Sharing another Mindworks Hypnosis client success story.  This gentleman was suffering anxiety and panic.  We’ve been working it and life is getting better.  Here is his report:

Hypnosis Success Story: Goodbye to Anxiety

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

I thought I’d share a recent client’s email to me:

“Connie, Thank you so much for the session I had with you today, l have already noticed a significant difference in my anxiety! You are very gifted in your craft. Thank you again, Warren R.”

Other therapies out there imply that change is difficult.  Change is a struggle.  Change takes time.  Perhaps years.  Hogwash!

With the right tools and a skilled artist-practitioner, change is easy.   And immediate!  Those right tools are hypnosis and NLP Neuro-Linguistic Programming.  The skilled practitioner is me.  🙂  Warren is a recent client suffering with a lifetime of anxiety, and he’s impressed after ONE session together, approximately 1.5 hours of Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy.

In the office in the course of work, we teach the mind/body to transform anxiety out and new, more resourceful states of mind/body in.   Designer Feelings®.  Warren chose:  Calm, relaxed, confident, happy, optimistic, and more.  Anxiety fled.  I asked him (testing our work in office) to “try and get anxious right now.  Try to turn on the anxiety.  You could do it prior to our work.”  Warren’s response:  “I can’t.”  Those words are music to my ears.

He doesn’t choose it, on an unconscious level.  Conscious mind analysis, and chitchat, and seeking of WHY? and boo-hoo into a kleenex doesn’t remove anxiety, a new option on a platter offered to the unconscious mind does.

“I can’t!”  (generate anxiety)  We call that a success story.

“Oh, so that’s what you look like!”

CDC says fully vaccinated can ditch the masks.Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

The masks are optional!  Per CDC guidelines yesterday, we are now operating Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP much more as “normal.”  Hypnosis and NLP are communication games, and for effective communication, it’s really best to see each other’s faces, and hear voices clearly, and interact closely.   For 15 months, that’s been difficult.

Michael and I are fully vaccinated, and have been for many weeks.  For anyone who has not been, we encourage it!

Yesterday, the masks were OFF.  Of course, if a client feels more comfortable for now continuing with a mask, we can do that.  But, judging from yesterday’s batch of clients, everyone’s happier to ditch the masks.  One client:  “Oh, so that’s what you look like!”  Another client after the hypnosis interlude (her third session):  “That was different.”  And better.  I was sitting closer, speaking mind to mind.

In NLP we have a saying, “he who is most flexible wins.”  So, whatever makes you comfortable while in our office working with us, we can do that.  We still have the many, many bottles of hand sanitizer to hand out and boxes of masks on hand.

Relief!

Your Brain is Listening

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

My niece is on Facebook.  So am I.  I noticed her post the other day: “I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired.”  I gave my Auntie Hypnotist unsolicited advice:

“STOP IT!  Stop telling yourself that you’re sick and tired. Your mind/body can and will follow your instructions and manifest what you focus on.  When you focus on illness “I’m sick and tired” your mind/body says: “Well, OK, if that’s what you want…I’ll get it for you!”

How would you rather feel? Healthy? More energetic? Focus on that.”  Apparently, my niece is a very persuasive hypnotist inside herself.  It’s just time to change the hypnotic suggestion.

This phenomenon of negative affirmations taking root in the body is called “organ language.”  When you give your body instructions as to how to feel, your unconscious mind is listening attentively.  And does its best to create what you want.  Or, what it thinks you want.  Your unconscious mind is very literal.  Where attention goes, energy flows. Or, expressed differently, you get what you think about..

Here are some examples of organ language to avoid. Scan your own patterns and see if you use any of these.

“That makes me sick!”  Direct language instructing your brain and body to create illness.  Don’t say it! (I was guilty of the above. But now I say instead: “That just UPS my metabolism!”

“He’s a back-stabber!” “He’s a pain in the neck.” “She’s a real pain in the behind.”  You are telling yourself to have pain in those areas.

“I’m so mad I can’t see straight.”  You’re asking for vision problems.

“He makes my blood boil.”  You’re asking for high blood pressure.

“Her nonsense makes my head spin.” Here comes dizzy.

