full of information about hypnosis, written information, audio information, and video.  The DVD includes amazing movie clips of Michael demonstrating hypnotic phenomenon.  He got a girl to “forget” the number 3 and how to count, and also to forget her own NAME!!!!   (Of course, he also returned those memories to her.)  This is real.  The power of the mind is amazing.  Just watch!

I do hope you’ll come and “Get to Know Hypnosis.”  Hypnosis is worth knowing.

Warmest  Regards,
Connie

Learn more about hypnosis!

Hi, Guys! I’m a member of the NGHWA, that’s the National Guild of Hypnotists, Washington State Chapter.  We’re the local chapter of the NGH, a national professional organization of hypnotists and hypno-therapists.  It’s the oldest and most prestigious hypnosis organization in the United States. We are dedicated to furthering the understanding and acceptance of hypnotism as a healing tool.  I’m all for that!!

The NGH has created a worldwide event, called World Hypnotism Day, which happens in January.  My chapter is a part of that, and I’m a part of it as well.  I’ll be giving two, possibly three talks at our local “doings.”  🙂  One is absolutely FREE to all, and it’s on the topic of HYPNOSIS FOR WEIGHT LOSS.  (You know I know whereof I speak on this topic, I’m living that success!)  I’m also giving a paid talk/training to area professional hypnotists as part of this event–to enhance their skill sets in this same area, helping people to let go of weight with hypnosis.  There are several speakers, and several talks and experiential workshops.  Who wants to come down, learn more, and get hypnotized?  There’s also a complimentary continental breakfast for attendees, prizes, and a free comedy hypnosis show.

Learn more about our group’s event and register for it here:   http://www.nghwa.org/World-Hypnotism-Day-2011.html

I do hope you’ll join us.  It will be masses of fun for those interested in learning more about hypnosis, experiencing some hypnosis, and hobnobbing with hypnotists.  It’s Saturday, January 22nd.  10:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Stay for one talk, two, more, or stay the whole day.  Your choice!  We’d love to have you attend!

Warm Regards,
Connie

New Year’s Resolve

Happy 2011 To You!

Happy New Year!   Are you making some wonderful New Year’s Resolutions for 2011 for your health and success and prosperity?  I am!

Yes, I’ve been thinking about New Year’s Resolutions.  And the word “resolve.”  What does it really mean?   If you’re sort of wanting something, thinking about it, but doing little or nothing to achieve it, that equals a lack of resolve.   “Gee, that would be nice someday, but…”  If you’re half-heartedly doing something towards a goal for only  a day or two or three and then the desire drifts away, that’s a wishy-washy resolve.  Like a slap with a wet noodle–not much power in it.   I believe that half-hearted  determination is what most people bring to their New Year’s Resolve.  And that’s sad.

However, it doesn’t have to be that way!!  🙂  If weak resolve is not good enough for you, read on!  Hypnosis helps you create something absolutely different.  Hypnosis reaches into your inner workings and finds, reinforces and activates true resolve.  True resolve is a whole-hearted affair.  Heart and mind and body affair–every nerve and fiber of your being saying:  “YES, I’m going for it!!!”   Resolve and determination…think Rocky preparing for his big fight, eating raw eggs, and working out, running up those monument steps, triumphant (in advance) and focusing all his attention and actions on achieving his goal.

That’s real resolve.   It’s power, because you KNOW you’re going to get what you want and nothing and no one can deter you.  You do everything within your power and energy and creativity, with passion and motivation, to achieve it, that worthy outcome you desire.

Resolve is also a visual term.  When things come into focus, they resolve.  The blur resolves into a clear image.  When you resolve to do something, your goal is FOCUSED.  Sharp, sharp, sharp.  Clear.  Unmistakable.  How would you like to be sharply focused and motivated and moving on your goals with true resolve?  Yes, me, too.

Hypnosis, baby!  If your New Year’s desires already have the force of a pure and clear RESOLUTION,  yay!   I applaud you!  Go for it.  However, if you find that clarity of desire unfocused, or the resolve is not there to give you that OOMPH, that go for it power of actual sustained movement forward, then hypnosis is a tool to help you do just that.

It doesn’t matter WHAT you are resolving to do, hypnosis can give you that directed focus and acceleration, like stepping on the gas pedal in your car.  You select the destination, hypnosis is both the GPS  (how to get there) and the thrust forward of stepping on the gas.  Resolve.  Rocky was hypnotized.  He hypnotized himself into power.  We are all capable of this, but it’s a heck of a lot easier to have a professional communicator help it to happen faster and more easily.

Personally, I think it would be a massively wonderful gift to give yourself for the new year: a super powerful  hypnotic dose of accelerant for your goals, whatever they may be.  Quitting tobacco once and for all, getting in shape, finishing that project, beginning that project, whatever you’re resolving within yourself to do and be for 2011 and beyond.  The difference:  with hypnosis, the resolve STICKS, long and strong enough to get what you want.  How cool is that?

Resolve to make 2011 your best year ever, and begin to realize the control you do have over your life.  Over your actions, your habits, your very thoughts.

Warmest  Regards,
Connie

Hypnosis Expands the Boundaries of Your Thinking

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

Michael and I had some fun today, filming what we call “magic moments.”  They’re not hypnosis, per se, but they’re entertaining and they do illustrate something about hypnosis.  Watch this video carefully, and follow the directions to see something totally amazing!  You really do grow your brain with hypnosis, grow your resourcefulness, grow your joy, grow your life success.

