Hi, there!
My mom liked yellow. Bright sunshine-y yellow. She used it in her artist’s pallette, she decorated her home with it. Our kitchen growing up–bright yellow. Yellow curtains, yellow walls, yellow touches. Warm. Welcoming. Love. I like yellow, too. 🙂 She also liked rose color, and had in reality a pair of “rose colored glasses.”
When you think of happy, what color is it? I like red. Bright, vibrant, jewel tone red. That’s excited and happy.
One of the things you learn in NLP, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, is that you can create more of what you want in your life and less of what you don’t want in your life by simply adjusting the representations of the world in your own mind. Sounds easy. (It is.) Sounds simplistic. (It is.) But, guess what…it’s amazingly powerful and it works to make permanent and positive shifts in your life. One of those possible adjustments in submodalities (as they’re called) of your internal representations is color.
When you identify a color that when you consider it, makes you feel happy, take that color and use it. Use it like a wash of watercolor paint and splash it, overlay it on your internal visual of any situation that needs more happy in it. If you have an internal picture which feels negative when you think of it, and the visual is dark, gloomy, full of rain clouds, pour in the sunshine. If yellow is your happy color, fill the picture with a golden glow. Imagine the light shifting in that image. The quality of the light shifting. The color shifting. Your feelings shift as well.
Here’s another experiment! 🙂 If a problem is bright and vivid, take the color out of it. Nullify it. Take a tension headache. Imagine a color for it. Change the color. Lessen its intensity. Drain the color out of it. Make it turn into opaque, crystalline, clear, fading, fading the color. The discomfort fades, too. Now, of course, I have to lay out a disclaimer. I’m not medical and headaches may indicate a medical issue which may require medical treatment–see your doctor for headaches, especially if it’s unexplained, recurring or sustained. But for a run of the mine head discomfort (I get that with caffeine withdrawal), play with the color experiment.
NLP is really amazing, and my clients are often amazed as well. Their conscious minds are trying like mad to understand how it is that they feel so dramatically different (and better) so suddenly. Improving confidence, reducing fear, reducing stress, removing cravings for nicotine and sugar and so on. “How can it be so easy?” It just is. NLP has been called “hypnosis on steroids.” Yes, it is.
If you want a taste of that, and help to add some new color to your life, call me. It’s not just a new color, it’s new sound, feeling, taste, smell, and pictures. It’s a new creation–called your life how you want it. Better than Burger King’s “have it your way.” You can, you know, have it your way. Your life, that is.
Warm Regards,
Connie
PS: That beautiful watercolor artwork there was painted by my mother, artist Francine Porad. 🙂

He was magnificent. Dark gray, and sat in the tree right outside my office window most of the day. You couldn’t miss him–I think he was two feet tall. Riveting! Beautiful. Magical.

The proof is in the pudding, and your body and mind and LIFE and energy are the pudding. Who wants to get cookin’ on this with me? These tools work.
She was right. It’s all a spin of our own creation. She chose one that she loved. Me, too.

“Over the 20 + years of being a smoker, I have made several attempts and used a variety of methods to try and quit…. all unsustainable. I was always thinking about smoking or not smoking which made the battle to quit miserable and in the end I’d go back and have ‘just one more’.

It doesn’t matter WHAT you are resolving to do, hypnosis can give you that directed focus and acceleration, like stepping on the gas pedal in your car. You select the destination, hypnosis is both the GPS (how to get there) and the thrust forward of stepping on the gas. Resolve. Rocky was hypnotized. He hypnotized himself into power. We are all capable of this, but it’s a heck of a lot easier to have a professional communicator help it to happen faster and more easily.
