Cindi of Kirkland Shares Hypnosis for Weight Loss Success

Seattle hypnosis for weight loss
Another happy Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP client.

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

I love it when my hypnosis clients are thrilled with their unfolding lifestyle changes.  That makes me happy as well.  Here’s a commentary of successful changes shared by one of my weight loss hypnosis clients, Cindi, of Kirkland, Washington.  She’s lost five pounds in two weeks without “trying.”

Does skilled hypnotherapy work? Here’s more proof of the pudding.  I’m sharing a brief highlight video, as well as the full transcript of Cindi’s comments, below:

“I’m feeling great! In the last couple of weeks I’ve lost five pounds. And I don’t really feel like I’ve been “trying,” which is great! Here’s what I’m noticing:

• I’ve been waking up in the morning, and I have lots of energy.

• I’m not focused on food, which I think is really awesome for me, because that’s always been a big focus.

• I’m not eating sugar, which is a huge thing! I’ve really seen the differences in that. My skin isn’t breaking out. And I don’t have headaches, and that’s a huge thing. Because I always felt like I had allergies that were food related. I’m starting to eliminate all of that processed sugar stuff.

• No cravings for fast food whatsoever. I can drive by fast food and I’m not getting any of that, which is really great!

• I’m noticing that I’m starting to incorporate healthy foods into my diet more easily, automatically. In the past if I didn’t feel like making dinner, I would be thinking about where can I go to pick up something to eat quick. Now, what I’m doing is going into the fridge: “OK, well, I’ve got some veggies and I could do a stir fry.” and I’m whipping up a meal and I’m satisfied with it!

• Another interesting thing, is that my portions are minimal. Just regular sized portions, and I’m not hungry after I eat. I’m done! I just make my meal and I’m satisfied. And sometimes I’m even making too much food. I put it away and have something for leftovers.

So, it’s been really good! I can definitely tell that there’s a shift happening for me. For sure!

I do recommend Connie. I was one of those people that researched everything to death! I wanted to make sure that this was going to work for me. I came in and I met with Connie and I felt very comfortable. I felt in sync with Connie. And I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t feel comfortable with the person doing this process. Connie made the process really easy and simple.”  — Cindi, Kirkland, WA weight loss client testimonial 6-12-15.

Yay, Cindi!  Good job!  Now all you’ve got to do is keep it going, all the way to your ultimate healthy goals  And I know you can and you are!  What’s nice about hypnosis is that once you enter that focused on success mindset, you’re there!  You’re doing it. Healthy eating even gathers power and momentum, like a snowball rolling down the side of a snow-covered hill.  Yay, for hypnosis!

Creative Mind Hypnosis to Stop Smoking, Seattle!

Hi, Seattle Hypnosis Friends!  I love this cover art from my newest “explaining hypnotherapy in a minute or less” video, which I share below:

It’s a beautiful illustration of the human mind.  Everybody talks about “right brain” vs. “left brain.” Well, it’s all one mind and it works together wonderfully well blending the analytic with the creative.  All of it is important, and it’s all useful to us in order to live a balanced, successful life.

However….

My passion lives in the colorful side.  My work is art, and yes, I’m an artist.  My palette is imagination, and emotion and sound and color, and vivid mind images created by words. I grew up in the Seattle area and my dad was an engineer at Boeing, and a brilliant man, very analytical. My mom was a professional artist and poet, and lived passion and creativity.  I feel like I’ve inherited a mind that is the best of both of them.  Yay, me!  🙂  It helps me in my work to help you!

Here is a brief, new video I created today explaining how hypnosis relaxes the thinking mind and stimulates the creative mind–in this instance, for smoking cessation.  The same processes can be used to achieve anything!  Because you have more power than you think, especially when you don’t think.  As our genius buddy, Albert Einstein, liked to say:  “You can’t solve a problem with the same thinking that created it.”

Your mind on hypnosis: CREATIVE!

The absolute premise of this work is: “Yes, you can!” I help you access the creative problem-solving aspects of your brain to do it.  We can get started any time, for quitting smoking or any other desired life changes.  My office is in Bellevue, WA, and I service all of the Greater Seattle Metropolitan area.

Here’s to the amazing power of your mind!

Connie Brannan, CHt.All the Best,
Connie

How Old Do I Look? Thinner is Younger!

weight age2Hi, My Seattle Area (and beyond) Hypnosis Friends!

In a world obsessed with youthful appearance, here’s more evidence to prove something we’ve all suspected: being overweight makes you look older.  Overweight adds years to your appearance.  And of course, it makes you feel older, slower, and creakier, with less energy.

On Facebook, I found this very cool program from Microsoft, and I immediately started playing with it.   “How Old Do I Look?”  It’s an age old question (pun) filled with appeal.  We all want to know that!

It kind of reminds me of the old carnival barkers who would guess your weight or age, only more scientific!  Here, you plug in any pics of yourself, and the facial recognition algorithms estimate your age.  In Microsoft’s formal lingo:  “Part of Microsoft Project Oxford, Face APIs provide state-of-the-art algorithms to process face images, like face detection with gender and age prediction, recognition, alignment and other application level features.”

In the pictures of me in the video below, one heavier, one thinner, you can see what the age-detecting-robots thought.  Heavier is seen as older!   In truth, in the thinner picture, I’m two years older than the other pic.   The algorithm says:  the same face thinner looks younger!  And I agree!

Ladies (and men) of a certain age are doing whatever they can to keep a young, vibrant, youthful appearance–for better relationships, for business success, for everyday walking around in the world.  They may choose to go under the knife, and get a facelift, or they may color away their gray hair, or they may resort to botox injections to erase lines and wrinkles.

How about a healthy alternative for a youthful face?  Lose weight!   Nothing glows YOUTH like health–and thinner is healthier.

Healthy Eating with Mindworks Hypnosis SeattleI know what you’re thinking.  But, but, but, it’s hard to lose weight.  What if it wasn’t hard? What if there were an easy way to focus your mind and change your body and reclaim your youthful appearance? There is.  It’s called…wait for it…HYPNOSIS!  There are numerous motivations for change.  My clients tell me what they want by way of losing weight, and looking younger is absolutely on the list.

Let’s do it.  The clock is ticking.  Call me and we’ll get started:  (425) 564-8608  Come on out to Bellevue for your free consultation.  I help people lose weight, that’s one of my prime areas of expertise.  You can check out either of my websites for more info:  http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net and http://www.loseweightseattle.com.

Here’s to a healthy, happy, youthful life!

Featured Testimonial – Goodbye Anxiety & Depression

Hi, Seattle Hypnosis Friends!

I’ve had a lot of clients over the years, and I’ve helped with every variety of context and situation of desired change from weight loss to anxiety release to help with addictions, to sports improvement, to quitting smoking, and more.  Some clients stick out as memorable, because of their willingness to “go for it” and cooperation, some for their incredible successes.  Karel was both of those things.

Karel shared her thoughts about our work on Google with a 5-star review of Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP:

“Connie Brannan has helped me change the way I think about myself and my life. I saw her primarily for help with weight loss, but I ended up realizing many other positive changes at the same time. I was surprised and so pleased with the lasting results of my sessions: ability to concentrate on the way I wanted to eat, improvement in my personal relationships, and a completely rejuvenated interest in life.

After 20+ years of severe depression, I was amazed to find that I was free of it after just a single session. I am so grateful that I had the good sense to see Connie, and I recommend her services to anyone who wants similar improvements in their life.”  – Karel Creason, Bellevue, WA.

And she wrote to me a few years later, offering this follow-up.

“Hello, Connie, I want to give you an update on the changes in my life since I saw you in February 2012.  I have continued to benefit from my freedom from depression…

I also have been able to handle a number of emotionally difficult situations which, in the past, would have had me reeling. What a great improvement. I no longer become paralyzed with grief, fear, or anger when I learn of family illness, marital problems, self-esteem issues, etc.

These changes are because you told my subconscious what to do to make me live the way I want to. I have always held to your phrase that if something I think or believe isn’t useful in my life, get rid of it. What a concept!

In addition to letting you know how I’m doing myself, I wanted to let you know that I referred 2 of my friends to you, and they both have reported great happiness with what you did for them. ”  — Karel Creason , Bellevue, WA

Yay, Karel.  Keep living your life on your own terms, with joy and a sense of your own power to make life better.

This sentence of Karel’s sums up the power of creative, skilled NLP and hypnosis:  “After 20+ years of severe depression, I was amazed to find that I was free of it after just a single session.”  We ALL have this kind of transformational power residing in our unconscious minds–it’s merely a matter of effective and persuasive communications. That’s what skilled hypnosis is, opening up the door and engaging in effective communications with the unconscious mind, and offering up new choices, stimulating new habits and patterns of living.

As I said to Karel and I often say to clients when I’m happy with the shifts happening:  “High five to the unconscious mind!”

All the Best,
Connie

An Extra Piece of Chicken

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

I’ve added another article that I’ve written to our Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP website.  I invite you to check it out, and several other articles I’ve written and share there.  I explain some of the unique tools and processes I utilize in my work for greater client success levels. Because, as we all know, the proof of a service well done is in the pudding.  It’s in my client successes out in the world after going for it with me in my Bellevue hypnosis clinic.  Here’s the article:

Feel Great and Choose New Behaviors. Many years ago, when I worked as an Office Manager for a building services company, I had a great boss.  He taught me a lot about successful business including the concept:  “give them an extra piece of chicken.”  Give your clients more than they expect, give them something above and beyond the services they’ve contracted for.  In addition to office cleaning, he might offer to shampoo carpet for the suite, or have the exterior windows cleaned at no additional charge.

An extra piece of chicken.  I have built that idea into my Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy clinical work as well.  I give clients something extra, beyond what they came if for.  I give them a gift called:   self control.  Or, in other words, control of self.  Control of state of mind and body, control of your responses, control of your experience of LIFE!  I call it:  The keys to the Kingdom.