Put a New Frame on it!

A problem is simply a frame of mind, a way of looking at things.  If it’s not a problem to YOU, it’s not a problem.  Think about flying on an airplane.  After all the hustle/bustle of travel arrangements, packing, airports, and etc. when I get on a plane, I settle into the seat and go:  “ahhhhhhhhh.”  Now it’s time to relax.  No worries.   All I have to do is sit here and enjoy myself.  Perhaps for someone else sitting down a few rows,  it’s churning turmoil inside, it’s white-knuckle time.  It’s visions of disaster.  It doesn’t have to be.  You can change your mind.  And experience life differently.  Yes, about flying, and pretty much about ANYTHING!  That’s what hypnosis can do!  It’s called “reframing.”

Perhaps you’re skeptical about those statements.   Here’s a few recent examples of reframing from my life, for further illustration.

I got caught up in the shopping frenzy last week.  My husband and I were at the mall, and I found a shirt I loved.  The color in particular was appealing to me.  Hypnotists have an “inside joke” about the color purple being hypnotic, because one of the most famous and successful hypnotists in the world, Milton Erickson, was fond of wearing bright purple jumpsuits.  Color analysis books describe purple as the dreamer color.

I found a purple shirt.  Not just any old purple, this was a rich, deep royal purple, a magically hypnotic jewel-tone purple.  I was excited to find it, and on sale!  🙂  As I was checking out at the department store, the clerk commented on the “grape” shirt.  Grape?  Yikes.  I almost put it back.  I don’t want a grape shirt, as that sounds utterly unappealing.  Purple, yes.  Grape, forget about it!  One word flipped my state of mind about the shirt, and not in a good way.  She reframed my shirt (negatively) and almost lost the sale.  This is something we teach in our NLP for Sales courses, how to reframe in a way that sells, not creates aversion.

Here’s another example of reframing.  This is a sign.

Crosswalk Sign

Perhaps you’re familiar with it.  It indicates a pedestrian crosswalk.  It’s a stylized guy crossing the street.  You can see that.

Here is a sign I saw today in a parking garage.

Pedestrian Crossing

They’ve shifted the sign slightly, and the meaning massively.  What it thinks it’s saying is “pedestrian crossing,” but what I see is a pedestrian falling, and flying through the air, obviously after being struck by a moving vehicle.  Yikes, again!  A different angle on the picture, and the whole meaning changes.  That’s reframing.

Here’s a classic example of reframing.  Imagine a roaring fire in a fireplace.  That elicits positive feelings, right?  Cozy, nice, warm.  Now, expand the picture’s parameter, and you see the house is on fire as well.  Oh, no, run for your lives!  Negative feelings.  Now expand the picture further and you see it’s all a movie set and they’re only filming a controlled reproduction of a house fire.  Positive feelings, again.  A shift of frame changes everything.

What makes this “reframing” process cool of course is changing things that are problems in your life to non-problems.  Like the fear of flying.  What if your experience of planes and flight became a frame of relaxation, like lounging on a tropical beach or sitting in your easy chair at home?  Hypnosis can do that.

Big secret:   How we feel and how we respond to things and the thoughts/frames we create around them:  it’s all moveable furniture.  Within our control.  If you want to rearrange your mental furniture in a way that creates more beauty and ease  and success in your life, I can help.  That is my gig.  My passion.  My joy.  Come see me and we’ll reframe those problems out of existence.

Warm Regards,
Connie

It’s Just My Imagination

“Imagination.”  The other day I was driving and musing on words.  Words are, and have always been, “my thing.”  I love them!  When I was very young I’d sit and read the dictionary for enjoyment.  And, words are also the lifeblood of my career as a professional communicator.

Hypnosis is communication, on the deepest levels of the heart and mind.  🙂  I was musing in particular on the word “imagination.”

I was remembering how that word was used disparagingly when I was growing up.  “Well, she has QUITE an imagination, that one.” (She’s lying.) “It’s only your imagination.” (You’re wrong.) “He’s imagining things again!” (How can we get him back on track?)  When someone says:  “It’s JUST your imagination!”, they’re using the word “just” as a minimizer.  Expressing a lessening of value.  Why minimize magnificence?  In my book, imagination is absolutely essential to life and success.  It is something to be nurtured and appreciated, not treated as a problem.

Dream Imagine RelaxEinstein had it right when he said:  “Imagination is more powerful than knowledge.”  I absolutely agree.

To any of you that have been in my office, perhaps you noticed the wood blocks on the wall:  dream, imagine, relax.  Of those 3, imagine is the most important!  Why?  In our world, what we imagine successfully is what we get. It’s integral to creation. Why would anyone want to stomp down on or minimize or belittle the ability to create?  Hypnosis helps that act of creation to flourish.

How strange that imagine-ary means unreal when in truth imagine-ation makes things real.

Warm Regards & Happy Holidays to all,

A Touch of Calm!

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

I hope you’re having some happy holidays, and more to come!  Wishing you and yours a fun and glorious 2011.  Resolve to enjoy life more and more every day.  I’m about to share with you all a simple technique that is the backbone and my favorite “magic” of NLP–something which drives home like a jackhammer the idea that you control your own life, mind and body.   Specifically, I’m going to share with you a touch of calm, for the holidays!

