Eat Wise Drop A Size (or More)

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

“Stay at home” has done massive good in containing the virus.  However, it has also had a negative consequence for individuals:  Covid weight gain.

We know why.  Less activity, less healthy food options, comfort and stress eating, etc.

Now, the world is opening up again and it’s time to get our minds into healthy habits.  That’s the work we do!  I’ve written up my plan to help, and it’s below:

FOOD CHOICE

Our weight truly is a national obsession:  thinking about weight, studying this new diet, that new food plan, purchasing diet products, looking for “the cure.”.

Unfortunately, diets and food plans fail miserably in helping people achieve a healthy weight and staying there.  Why? A “diet” is a conscious (thinking) endeavor. It involves analysis, logic, and willpower.  That cannot cut it long term.  In our habits, we are really at the mercy of unconscious motivations.

We THINK we know why we do what we do. And we would be wrong. Weight gain and loss involve unconscious patterns of behaviors, “back behind the curtain” embedded beliefs about ourselves and the world that drive us. They run and run in us and like programs installed on a computer.

Why hypnosis for weight loss? We can actually get in there and address and change these patterns of unconscious behaviors and limiting beliefs. Update the programs running in us. Change how we feel and what we do. These changes lead to long-term sustained weight loss success and weight management.

Willpower alone can’t cut it!  Willpower activates during the “I want it” vs. “No, I’m not going to have it.” struggle. We are torn between two competing desires. Willpower is weak. Willpower is difficult to maintain long term (yo-yo dieting proves this).

With skilled hypnosis & NLP, we erase the need for willpower altogether. Let me say that again. We get rid of any need for willpower. Willpower is forced to the surface when there is a struggle. What if there were no struggle? What if your brain just said “no” automatically to the unhealthy choices? There’d be no use for willpower, and it wouldn’t even come into play. You would just be doing something different because it feels right.

Here are some of my client results/comments regarding this change:

“Hi Connie, The party I was at last night had all of the things I find the hardest to resist! Meats, cheeses, bread, crackers, nuts. It was so nothing to me! I didn’t have ONE THING! And the best part was I didn’t WANT one thing!  It’s just so amazing to me. I am sure it’s “another day at the office” for you but, for me…oh my goodness it was so awesome to not obsess over having it or not…wow. Thank you!!!”  – Lori H., Mercer Island, WA

Is her willpower in play? No. The craving for these particular food choices is gone.

“I’ve lost 40# in 4 months… My sweet tooth and chip obsession disappeared overnight.  My self-esteem skyrocketed.  It’s been months since I’ve seen you and yet I’m still right on track with my goals.” E. – Seattle.

Is her willpower in play? No.

“I don’t crave ice cream at all now!  Or chocolate.  I am in shock!!!”- Saliha B., Issaquah, WA.

Is her willpower in play? No.

These people are not “dieting” to avoid sweets and “temptations” and they are not struggling; they’re just automatically choosing different in ways that serve their weight management success. That is what skilled hypnosis can do. Hypnosis creates the positive changes that move people by addressing and changing the unconscious patterns. No diet can do that.

PORTION CONTROL  Here’s an important aspect of weight loss:  knowing when to say when. How to become attuned to the right amount of food for your body and energy needs. How to eat less and enjoy it more.

Habits are learned, and they can be unlearned.  At Mindworks, healthy habits are installed.  A client can adopt an unconscious new strategy and find themselves engaging in new behaviors without any mental effort.

We get clients in tune with physical hunger vs. emotional hunger. The mind can notice the difference. Emotional hunger is “fed” in new non-caloric ways. Physical hunger leads to a healthy choice strategy in the mind, meaning you are more likely to reach for an apple rather than a cookie, a salad rather than a cheeseburger and fries. We implant a speed strategy, how fast to eat. Slowing it down is usually helpful. We implant a beverage of choice strategy: water! And then most importantly, we implant an exit strategy. When to STOP EATING. This is set at the point of satisfaction when the body’s nutritional and energy needs are met in accordance with achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.

When it is all said and done, Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP weight loss clients find themselves engaging in:

–Less emotional eating  –Healthier choices –Smaller portions –More satisfaction.

It’s all good.  If your unconscious strategies (habits around food) need adjustment, it is so much easier than you think to make healthy changes.  Let me help!

EXERCISE   Beyond food choice and portion control, motivation to exercise is high up on the list of changes needed.  “Let’s get physical” Movement. Working out.  Active life. Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy is a way to make it happen.

The “magic” of NLP is, simply put: We can attach new feelings to any activity.

What would it be like to be full of energy and motivation to exercise? What if exercise became something wonderful and pleasurable and eagerly anticipated? What if your mind simply said: “This is who I am and this is what I do”? Do you suppose it would be easier to increase your physical activity level?

Let’s fight the Covid couch potato syndrome. That’s being sedentary in our work, and after.  Too much sitting around, watching TV, surfing the web, with a body at rest for hours at a stretch. When you add in stress eating, that’s a sure-fire formula for gaining weight.

With hypnosis and NLP, we can change habits into a new mindset for exercise. A new mindset leads to new behaviors. In our work, we create and install new, useful mindsets for exercise. Here are some examples:

–I love it. It’s fun  –It’s my routine. It’s just who I am and what I do. –I have to. (a sense of urgency and necessity)

New beliefs and behaviors go with the new mindset:

“I’m an active person. I’m a healthy person. I have energy. I make the time to be physically active, as this is something wonderful for me. This is “me” time. I deserve healthy.  I work out. I go for walks. I look for opportunities for movement.”