If you can control how you feel, you control how you will respond and interact in any given moment.  If you can control how you feel, you can control the very thoughts that run in your mind.  You begin to think differently about yourself!    You create new, empowered beliefs.  You move from an “I can’t” mentality to an empowered place called Choice.  Rather than a cork bobbing on the emotional life of the sea, you’re at the wheel, driving the powerboat on a course you set.  Full speed ahead!

And I give this power to clients to take home with them beyond our work in the office.  It’s called an “NLP Anchor.”  Using “Designer Feelings™” we create a desired state of mind and body and belief.  It’s unique for the person, purpose and goals at hand, whether it be as an antidote to anxiety, fear, laziness, smoking, overeating, distraction, etc.  We work to automate the changes inside the mind, so they become the automatic new feeling in the contexts under discussion, and the automatic new thinking and new behaviors.

AND we give ongoing self control, as our extra piece of chicken.

lightswitch onWhat is an anchor?  It’s a physiological stimulus-response we set up in the body/mind.  Think:  light switch.  On!  Activated, It quickly brings about the desired and designed feelings into the body.   How cool is that?  And you control this switch.  That mechanism  can be set up as a touch, or a phrase spoken, an image conjured in the mind, a gesture.  I’ve had clients call it “my calm button,” “my confidence trigger,” my “go for it,” a little girl called it “my happy magic finger trick.,”   It’s not magic, it’s one technique among many in NLP.  And it’s amazingly powerful to all who experience it.

Here’s an example:  a person might come in for hypnosis services to address stress eating.  We create the antidote to stress.  Perhaps it’s a feeling blended of calm, confident, and happy.   We automate new unconscious responses that replace stress and replace stress eating.  Goodbye, stress eating, and goodbye to overweight!  Goal met, happy client!

However, this new feeling, this NLP anchor, has a greater utility than just food.  Perhaps there are other times and places where calm, confident and happy might be useful to our hypothetical client.  Perhaps giving a presentation at work.  Great!  Perhaps for golf excellence.  Great!  With the anchor, a person has control.  And can initiate the good feelings, anytime, anywhere.  Power.  Almost every client that leaves my office is given a custom designed anchor and instructions in how to use and activate!

As I said:  the keys to the Kingdom.  This is beyond price.  Because these anchors last forever, with the proper use.  And I explain the proper use.

NLP done right, it’s beyond awesome.  What’s sad about NLP Neuro-Linguistic Programming is that so few people understand what it truly is, and how to use it–including people who purport to offer it therapeutically, and even those who teach it.  NLP done poorly from a place of only partial understanding may still have some utility, but not much.

Perhaps it’s like the difference between a genuine diamond and a “faux diamonelle.”   There’s high quality “real deal” product and there’s cheaper, inferior, imitation product.  I offer the real deal, as a Licensed Trainer of NLP® through the Society of NLP® — I’m taught and certifed by the originator of NLP, Dr. Richard Bandler.

Feeling is believing, and we’ve developed and trademarked the ultimate great “Designer Feelings™ process.” Designer Feelings™ are available only at our hypnosis clinic, Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP.  They activate automatically in the contexts desired, and are forevermore available to you as a source of self control.  Call us at (425) 564-8608 and find out more anytime!

Connie

Skill Beyond CDs – Best Greater Seattle Hypnotherapy & NLP

Hi, Seattle Hypnosis Friends!

I’ve written another article for my website called “Skill Beyond CDs.”  I’m sharing it here as well.  🙂  I’ve explained this idea one on one in my hypnosis & NLP consultations, however, perhaps it’s time to share it bigger.

A prospective client came in for her consultation yesterday.  In our Q&A, she asked me: “Are you going to give me an audio CD of our session that I have to listen to?”  I said, “No way!  I don’t do that, because you don’t need to do that.”  She heaved a giant sigh of relief, a prior hypnotist had tortured her in that way.  I explained more:  “When this work is done well, change is automated.  That means it sticks and grows even more powerful on its own.  Today, and tomorrow.  Without you needing to listen to a CD.”

The fact is, hypnosis is a self-regulated profession.  In the Seattle area, and in Washington State, there are no certification requirements, beyond a simple registration process.  Anyone can do this work, trained or untrained, skilled or unskilled, creatively imaginative or reading from a script book.  Every hypnotist has chosen and pursued a different level of training, and has achieved a different skill set, as well as coming to the game with a different  level of native intelligence and creativity.

Every hypnotist has a different mindset as well, as to the power of these tools for personal and positive change.  Some hypnotists are believers, and some are doubters.

Doubters give CDs.  Giving a client a CD recording of the session gives its own NEGATIVE and damaging hypnotic message:  our work isn’t enough to be successful.  Wow, what a stupid thing to communicate to a client–creating an expectation that change is difficult.  Yes, our work is enough to be successful!  IF the skill set is there in the first place to create and install ongoing change rapidly.

This work is all about utilizing the unconscious mind to make change.  Unconscious means outside of conscious awareness.  Thinking and remembering to make time to listen to an audio recording of your session involves your conscious mind.  When the conscious mind is involved, this work is less powerful and less successful.  Good hypnosis requires no “homework.”

A somewhat rude novice hypnotist asked me one day:  “If you’re not going to make CDs, how are YOU going to compete?”  The answer is (without giving away the unique processes I have created to help people change), by creating more success for clients WITHOUT making them listen to a CD.  It wouldn’t have been polite to say:  “Because I’m better and smarter than you at this work and I’ve created something different that’s even more powerful.”

Here’s a story I like to tell to illustrate these ideas from my own personal experience.  I used to have an extreme spider phobia.  In addition to being deathly afraid of spiders, I was constantly worried about seeing one and was always on the lookout.  This pattern lasted in me for over 30 years!

Guess what?  I didn’t have to do anything or listen to a CD to keep that fear in place.  It’s just who I was and how I responded in the world.  It was an unconscious strategy in my mind.  Not a useful one.  With NLP, that strategy became changed in me in a one event new learning.  I was changed.  Effective immediately, there was no fear of spiders.  It’s been 9 years now, and I’ve never had to “listen to a CD” to keep that change.  It’s just who I am and how I respond in the world.  With calm where fear used to be.  That’s effective change.  That’s what I strive for in my office.  Automated change that does not involve your conscious mind expending energy where it’s not needed.

So my advice, toss the session CDs and find a hypnotist actually skilled enough to help you face to face!

Creative Hypnosis for Quitting Smoking!

Quit Smoking Seattle HypnosisHi, Hypnosis Friends!

Here’s a story to share with you, all about the hypnotic power of a half-eaten rotten banana.

I was working with a Seattle man the other day on quitting smoking. One of the elements of this work is our search for a useful feeling called “hell, no!” This gentleman, his “Hell, no!” was the thought of eating a rotten banana–he declared it the worst disgust feeling he could conjure. Coincidence, and propinquity! I had a half eaten well-past-its-prime squishy black banana in my trash can at the office at that very moment. I fished it out and we gave him several good whiffs, while I used my hypnotic tool kit to set that disgust equal to smoking. He’s done with cigarettes. Cravings are dead.

Long live the rotten banana!  And long live the happy and healthy nonsmoker.

At the same time, and on the flip side of the coin, we also customized some powerful, good Designer Feelings™ in place of smoking, and attached those to undo the habit.  Wonderful feelings that encourage healthy:  calm, contentment, in control, and so on.  Just as what generates disgust is unique person to person, so, too are the good feelings which can kick smoking desire to the curb.  We explore and generate both in our Greater Seattle hypnotherapy center.

There’s a science and methodology to Neuro Linguistic hypnotherapy blended with fun and creativity, and, guess what?  It works!  For quitting smoking, as well as a variety of other positive changes.  Are you ready to quit smoking?  Let’s do it!  Call me and let’s get started.

All the Best,
Connie

“Anxiety is totally gone!” Pam’s Success with Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP.

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

I’m always pleased when a client is so happy with my work that he/she agrees to comment publicly on the power of hypnotherapy and NLP done right.  Here’s a video testimonial of success from a recent client, Pam Parsons, of Issaquah, WA.  She reports that anxiety is “Totally gone.”  Yay!

Pam decided to feel differently, and move ahead in life.  She chose to feel:  “calm, confident, worthy, driven, and courageous.”  The tools and techniques I use helped her to do just that.  We create new Designer Feelings™, and replace the unwanted feelings, and automate that process for the future, which we call Designer Beliefs ™.  Powerful stuff! Fabulous stuff.  Life-changing stuff. Pam knows.

A man I met recently asked me a question.  He said, at the end of your life, are you going to be able to say with authority and truth that you lived the life you wanted?  That you mattered, that you made a positive difference in the world, that you loved fully, that you lived fully?  I know my answer is going to be:  YES!  I love helping people, and I’m doing it. I’m living my passion.  I’m also happy that I’m helping other people to have a more wonderful life and be able to answer that question themselves in the affirmative, too.