NLPLOGONLP is Neuro-Linguistic Programming ™, a term coined by my teacher, Dr. Richard Bandler.  It’s a way of understanding the world and how we create reality.  And can change it.  It’s about enhancing communication, inside ourselves and with others.  For more info on what it is and the myriad of powerful and wonderful uses of NLP, you can check out my primary NLP website:  http://www.seattlenlptraining.com.

How would you like to communicate to your own mind:  “It’s time to relax!”  And have it actually happen in your body in an instant?  (Your wish is my command!)  Wouldn’t that be especially useful this time of year, with all the turbulence of wild weather, traffic, ice, work demands, family and extended family, parties, gift shopping, holidays, STRESS?

Here it is!  It’s called an “anchor” in NLP parlance.  It’s a stimulus-response mechanism, which we can capture and activate at will.  With intention.  So many times we are stimulated to a response (one we don’t particularly want or enjoy) by living and events.  Examples:  Your significant other starts using THAT critical tone of voice, and your body temperature rises.  You see a chocolate bar and the cravings kick in.  You smell popcorn, and you know you NEED a bucket.  How nice to create a stimulus-response in ourselves that we like.  And use it for…A Touch of Calm.  Apply as needed.

Here’s a technique for you.

Begin to remember a time in your life when you felt calm.  I mean REALLY calm.  Relaxed, with clarity of mind.  In that precise moment of time, nothing could ruffle your feathers.  Pick a memory from anywhere and anytime in your life, in any context, from childhood,  to adulthood.  In the hot tub, snuggled in bed, on the beach in Hawaii, in hypnotic trance, jogging, it doesn’t matter.  Let your mind remember CALM.  Now, put  yourself inside that memory, that experience.  Be there now!

Experience it.  What’s going on?  How do you feel?  What do you see?  What do you hear?  What do you smell?  Involve all your senses, fully and completely.  Let calm grow in you.  Feel  calm moving in your body.  Flow it, grow it.  Stronger.  When calm is just about at its peak, and you’re feeling really good, touch the tips of your thumb and ring finger of your left hand together and hold for one second.  Let go.  Think about something else for a moment or two, some neutral thing, and then imagine yourself again inside the calm memory.  Feel it.  Breathe it.  Once again, flow calm through every nerve and fiber of your body.  When you feel good and calm, touch the thumb and fingertip again.  Hold for a second, and let go.  This unique touch is now associated (anchored) with calm.  This touch will elicit calm!  In your body.  Forever.  Just that fast, you’ve trained your mind/body to do that!  How cool is that?  This is why Michael and I call NLP “The Magic of Instant Change.”

Now, whenever you want a dose of calm to flood your body, touch that same thumb and finger together and hold it (for a minute or so) in the way you’ve just anchored, and feel calm return.  Automatically!  Feeling stressed by Aunt Sue’s conversation at the party?  Touch and hold.  🙂  Stuck in mall traffic and beginning to grit your teeth?  Touch and hold.  Standing in an endless line at the supermarket and feeling irritated?  Touch and hold.  Joe at work pushing your buttons?  Push your own.  You now are armed with “a touch of calm” for the holidays.  And any time.  Enjoy!

Warm Regards,

Connie

Thank You, Unconscious Mind! Or…the story of The Lost Costco Rebate/Rewards Check

Are any of you Costco members?  Costco is a wonderful place and Michael and I have been members for years, back from when it used to be called “Price Club.”  It’s a wholesale club, where you can buy things in bulk and at great prices, like industrial sized cans of olives, or 10 pound bags of rice.  Or optical services, or clothing.  Or furniture, or electronics.  Or fine jewelry.

It’s a giant warehouse FULL of good things.  One nice thing about membership is the Reward Gift Certificate that you earn as an Executive Member, it’s 2% rebate on your year’s purchases.

Well, here’s the story.  I forgot about the rebate.  They come yearly attached to the renewal notice, in the mail.  We typically renew our annual membership at the store, so don’t pay undue attention to the paper renewal notices.  I got one a few months back, and tucked it away, figuring “we’ll renew at the store.”  Forgot about it.  Never saw the attached MONEY, the rebate check for our account.

Today, I was shredding a pile of old documents, old paid bills, credit card receipts, drafts of our tax returns, and etc.  I found the Costco bill from 2 years ago.  And the REWARD check was attached.  Yahoooo!  No expiration date, apparently.  Free money!  Free money!  THEN, I remembered that I had seen the current year’s renewal, and I knew that that reward check, also attached, would be even bigger.  We shop at Costco A LOT!!  However, I couldn’t find it.  I thought (using my conscious mind) of every place that envelope could be, and looked.  Nothing.  I wondered if I had shredded it before, or tossed it, without ever seeing the money certificate inside.  Bottom line, I couldn’t find it. 🙁

Then I went to work.  Did my thing.  Didn’t think about it again.  Came home.  And went RIGHT to the spot where I had tucked the Costco renewal notice envelope.    (On a ledge underneath the paper tray on my computer’s printer.)  There it was!  Another rebate check–so now we have two to spend.  You can guess where I’m going tonight: shopping at COSTCO.  We’re talking a few hundred dollars, which is worth remembering and finding.  Who wouldn’t like a few hundred unexpected bucks to spend for the holidays!?