Hypnosis (and in that word I include NLP) is a way to change your thinking and feeling and behaviors and beliefs to become who you want to be. It really is endlessly fascinating work as every person is different and their desires, beliefs and motivations are different. The game and the fun is finding what will work with each individual and installing those changes. Therefore I often say hypnosis is an art form as much as it is a science.

Stay well and we look forward to working with you soon!

All the Best,
Connie

An “Astonishing Transformation”

Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP for the Best in Seattle hypnotherapy.
Creating new worlds.

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

Here’s another happy client commentary after Neuro-Linguistic Programming and hypnotherapy with us:

K.C, of Bellevue, came in for weight management.  After a lifetime of struggle, she says:

“It’s an astonishing transformation.  I’m so happy!  I’m so grateful!” – K.C., Bellevue, WA

Way to go, KC!  That’s what we’re all about, transformations.  Or, as I like to call them, “trance-formations.”  Hypnosis unlocks the power of your own subconscious mind to help you move towards your goals.  It’s not magic, it’s power you already have.

I’m happy to help.  Michael and I are accepting new clients.  Call to get on our calendar.  Why wait for January 1st to begin your weight loss resolution program?  Now is the best time to start.

All the Best,
Connie

No More Food Binges

Christina is losing weight now.

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

Another happy client success story. Christina M., of Seattle came to Mindworks to get control of food and stick with her Weight Watchers food plan and begin losing weight.  She wrote to me this week sharing her joy in the changes.  On her way, minus another 10 pounds:

“Hi Connie, I’m amazed! I’ve noticed a complete change in how I relate to food. I’m happy to report I haven’t binged! I’m also more active.  I’m down about 10 pounds since last visiting you (slowly, but surely, averaging ~2 pounds per week)!

Oh, and my mantra (“Yay, Me!”) works time and time again to immediately slow my breathing and get me into a more relaxed state.

Grateful for this mental shift you’ve helped me achieve.” — Christina M., Seattle, WA

The “mantra,” as she calls it is a tool called an NLP anchor.  We create your Designer Feelings® and give you control of them.  For Christina, the anchor she uses to change her state of mind and body are words:  “Yay, me!”  It activates her Designer Feelings® to come back to her.  They can be any words.  They can be images held in the mind’s eye.  They can be fingertip touches.  We set it up for you, with whatever modality seems best.

When you feel different, you are different.  How would you like to change?  We can do that.

Healthy Eating Habits for Sale

Are you ready to eat healthy?  We help.

Healthy eating automated. How cool is that? In this brief video, we share one (out of hundreds) of our happy weight loss client success stories. A great food plan is not enough.  Healthy eating mindset for sale!  The video is brief. Her joy isn’t. Here are Cindi of Kirkland’s full comments about our work.

Cindi of Kirkland says: “I’m feeling great! In the last couple of weeks I’ve lost five pounds. And I don’t really feel like I’ve been trying,” which is great! Here’s what I’m noticing:

• I’ve been waking up in the morning, and I have lots of energy

• I’m not focused on food, which I think is really awesome for me, because that’s always been a big focus.

• I’m not eating sugar, which is a huge thing! I’ve really seen the differences in that. My skin isn’t breaking out. And I don’t have headaches, and that’s a huge thing. Because I always felt like I had allergies that were food related. I’m starting to eliminate all of that processed sugar stuff.

• No cravings for fast food whatsoever. I can drive by fast food and I’m not getting any of that, which is really great!

• I’m noticing that I’m starting to incorporate healthy foods into my diet more easily, automatically. In the past was if I didn’t feel like making dinner, I would be thinking about where can I go to pick up something to eat quick. Now, what I’m doing is going into the fridge: “OK, well, I’ve got some veggies and I could do a stir fry.” and I’m whipping up a meal and I’m satisfied with it!

• Another interesting thing, is that my portions are minimal. Just regular sized portions, and I’m not hungry after I eat. I’m done! I just make my meal and I’m satisfied. And sometimes I’m even making too much food. I put it away and have something for leftovers.

So, it’s been really good! I can definitely tell that there’s a shift happening for me. For sure! I do recommend Connie. I was one of those people that researched everything to death! I wanted to make sure that this was going to work for me. I came in and I met with Connie and I felt very comfortable. I felt in sync with Connie. And I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t feel comfortable with the person doing this process. Connie made the process really easy and simple.” –Cindi, Kirkland, WA.

The Guilt is Gone

Healthy eating with Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP
Take control of the dinner plate!  You have a world of choices.

Hi, Hypnosis Curious!

Here is the story of a recent weight loss client.  She wanted to pursue her goal of a healthy weight, but something was stopping her.  Her husband’s favorite dinner was pizza, and she found herself eating it often and more of it than she wanted to.  He wanted quick and easy.  She wanted more healthy choices.  Dilemma!

She told me that she felt GUILT about preparing and cooking the foods appropriate for her diet, because she had a belief that her husband wouldn’t like the food, wouldn’t want to eat the food, and would be unhappy.

This guilt was a stopper from her successfully pursuing her goal of a healthy weight.  Although the guilt (and resultant act of putting other people first) had been a part of her for her entire life, she agreed that it was useless and nonproductive to her goals.

So, we got rid of her guilt.  That’s what skilled and creative hypnosis and NLP, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, can do.  Gone.  Deleted.

Suddenly, she had the focus and self-care needed to eat healthy.  And, to her surprise, she found that her husband was happy about it all, and actually LIKED the healthy meals she prepared.