I went to her for severe anxiety, one session I was handling the challenges in my life without panic attacks. I went back for insomnia, after one session I was sleeping like a sweet little creature curled up in pillows. There have been other side benefits of my work with her that include confidence and getting my sense of humor back. “Without exaggeration Connie literally changed my life. She helped me stop smoking after only 3 sessions (I smoked for 18 years). She also cured my big fear of fish and water after only one session, from the stage where I couldn’t watch a deep ocean documentary on TV, to having the courage and even enjoy going in a submarine in deep water to watch fishes and under-water life, that to me is day and night. Before I met Connie, I couldn’t even think of going to aquarium or swim in the beach. AND YES IT’S WORTH EVERY PENNY. Connie is professional, she will listen to you carefully and will guide you to make the changes you want, and she’s good at what she does. We just moved out of the state, and I will miss seeing her. “I was at a proverbial crossroads in my life and knew it was time to make some changes, examine my ambitions & goals and move bravely forward into my future – perhaps an entirely new future. However, before I could do that, I needed to release some patterns & beliefs that had been holding me back. When I discovered Mindworks, I suspected it could be ideal for my needs. One consultation with Connie and I knew I had found the perfect place and the perfect person to help me. I was immediately at ease with Connie. Her ability to compassionately and skillfully blend techniques of NLP and hypnosis allows the client to discover solutions to their own issues and problems.  I trust her. I believe in her and the tools that she passionately & masterfully uses to guide you to your own truth.”  –Kerry D., Kent, WA

“I went to see Connie to quit smoking. The experience was very positive. Connie was very explanatory so I knew exactly what to expect when I sat in the chair. She explained how hypnosis worked and told me exactly what she would do while I was hypnotized. Connie helped me reach my goal. I walked out of her office a non-smoker and three months later, I am still smoke free. I would recommend her services to anyone.”  — Jenny Rivera, Bellevue, WA

“Connie, I can’t begin to thank you for the ways you’ve made things better for me. I originally sought out Mindworks as the result of a glowing recommendation from a trusted friend and health professional in an effort to curb my neurotic eating. Connie was wonderfully professional and patient with me even when I lost confidence in myself or the process. I was able to dramatically reduce my nervous/neurotic eating, let go of self-loathing thoughts, gain some peace with difficult parent relationships and feel so much more hopeful and positive about the direction in which I was headed. I absolutely plan to return to do a little more mental house-cleaning and have recommended her to several others.” — A Google User, Seattle, WA

“I cannot even begin to say all I want to say about Connie and the work she does at Mindworks Hypnosis. I’ve worked with Connie on a couple different occasions, and she has changed my life completely. There have been so many things she has helped me with. I first sought her out for my fear of spiders, and she blew my mind. Fearful my entire life to being able to squash them no matter the size!! I went to her for my lack of energy and enthusiasm for working out and losing weight. I’ve lost 50lbs and am now 10lbs from my goal! I had knee problems for over a year on my right knee. Connie did some Reiki on it, and immediately the pain and stiffness was GONE, never to return. Since learning her relaxation techniques, I can fall asleep within minutes instead of lying awake in bed. By using her techniques for triggering my brain, I went from a 5 year straight smoker to now almost 5 months as a nonsmoker! Connie is patient, she listens, and she knows how to help you get past the road blocks, no matter the size. I’ve recommended her in the past and I will continue to do so in the future!”  –Nichole V, Mercer Island, WA

“I went to a seminar Connie led at Bellevue College TELOS programs. I was struck at one by her innate kindness and her genuine concern for all of us in the class. I was so helped that I signed up for her training program so that I could give others the type of amazing, healing experiences I was having. As a person who has ben a teacher since 1967, I have run and been in over 350 credit hours worth of classes. I can say very honestly, I have never had such outstanding teachers before, and doubt I will see many even half as good in the future! Everyday I face and do things I never believed possible before. I know I sound over the top, but I am so happy with her services that over the top is the only way to go.”  –Gaia Hawkin, Kirkland, WA

Designer Feelings

Hi, Hypnosis & NLP Friends!

Would you like some insider-secrets to the work I do at Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP?  When I meet a client, one of the first questions I ask during the info gathering portion of our work is:  “How would you rather feel?”  What specific, explicit state of mind and body, aka mood, would be useful to you in the context under discussion?

The right frame of mind is essential to success in any human endeavor.   A golfer might need focus and calm, and strength.  A person who is speaking in public might need clear-minded, articulate, and a sense of fun.  A person boarding an airplane might need a feeling of relaxation, security, and optimism.  Intimate moments might need confidence, joy, and playfulness.  A business person working a new project might need motivation, energy, and creativity.

License Plate2Michael and I are trained as Design Human Engineers™ as well as Licensed Trainers of NLP ®.  Here’s one of the things we love to do with those tools at Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP:  we custom-design and create with you new feelings.

And then we attach those new feelings where they are useful.  We transform a problematic state of mind and body, such as fear, uncertainty, sadness, I can’t do it, lethargy, hopeless, etc. into power and joy and success generators.

Dr. Bandler (the co-originator of NLP, and the man who has licensed us as his Trainers) has a wonderful saying:  “Good feelings, good decisions.  Bad feelings, bad decisions.” That is so true!  We’ll help you create those good feelings.  When you change how you feel, you change how you think, and you change what you do in the world.  It’s all connected.

SoupThe way I explain this to clients, I have them imagine we’re making soup:  We toss into the pot all sorts of good things, veggies, herbs, spices, etc.  We simmer and the flavors merge and meld and create something wonderful.  So, too, we create for you designer feelings.  We can create in these blends feelings you’ve never even experienced in the world.  You can now.

How would YOU rather feel?  Here’s a sampling of the power feelings you can choose from:

  • Confident
  • Calm, Relaxed
  • Happy
  • Successful
  • In Control
  • Who Cares?/Indifference
  • Not my Problem
  • Self Esteem (otherwise known as “Yay, Me!”)
  • Optimistic
  • Freedom
  • Security
  • Loved/Loving
  • Connection
  • Creative
  • Clear-Minded
  • Peaceful
  • Satisfied
  • Capable/I Can Do It!
  • Acceptance
  • Articulate
  • Carefree
  • Having Fun
  • Motivated/Go For It!
  • No Way!/Aversion
  • Passion/Engaged with Life
  • Healthy/Strong
  • Forgiveness
  • Patience
  • Trust
  • Energetic
  • Humor

This is only a partial “menu” of items that can go into your customized, designer feeling. Then we do the work (using NLP) to attach this new power state to the times/places/interactions where you want the feeling.  Bottom line:  we get to CHOOSE how we feel.  What a life-transforming, power-filled idea.

Seattle Hypnosis Success – She’s the Skinny Hug Grandma Now

Carol Haugen

When you’re excited about something, you know what? It shows!

Carol Haugen of Renton, WA, is surprised at how well hypnosis works for weight loss.  After a couple sessions, she’s on a new path: minus 5 pounds so far, working out, down a belt notch, clothes looser, and her granddaughter reports that a recent “hug” shows her that Grandma is getting thinner.

There’s all kinds of ways to measure weight loss success, and the number on the scale is just one of them.

Here’s Carol sharing what she’s noticing so far after our work at Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP for weight loss hypnotherapy.  And what she’s really noticing is:  it’s so easy.  Amazingly so.  That’s the power of the mind, when properly focused.

If you’re interested in losing weight, getting healthy and adopting new healthy lifestyle changes, we can help.  We do offer a free in-office private consultation if you’d like to learn more about what this thing called “hypnosis” REALLY is.  You’ll be surprised.  It’s something wonderful, and not at all like the picture painted by TV and movies.  Carol knows!

All the Best,
Connie

The Empowerment of Marian

I love when I see people changing right before my eyes.  A recent weight loss client, Marian Zappala, of Redmond, WA is having wonderful changes through the work we’re doing: hypnosis and NLP.  She’s becoming powerful, and losing weight along the wayl!

Marian is a lovely, intelligent lady who needed more confidence in herself.  Now she’s got that.  After two sessions, she reports that she’s already lost 4 pounds.  Here’s what she says about what she’s noticing:

“I was an emotional eater.  Since I’ve started the process of hypnosis I have felt more confident, more relaxed, and more in control of my life.  And, through this process I have let go of those things that were controlling me, like irritability, boredom, stress,  and I now have managed my eating patterns.  I’ve lost 4 pounds so far.”

I no longer crave sweets, breads, or the carbs that were making me more tired, more heavy,  and more irritable.  I’m feeling more confident!  And I see that it’s almost unconscious that I’m making these decisions to not eat the bread, the pasta, the rice.  And definitely I’m eating smaller portions!  The other night for dinner I chose to have just vegetables, and I was not hungry later.   When I woke up in the morning, I was hungry but I didn’t want or get any bread.  Which is a miracle!”

Food choice changes, yay!  However, self image changes:  super yay!  Here is what Marian says about how she feels more empowered in her life, even beyond just this weight management goal.

“The idea of “I’m not good enough” has been completely destroyed.

I feel more armed for the world, better prepared. My confidence, my ability to manage stressful situations  is back to where it used to be, like 15 years ago.  So now I feel that it’s just a matter of time for me to achieve the weight loss that I want to have for myself.

I’m really happy about all these changes.

I definitely recommend Connie!  You’ll have to come and try it!  You’ll see that even in just one session you can feel a difference in your mood and your attitude towards making changes in your life regardless of what the change is.  The process is very easy.  Connie helps me through all the steps.  It’s funny at times.  It’s something that I think anybody who has an open mind to a change in their life can embrace.”  –Marian Zappala, PHd., Redmond, WA.

Marian came in for weight loss, and that’s happening.  Losing weight and finding so much more.  I’m enjoying seeing this empowerment of Marian.  More!  We want more.

When I help people with weight management, we look at everything–and as we begin the work I ask about 1/2 hour’s worth of questions as to existing habits and patterns.  My questions are not JUST about the food and exercise habits–they’re also about emotions, beliefs, and self image.   I see what needs tweaking for optimal success.  And then we go for it.  Creative hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming.  It works.

Another 5-Star Google Review for Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP and an End to Anxiety.

Hi, Hypnosis Friends and Enthusiasts!

I had a favorite TV show years ago, called “The X-Files.”  There was a catch-phrase popularized by that show:  “The truth is out there!”  Well, yes it is!

What is the truth about the positive healing power of my blend of Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy?  I share lots and lots of success stories on my website HERE!  Beyond that, however, there’s more!  Check out the newest “5-stars out of 5” review about my services which has recently been posted on google by a client:

“This works!!! I dubbed Connie “my fairy godmother” because I can’t believe how fast and easy and brilliant her techniques work. I went to her for severe anxiety, one session and I was handling the challenges in my life without panic attacks.

I went back for insomnia, after one session I was sleeping like a sweet little creature curled up in pillows. There have been other side benefits of my work with her that include confidence and getting my sense of humor back.

I highly respect this woman – her integrity, her talents, her heart and how effective her work has been in my life. I can not say enough about how easy, natural and powerful hypnosis and NLP are. If you have tried everything, stop struggling and go see Connie!”  — Marcela Kenevan, Gig Harbor, WA.