My unconscious mind had percolated on the problem of the lost envelope today while I was doing other things, and then gave me the answer of where to find it this evening.  I didn’t THINK again about looking for it, all of a sudden my hand was reaching under the printer there saying:  “What is this?”   Pulled out the Costco envelope, and found the check.  Amazing.  Powerful.  COOL!  Thank you, Unconscious Mind. I APPRECIATE YOU!! X O

The unconscious mind is wonderful for helping locate lost objects, like this story illustrates.  But it locates so much more–when asked.  It will find resourceful solutions to life’s biggest dilemmas, as well.   All we have to do is ask it in the right way.  That right way is absolutely hypnosis.  Let me talk to your unconscious mind…I’m good at it!  I’ll help you find what you’re looking for.  Because, the knowledge and answer and ability to DO IT is already in you.  You’re amazing.  Powerful.  And cool.  Let me prove it to you.

Warm Regards,
Connie

Boots & Chain-store Hypnosis

I was at the mall today, and I found it to be a red letter day to buy red leather boots.  Looking around the mall, I couldn’t help but notice boots upon boots upon boots–my reticular activating system was set on the boot channel, it seems.  In every store display window, and on the majority of feet marching past, old and young–EVERYONE in Seattle it seems was wearing boots today.  ‘Tis the season.  Shopping, and cold and wet.  BOOTS are the style.  Ankle boots, thigh high, and everything in between.  Fur, leather, rubber, knit.  Mostly black, but a few brights like my red out there.

Bombarded by the boots, I finally said:  “Ok, I’m in!”  The search was on, and I covered a lot of territory.  Shopping can take awhile, but when you find a real and valuable gem, you get to chortle with glee.  Now, the perfect new boots are in the bag.  My new red suede boots are very nice, and extremely well made.  Quality.  I think they’ll stand up to wear and last and look terrific long into the new year, and the next and the next.  It’s important to choose quality.   Cheapo and shoddy mass production don’t cut it. They tend to be ill fitting, cause blisters, and fall apart after walking in snow. You want fine crafted workmanship.  In footwear, and in hypnotists.

I think hypnosis should be as popular as boots.  That would be a GOOD thing for the world, with happier, healthier people running around enjoying life more and more and accomplishing their goals more and more and faster and easier.  That’s the power of hypnosis.  A helping tool deluxe!  When shopping, whether it’s  for shoes or for a hypnotist, and you’re looking for high quality, you’ve got to be alert to avoid weak and inferior product.  Unfortunately, it’s out there, as well.   Impersonal, and unskilled product.

Beware of hypnosis stores, with an eye on the bottom line, not the heart.  In the realm of your mind, you want somebody GOOD, somebody who can really help, with real and extensive training.  Hypnosis is an art, not a “cookie cutter” formula.  You want somebody with creativity  as well as skill.  You want somebody with presence and passion and heart, who’s been around the block and back again, and CARES.  You won’t find all that at the “here, put on these goggles and listen to this tape,  maybe you’ll be hypnotized and maybe not, maybe these suggestions will apply to your situation and maybe not” chain hypnosis store.

When you’re choosing a hypnotist, here are a few things to consider.  How many live, in-person trainings have they completed, and how recently?  What are the certifications earned?  Ask, and verify.  Are they from recognized, reputable schools, or is it Joe in his basement printing out  certs for his 2 hour internet course?  Are they committed to continuing education?  Do they have an explicit code of ethics to share with you?   How many different helping tools have they learned and mastered?   What  professional hypnosis affiliations, national and local, do they belong to?  How long have they been in business as a hypnotherapist?  Are there testimonials of proven success for issues similar to yours?  Do they have a business license?  Are they registered with the State of Washington as a hypnotherapist?  Also very important, trust your own vibe, how do they come across, look and/or sound (on the phone or face to face)–is the emphasis on “squeeze the money” or “I want to help!”?

Mindworks Hypnosis (in other words, me and Michael), we’re the real deal.  Michael and I want to help.  We can and we do.  Call us if you’re serious about improving your life.  The answers to all those questions are on our website:  http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net.  Our expertise.  Our trainings.  Our successes.  Our passion.  It’s like buying the best boots, the beautiful, well-formed ones that last and fit and bring joy and color to your life.

Warm Regards,
Connie

“Big Ass” Cookie

Ok, this question is to the myriad of you (and I’m one as well) who battle with weight.  What do you do when you slip up?  When you fall off the “being good” wagon?   When that holiday treat calls to you, and you listen?  Do you beat yourself up?  Do you say:  “Well, the day is shot, the week is shot, I might as well eat another brownie and/or piece of pizza and I’ll start again Monday!”?  Do you say:  “Well, I failed, best forget the whole idea of ever getting thin!!”  Or do you say:  “Well, I did that.  It was a choice.  I’d rather choose and do something different, starting NOW.”?