This idea in the mind (“hubby won’t like it) and the resultant bad feeling (guilt) was in the way of her success.  We address everything in our Mindworks Hypnosis NLP sessions.  When the goal is weight loss, we don’t only delve into food choice and portion control and emotional eating and the like, we also delve into belief.  After our work, she has a new belief set, a new focus, a new energy, and a new, improved self-image:

“I’m important!  I’m worthy of healthy, and my hubby will support me because he loves me.  So, I’m doing what I have to do for my health.  And he will reap the benefits as well.”

At Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP, we do what it takes to help.  And every client is different with different habits and patterns of thinking.  Every session is different, as well.  We work it.

This weight loss client is referring her friends to me.  One had gone the route of gastric surgery to manage her weight, and it was not successful.  Not good.  People have more control than they know—we just find it and bring it out for success.  Learn more anytime: https://www.mindworkshypnosis.net/hypnosis-results-testimonials-index/

Sugar Addiction into Sugar Indifference? Lose Weight with Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP Seattle

Conquer New Worlds of Weight Loss Success
Conquer New Worlds of Weight Loss Success

Hello, Seattle Area & Beyond Hypnosis Curious & Enthusiastic!

What if personal control and change were easy? What if it were possible to turn “addiction” into “indifference.”  It is!  With the right tools.  When you get your conscious mind and UNconscious mind working together on a project, success is easy.

It’s Halloween week, and we all know what THAT means!  Candy everywhere, treats, at the office, leftovers at home, the kids piles of candy, candy clearance bins at the market, and etc. and etc.  If sugar is one of your temptations, you can make it be different.  You can make it be IN-different.  We can turn that “addiction” into sugar indifference!  How would you like to say:  “No thank you, not right now!  Not interested.” and mean it?!  That would be preferable to “Gimme, gimme, gimme!”, wouldn’t it, if achieving and maintaining a healthy weight is one of your goals.

Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP offers private sessions custom crafted with a unique skill set of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and creative hypnotherapy. We have won several awards as “Best of Bellevue” for weight loss and control program.

Call me and find out more, we can set up a free in office consultation meeting.

Hypnosis: An Antidote to Risky Food Choices

www.mindworkshypnosis.net to end fearHi, Seattle Hypnosis Friends!

I read a scary story today on Yahoo:   “Could French Fries Be Killing You?   An 8-year study conducted by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found a direct linkage between higher death risk and frequency of eating french fries.

Wow!  We all knew junk food is bad for you, but this takes it to a whole new level.

The good news: we can change what and how we eat. Hypnosis and NLP! This is what I’ve done for myself. No french fries or other risky food choices in years. Hypnosis can vanish cravings.  Hypnosis can help you install a focus and ferocious tenacity for healthy.

Feel Great and Lose Weight — In that Order!

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

I came across this interesting photo and article on the internet, about so called “Body Positivity.” Embracing obesity as attractive.

While I applaud people for finding a place in themselves where they feel good, I know there’s a way to feel good about yourself AND achieve a healthier weight.  It’s called hypnosis.

Overweight almost my entire life, “body positivity” did not exist during my formative years. Actually, people that liked fat, that was considered some kind of weird fetish. So, I don’t go there. I can’t. Overweight is not attractive to me.  And even if you successfully convince yourself that overweight is attractive, there’s no denying the health risks. Overweight will shorten your life!

I didn’t like how I looked, and I KNEW it wasn’t healthy. I’m glad I never fell into a “body positivity” mindset.  Oherwise, I wouldn’t be enjoying the health and energy I’ve been enjoying for the past 10 years at a lighter weight.  A better quality of life.  Knowing I’m going to have MORE life.  What happened to me 10 years ago that changed my life and changed my body? I discovered hypnosis.

Hypnosis & NLP for effective long term weight loss. And I lost weight.  Skilled Hypnotherapy and NLP make weight loss easier than you think. It’s based on HOW you think. I’m now lighter (a LOT) and have kept it off for about 10 years. Here’s my before/after pics and an article, Feel Great & Lose Weight, that I’ve written about the transformation:

Feel Great & Lose Weight

“Fat acceptance.”  Acceptance usually means, it’s something I can’t change.  In terms of your weight and eating and health habits, that’s false.  You can change.  I can help you do it.

Learn more if you’d like one on one private sessions of Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy® to help you find your healthy.

Another 5-Star Yelp Review for Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP

Another Happy Review of Seattle's Best Hypnotherapy and NLP
Another Success Story

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

Vicki of Bellevue, WA is sharing her success after working with me. She’s healthier, and lighter by 77 pounds in a matter of months.  She wrote a review on the business review site, Yelp. She’s a happy camper. She gives Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP 5-stars, as good as it gets. Here’s what she wrote:

“Vicki M.
Bellevue, WA
5.0 star rating 2/6/2017

In July, 2016 I was hospitalized with blood clots in my lungs. After I got discharged I decided to start taking better care of myself. A friend of mine referred to me Connie. I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. As of today, I have lost 77 pounds. I have been on many different diets over the years, and now I eat what I like but I recognize when I am full. Due to the weight loss it has helped with reducing the clots and an extra plus, I started out in a size 16 and now wear a 6.”

That’s awesome.  A few months of healthier choices, and she’s improved her health dramatically.  Size 16 to a size 6!!  Good job, Vicki.

So, what is this thing called hypnotherapy?  It’s you, finding power and resourcefulness within yourself.  I guide you to it (it’s absolutely there), and you get to use it to accomplish things.  What kind of things?  ANY things.  Weight loss is one, such as Vicki worked. Habit change such as quit smoking or alcohol is one.  Dumping a phobia is one.  Sports improvement is one.  More productivity at work is one.  More confidence in relationships is one.  And so on, the list is endless.