Thank you, Marcela!  Your success makes me so happy, and I say:  “High Five! to the unconscious mind!”

Hypnosis (and NLP–my favorite variety of hypnosis) have been misunderstood and under-estimated by the majority of the world for at least my lifetime.  One of my personal and professional goals is that the truth finds its way out there, client by client, success story by success story, one mind at a time.  And it is!

Grow Your Happy with Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP Seattle

Last year in March, the world celebrated happy, with the International Day of Happiness. Here’s a video which shares that exuberant joy.

I think we should do more of that, celebrating joy and feeling happy.  🙂  I think happiness is too big and wonderful to contain within a single calendar day, and should be welcomed and lived every day.  What kind of a world would it be if people were HAPPY every day?  A different world, a better world.  Because…

In the words of the developer of NLP and my favorite teacher, Dr. Richard Bandler:  “Good feelings, good decisions.  Bad feelings, bad decisions.”  My work is all about good feelings, and making them unconsciously automated.  That’s hypnosis and NLP.  When you feel good, you think differently, and you act differently in ways that are useful to you.  NLP Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a high tech hypnosis described as “The Art & Science Of Excellence,”–and I am so pleased to have achieved the status of Licensed Trainer of NLP ® through Dr. Bandler.

Learn more anytime about the power of hypnosis and how easy it really is to find your happy, with the right tools, skillfully wielded.  Here:  http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net  I love my hypnosis & NLP client work here in the Greater Seattle area.  Your success, that’s what makes me happy.

Warm Regards,
Connie

Getting Creative with NLP

happy brain gets strong with hypnosis & NLP servicesHi, Hypnosis Friends!

Today’s entry is written by Michael Brannan, my partner in business and life!  This was part of a larger discussion on an international hypnosis and NLP Neuro Linguistic Programming forum board and I’m sharing it because it has so many wonder elements that explain the work we do.

The topic was breaking “addiction” via adopting a new state of mind–which Michael and I have been helping clients do successfully for years, whether that addiction was drugs, sugar, tobacco, gambling, pornography, etc.  Michael says:

“Certainly, these drugs can alter brain chemistry; but, in fact, your own body is far more capable of changing your brain chemistry faster and more effectively than a drug. Your brain chemistry changes every time you go from thinking a happy thought to thinking an unhappy thought.  Creativity is about going into the right state of mind.

Creativity is almost always the work of the unconscious mind. Insight, inspiration, innovative ways of looking at things are necessarily things that lie outside conscious control. We can, of course, consciously set the stage for the unconscious to engage in creative activity through conscious efforts at problem solving, game playing, looking at things from a different perspective, etc.

Even science is replete with anecdotes of discovery by something just popping into the mind from seemingly unrelated stimulus (witness the discovery of the double helix), or the use of imagination, witness Einstein imagining what it would be like to travel along with a light wave.

I know a hypnosis teacher who thought drugs were an answer to getting more creative faster. It’s not necessary. In a training I once attended, we did the “drug of choice” experiment–going into trance and reproducing the experience of having a drug. It’s safer, and legal, too!

What state do you want, and how can you tweak it to make it even more of what you want? Change your state and you will change your brain chemistry–no drugs needed.”

This is all true, and I agree with every word that Michael has written here.  Changing your thinking changes your body chemistry, hence the “Neuro” (neurology) in Neuro Linguistic Programming.  Any state of mind and body, including one of “addiction,” can be altered with these tools.  And frequently is, in my office, just about every day.  And when you change your brain chemistry (mood), you change your thinking, and also your behaviors. It’s all linked.

So, when a person feels stuck and says to himself or herself:  “I’m not this (creative), or I’m not this (analytical), or I’m not this (motivated), or I’m not this (powerful)”, well, the truth is, yes, you are!  And Michael and I have the tools to enact it.

Find out more about NLP here :  http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net  (the clinical work side of what we do as Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapists ®) and here:  http://www.seattlenlptraining.com (the career school side of what we do as Licensed Trainers of NLP ®).

All the Best,
Connie & Michael

8 Years! Happy Anniversary to Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP!

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

This morning Linkedin told me that people were congratulating me on an event — my 8 years work anniversary. It’s nice to remember the things I had forgotten to notice. I began my business, Mindworks Hypnosis, in January, 2007. Eight years! Happy Anniversary to me.

When I discovered the helping power and the absolute creative joy of doing NLP, (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and Hypnotherapy, I quit my job as a Bookkeeper/Office Manager, created this business, and I’ve never looked back. Dozens of additional hypnosis and NLP trainings under the belt, three different offices and thousands of clients later, and I love this work more than ever. This has been the best eight years of my life!

I remember my first paying client, she was a girl named Heather who wanted to stop fingernail biting. She had one session with me, and she was successful. She was also my first testimonial, which is still on my website:, http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net:

“I had a manicure last night…I haven’t had a strong urge to bite my nails and I can’t exactly find the words but it is an amazing feeling. Thanks so much, Connie!” –Heather R., Seattle

When I started this job, I got some really bad business advice:  To pretend I’m good at only one thing.  To market myself as a “specialty.”  To say I’m the hypnosis weight loss specialist.  Or, I’m the hypnosis quit smoking specialist.  I refused then and now to limit the power of what I do.  My expertise is in facilitating change in unconscious strategies for behaviors and beliefs and states of mind and body in any realm of activity whatsoever.

In the eight years, I’ve successfully helped an amazing variety of clients, from weight loss, quit smoking, ending fear and anxieties, all the way to working with  pro and Olympic athletes, clients with addictions (drugs, alcohol, gambling, sugar, and etc.).  Helping kids with study skills, confidence, and self esteem, helping with physical and accelerated healing, helping stroke survivors with mental function, helping erase blocks to business success, improved sleeping, improved memory, improved intimacy, and so on. As we say at Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP, if the mind is involved in the activity (which is EVERYTHING), then hypnosis helps.

Lots of people in life are looking to “find their passion.” The thing they love doing and are good at, which utilizes and highlights their strengths.  The thing that they would choose above all other careers.  The thing that makes them smile in the morning, excited and happy to be going to work.  I found mine, and this is it!

All the Best,
Connie

It’s Time! Hypnosis for your New Year’s Resolutions!

Seattle's Best Hypnotherapy at Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP
Time for Skilled Hypnosis & NLP!

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

Did you see the New Year’s fireworks celebration at the Seattle Space Needle?  I did!  It’s officially here, happy 2015!

“It’s time!”

Those are action activating words for me, and I hope for you as well. It’s time.

It’s the first week of January.  Time for assessing the new year ahead and taking stock of healthy goals. It’s time to lose that extra weight you’ve been carrying around.  It’s time to stop buying and smoking those ridiculously expensive and unhealthy cigarettes.

It’s time to dump the fear that’s been holding you back from truly experiencing and enjoying life and connecting with others:  fear of public speaking, fear of flying, fear of rejection…(you fill in the blank).  Fear is often unnecessary, and we can communicate that fact to the mind, on unconscious levels, and choose something different.

People tend to work those New Year’s Resolutions for a a day or two, a week or two, then give up.  You don’t have to go it alone when there is skilled help available.

I love what I do.  I help activate people’s desires and make them real.  My work (hypnosis and NLP Neuro-Linguistic Programming® ) is a joy-maker and a success-maker.  This time of year, people are very in touch with those desires–we call them New Year’s Resolutions.  Let’s make them real.  Call me and I’ll set up a free in person consultation in my office in Bellevue to explain the work I do and how your dreams CAN become reality.  (425) 564-8608.

Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy is more powerful than “traditional” hypnotherapy alone. NLP is a conversational hypnosis that speaks directly to the mind beyond conscious thought, using the currency of life experience:  sights, sounds, smells, taste, emotion, and it’s an amazing success accelerant.  NLP is my prime work tool, as I am and Michael is also, a Licensed Trainer of NLP ® through the originator of NLP. There are only a few dozen of us at that skill & certification level working and teaching NLP in the United States.

Tick.  Tick.  Tick.  Time is moving.  And life is happening.  If you want yours to be different in positive ways that you have resolved, the time is now.

All the Best,
Connie

A New Course at Bellevue College – NLP for Dating and Relating

Hi, Hypnosis Friends & Enthusiasts!

The work I do and teach in the Seattle area is hypnosis and NLP, Neuro Linguistic Programming — amazing methodologies for personal development and goal getting, goal achievement. Hypnosis and NLP are applicable and wonderful for so many varieties of change — from weight management to phobia fixes, to behavioral changes such as quit smoking and stop fingernail biting, to sports enhancement to improving relationships and communications, and pretty much any activity where your brain is involved.  (ALL!)

In the realm of that last category, relationships and communications, I am offering a new course at Bellevue College this winter quarter.  It’s called:  NLP for Dating and Relating. NLP has been called “hypnosis on steroids.”

http://www.campusce.net/BC/course/course.aspx?C=13808&pc=1817&mc=1893&sc=

Here’s the course description for NLP for Dating and Relating:

Are you interested in dating or improving relationships with those around you? Effective communication can improve any relationship! You will learn how to build rapport and connect with people in the best way possible, both socially and in business contexts. Create states of mind and body in yourself (such as confidence and joy) that lead to effective communications. NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) is a methodology of effective communications, both on the conscious and unconscious level. Connie Brannan is a Licensed Trainer of NLP ®.

NLP for Dating and Relating
Item: W9509 Connie Brannan
7:00 PM – 9:00 PM North Campus Room: V1021
Sessions: 1 W Address: 14673 NE 29th Place Bellevue, WA 98007
3/18/2015 – 3/18/2015 Fee: $49.00

What is NLP?  I talk about that here:

The course, a one night, 2-hour adventure, is all about building new states in ourselves that enhance communications, confidence, ease, flow of words, sharp-minded, humor, and so on.  It’s also about understanding rapport (positive connections between people) and how to facilitate rapport.–PHYSICALLY.  And verbally.  It’s fun, cool, stuff. And super powerful.