The topic is recovery strategies.  You’ve got to shift your perception from diets, which tend to be all or nothing mindsets (you’re ON the diet, or you’re OFF the diet) to a lifestyle change orientation.  Success does not equal perfection.  Hypnosis helps!   Even if you make a decision you don’t like, you get to make a new one, and continue from there.  This essay is about cutting yourself some slack when you “goof up” (as we all do) and then continue your long term success.  I’ve lost 80+ pounds in the past couple years.  Is that success?  Hell, yes!  Was I perfect in my eating choices every moment of every day of that time?  Hell, no.

I’m going to tell the story of my own recent slip-up.  And recovery!  I call this story:  “Big ass” cookie.  My teacher, Dr. Richard Bandler, encourages us to make large, rich, 3D, vibrant goal pictures in our minds to motivate us to move in those desired directions.  He calls those:  “big ass pictures.”  Somehow, that phrase has embedded itself into my mind.  So, I use it, too, even if it’s slightly vulgar.  I’m going to tell the story, now, of the “big ass cookie.”  It wasn’t just a picture.  It was a reality.

We all have triggers in us, unconscious or conscious imprinted motivators which propel us into action.  I have an “eat sweets” trigger:  it’s called “Halloween.”  I have another:  it’s called “I’m on vacation, and it’s time to indulge myself.”  I have another:  it’s called “I’ve been working really hard so I deserve it.”  I have another:  it’s called “I’m on sale, buy me.”   All of these converged a few weeks ago while I was in Chicago.

Our hotel room had a kitchenette, so we went to the store looking for some food to put in there.  It was within a day or two of Halloween, and every aisle end display was full of bags of candy.  I ignored those.  But then…a bakery table.  And on this table were Halloween decorated cupcakes, cakes, and cookies, all on sale!  I was riveted by the beautiful dinner-plate sized chocolate chip, decorator-iced cookies with witches and goblins and ghosts sugar-smeared on top, the kind that ideally you cut up into about 20 serving slices.  Big Ass Cookies!!  My triggers converged.  The cookie called to me.  I bought it.  Just the one.  Of course, it was bigger than godzilla’s head.

I bought it, but I didn’t eat it.  Yet.  Then it was time to go home.  I should  have tossed it.  I couldn’t.  I put it in my suitcase, at a risk of making my suitcase over the weight limit–because it was already close.  I figure this cookie weighed 2 pounds.  I crammed it, this giant, hurkin’ cookie into my suitcase.  And I brought it home.  And I opened it.  It had gotten squished.  I didn’t care.  I ate a piece.  A big piece.  Probably about two–three servings worth–THEN I tossed it.  Nowhere no how is eating sugar-iced chocolate chip cookies on my  low carb plan.

But, here’s the key to success.  I began again.  On my healthy lifestyle eating program.  I had gained a few pounds while on vacation in Chicago, that “indulgence” thing kicking in–the last gasp being that cookie.  Home again, I didn’t beat myself up, I recovered.  Back on track!  In the past two weeks I’ve lost 8 pounds.

Here’s the deal.  Hypnosis is FANTASTIC for installing in you, me, all of us these recovery strategies.  How to keep going, in spite of momentary temptations or lapses or “failings.”  To keep focus on the big ass picture of lean and healthy, the goals that drive us.  If you find yourself dieting, and giving up, dieting and giving up, hypnosis will help you reframe a new lifestyle and keep it going.  Long term success.  Which is not necessarily perfection!  I know whereof I speak!

I am 2 pounds right now off of my all-time low adult weight, and I know I’ll get there next week.  And even lower.   That’s right, during the holidays, while most others are packing on the weight, I’m slenderizing.  If you’re ready for long term success with your weight, I’ll help!  Now is the perfect time. Call me:  (425) 564-8608.

Happy Holidays & Warm Regards,
Connie

Rewire the Brain Through Hypnosis

RewireHi, Hypno Friends!

Well, Michael and I attended another hypnosis training event this past weekend, because it’s always a good idea to learn more and increase skills.  It was fantastic!  As you may have noticed from my conversations here (and that’s what this blog is, me thinking out loud), I CARE about hypnosis.   And being good at it.  I LOVE hypnosis.  I live hypnosis.  I want to share the good word on hypnosis.  It is so positive and so powerful, so healing, and so mis-understood and underappreciated it the world.  (You may enjoy my blog entry on “Hollyweird.”)  https://mindworkshypnosis.net/hypnotizer/?p=202.  People are influenced by movies, TV, popular culture–and those media do not always portray the reality of hypnosis.

So, I have two stories I want to share in this blog entry.  1.  My recent efforts to combat “Hollyweird” by giving my professional input into a performance involving hypnosis and 2.  More about my hypnosis training and the cool and valuable things I learned there–how to help rewire the brain, specifically for stroke survivors.  However, rewiring is also applicable for so much more than that.  We also enhanced our knowledge on how to alleviate pain with hypnosis, and “emergency hypnosis” for those life and death situations such as car crashes or dealing with burn victims.

Story 1.  I had a fun new gig.  I consulted for a theater company.  They’re putting on a play in the Seattle area and it involves a scene of hypnosis.  They wanted to get it right, be authentic, so they contacted me.  I was happy to help.  I met with the director and several actors and explained the truth about hypnosis, what it is, how it feels, what it can do.  They acted out the scene for me and I critiqued.  (So much fun!)  More than just describing, I also hypnotized them to experience it live and first hand.  Because, experiencing is believing.  They’re believers now.  In the positive power and magic of hypnosis.  Yay!!  Take that, Hollyweird!  🙂  And Hollyweird’s continuing saga of evil, thieving, murdering, insane hypnotists with their armies of hypno-zombie slaves.