And one change has a way of cascading in the mind into even more healthy and desired changes.  The brain gets excited and says:  “Yay, me!  I’m powerful.  What else shall I do to create more Joy?”

I’m happy when my clients share their success.  In fact, we were just recognized by Yelp as one of the highest reviewed businesses in 2016.  That’s right.  When you find what you are passionate about and love to do (I did) and you are good at it (I am), well that’s joy for me.  Hypnosis is my joy.  I’d love to share it with you, anytime.

Call me at 425-564-8608 and we’ll set up a free consultation meeting.

I was asked to share my expertise in hypnosis by Bellevue College.  Number one, by teaching courses there.  Yes, I do.  (Two courses coming up next month!)  In addition, last week they contacted me to be a contributor on their blog.  To write something for their readers!

Well, those of you who may follow THIS blog know that writing is “my thing.”  I jumped at the opportunity.  It also supports my personal goal  of enlarging the world’s understanding of this so-misunderstood treasure-trove of power called “hypnosis.”

Here’s what I wrote:  Self-Hypnosis: A tool for life success!

Here’s an excerpt:

“Everybody has the ability inside their unconscious mind to create a new world. The one they want! The one that’s joy-filled, successful, happy, free, fun, and all the things people want for themselves. We activate change through this part of our mind.  Hypnosis unlocks positive change and unleashes potential. Why not use ALL of your brain for a change?”

I’m excited to teach these brief courses next month.  If you’d like to find out more, here are the links to Bellevue College Continuing Ed’s website.

Resolve this: Hypnosis for Weight Loss

It’s a Weighty Issue – Food Choice, Portion Control, and Motivation to Exercise

Connie Brannan, CHt. & Licensed Trainer of NLP® shares her personal and professional insights into success with weight management.  Connie has used the tools of NLP Neuro Linguistic Programming and self hypnosis to transform herself:

It’s a Weighty Issue – Part I: Food Choice

It seems that a large percentage of the population is thinking about their weight and dieting at any given moment, reading about this new diet, that new food plan, purchasing diet products, and/or in the midst of dieting. Our weight truly is a national obsession.

So, why do diets and food plans fail so miserably to help people achieve a healthy weight and stay there? A “diet” is a conscious (thinking) endeavor. It involves analysis, logic, and willpower.  That can’t cut it long term.

There’s more power in the mind beyond thinking.  We are driven by unconscious (outside of awareness) desires.

We THINK we know why we do what we do. And we’d be wrong. Weight management and issues therein are a complex web beyond conscious choices They involve unconscious patterns of behaviors, and embedded beliefs about ourselves and the world that can limit us. These unconscious drivers are just that, unconscious, beyond our awareness. They get embedded in us and like a program installed on a computer they run and run and run.

What is the benefit of hypnotherapy for weight loss? We can actually get in there and address and change these patterns of unconscious behaviors and limiting beliefs. Update the programs running in us. Change how we feel and what we do. These changes lead to long-term sustained weight loss success and weight management.

Weight loss is a weighty issue. Yes, it is. There’s a lot involved. In my office working with clients we address a variety of changes that may be useful. I’m planning a series of essays which I intend to share here and on my blog, dealing with the issues hypnosis helps such as food choice, portion control, emotional eating, motivation to exercise, self image, negative self talk, limiting beliefs, time management and priorities, and more aspects of the weight management puzzle.

The number one change needed on everybody’s list is food choice — is there a predilection toward sugars and sweets? And/or too many carbs such as pasta, pizza, and potatoes? Not enough vegies? Drinking enough water? I’ve heard it all, uncontrollable attraction to unhealthy choices, such as cookies, chocolate, candy, cake, donuts, sugary sodas, French fries, chips, etc. And the gamut of ho-hum all the way to aversion responses to healthy choices.

Willpower alone can’t cut it!  What is willpower? It activates during the “I want it” vs. “No, I’m not going to have it.” struggle. We’re torn between two competing desires. Willpower is the conscious mind taking control and activating a conscious decision. Usually, it’s the “no.” Willpower is weak. Willpower is difficult to maintain long term (yo-yo dieting proves this).

With skilled hypnosis, we erase the need for willpower altogether. Let me say that again. We get rid of any need for willpower. Willpower is forced to the surface when there’s a struggle. What if there were no struggle? What if your brain just said “no” automatically? There’d be no use for willpower and it wouldn’t even come into play. You’d just be doing something different because it feels right.

For example: I have no interest or desire to jump out of an airplane for sport. NONE. In fact, it’s not going to happen. It’s on my “no way” list. Do I obsess about jumping out of an airplane? Of course not. It never enters my mind. Do I struggle to force myself not to jump? Of course not. Do I jump? No. It’s not what I do. What if eating unhealthy became a “no” rather than a struggle? That’s what skilled hypnotherapy achieves. Will power goes back on the shelf. Don’t need it!  We move beyond the willpower struggle.

Here are some of my client results/comments regarding activation of this change:

“Hi Connie, Just had to send along this spread of the party I was at last night. All of the things I find the hardest to resist!

My self esteem skyrocketed.  It’s been months since I’ve seen you and yet I’m still right on track with my goals.” E. – Seattle. Is her willpower in play? No.

“I don’t crave ice cream at all now!  Or chocolate.  I am in shock!!!”– Saliha B., Issaquah, WA.  Is her willpower in play? No.