My goal for the course is that people should walk out the door after the class feeling more empowered and positive, with tools to use for improved communications.  I’d love for you to join me!

The Bellevue College info and sign up link is here.   http://www.campusce.net/BC/course/course.aspx?C=13808&pc=1817&mc=1893&sc=

“At Cause” Your Life to be Wonderful

Hypnosis is Empowerment
Hypnosis is Empowerment.

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

Happy November. Michael and I wish you and yours some fabulous holidays. 🙂

Speaking of fabulous, I’m often asked “What is hypnosis all about?” Here is another answer. It’s about moving yourself from “I can’t.” to “Yes, I can!” It’s empowerment. Here are some thoughts I’ve written up on the empowerment power of hypnosis!

There are unhappy people in the world who say: “I can’t!” and they make excuses. There are people in the world who let their lives be limited. They feel trapped or stuck. “My life sucks.”

On the flip side, there are powerful people in the world who say: “Yes, I can!” And they do. They say: “I’m going for it! I choose how I live.”

Which describes you? And, which would you rather be?

Empowerment. Hypnotherapy and particularly, NLP, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, are about opening up the mind to new, more desired choices and new possibilities. And making them happen.

A problem is really a problem only if you believe it to be. Henry Ford, the famous automaker, had that wonderful saying: “If you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right!” Hypnotherapy is all about “Yes, I can.” The belief controls the actions and outcomes. Hypnotherapy empowers useful beliefs.

In my line of work there is a terminology to describe this empowered vs. unhappy state of mind. It’s called being “at cause” vs. being “at effect.” Being “at cause” means I cause my world to be what I choose it to be. Power. Choice. Control. Being “at effect” means I am a cork bobbing on the ocean, helpless to the seas and currents. “At effect” means no control, feeling like a victim.

An aside: Now, this is funny. My speech to text program heard “at effect” as “a defect.” “Being a defect means you are a cork…” And people actually do get this idea. They think of themselves as having a defect, something defective about them, their mind, their personally. I say no way! What we do and how we live, it’s all a choice. And what’s nice about choice is that we can always choose something new at any time.

It is my belief and also the premise of the work I do that people are infinitely resourceful. They do have choices. What I do is open up more choices for them. It’s so easy to do this. Fear is a choice. Calm is a different choice. Overeating is a choice. Healthy eating is a different choice. Smoking is a choice. Not smoking is a different choice. “At effect” people have no idea of their own ability to choose, they live their life in that victim mentality feeling trapped. It doesn’t have to be that way. While other therapies which activate conscious resourcing offer a very limited utility for change, hypnosis kicks “at effect” out the door.

Here’s an example from my work. I had a client who is a musician. She had a fear and anxiety around solo performances. She had been to other therapists for months who made her examine in infinite detail her life history, her relationship with her parents and the deep, deep, deep, psychological reasons for the existence of her problem. Guess what? That didn’t fix it. She came to me and one session of NLP/hypnotherapy later she is performing without anxiety. It’s a new choice that her mind has chosen. I want calm and confident! Okay let’s do that! (That’s where hypnosis and NLP come in, they can do that!) This change in a person’s thinking, that’s being “at cause.”

If only the world knew how easy it is to be powerful.

I believe everyone is capable of choice. Everyone is capable of making their life better. Everyone is capable of getting the life they want. These tools I use are so fast and fascinating. and they result in a life being “at cause”. That means we make choices that bring us happiness, joy, health, and success of all varieties.

Another benefit of all this, the bridge burns after you cross it. When you become a person “at cause,” the excuses for things not being the way you want them to be dry up. You’re not making excuses anymore, you’re taking action. And creating change and success. Once we see ourselves as powerful and in control of our choices and outcomes, there’s no going back. And that’s wonderful. With the right tools, flipping that switch, power ON, in the mind can happen faster than you think.

Warm Regards,
Connie

What is NLP? It’s “Hypnosis on Steroids!”

Neuro Linguistic Programming
Neuro Linguistic Programming

Hi, Hypnosis Friends & Enthusiasts!

People come to my Bellevue hypnosis office because they want something different.  Something different to do, or something different NOT to do.  To get over negative emotions, to create a desired outcome, success, of all varieties.   NLP, Neuro Linguistic Programming, is my number one go-to tool to help.

After I explain hypnosis and hypnotherapy, I’m often asked:  “What IS NLP?”  Here’s a video where I explain:

As I say in the description of this video on my Youtube channel: “This methodology and mindset helps us take control of our experience of life! How we feel, how we think, what we DO…it’s all movable furniture and we, each of us, is the movin’ man! We can get the life we want.”

A hypnotherapy session in my office is really two sessions in one, in that it also includes a full NLP session as well as traditional hypnosis.  I call what I do “Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy™.”  What I do is very different from other therapies and even from other hypnotherapists.  🙂  The approach is different from other therapies in that it is one of empowerment.  NLP is my favorite thing, as well as my expertise. It’s the difference which makes the difference.

What is NLP?  Another tool for unconscious communication.  It’s been called “hypnosis on steroids.”  That’s because it works so amazingly well and fast when the practitioner is skilled and creative.  I am a Licensed Trainer of NLP ® through the Society of NLP ™ which is a source of great pride for me.  There are only a few dozen such trainers in the entirety of the US, licensed through Dr. Richard Bandler, the co-originator of NLP.  My husband, Michael,  (also one of those Licensed Trainers of NLP ® ) and I operate a Licensed Private Career School here in Washington State, Mindworks NLP, and we teach and offer NLP certifications.  NLP is cool.  NLP is fun.  NLP is amazing.  My students get so excited by it that they have been known to start chanting in class:  “NLP!  NLP!  NLP!”

It’s actually pretty rare that a Licensed Trainer ® is also doing one on one client work as well as teaching groups.  I see private clients because this is my passion and my fun.  You can learn more here, anytime, at my client website, and here, my school website. I do hope you will discover the power of NLP at some point in your life. It’s worth knowing.

All the Best,
Connie

Discover the Magic of Skilled NLP and Hypnotherapy.

I love this video.  It demonstrates SKILL:

When a person is passionate about what they do, it shows. It shines.  Because they learn and practice and get good at it.  They take joy and pride in it.  They don’t settle for “just ok.” They want more.  This man has practiced with his cards.  🙂

This is a mindset I like, because it’s also mine.  It shows in the work I do as  Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP.

In one of my earliest hypnosis trainings, the instructor referred to hypnotherapy as a “Matchbook Profession.”  That’s not a compliment.  It means you learn it for a buck and it’s a by the numbers affair, involving reading purchased scripts at people.  No way, Jose.  Perhaps some hypnotherapists are of that mindset and modus operandi, not me. This is an art, and endlessly creative, and there’s always more to learn, which is why I’m drawn to it.

Skilled hypnosis is Mindworks Hypnosis. My goal is and always has been, client successes.  When a client “wins” (successfully gets his goal), I win.  And I’m passionate about winning.

If you’ve tried some other therapies and even some other hypnotherapist or purported NLP practitioner and were not impressed with the results, go for someone  more creative, skilled and passionate.  You may be awesomely surprised at how quickly life improves for you.

All the best,
Connie

Goodbye, Cigarettes. We’re Not Friends Anymore.

Stop Smoking with Seattle's Best Hypnotherapists - Mindworks Hypnosis.
Seattle client crushed the smoking habit!

Another happy, successful client joins the ranks of “nonsmoker.” He smoked for 40 years, and quit in one Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy™ session with me.

He sent a follow up report, which he is allowing me to share:

“Hi Connie, Hey, first of all, let me say Thank You! Haven’t had a cigarette since our session on 8/26 at 12:30pm PDT. So, that’s a record for me. What’s it been now… 6 weeks! After ~40 years of smoking, that’s the longest abstinence to date. So far so good. Thanks again.” – Wishes-to-Remain-Anonymous, Seattle, WA.

Yay!  More success.  The world needs to know that skilled hypnosis kicks smoking’s butt.  If you’ve tried other things, and those “didn’t work,” try something new.  Something that does work.  NLP is “hypnosis on steroids.”  Skilled NLP is “magic” according to a recent client of mine.  It might seem like magic, but really it’s just the power of understanding how the mind works and how to make rapid changes as useful and as desired.  When you think differently, you do differently.  Change really IS that easy.

Quitting smoking is just the tip of the iceberg of possibility with hypnosis.  Michael and I have a saying at Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP:  “If it involves the mind, hypnosis helps improve performance.”  From weight management to sports performance, to removing fears and phobias, to physical changes such as accelerated healing, to ending “addictions” of all varieties, hypnosis is the real deal.  Find a practitioner of these arts who is the real deal as well.  http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net

Happy Five Year Anniversary to “The Hypnotizer!”

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

It’s a landmark.  🙂  Five years!!  It’s been five years this month that I’ve been sharing my thoughts, insights, and passion for hypnosis and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and the power of the mind here on this blog.  I’ve shared articles I’ve written, stories, client successes, videos I’ve created, event notices, musings, and more.  All original content. My thoughts, my voice, my stories.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading, watching, learning, and thinking about the things that I have shared here.  I love what I do, and I love when someone realizes “yes, I can” and creates a better life.  Empowerment, that’s hypnosis.  Thanks for joining me on this ride into the power of personal change! If you’re new to my blog, I invite you to check out the full archive!  It’s located on the upper right column, midway down.  “Archives.”  Five years worth of reading pleasure.

To celebrate this landmark, I’ll be pulling out some vintage articles and stories from my blog that I’ve written and share them again.  Here’s one of my earliest posts from October 2009.

It’s cold and flu season (but not for me!)

Hi, guys! Who watches television? (Raising my own hand, but only half way.) 🙂 I hardly watch at all any more, because the quality of “what’s on” is going down, down, down, and my time for leisure is going down as well. That’s a good thing, but that’s also another topic. This one is:

Dramatic pause. Negative suggestions.