Here’s an entertainment source putting a more accurate depiction out there.  I approve!  Here’s the play, by the way, if you’re interested.  It opens this Friday:  http://thatgtheatre.com/now.html.  The play is “Shoreditch Madonna.”

Story 2.  Don Mottin 001 Cropped EnhancedMore about the training.  It was two days of continuing education, put on by the NGH (National Guild of Hypnotists, which is the oldest, largest and most respected professional organization of hypnotists in the US) and Michael and I both attended.  Yay!  We now have more tools to help with pain management, emergency hypnosis, and helping stroke survivors.  We learned to rewire the brain through hypnosis–which is something we do on a daily basis anyway, but now specifically targeted for helping stroke survivors.  After a stroke, there may be a loss of movement, vision, cognitive function, and so on.  These tools help stroke survivors to be more functional and regain capabilities!  A worthy goal, and wonderful hypnosis tools.

Here’s a picture of me and the instructor, Don Mottin.  Besides being a stroke survivor himself, He’s Vice President of the NGH.  That’s the national group, and we were darn lucky to have him travel to Seattle to offer this training.  It’s all in the family as Michael, my Michael, is President of our state’s local chapter of the NGH, the NGHWA.  http://www.nghwa.org.  One of the facets of the guild is to have a committment to continuing hypnosis education.  This is some of that!  Yes!  Learning, in my model of the world, is ongoing and forever.  That’s what I want and that’s what I do.  Learn and utilize.  My intention, of course, is to be the best and most helpful hypnotist I can be.  More tools is good tools.

If you know someone who has suffered a stroke, please do consider hypnosis and hypnotherapy as a tool to help them rewire their brain.  I know this works, and I’d be happy to work in conjuction with their medical MDs to enhance the healing process and regain their lives!

The Devil and James Bond

The other day Michael and I were driving, and I noticed the car ahead of me.  I said:  “There’s James Bond.”  (My sister had dated James Bond for awhile, but that’s another story.  🙂 )  The license plate number featured a familiar trio of numbers in it:  007.  Also, in the hot, red Ferrari next to me was the devil (or one of his henchmen) driving…that car featured 666.  Amusing?  Perhaps.  But WHY did those ideas pop into my mind…James Bond and the Devil?  I’ll tell you why!

Because our unconscious minds are amazing meaning-seeking devices.  Continuously looking for patterns!  And finding them.  You and me and each one of us, we are masters of pattern recognition.  It’s how we learn, and how we survive.  How we learn to recognize mom’s face as infants in the pixels of color dancing before our eyes, family, friends, a place of comfort, and how we learn to recognize danger as well.  THAT MEANS THIS.  That red and white octagon means lift my foot from the accelerator and move it to the de-accelerator.  Now!  So I don’t run into the tail end of James Bond.

The mind loves to take what might appear to be random chaos, and attach meaning.  Stars in the night sky, for instance.  Constellations.  To early astronomers, and to us, these are not just scattered blinking lights, these are mythological creatures with names and personalities, codified and recognized, parading across the sky.

I was in in Oregon giving a hypnosis talk a few weeks ago, and I saw my cousin Eddie’s face in the hotel bathroom wallpaper.  He was THERE, I tell you.  His exact profile.  His mouth, his nose, which is absolutely distinctive and recognizable!  Right next to the white rabbit.  Random shapes become patterns, with meaning.  We don’t struggle to make these associations happen, they just do!

I invite you to read these sentences:

” Aoccdrnig to rscheearch at Cmabrigde uinervtisy, it deosn’t mttaer waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteres are at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a tatol mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm.”

Your mind is effortlessly unscrambling the scramble.  🙂  Because our unconscious minds make sense out of non-sense.  And that’s a good thing!  And a useful thing.

When it comes to problem solving, it’s massively useful.  When we’re feeling stuck/trapped/locked into a box of limited options (none of which may be appealing), our conscious mind is not much help.  It scours the box.  The solution to the problem is not there, in the conscious box.  It’s out there.  Somewhere else.  When we tap into the unconscious part of our mind, we are looking in a far, far, far broader spectrum, outside that box.  Somewhere else.  Everywhere else.  At everything.   And answers (meaning) are there in the larger jumble.  Our unconscious minds can and do find it.  And this changes everything and dissolves the box.

That’s what hypnosis is about, and how it is useful.  It’s a doorway into tapping into the massive pattern recognition and problem solving abilities of the unconscious mind.

In the news recently, a lady on the television game show “Wheel of Fortune” solved a 27 letter puzzle with only one letter showing, and 26 letters hidden.  Her mind, her unconscious mind, took the information available (how many words in the puzzle phrase and how many letters per word and another letter she knew was NOT there) and scoured the universe for meaning.  What English common phrase fits that criteria?  And, she found it!  Instantly, it seemed!  “I’ve got a good feeling about this.”  Her unconscious mind fed it to her conscious mind.  To those of you who viewed the footage of this amazing problem-solving feat, it did seem miraculous, did it not?  It wasn’t a miracle, it was simply her mind being good at what we all do.  Make sense and attach meaning.  In this case it was useful–she won a $6,000 trip to the Caribbean.