I hope you get the picture here. These people are not “dieting” to avoid sweets and “temptations” and they’re not struggling, they’re just automatically choosing different in ways that serve their weight management success. That’s what skilled hypnosis can do. Hypnosis creates the positive changes that move people by addressing and changing the unconscious patterns. No diet can do that.

Hypnosis stops overeating.
Hypnosis stops overeating

It’s a Weighty Issue – Part II:  When to Say When

I love helping people with weight loss. People come into my office and itemize their issues: what they eat, when they eat, why they eat (when they’re not hungry), how fast they eat, and all the accompanying aspects of self image and internal dialog, limiting beliefs, and so on. Many things need tweaking for success.

The topic of the moment is: Portion Control. When to say when. How to become attuned to the right amount of food for your body and energy needs. How to eat less and enjoy it more. Here is part two of my continuing essays on the various aspects of the “Weighty Issue” of weight loss and weight management, and the successes to be had through Neuro Linguistic Hypnotherapy.

Our mind has unconscious strategies for everything we do. How we act, how we think, what we choose, what we perceive as real. We acquire these strategies through learning. They become embedded in us like programs running on a computer, which we then call “habits.” Habits are learned, and they can be unlearned.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP–a conversational hypnosis) studies successful unconscious strategies, and we can grab, install, and live those strategies in ourselves. In studies of naturally slender people, we have successfully gathered naturally slender food strategies. Via NLP and hypnosis, we can install these into people who would benefit from them. This is a necessary piece of the work I do with clients! A client can adopt an unconscious new strategy and find themselves engaging in new behaviors without any mental effort.

We get clients in tune with physical hunger vs. emotional hunger. The mind can notice the difference. Emotional hunger is “fed” in new non-caloric ways. Physical hunger leads to a healthy choice strategy in the mind, meaning you’re more likely to reach for an apple rather than a cookie, a salad rather than a cheeseburger and fries. We implant a speed strategy, how fast to eat. Slowing it down is usually helpful. We implant a beverage of choice strategy: water! And then most importantly, we implant an exit strategy. When to STOP EATING. This is set at the point of satisfaction, when the body’s nutritional and energy needs are met in accordance with achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.

There are, sadly, desperate people out in the world who don’t realize the control they have over their own minds and bodies, and they go to bizarre extremes like surgeries that attempt to PHYSICALLY limit food intake. That’s not necessary! Installing new unconscious strategies with hypnosis creates better success, without the expense or health risks.

When it’s all said and done, the weight loss client finds themselves engaging in:

–Less emotional eating

–Healthier choices

–Smaller portions

–More satisfaction.

It’s all good.

If your unconscious strategies (habits around food) need adjustment, it’s so much easier than you think to make healthy changes.

It’s a Weighty Issue, Part III:  Let’s Get Moving

Motivation to Exercise with Hypnosis
Motivation to Exercise with Hypnosis

Beyond food choice and portion control, motivation to exercise is high up on the list of changes desired for weight management. “Let’s get physical, physical! I wanna get physical …” That song with its driving beat makes me think of movement. Working out.  Active life. Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy is a way to make it happen.

Patterns and habits are learned. And, if they don’t serve us, they can be re-learned differently, in ways that help.

Here’s one unwanted pattern that I often see with clients:  couch potato. Are you one? That’s a person who has developed a habit of sitting around, watching TV or surfing the web, with a body at rest for hours at a stretch. Oftentimes, this is coupled with mindless eating. That’s a sure fire formula for obesity.

With hypnosis and NLP, we can change “I’m too lazy” and couch-potato habits into a new mindset about exercise. A new mindset leads to new behaviors. In our work, we create and install new, useful mindsets for exercise. Here are some examples:

–I love it. It’s fun.

Or…

–It’s my routine. It’s just who I am and what I do.

Or…

–I have to. (a sense of urgency and necessity)

Or…

A combination of any of the above.

New beliefs go with the new mindset:

–I’m an active person. I’m a healthy person. I have energy. I make the time to be physically active, as this is something wonderful for me. This is “me” time. I deserve healthy.

And new behaviors emerge:

I go to the gym. I go for walks. I find the time. I look for opportunities for movement, taking the stairs rather than the elevator, parking a little further from the store front, and so on.

Hypnosis (and in that word I include NLP) is a way to change your thinking and feeling and behaviors and beliefs to become who you want to be. It really is endlessly fascinating work as every person is different and their desires , beliefs and motivations are different. The game and the fun is finding what will work with each individual and installing those changes. This is why I often say hypnosis is an art form as much as it is a science.

Motivation to be active physically is just one piece of this puzzle, within a larger framework of healthy changes.  Everyone on the planet knows how to lose weight. It’s a very simple and well-documented formula. Eat less, make healthy choices, and be more active. What stops you? We find out and we address those things and create new habits. The power of hypnosis and NLP is that they are tools that encourage new healthy behaviors, and help people automate those choices.

Happy and healthy with hypnosis.

More Weight Loss Success – Another Client Story

Another Happy Review of Seattle's Best Hypnotherapy and NLP
Another Success Story

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

I received another happy hypnosis client report this week.  Good changes are rolling for Gina, from Seattle:

“So excited to see you again – I’ve been feeling so great since our last session – I don’t use a scale, but I can tell the way my clothes are fitting that I’m getting slimmer. I happily take the stairs at work between floors every time, I’m eating healthy and just the right amounts – all sorts of good stuff, and feeling great about it!! 🙂 It’s working magnificently!! So – I’m excited to work on my next goal 🙂 ” – -Gina Cornwall., Seattle, WA

Yay, for success.  You go, Girl!