I had a co-worker once who had a habitual phrase: “I have no clue.” She was very confused, frequently.

“I’m heart-broken.”  No!  Just, no.

Hypno tip of the day:  Focus on the flip side of illness and physical distress in your language to self. Protect yourself from negative affirmations by focusing on healthy.

Another negative suggestion we tell ourselves: “It’s cold and flu season.”  Reject that idea. Rather, say to yourself: “It’s healthy time!  I feel so good.  I always stay healthy.”
Listen to yourself and notice if/when you give yourself negative suggestions of pain and discomfort and illness which instructs your body to help manifest that.  And then stop it and think of how you’d rather feel.  Something good, I mean!

It couldn’t hurt.  Just do it!

What is hypnosis?  There are lots of misunderstandings about it floating around in the world, to the point that different arts use it but call it something else. “Guided Meditation.” “Visualization.” “Dream Sculpting.” “Inner State Processing.”  and so on. People fear the name Hypnosis, thinking it’s something dark and weird. No!

Here’s what it is: It’s an effective tool to actuate the best in us by communicating with the unconscious mind, where our power lies. And it’s an amazing, wonderful connection. It’s the realm of imagination, creativity, and resourcefulness. Albert Einstein knew it.

Eat Wise Drop A Size (or More)

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

“Stay at home” has done massive good in containing the virus.  However, it has also had a negative consequence for individuals:  Covid weight gain.

We know why.  Less activity, less healthy food options, comfort and stress eating, etc.

Now, the world is opening up again and it’s time to get our minds into healthy habits.  That’s the work we do!  I’ve written up my plan to help, and it’s below:

FOOD CHOICE

Our weight truly is a national obsession:  thinking about weight, studying this new diet, that new food plan, purchasing diet products, looking for “the cure.”.

Unfortunately, diets and food plans fail miserably in helping people achieve a healthy weight and staying there.  Why? A “diet” is a conscious (thinking) endeavor. It involves analysis, logic, and willpower.  That cannot cut it long term.  In our habits, we are really at the mercy of unconscious motivations.

We THINK we know why we do what we do. And we would be wrong. Weight gain and loss involve unconscious patterns of behaviors, “back behind the curtain” embedded beliefs about ourselves and the world that drive us. They run and run in us and like programs installed on a computer.

Why hypnosis for weight loss? We can actually get in there and address and change these patterns of unconscious behaviors and limiting beliefs. Update the programs running in us. Change how we feel and what we do. These changes lead to long-term sustained weight loss success and weight management.

Willpower alone can’t cut it!  Willpower activates during the “I want it” vs. “No, I’m not going to have it.” struggle. We are torn between two competing desires. Willpower is weak. Willpower is difficult to maintain long term (yo-yo dieting proves this).

With skilled hypnosis & NLP, we erase the need for willpower altogether. Let me say that again. We get rid of any need for willpower. Willpower is forced to the surface when there is a struggle. What if there were no struggle? What if your brain just said “no” automatically to the unhealthy choices? There’d be no use for willpower, and it wouldn’t even come into play. You would just be doing something different because it feels right.

Is her willpower in play? No. The craving for these particular food choices is gone.

Is her willpower in play? No.

These people are not “dieting” to avoid sweets and “temptations” and they are not struggling; they’re just automatically choosing different in ways that serve their weight management success. That is what skilled hypnosis can do. Hypnosis creates the positive changes that move people by addressing and changing the unconscious patterns. No diet can do that.

PORTION CONTROL  Here’s an important aspect of weight loss:  knowing when to say when. How to become attuned to the right amount of food for your body and energy needs. How to eat less and enjoy it more.

Habits are learned, and they can be unlearned.  At Mindworks, healthy habits are installed.  A client can adopt an unconscious new strategy and find themselves engaging in new behaviors without any mental effort.

We get clients in tune with physical hunger vs. emotional hunger. The mind can notice the difference. Emotional hunger is “fed” in new non-caloric ways. Physical hunger leads to a healthy choice strategy in the mind, meaning you are more likely to reach for an apple rather than a cookie, a salad rather than a cheeseburger and fries. We implant a speed strategy, how fast to eat. Slowing it down is usually helpful. We implant a beverage of choice strategy: water! And then most importantly, we implant an exit strategy. When to STOP EATING. This is set at the point of satisfaction when the body’s nutritional and energy needs are met in accordance with achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.