Not just this lady, I think we all should give a great big “THANK YOU, UNCONSCIOUS MIND!” shout out to our unconscious minds.  They keep us alive and thriving, and do solve life’s dilemmas when we get our conscious, linear thinking out of the way long enough for the useful and helpful patterns to reveal themselves.

If you’re interested in learning more about hypnosis and how to tap and direct this power within your own minds, I encourage you to check out:  http://www.seattlenlptraining.com.  One of the ways that Michael and I share our passion is through teaching hypnosis and NLP (which is a super duper high tech hypnosis).

Warm Regards,

Connie

The box is ripped and the goods are damaged, give me my money back!

I was riding a shuttle yesterday from my Chicago hotel to the airport, and overheard this bit of conversation.  A man was discussing his 13 year old daughter and used this phrase about her:  more than once:  “She’s damaged goods.”

Without even knowing the back story, I find that thought as expressed very limiting in a number of ways.

Number one, when you speak of a person as an object, as a static thing, like “goods,” that limits action, possibility.  A thing is a thing.   A cardboard box is a cardboard box.  A person is alive, breathing, shifting, infinitely creative.  We, with the creativity of our imaginations, can take things, even in damaged or broken condition, and make something new and  beautiful.  Take a “broken glass.”  Perhaps it’s got a chip missing from the lip.  No longer a useful item for drinking.  Throw it in the trash, right?  But wait, we can take that glass and make it into a vase for flowers, and it’s still useful and beautiful.  Or we can break it up into chunks of glass and put it together differently,  give it new, beautiful life as an artwork, a mosaic.  We can smooth out the rough edge and/or fill in the chip with another even stronger material and it will be useful for drinking again.  Choices for change.

Number two, and even more important:  people are not “damaged.”  They aren’t broken.  A person always does the best they can, which is always VERY resourceful, given the current state of their life.  And they have within themselves infinite choices.  To be something different when they want to be, and how they want to be.

In hypnotherapy, we don’t “fix people.”  We guide them to new choices.  I’m always impressed with the virtuosity of creativity that comes into my office, how people have developed behaviors and ideas, which once upon a time were useful, but no longer are.  They can be just as powerfully creative in changing.  And to me, “change” is a wonderful word, a positive word, worthy of cheerleaders jumping in the air or throwing confetti .  Yay!!

I don’t believe that when a thing (or person) is “damaged,” it’s “game over.”  This father’s tone and attitude were stuffed full of an obvious negative conviction of “and that’s the way it is.”  Au contraire!  I believe in change, an ever shifting and moving energy.  Infinite possibility!  Whatever this 13 year old girl has been through, she can be through it differently–in ways that are useful to her, her growth, and her life.

Warm Regards,
Connie

“And I don’t want YAMS!”

I had a crazy dream last night. My husband, Michael, and I were sitting in a restaurant, going out for dinner. There was a party of several people at a table next to us, engaged in a project, making quite a bit of noise. So we watched.

It was a project of intense thought and concentrated effort. The waitress was waiting to take their order. Instead of ordering, they had a large whiteboard standing on a frame and a person standing beside it writing on it. She was making a list, and checking it more than twice. The items on the list? What each person didn’t want for dinner that night. They would shout it out, randomly, as it occurred to them, and it got added to the communal list. The whiteboard person would write it all down. One girl shouted: “And I don’t want YAMS!” “yams” would appear on the board. The list was getting quite long. “I don’t want scrambled eggs with peanut butter on top.”

It occurred to me (in my dream) that this project was quite stupid. You walk into a restaurant. Rather than order what you do want from the menu, you’re creating your own menu, of what you DON’T want. How useful is that, if your goal is to eat something for dinner right now? I think the waitress wandered away, probably bored.

Crazy, right? Never happen in a million years, right? But this is precisely how so many people’s minds operate in the wide awake, day-to-day, “real world.” They focus on what they don’t want. That’s not going to move you forward. A shift of focus is called for, a shift to the postive. What DO you want? How would you rather feel? What would you rather do?

I had a client come in last night with a plethora of fears. A litany of fears. Being alone, the dark, airplanes, and more, creating panic attacks. I asked her how she would rather feel. She couldn’t answer that, she was so mired in what she currently feels and doesn’t want. Calm is not on the menu. Only fear. We’ve got to put calm and safe and happy on the menu. Then she can order it, and enjoy it!

What hypnosis does is focus your mind on positive change, and a desired outcome, in a way which stirs the magic of the universe (how’s that for technical jargon?) to actually creating that positive change. It IS magic. But you’ve got to know what you DO want in order to get there. I’ll help you make those shifts.

Connie

A Chance to Trance – Quit Smoking @ Bellevue College

Bellevue College offers adult continuing education.
Bellevue College offers adult continuing education.

Hi, Guys!

It’s interesting.  I’m offering a couple courses at Bellevue College this autumn.  One is Healthy Hypnosis:  Let Go of Weight and it’s filling up like gangbusters.  The other is Quit Smoking With Self Hypnosis, and there’s less interest in it, apparently.  I find that surprising!   This (self hypnosis) is SUCH a powerful tool for habit change, and the number one habit in the universe which should and can be changed easily is smoking.  As in, don’t do it.  Ever.   And so many people profess to want that!  I can help.  These tools offer massive help, which I share in my class.  The how-to!