Weight loss is a very complex thing, lots of moving parts that we tweak with hypnosis and NLP:  new food choices  (things to eat more of, things to stay away from), portion control–when to say when, upping motivation to exercise, improving self image, optimizing metabolism, increasing water consumption, and so on…  Of all these needed tweaks the biggest is: tenacity for healthy.  If you’ve got it, we enhance it.  If you don’t have it, we install it.

Tenacity.  Sustained action.  That’s called “doing it.”  The difference between mere desire and success.  For weight loss, and for life!

Weight loss success Connie Brannan.
Making changes!

I know all about successful weight loss, it’s “my thing” as they say.  Living it.  Gina avoids the scale, and that’s OK.  There are other ways to measure success, how clothes fit, energy in daily activities, your face and body in the mirror, and more.  I weigh myself every day nowadays, and my current goal is maintenance. After losing a ton of weight, I want to hold where I’m at.  I’m doing it!  🙂  The numbers on the scale have been pretty consistent for the past couple months.  I’m gearing up for another round of losing more weight, slow, steady, consistent.  I’ve got about another 10 pounds to go.

Tenacity.  One of the “secrets” I’ve developed at Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP is how to activate tenacity.  Long term.  Clients get the benefit of this.  Part of the artistry (and effectiveness) of this work is the way a hypnotist creates new things– some do and some don’t.  Some approach this work as a paint-by-numbers affair and read a pre-packaged script at you, and some are true creative artists creating for you from their imagination, life experience, hypnotic skillset, and facility with language.  I’m a word artist.  We paint pictures in the mind with words.  And those pictures become so motivating that life changes for the better.

As they say, the proof is in the pudding.  What results are my clients getting?  Gina is one example.  Here are over 200 more:  http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net/hypnosis-results-testimonials-index/

Cindi of Kirkland Shares Hypnosis for Weight Loss Success

Seattle hypnosis for weight loss
Another happy Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP client.

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

I love it when my hypnosis clients are thrilled with their unfolding lifestyle changes.  That makes me happy as well.  Here’s a commentary of successful changes shared by one of my weight loss hypnosis clients, Cindi, of Kirkland, Washington.  She’s lost five pounds in two weeks without “trying.”

Does skilled hypnotherapy work? Here’s more proof of the pudding.  I’m sharing a brief highlight video, as well as the full transcript of Cindi’s comments, below:

“I’m feeling great! In the last couple of weeks I’ve lost five pounds. And I don’t really feel like I’ve been “trying,” which is great! Here’s what I’m noticing:

• I’ve been waking up in the morning, and I have lots of energy.

In the past if I didn’t feel like making dinner, I would be thinking about where can I go to pick up something to eat quick.

Connie made the process really easy and simple.”  — Cindi, Kirkland, WA weight loss client testimonial 6-12-15.

Yay, Cindi!  Good job!  Now all you’ve got to do is keep it going, all the way to your ultimate healthy goals  And I know you can and you are!  What’s nice about hypnosis is that once you enter that focused on success mindset, you’re there!  You’re doing it. Healthy eating even gathers power and momentum, like a snowball rolling down the side of a snow-covered hill.  Yay, for hypnosis!

Weight loss hypnotherapy is just one of the services we offer.  Hypnosis is for everyone!  It’s for everyday people seeking everyday goals.  And it works. Find out more anytime.  Call me!  (425) 564-8608.

Negative Health Effects of Obesity in the News Again

Hypnosis helps with overweight.
Hypnosis helps with overweight.

Who’s following this story?  It’s the New Jersey Governor and his public outcry over a Doctor’s suggestion that a lighter weight is healthier.  He had pulled out a donut on the Letterman show and joked about his weight.

http://news.yahoo.com/jerseys-christie-fires-back-doctor-over-weight-comments-020421612.html

This story is interesting to me. Here is another person with “fat denial.” He thinks he’s healthy.  Obese and healthy are mutually incompatible. I’m on the side of the doctor with this one. This reminds me of another recent news article about a 420 pound lady who was proud of her 85 inch hips and thought it was marvelous.

The physician wasn’t making comments on this man’s character traits or lifestyle, she was making comments on the dangers and negative consequences of obesity.  She was also commenting on the danger of taking heaviness lightly.  As she says:  “It’s not a laughing matter.”

I don’t go in for political discussions, however I feel like saying: some people might approve of politicians in power keeling over any moment. I don’t support that as a good idea, or politicians who take unneeded health risks.

Christie talks about his lifelong struggle to lose weight.  What if it weren’t a struggle?  What if there were a way to make it easy and natural to get healthy?

Before and After Hypnosis
Before and After Hypnosis

There is.  It’s called “hypnosis.”  I know whereof I speak!  I know how to lose weight, and if people would notice what hypnosis can do for this issue, they’d see it’s not the “struggle” they think it is.  Check out the picture.  This is me and me.  I’ve maintained a healthier weight for years now.

If you’d like to end your personal struggle with weight and find an easier way, that feels comfortable and natural (no surgeries or drugs involved), click here:  http://www.loseweightseattle.com/ or call me.

The Hypnotic Spread — Success, that is!

Walt Disney was a hypnotist?

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

“Life has improved drastically.”  One of the interesting things about hypnosis and Neuro Linguistic Programming is their power to “generalize” success into several areas of life simultaneously.  This often happens.  A positive change does not happen inside a vacuum, it happens inside a life, and life is movement and connections, with fingers which reach and intertwine and grow.