When it is all said and done, Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP weight loss clients find themselves engaging in:

–Less emotional eating  –Healthier choices –Smaller portions –More satisfaction.

It’s all good.  If your unconscious strategies (habits around food) need adjustment, it is so much easier than you think to make healthy changes.  Let me help!

EXERCISE   Beyond food choice and portion control, motivation to exercise is high up on the list of changes needed.  “Let’s get physical” Movement. Working out.  Active life. Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy is a way to make it happen.

The “magic” of NLP is, simply put: We can attach new feelings to any activity.

What would it be like to be full of energy and motivation to exercise? What if exercise became something wonderful and pleasurable and eagerly anticipated? What if your mind simply said: “This is who I am and this is what I do”? Do you suppose it would be easier to increase your physical activity level?

Let’s fight the Covid couch potato syndrome. That’s being sedentary in our work, and after.  Too much sitting around, watching TV, surfing the web, with a body at rest for hours at a stretch. When you add in stress eating, that’s a sure-fire formula for gaining weight.

With hypnosis and NLP, we can change habits into a new mindset for exercise. A new mindset leads to new behaviors. In our work, we create and install new, useful mindsets for exercise. Here are some examples:

–I love it. It’s fun  –It’s my routine. It’s just who I am and what I do. –I have to. (a sense of urgency and necessity)

New beliefs and behaviors go with the new mindset:

“I’m an active person. I’m a healthy person. I have energy. I make the time to be physically active, as this is something wonderful for me. This is “me” time. I deserve healthy.  I work out. I go for walks. I look for opportunities for movement.”

Hypnosis (and in that word I include NLP) is a way to change your thinking and feeling and behaviors and beliefs to become who you want to be. It really is endlessly fascinating work as every person is different and their desires, beliefs and motivations are different. The game and the fun is finding what will work with each individual and installing those changes. Therefore I often say hypnosis is an art form as much as it is a science.

Our Covid-19 Plan for a Safe In-Office Hypnosis Experience

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

We have received Governor Inslee’s guidance for safe “reopening” of professional services businesses. Right now, we offer tele-hypnosis and NLP private sessions and will continue to do so. However, we are also making the necessary adjustments to resume in-office visits to Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP.

Here is our plan, moving forward.

To protect you, as well as for our own safety, we have PPE!  Personal protective equipment. All clients in office will be provided face mask, face shield, nitrile gloves, and hand sanitizer. The face mask and gloves are disposable.  The face shield is to be returned to us (we disinfect).  The bottle of Mindworks Hypnosis hand sanitizer (62% alcohol) is yours to keep and take home (see photo).

For the hypnotherapy portion of a private session in office, social distancing is not a problem. No mask/gloves etc. are necessary but can be worn if a client wants. We will maintain about 8-10 feet distance from “the trance chair” as we perform the hypnosis. For the NLP Neuro-Linguistic Programming portion of our work, approximately 80% of it will be performed at a distance of 6 feet or more. It may be necessary to come closer than 6 feet for some techniques. Hence, the PPE.

Our office is in a professional office building with restrooms, sinks, soap, etc. and a professional janitorial service. Cleaning/sanitizing protocols are in place. We will personally disinfect our own office space, wipe down furniture, door handles, etc. after each client visit. We also have an air purifier appliance for the sessions room.

We will schedule clients so that they do not overlap in time or fill the waiting room.

Right now, we are offering remote options for private sessions of NLP and hypnosis. We have added the platform of ZOOM (which I really like). So, we offer phone sessions, or Skype, or Zoom. If a client can follow directions and collaborate, we can be successful in any communication medium!

This has been a hard time for all of us. As a reminder, one of our services is STRESS RELEASE. Trust me, it works! I know eating/exercise patterns have been disrupted during this time, and we also help with HEALTHY EATING and weight management. If you are ready for change, we are ready to help. As always, we offer a variety of helping services, including quit smoking, phobia release, motivation and confidence building for business success, habit changes of all varieties.

As Michael once said: “If the mind is involved in the activity, hypnosis helps!”