Watching TV this past week, I can’t help but notice the BOMBARDMENT of ads right now, commercials for cold & flu medicines and paraphernalia. Here’s the message: “It’s cold and flu season.” and that means “You’re going to get sick., you can expect to get sick.” I also notice that the stores are stocking the aisles with cold and flu medicines and products–prominent and in-your-face, on the end caps and special displays, with alarming banners warning that cold and flu season is here! Same message: “It’s time for you to get sick now! You’re going to get sick now.” It’s not a warning, per se, it’s a directive! It’s a negative suggestion. And our minds seem quite willing to embrace it without question!

Michael has a story he likes. He was in a work training with a woman. She told this story: She knew that every year she would have one bout of illness per cold and flu season, one only. The reason she’d only have one was because she’d prepare for it, and take massive doses of vitamins. She knew that she’d only get sick once! Her vitamins would protect her from further illness! And yes, it did transpire that she’d only get sick once per winter/season. BUT…one winter she got so busy and forgot to prepare with her vitamins, didn’t think about it at all. Guess what? She didn’t get sick that winter. Not once. Not at all. She forgot to get sick!!

Here’s a personal story about my personal experiences. This is NOT medical advice, because…I’m not medical. I’m a hypnotist. And here’s one positive side effect I enjoy from my hypnosis. Your mileage may vary.

I don’t get sick, either. Ever. Because I’ve decided not to. I USED to get sick, just like everyone else. Two major colds a year. At LEAST two. Until I discovered hypnosis and how the mind processes ideas and suggestions. Three years, (as of this writing, October 2009) and I haven’t been sick. Not a sniffle. I did have food poisoning for one day (some bad shrimp on a Vegas buffet), but it ended quite quickly. I don’t get sick because my unconscious mind rejects the idea, and does what it needs to do to make sure I stay well–strengthening my immune system, or whatever it wants to do. I can happily trust my unconscious to keep me well, and ignore those nitty gritty details as well. I don’t care how. I just know it’s in place. Wellness. I can hang around sick people, avoid hand sanitizer, ignore those commercials and product displays, no flu shot for me, and stay well. Three years and counting…

Hypnosis is incredibly powerful. And our understanding is just a miniscule slice of that giant cake. There’s so much more to know and learn. The unconscious mind knows how to keep us healthy. I talk to the mind in ways it likes, to do just that!

What do you suppose would happen if you decided to stay well this winter?

Warm Regards,
Connie

Sounds Good – NLP for Personal Change

Adjusting Sounds with NLP

Hi, Seattle Area Hypnosis Friends!

Here is an article I’ve written about the power of the mind and the power of NLP to make positive changes in life.  I use these same amazingly successful techniques involving sound to guide clients to personal change in my Bellevue NLP and hypnotherapy clinic.

The topic is sound…music, speech, how the soundtrack of our lives influences our emotional states.  And how WE can enhance this and alter this influence for our own well-being.  We can do all sorts of things, for example release negative emotions, create motivation, move us forward in our desires.  By “tinkering” with sound in our minds!

Music moves us, elevates us, stirs our emotions, in the direction of any emotion you can name.  Think of a march by John Phillip Sousa, or how any stirring anthem activates our feelings of patriotism.  Think how a quiet, beautiful orchestral piece of music calms and relaxes.  Think of a horror movie soundtrack, full of tension and suspense.  Sound is a huge part of our experience of our lives and key to our memories and emotional states.  Imagine a love movie with no soundtrack–would it have the same emotional impact?  No!

By altering the sounds we play in our minds in simple ways, we can experience life differently, more positively, and here are a few easy ideas to do so:

That's RidiculousWe’ve all had arguments, with a coworker, with a spouse, with a friend, and sometimes they “eat” at us.  We play them over and over in our minds, and churn up even more negative emotions like anger and irritation.  Here’s something to do:  as you think about that argument, create a new soundtrack.  Let the voices fade and cue in the circus music.  Clown music.  Carnival music.  Play that for awhile as the argument runs in your mind, and let it transform your experience of the argument.  Done?  Great!  Now, think about it.  That argument seems kind of silly, doesn’t it?  Less power.  Less force to disturb.  And that’s a GOOD thing.

Here’s another use for improving your life with sound.  You want to get to the gym, you know you need to exercise.  You want to exercise, but somehow…you just aren’t doing it.  Here’s what gets me going, and pumps up my motivation.  The Rocky Theme.  You know the one, where he’s running up the steps in Philadelphia:  “getting strong now, gonna fly now…”  Play that music in your mind when you want a lift of success and motivation.  The resultant emotion will propel you out the door and to the gym.  Or insert any other inspirational music which speaks to you.  Movies are a great source to reference, because we all know them.  You can pump up your confidence as well with music such as Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Superman.

Here’s another wonderful use of this:  play with sound to combat what we call “negative self talk.”  That’s the little critical voice in your mind always telling you what you can’t accomplish, and spraying you with curses:  “You’re lazy!,” “You’re stupid!,” “You’ll never get it done!” and so on.  Imagine that voice to be a different voice, a silly voice, a cartoon voice.  Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Elmer Fudd, something ridiculous.  Hear the same words in that new, ridiculous, cartoon voice.  Maybe it’s a squeaky, high pitched cartoon voice.  “You’re lazy!”  The impact on you is different, isn’t it?  Now it’s absurd, and not to be taken seriously.  The voice is a joke!

The secret here, we can choose how we feel.  Play with these simple techniques above involving sound to feel good now!

Hypnosis for Enhanced Learning – Curiosity for the Win!

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

It’s time for back to school, isn’t it?  And that means time to learn.  Accelerated and enhanced learning is another category under the heading:  hypnosis helps!  Yes, it does!  I love helping clients create useful states of mind for any activity, including learning, with hypnosis and NLP.

Please watch this charming video, below.  The boy is FIVE YEARS OLD!!  🙂  His father says the key element to his son’s learning to read is his “curiosity.” That’s high up on my list of useful resources for self and clients, as well.  If you don’t have it, we can create it.  For learning states, I like to create a blend of attention (focus), curiosity, confidence, and “I love it” (a sense of passion and fun).

Learning, studying, absorbing information, test-taking, giving presentations. Hypnosis helps with all of that.  Here’s how it works.  We create a new way to feel in the context, and that loops with a new way to think, and that loops with a new way to act.  New behaviors.  And it’s all good, and all designed for your success and goals.  Like the little boy in the video, the right state of mind for learning to read (curiosity) leads to a wonderful outcome.

Just an FYI, I do work with kids.  I’ve done hypnotherapy with as young as six years old. Young people make the best hypnotic clients!

You can’t learn well if you’re in the wrong state of mind.  For some, “back to school” is a time of happy.  If it’s a time of stress or anxiety or overwhelm for you or your child, that affects learning.  Know that it can be different.  FAST.  My Neuro Linguistic Hypnotherapy sessions are super brief therapies.  Call me anytime for a free consultation in my office to learn more about hypnosis and NLP.  (425) 564-8608.

Seattle Client Reports Hypnosis Success: No More Smoking!

Stop Smoking, Seattle! Victor did!
Stop Smoking, Seattle!  Victor did!

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

I love my email box.  I get so much good news from current and previous clients.  Here is a report from Victor Rodriguez, of Seattle, Washington, who had one Hypnosis – NLP session to quit smoking last month.  That’s all it took.  He quit!   He says:  “Smoking is behind me.”

Yay, Victor!  🙂  Here is Victor’s report:

“Hi Connie, Thanks for following up with me about my stop smoking session with you.  Since that session I am happy to report that I no longer smoke.  It hasn’t quite been a month yet but smoking is behind me…  Since then I haven’t purchased any cigarettes.  It has been a success. I will definitely direct anyone interested to your practice.  Take care, Victor.” — Victor Rodriguez, Seattle, WA.

Now, some people quit smoking instantly.  One Neuro Linguistic Hypnotherapy ™ session! And some people ease into the change called “happy and healthy permanent nonsmoker” over approximately three to four sessions. Everyone is different and every session is different, and personalized.  We work it until you get what you want — to be done with cigarettes, or any other change.  That’s the bottom line.  Compared to other methods of changing habits and removing unwanted behaviors, these are super fast therapies.

If you’re ready for some personal change, we can do that!  I do offer a free in office consultation to explain the unique collaboration of minds which is my work.

Hypnosis and NLP removes phobias.
You’re free to fly!

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

Here is ANOTHER Seattle area hypnosis client testimonial of success for Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP.  Goodbye to fear of flying, goodbye to panic and anxiety.  I just posted one success story about the end to fear of flying on my blog here, and boom!  Here’s another which showed up in my inbox this week.

Kristen Halley had one Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy ™ session with me in May–I offer intensive two hour sessions combining hypnotherapy with NLP.  Here is what she wrote to me about her results from that one session:

“Dear Connie, my flight to Chicago and back was literally the best flight of my life! I cannot thank you enough for the magic you’ve done! I feel so liberated and free! I cannot wait to fly again!”  –Kristen Halley, Greater Seattle Area

When fear leaves, the door to adventure and wonderful, positive experiences opens.  Yay, Kristen!  I’m happy to share her success, as a notice given that irrational fear can be removed. Easily, with the right tools.

Fear of Flying Flies the Coop – Hypnosis Success to End Phobia

Hi, Hypnosis-Friends!

I dropped a friend off at Seattle Tacoma International Airport today, and man, that place is busy! Summertime is traveling time! Here in the Pacific Northwest, we love to fly, and it shows.

Some, however, do not (love to fly). They have fear and panic around it, and that prevents them from the joys of travel.  Fear of flying.  A serious phobia, until hypnosis and Neuro Linguistic Programming quickly gets it gone.  I helped a lady with fear of flying a few weeks ago, and just got an email update from her.  Here is her report of success and positive changes:

“Hi Connie, my husband and I flew from Seattle to Chicago, Chicago to Quebec, and Boston to Seattle – all within 2 weeks. I found that I felt much less stressed so that when we did board the plane I was able to just sit back, relax and enjoy the flight…. All the flights had turbulence and one flight was diverted due to bad weather in the Midwest and I handled the news without any fear or anxiety. Am actually looking forward to flying again soon. Thanks so much!” — Susan Wiseman, Greater Seattle Area

Yay, Susan!  You are now free to discover the world.