All hypnosis is self hypnosis, even the guided work I do in my office with clients.  This course is even bigger than that.  It’s like the old saying.  Give a guy a fish, and he’s got a fish.  For dinner tonight.  That’s nice.   TEACH a guy to fish, and he’s got fish forever.  Bring on the tartar sauce!  🙂  That’s wonderful.  I want to teach you how to fish for change.  The course title is about one particular habit:  Smoking!  But it can be used for so much more than that.  And I want my students to use it for so much more than that.  Hypnosis is a life-changer, a life-enhancer, beyond quantification, really.

Here’s a chance.  Your chance. LEARN.  Grow.  Thrive.  It’s what I want for you, and I know it’s what you want for yourself.  It’s a chance to trance.  I wrote this in an earlier blog entry and you know, it’s so true that it bears repeating.  I said:  “The unconscious mind is the good guy—for all of us. The part of us that keeps us alive, breathing, blood flowing, healing, storehouses our learning, wants us to grow and thrive and be happy and healthy and successful.”  Yes!   In hypnosis, that’s what we do, converse with this part of ourselves, and improve the quality of our lives through these conversations.  Wouldn’t that ability be worth something to you?  To anyone?

There are still seats available in my self hypnosis courses at Bellevue College this autumn, where I share these tools of “mindwork.”  Here are the direct sign up links.

Quit Smoking With Self Hypnosis.  This takes you to Bellevue College’s webpage, course description, and shopping cart.  As always, if you want more information, you can contact me directly via the info. on my main webpage.  🙂

Healthy Hypnosis, Let Go of Weight.
http://www.campusce.net/BC/course/course.aspx?C=11559&pc=1066&mc=1387&sc=

Quit Smoking With Self Hypnosis begins this month, September 27 and continues the following week on October 4th.  Do you have something better to do on a couple Monday nights than improve your life dramatically?

If I do say so myself the course is a lot of fun.  It spans the course of one week, and two evenings.  Six hours total.  VERY hands on.  Your mind grows.  Visually, and on the inside, too!  🙂  You will be hypnotized.  Repeatedly.  And learn to do it for yourself.  And learn what to do and how to communicate to yourself in that state of mind which makes the difference in your habits and your life.  You learn about language of influence.  You learn about how the mind works.  You learn the truth about hypnosis.  It’s all good, and it’s all useful.  I do hope some more of you will join me.

Warm Regards,
Connie

Honing Skills on my Birthday Month

I like words. I like learning them, hearing them, using them. Words are “my thing” (which is terrific for a hypnotist). And they always have been my thing. Soon, I’ll be “honing.” My skills in hypnosis & NLP.  My tools, my abililty to HELP.  My FUN.  Honing. Sharpening. Making better. I also like dictionary.com. 🙂 “To make more acute, intense or effective; improve; perfect: to hone one’s skills.” Absolutely!  🙂  It also means “To move or advance toward a target or goal.” Hone in.

I’m doing both!

Because here’s what I’m honing towards, here’s what I want. To be the absolute best changeworker and hypnotist/hypnotherapist possible. I already am the best in the Pacific Northwest, but the world’s a big place. I want to be one of the absolute best in the universe. So, I’m continuing my education, and studying with and learning from the best of the best. Modeling genius. It’s time intensive, it’s money intensive, it takes committment. But I’m doing it! Michael and I both!

We’re off for a couple weeks of more hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming trainings. In Orlando, Florida, with the co-originator of NLP, and in my opinion, the best hypnotist living, Dr. Richard Bandler. We go where the geniuses perform/teach and it’s not always nearby. We’re doing it! It’s my joy, my passion, as well as my comittment to honing!  It’s also my birthday present to myself!  (I’m a July baby!)

A committment to excellence.  That’s a good thing!  🙂  I’m on Facebook (you can be my friend), and recently noticed an example of a differing attitude.  A fellow hypnotist and NLP-er posted on one of my teachers’ pages whining (or so it appeared to me) that her training certification, the actual certificate she earned from him had an expiration date on it.  Why, she asked.  The answer is simple.  Hypnosis and NLP is not something you learn once, and wham, done.  I guess some people do approach a profession this way.  “I know how to cut that piece of brick.  I’m done.”  Not me.  No way, Jose.  That certificate is only the beginning.

For me, learning is a never-ending unfolding process, and I’m ALWAYS desirous of improving my skills.   One can ALWAYS be better.  Sharper.  More inspired.  In the realm of the mind, there’s no hard and fast, “this is it.”  There are more things to LEARN!  When you bring in native intelligence and a passion for and committment to what you’re doing, and add the continued exposure to excellence, the continued honing (of something absolutely worth honing), you get someone who knows what they’re doing.

I know what I’m doing.  And that means I can help you better, faster, more efficiently, more creatively than other people can.  If you really want change, I certainly think you should seek out the best for that.  Aren’t you worth it? Another wonderful mentor/teacher of mine said to me once:  “It ain’t bragging, if it’s true.”  I’m not bragging.  I am extremely talented at this work, this art, and getting better all the time.

I hope to post here from Orlando and the trainings!   Michael and I send warm (upper 90’s) greetings!

Warm Regards,
Connie