One healthy change leads to more healthy changes.  🙂  Once your mind gets rolling in that way (the purpose of what I do–focusing your mind on success), well, the desired changes happen quickly.  And spread more success.  The testimonial below is from a woman who got more than she bargained for when she came in for hypnosis.

Here is Kelli Zielinksi’s report of the dramatic changes she’s noticing in her life after a few sessions of Neuro Linguistic Hypnotherapy:

“Hi Connie, I’m doing fabulously! Working with you has absolutely changed my life, here’s some things I’ve noticed:

-Much more relaxed and focused; I’m able to deal with situations better than before when I get stressed, and am able to get into a state of calm when I need to.  My working life has improved drastically

-I’m sleeping properly!  I love that I sleep so much better; not only am I off the medication I used to have to take almost  nightly to help me sleep, I also find that the sleep I get is a lot deeper.

-Dropped two pant sizes

-Eating appropriate portions

-Drinking more water

-Increased motivation to exercise

I’ve lost weight, but the best part is not worrying so much about the weight. Instead, I’m focusing on healthy habits, and the rest is just working itself out. I feel like I’m in control and have the right priorities, rather than worrying so much about comparing myself to others. It’s a great feeling!

-Kelli”

Way to go, Kelli!  Thank you for sharing your success and allowing me to share it with the world here on my blog and website.  Yes, hypnosis works.  It has an effect.  It changes lives for the better.  It’s amazing.  It’s power.  Not the hypnotist’s power, it’s the client’s mind that has the power.  Kelli did this, amazingly well.  Yay, Kelli!

With the right tools, success is easy.  Find yours.

Warm Regards,
Connie

Does Hypnosis Work? You Betcha!

I had a weight loss client who gave me very strange feedback.  She had come in originally in a total depressed funk, couldn’t lose weight, couldn’t get motivated, couldn’t stick to a food plan.  Had tried and failed numerous times.  Feeling lousy and lacking confidence in herself.

We did some fantastic work, and she began shifting her thinking and her habits.  Eating less, feeling more motivated to exercise, choosing healthy, feeling happier in her life and more empowered.  I was very pleased with our work.

I called her to follow up with her a month or so after her last session (she had a total of 3 with me).  She said (amazingly):

“I’m sad to say the hypnosis didn’t work.  I’ve lost 29 pounds so far and I feel super confident that I’m going to achieve everything I want for my healthy life and lose all the weight I want.  But it’s nothing to do with the hypnosis.  It’s just that my nutritionist found me a good food plan, and it’s so easy and automatic for me to stick with it, that’s why I’m doing so well and losing all the weight I want…”

Here she is describing exactly the success we’d been working on creating and telling me “it didn’t work.”  The hypnosis absolutely DID work.  Minus 29 pounds is amazing success!!  And the hypnosis is still working.  She had food plans before, they didn’t help her.  Changing her thinking/feeling/doing helped her.

I’ve run into this before.  In some people the conscious mind is blind to changes and wants to think it’s something else (besides hypnosis) that accounts for success.  Hypnosis is what allowed her to STICK on the food plan, and in such a graceful and easy manner.  Hypnosis done well leads to changes that feel automatic and easy.

I do hypnosis well.  I wrote back to her congratulating her on her success.  🙂

Does hypnosis work?  Amazingly well, and often in so powerful and streamlined a manner that you forget how life used to be.

Discover your own success–Michael and I are ready to help!

Warm Regards,
Connie

Protection from The Power of Pie

Hello, Hypno-Friends!

How to you like the new look of my blog?  I wanted a new “Fall Into Change” banner, as I LOVE  this time of year and the colors of autumn leaves.   This is my time of year.

Pumpkin Pie Overdose?

I was reading an article about Thanksgiving, and about PIE in particular.  America’s love affair with pie.  Apple pie, pumpkin pie, rhubarb pie, you name it.  Blackberry pie.  The pie council conducted a survey about America’s pie habits, who likes what and how often.  I read a shocking and startling statement, right there in bold ink:

“1 in 5 Americans have eaten an entire pie by themselves.”

Wow.  Pie is homey, pie is celebration, but a whole pie???  Was it in one sitting, I wonder…  Wow.  Sounds like overindulgence.

If you’re one of the 20% of Americans with that kind of eating capacity and proclivity, and if you also have packed on any extra pounds by way of pie overdose…guess what?  Hypnosis can help.  I can help.  Hypnosis works!  My company is Mindworks Hypnosis and I’ll get you back on track to healthy eating faster than you can imagine.

If you’re worried about overindulging this Thanksgiving, think about this:  Hypnosis for weight loss and weight management.  It’s what I do.  It’s what I know.  It’s my own story as well, although I have never eaten a whole pie.  Check out the before and after picture of me!  This is how I know hypnosis works, I’ve used it.

Hypnosis works for weight loss.

I was fond of those little individual Hostess pies–lemon in particular.  Haven’t had one in years, and that’s a good thing.

If you need pie protection in advance of November 24th, I can help!  Absolutely yes.  If you want to be satisfied with one piece, we can do that.  I you want none, we can do that.  If you want to be motivated to go exercise on Black Friday, we can do that.  Tell me what you want, and I’ll help you do it.

Have a happy and healthy Holiday!

Free World Hypnotism Day Events – January 22nd @ the Coast Hotel in Bellevue

Learn more about hypnosis!