When fear is unnecessary, and limiting, we can remove it.  Any irrational fear, from fear of public speaking, to fear of flying, to fear of overripe bananas.  Learn more anytime at http://www.seattlehypnosisforphobias.com and http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net.

We Can Create the Millionaire Mindset with Hypnosis

Business woman on phone making sales and making money.Hi, Seattle Hypnosis-Friends!

I was reading this great article on the internet today–all about the millionaire mindset, the necessary mindset of success used by the very wealthy.

Hypnosis is a tool to create this mindset.  The mindset is what creates action, bottom line.  As it says in the article:

“Mindset is really about disrupting and rearchitecting your beliefs around wealth and your ability to create it.  You have to rid yourself of all of the beliefs that are compromising wealth in order to change your behavior to build wealth. Your beliefs inform your behavior. It’s about seeing opportunity where others see obstacles and knowing that there’s always a solution.”

Right on!  The discussion HERE is so compatible with the hypnotherapy work I do.  I absolutely help people develop this success mindset–for wealth building and all arenas of life success.  What’s cool about NLP, Neuro Linguistic Programming, is the ability to model and install new thinking.  If you don’t have the millionaire (success) mindset, you can get it via hypnosis and NLP.

Again, the article talks about “determination and self discipline.”   If you don’t have it, you can acquire it.  The ability to take risks–a reasoned “go for it” way of thinking.  The ability to climb up from a downfall, taking the wisdom from the experience and moving forward. The ability to notice money-making opportunities.  If you don’t have these, you can acquire them through strategic change via skilled NLP & hypnosis.

I love this work.  And I love helping people become successful.  I have worked with a variety of business people from solo-preneurs, to large corporation CEO’s to stock investment day traders, etc., and all of them have moved closer to the mindset that leads to millions.  “Why not me?” indeed.  We rip out any limiting beliefs in the mind that stand in the way of wealth-building.  One of the key pieces is “I deserve success.”  Yes, you do.

If you need a push in the fanny towards “Yes, I can” (and the motivation to do what it takes to achieve the wealth), I can help!  I can help In the realm of wealth-building, and pretty much any endeavor, from quitting smoking to weight loss.  The mind is a powerful tool.  If you’re not using yours to capacity, let me help!

Warm Regards,
Connie

With Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP, Change is FUN!

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

I got another nice email feedback from one of my successful smoking cessation NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)  and hypnotherapy clients.  His name is Robert Stack, from Seattle, and he said today:

“I never thought freeing myself from smoking could be so much fun!”  — Robert Stack, Seattle, WA  5/17/14.

I hear that a lot–surprise at how easy and how much fun this work is.  Some people have an expectation that change should be unpleasant, grueling, gut-wrenching even. No!  Not in my office. They think change takes a long time.  No!  Not with what I do.  Here’s the truth:  this work is fast and fascinating and FUN.

Hypnosis itself feels great, it’s a “close your eyes and relax” comfort and clarity of mind.  I guide a client to this state of mind and then I create a customized flow of direct and indirect suggestions, words, ideas, stories, and images that inspire change.  It’s a super pleasant, creative space. We spend about 30 to 40 minutes out of a session doing the hypnotherapy portion.

In the same session, we’ll spend a good solid hour or more doing NLP.  NLP, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, is my primary tool, and my expertise, as a Licensed Trainer of  NLP™ through the originator of NLP .  NLP involves playing mind games, following my step-by-step processes manipulating images, sounds, feelings, and beliefs, which have the effect of creating amazing instant change on an unconscious level. And yes, it’s SO MUCH FUN.

Some people come into my office thinking the experience is going to be boo hoo into the kleenex — telling sad stories, like “talk therapies” they may have experienced.  No way in h-e-double-toothpicks.  Never.  We don’t do that.  My office is filled with laughter.  We play with the STRUCTURE of thinking, not the content.  It’s a completely different focus and approach. And, obviously, it works.  Check out the over 160+ testimonials I have on http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net helping with everything under the sun.

People want results.  And so do I.  And how much better to achieve that success in a quick and fun manner with hypnosis and NLP.   Robert has learned what I do and it’s power for change, and what the experience itself is like.  You can, too.

Warm Regards,
Connie

Goodbye, Anxiety! Client Testimonial of Success for Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP.

Marcela KenevanMarcela Kenevan of Gig Harbor, WA came to me in a state of anxiety, fear and uncertainty over recent and unfolding events in her life.  Those unpleasant states of mind and body are over.  She’s feeling like herself again, confident and powerful, and happy.

What does NLP and hypnosis do?  It gets you in touch with your own resourcefulness (good feelings).  When you feel good, you think differently, and you make different and better choices for your life.  NLP updates the programming in your mind so that this new resourcefulness sticks and becomes the automatic you in the places where un-resourcefulness (bad feelings) used to live.  Change is amazingly fast.  NLP has been called “hypnosis on steroids.”  I think that’s accurate.  🙂

Here is Marcela, feeling good and sharing her new state of mind.  Hold on to your power state, Marcela.  It looks good on you.

Check out the positive power of hypnosis & NLP anytime.  We offer a free in-office consult, when you’d like to learn more.

Quit Smoking Success! Two Years and Counting and Still a Non-Smoker: Client Video Testimonial

Laurie Adams of SeaTac, WA. A real client, a real success story.
Laurie Adams of SeaTac, WA. A real client, a real success story.

This is the story of Laurie Adams.  40 years a smoker. A consistent smoker.  Now, that’s a “habit.” Fortunately, hypnosis is stronger and more powerful than any habit.

Two years ago, in April of 2012, Laurie came into my office at the prompting and personal recommendation of her physician.  She wanted to quit smoking.  She did just that.  It took all of two Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy sessions.  Two sessions!  To break a 40-year habit!

That’s power.  That’s success.  What’s even more “proof of the pudding,” it’s been two years now, and Laurie is STILL a non-smoker.  Going strong, and healthy.

If you think you’re beyond help, think again.  Think of something you haven’t tried.  Yet. That’s skilled hypnotherapy.  The power of the mind is greater than you think, and when these tools and techniques are artfully applied, well, magic happens.  I know it to be true.  And so does Laurie.

Here’s her video testimonial:

Good job, Laurie!  Here’s to the next 20 years and beyond, also as a non-smoker.

Warm Regards,
Connie

Change is Easy: Another Video Testimonial of Success for Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP.

Positive Changes, Quick
Positive Changes, Quick

There are so many myths and misunderstandings out and about in the universe.  One that I find particularly WRONG is this:  “change is slow and difficult.”  What if that idea were utter baloney?  What if that were only true for people who don’t have the right tools and training to make change happen fast and easily?

What if it was even worse than mere ignorance keeping people stuck in problem states?  What if the idea “change is difficult” were being actively perpetuated to keep people from living full, successful and empowered lives?  How would drug companies make their billions in profits and how would counselors be able to milk a client for years on end if change were easy?

Change IS easy, with the right tools skillfully wielded.  Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy(tm) is amazingly fast for successful positive changes of all varieties.  Behavioral changes.  Belief changes.  Feeling changes.  Here is another live testimonial of quick success.  Roberta Greenwood of Bellevue, WA had one session with me, and when she came in for her second session a week later, she gave her report:

“I had one session with Connie at Mindworks Hypnosis and what I’ve noticed is I have the ability to make better choices.  I have the ability to NOT go in and buy the cupcakes and the chocolate cake that I normally did.  And I have a belief system that tells me I don’t need that to be happy.   And that is a remarkable change for me.  I’m already feeling the shifts after one session.”

Her words are wonderful, however there is more to her message in her face and voice.  Awe and relief.  Watch:

Yes, one session and noticeable results.  When you’re serious about personal change, you’re not interested in a therapist who will milk you for years.  You want someone like me with a different business model.  My business model is:  be good, be quick, be efficient, help people ASAP to have what they want, and then they will tell their friends and family.  That’s how my business grows.  From success.

Find what works.  Michael and I are Licensed Trainers of NLP ™.  NLP has been rightly called “the magic of instant change.”  When you’re ready for “remarkable change” in your life, like Roberta here, give us a call.

Connie

It’s a Weighty Issue, Part III: Let’s Get Moving

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

I hope your New Year’s Resolutions are happening for you.  The most common one I’ve been hearing and helping with is “I’ve got to lose weight!”  My weight loss clients tell me: “I want to get moving! I need to get moving!”

Beyond food choice and portion control, motivation to exercise is high up on the list of changes desired for weight management. “Let’s get physical, physical! I wanna get physical …” That song with its driving beat makes me think of movement. Working out.  Active life. Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy is a way to make it happen.

Patterns and habits are learned. And, if they don’t serve us, they can be re-learned differently, in ways that help.

The “magic” of NLP is, simply put: We can attach new feelings to any activity. What would it be like to be full of energy and motivation to exercise? What if exercise became something wonderful and pleasurable and eagerly anticipated? What if your mind simply said: “This is who I am and this is what I do”? Do you suppose it would be easier to increase your physical activity level?

Here’s one unwanted pattern that I often see with clients:  couch potato. Are you one? That’s a person who has developed a habit of sitting around, watching TV or surfing the web, with a body at rest for hours at a stretch. Oftentimes, this is coupled with mindless eating. That’s a sure fire formula for obesity.

With hypnosis and NLP, we can change “I’m too lazy” and couch-potato habits into a new mindset about exercise. A new mindset leads to new behaviors. In our work, we create and install new, useful mindsets for exercise. Here are some examples:

–I love it. It’s fun.

Or…

–It’s my routine. It’s just who I am and what I do.

Or…

–I have to. (a sense of urgency and necessity)

Or…

A combination of any of the above.

New beliefs go with the new mindset:

–I’m an active person. I’m a healthy person. I have energy. I make the time to be physically active, as this is something wonderful for me. This is “me” time. I deserve healthy.

And new behaviors emerge:

I go to the gym. I go for walks. I find the time. I look for opportunities for movement, taking the stairs rather than the elevator, parking a little further from the store front, and so on.

Hypnosis (and in that word I include NLP) is a way to change your thinking and feeling and behaviors and beliefs to become who you want to be. It really is endlessly fascinating work as every person is different and their desires , beliefs and motivations are different. The game and the fun is finding what will work with each individual and installing those changes. This is why I often say hypnosis is an art form as much as it is a science.

Everyone on the planet knows how to lose weight. It’s a very simple and well-documented formula. Eat less, make healthy choices, and be more active. What stops you? We find out and we address those things and create new habits. The power of hypnosis and NLP is that they are tools that encourage new healthy behaviors, and help people automate those choices.

Motivation to be active physically is just one piece of this puzzle, within a larger framework of healthy changes.  Whatever needs tweaking, we go for it!  For more insight into the power of Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy for weight loss, here are two previous essays I’ve written for this series, one on food choice, and one on portion control.

An End to Fear of Public Speaking — Client Testimonial for Mindworks Hypnosis

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

When I meet new people they often ask the following question about hypnosis and NLP: “Sounds cool! But, does it really work?” I answer with a resounding: “YES!” Here’s more proof of the pudding.

A recent client came in to my Bellevue hypnosis office to end her fear and anxiety around speaking, in public and also in smaller groups, primarily in a business context. She did that! She ended her debilitating fear, successfully. Replaced it with calm, and even a sense of fun.  Here is her report after 3 sessions of Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy.

C.O. of Woodinville, WA. writes:

“I’m doing great! I can’t believe how relaxed I am when I speak, I’m having a lot more fun. You really changed my life. It seems like it’s getting better all the time. I’ve told a few people to go to you for their weight problems.  Happy 2014!  Thanks!”

Yay!  “You really changed my life.”  To be more accurate, we did it together.  This work is collaborative.  HER brain made the positive changes, and my tools and ingenuity to be creative with those tools sparked that change.  And yes, we put in suggestions to continue the flow of success, like a snowball rolling down the side of a snow-covered hill.  She noticed that as well:  “It’s getting better all the time.”

If you have positive changes in mind for yourself, and your life, we can do that!  Anytime.  Now is good.  Hypnosis works. You can make 2014 your happiest and healthiest year ever. Wouldn’t you also like to be able to say this about your life? “It’s getting better all the time.”

Warm Regards,
Connie

When to Say When: Portion Control for Weight Management

This is a very busy time of year for hypnotherapists. New Year’s Resolutions spur visits for weight loss, quitting smoking, and other positive changes. I know that any time you’re motivated for change is a good time to get started, whether that’s January 1st or any other date. Hypnosis “turbo-charges” the actualization of your goals.

I love helping people with weight loss. People come into my office and itemize their issues: what they eat, when they eat, why they eat (when they’re not hungry), how fast they eat, and all the accompanying aspects of self image and internal dialog, limiting beliefs, and so on. Many things need tweaking for success.

The topic of the moment is: Portion Control. When to say when. How to become attuned to the right amount of food for your body and energy needs. How to eat less and enjoy it more. Here is part two of my continuing essays on the various aspects of the “Weighty Issue” of weight loss and weight management, and the successes to be had through Neuro Linguistic Hypnotherapy.

Our mind has unconscious strategies for everything we do. How we act, how we think, what we choose, what we perceive as real. We acquire these strategies through learning. They become embedded in us like programs running on a computer, which we then call “habits.” Habits are learned, and they can be unlearned.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP–a conversational hypnosis) studies successful unconscious strategies, and we can grab, install, and live those strategies in ourselves. In studies of naturally slender people, we have successfully gathered naturally slender food strategies. Via NLP and hypnosis, we can install these into people who would benefit from them. This is a necessary piece of the work I do with clients! A client can adopt an unconscious new strategy and find themselves engaging in new behaviors without any mental effort.

We get clients in tune with physical hunger vs. emotional hunger. The mind can notice the difference. Emotional hunger is “fed” in new non-caloric ways. Physical hunger leads to a healthy choice strategy in the mind, meaning you’re more likely to reach for an apple rather than a cookie, a salad rather than a cheeseburger and fries. We implant a speed strategy, how fast to eat. Slowing it down is usually helpful. We implant a beverage of choice strategy: water! And then most importantly, we implant an exit strategy. When to STOP EATING. This is set at the point of satisfaction, when the body’s nutritional and energy needs are met in accordance with achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.

There are, sadly, desperate people out in the world who don’t realize the control they have over their own minds and bodies, and they go to bizarre extremes like surgeries that attempt to PHYSICALLY limit food intake. That’s not necessary! Installing new unconscious strategies with hypnosis creates better success, without the expense or health risks.

When it’s all said and done, the weight loss client finds themselves engaging in:
–Less emotional eating
–Healthier choices
–Smaller portions
–More satisfaction.

It’s all good.

If your unconscious strategies (habits around food) need adjustment, it’s so much easier than you think to make healthy changes. You can discover it for yourself any time. After January 1st or before.

Warm Regards,
Connie

It’s a Weighty Issue – Food Choice

Remove food temptations with hypnosis.
Goodbye, Willpower. And that's a good thing for weight loss.

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

The holidays are looming, and all those over-indulgence opportunities: holiday sweets and treats in the office, family parties, Turkey Day where the turkey isn’t the only thing getting “stuffed,” and so on are looming as well.

During the months of November and December, it’s easy to get wild and shelve healthy eating. It doesn’t have to be that way. At this very appropriate time, I’m offering a series of essays on weight management. Here’s number one!

It’s a Weighty Issue – Part I: Food Choice

It seems that a large percentage of the population is thinking about their weight at any given moment, reading about this new diet, that new food plan, purchasing diet products, and/or in the midst of dieting. Our weight truly is a national obsession.

So, why do diets and food plans fail so miserably to help people achieve a healthy weight and stay there? A “diet” is a conscious (thinking) endeavor. It involves analysis, logic, and willpower. That can’t cut it long term.

There’s more power in the mind beyond thinking.

Unconscious Drivers

We THINK we know why we do what we do. And we’d be wrong. Weight management and issues therein are a complex web beyond conscious choices. They involve unconscious patterns of behaviors, and embedded beliefs about ourselves and the world that can limit us. These unconscious drivers are just that, unconscious, beyond our awareness. They get embedded in us and like a program installed on a computer they run and run and run.

What is the benefit of hypnotherapy for weight loss? We can actually get in there and address and change these patterns of unconscious behaviors and limiting beliefs. Update the programs running in us. Change how we feel and what we do. These changes lead to long-term sustained weight loss success and weight management.

Weight loss is a weighty issue. Yes, it is. There’s a lot involved. In my office working with clients we address a variety of changes that may be useful. I’m planning a series of essays which I intend to share here on my blog, dealing with the issues hypnosis helps with, such as food choice, portion control, emotional eating, motivation to exercise, self image, negative self talk, limiting beliefs, time management and priorities, and more aspects of the weight management puzzle.

The number one change needed on everybody’s list is food choice — is there a predilection toward sugars and sweets? And/or too many carbs such as pasta, pizza, and potatoes? Not enough vegies? Drinking enough water? I’ve heard it all, uncontrollable attraction to unhealthy choices, such as cookies, chocolate, candy, cake, donuts, sugary sodas, French fries, chips, etc. And the gamut of ho-hum all the way to aversion responses to healthy choices.

Why Willpower Sucks

What is willpower? It activates during the “I want it” vs. “No, I’m not going to have it.” struggle. We’re torn between two competing desires. Willpower is the conscious mind taking control and activating a conscious decision. Usually, it’s the “no.” Willpower is weak. Willpower is difficult to maintain long term (yo-yo dieting proves this).

With skilled hypnosis, we erase the need for willpower altogether. Let me say that again. We get rid of any need for willpower. Willpower is forced to the surface when there’s a struggle. What if there were no struggle? What if your brain just said “no” automatically? There’d be no use for willpower and it wouldn’t even come into play. You’d just be doing something different because it feels right.

For example: I have no interest or desire to jump out of an airplane for sport. NONE. In fact, it’s not going to happen. It’s on my “no way” list. Do I obsess about jumping out of an airplane? Of course not. It never enters my mind. Do I struggle to force myself not to jump? Of course not. Do I jump? No. It’s not what I do. What if eating unhealthy became a “no” rather than a struggle? That’s what skilled hypnotherapy achieves. Will power goes back on the shelf. Don’t need it!

Beyond the Willpower Struggle

Here are some of my client results/comments regarding activation of this change:

“Hi Connie, Just had to send along this spread of the party I was at last night. All of the things I find the hardest to resist! Meats, cheeses, bread, crackers, nuts. It was so nothing to me! I didn’t have ONE THING! And the best part was I didn’t WANT one thing!

It’s just so amazing to me. I am sure it’s “another day at the office” for you but, for me…oh my goodness it was so awesome to not obsess over having it or not…wow. Thank you!!!”  – Lori H., Mercer Island, WA

Is her willpower in play? No. The craving for these particular food choices is gone.

“I’ve lost 40# in 4 months… My sweet tooth and chip obsession disappeared overnight. My self esteem skyrocketed. It’s been months since I’ve seen you and yet I’m still right on track with my goals.”  E. – Seattle. Is her willpower in play? No.

“I don’t crave ice cream at all now! Or chocolate. I am in shock!!!” — Saliha B., Issaquah, WA. Is her willpower in play? No.

I hope you get the picture here. These people are not “dieting” to avoid sweets and “temptations” and they’re not struggling, they’re just automatically choosing different in ways that serve their weight management success. That’s what skilled hypnosis can do. Hypnosis creates the positive changes that move people by addressing and changing the unconscious patterns. No diet can do that.

Keep reading here for continuing essays on the various aspects of the Weighty Issue of weight loss and weight management, and the successes to be had through Neuro Linguistic Hypnotherapy.

Warm Regards,
Connie