Hi, Guys! I’m a member of the NGHWA, that’s the National Guild of Hypnotists, Washington State Chapter.  We’re the local chapter of the NGH, a national professional organization of hypnotists and hypno-therapists.  It’s the oldest and most prestigious hypnosis organization in the United States. We are dedicated to furthering the understanding and acceptance of hypnotism as a healing tool.  I’m all for that!!

The NGH has created a worldwide event, called World Hypnotism Day, which happens in January.  My chapter is a part of that, and I’m a part of it as well.  I’ll be giving two, possibly three talks at our local “doings.”  🙂  One is absolutely FREE to all, and it’s on the topic of HYPNOSIS FOR WEIGHT LOSS.  (You know I know whereof I speak on this topic, I’m living that success!)  I’m also giving a paid talk/training to area professional hypnotists as part of this event–to enhance their skill sets in this same area, helping people to let go of weight with hypnosis.  There are several speakers, and several talks and experiential workshops.  Who wants to come down, learn more, and get hypnotized?  There’s also a complimentary continental breakfast for attendees, prizes, and a free comedy hypnosis show.

Learn more about our group’s event and register for it here:   http://www.nghwa.org/World-Hypnotism-Day-2011.html

I do hope you’ll join us.  It will be masses of fun for those interested in learning more about hypnosis, experiencing some hypnosis, and hobnobbing with hypnotists.  It’s Saturday, January 22nd.  10:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Stay for one talk, two, more, or stay the whole day.  Your choice!  We’d love to have you attend!

Warm Regards,
Connie

More Musings About Weight Loss

Connie Brannan, Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist
Connie Brannan, Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.  TRUE!  But I have some more words to say about this as well.  I’m still thinking about weight and body image and self esteem and confidence and health and how hypnosis can improve all those things.  Unrecognizably so, in some cases.  Hypnosis works.  Fantastically well.  On so many things.  But…especially, weight loss.  That’s a topic dear to my heart.  And hips.  And chin (singular nowadays).

I’ve been having a slew of weight loss clients lately.  And, you know, I LOVE THAT!  Love it.  They’re not waiting until the first of the year and New Year’s Resolutions, they’re moving forward on what they want.  NOW!  I love that.  When you’re ready, you’re ready.  Are any of you out there ready to change your life?  You can, you know.  And it’s not magic, and it’s not voo doo and it’s also not horrifically difficult–it’s simply you doing what you want.  Do you want to lose weight?  I can help.  My tools can help.  Those tools are hypnosis and NLP Neuro-Linguistic Programming ™.

I often get together with groups of hypnotists, at trainings and at professional meetings.  I’m not mentioning any names, but you know, there are some seriously obese hypnotists out there selling weight loss services.  In my book, that’s incongruent.  They aren’t “walking the talk.”  I am.  I do.  I wouldn’t go to a chain smoking hypnotist to quit tobacco, either.

If you want serious, passionate, compassionate (I’ve been there, believe it!), dedicated, KNOWLEDGABLE, successful help with this issue, I’m your hypnotist.  I know fat.  I know all about it.  A lifetime of knowing.  Until I learned something else.  Not fat.  I can teach you not fat.  Come learn with me!  🙂

Wishing you health and success this holiday season,
Connie

Cleaning out the closets

Connie Brannan, CHt., Master Hypnotist
Connie Brannan, CHt., Master Hypnotist

The topic is weight loss!  Mine, in particular.  See, I’ve been using my own tools, hypnosis and NLP to work on my own “stuff.”  Lifelong stuff.  And…I’m happy to report:  it’s working!  Going great!  🙂  I’m now officially half my former size.  I’m not going to say the NUMBERS because it’s not primarily about the numbers, in my mind.  In fact, I don’t even weigh myself.  It’s about how I feel.  How I look.  Energy!  Vitality!  Life!  Those things are improving every day.

Thus, time to clean out the closets.  I went through my clothes closet the other day, trying things on that I haven’t looked at since last winter, to see if my favorite coats and sweaters were something to keep or donate.  Most were “donate!”  Some of them looked like clown suits on me, so large.  I thought about keeping one, as a reminder, but no–off they go!  I said “goodbye” (literally and out loud) to several garments that I had particularly loved.  My brown suede blazer.  Goodbye!  My black wool “peacoat.”  Goodbye!  A favorite embroidered and beaded sweater which was hanging long on me like a dress.  Goodbye!

Letting go is good.  Letting go of things that are no longer needed or useful.  Like the extra weight.  Goodbye!

Gird yourself.  🙂  Now, the sales pitch!!  🙂  I love helping people with this issue of weight.  Because I know all about it.  I understand it.  I’m living it!  I’ve been dealing with it all my life.  And now, I know first hand how powerful and successful the tools of hypnosis and NLP are in managing it, by quickly changing patterns and habits, changing thoughts, changing feelings, streamlining change in such natural, healthy ways that lets you feel good about yourself, your life, and your capabilities.  I love it!  Absolutely.

If you’re struggling with this issue, and have “tried everything,”  (by the way, “try” = failure.) then perhaps it’s time to stop trying and start doing.  Hypnosis is a fantastic way of doing change!  It’s not “talk therapy,” it’s action therapy.  If you’re serious about getting yourself on that right path, the one you want and deserve, I can help.  Call me!  All my contact info is here:

This is what I do, and I’m damn good at it!

Now, I’m going to put myself out there and show a “fat picture” to the world.  Here’s a pic of me from a few years ago, pre-hypnosis, and here’s me a few days ago, trying on my “pirate vixen” Halloween costume.  🙂  As they say, the camera don’t lie!
