I have a car. I love my car. She’s a good baby. Her name is “Midnight.” She’s reliable, dependable, comfortable, and beautiful. LOVE my car, and I’ve had her for a long time. Last night, she got a thorn in her paw. 🙁 Flat tire. 🙁
I had an evening client appointment, and when I was preparing to leave my office, the parking lot and area was pretty much deserted. I noticed the back tire was going FLAT! Oh, no! Yikes! AAA to the rescue. Yay. That took about an hour. And they put the temporary rubber “donut” tire on.
So, this morning, Michael and I were off to get the flat tire fixed. Not how I was planning on beginning my holiday weekend. We went to the dealership and they told us to leave the car with them ALL DAY, or minimally, 2.5 hours to repair the flat. What?? No way. We took off to find another repair shop.
We found one and they fixed the tire in 45 minutes. Yay! On the road again. We ran an errand to the bank, and I was getting out of the car, and suddenly, without conscious thought, my attention was drawn to the front passenger side tire. “What’s THAT?” I leaned over for a closer look. It was a silver disk, the flat side of a nail, embedded in the front tire. Had the tire been in a different position, I wouldn’t have seen it. Wow! ANOTHER flat tire. In the making. We could hear the air leaking when we tried to pry on the thing.
Back to the repair shop! Clerk told us: “There’s a limit of one flat tire a day!” 🙂 We got it taken care of.
I’ve just had two flat tires, so why do I feel so LUCKY? Because I am lucky. Lucky we didn’t have the two flat tires at once (we only have one spare), the car would have had to be towed. Lucky to have noticed that second nail. We were not stranded a second time, and we could have been. It could have been so much worse. This is a holiday weekend. Sunday things are closed. Monday things are closed. It would have been massively more inconvenient, disabled again, perhaps on the side of the road, and another call and wait for AAA, and a search for an open repair place. We escaped the ordeal, all because I noticed the second nail before the tire was flat.
How did I notice the nail? I wasn’t looking, and yet I saw. A tiny disk of silver as I was moving past the car towards the bank. The technician at the auto repair shop didn’t notice it, and he had the car up on the lift as he was working on it, and presumably checked the air pressure in all the tires. How did I notice? I wasn’t even consciously looking at the tire. I was not thinking about the tire. My unconscious mind noticed, and decided it was important information, and then that noticing worked its way in my conscious awareness. I love my unconscious mind.
That’s how it works. Your unconscious mind gets information (thought/feeling) as to what you want, and makes it happen. My unconscious mind knew that it should take care of this for me in the most minimally aggravating way possible, and so it did. In hypnosis, we focus the unconscious mind to “make it so,” it being your desires. This adventure in flat-tire-land reaffirms to me that this is so–the unconscious mind makes adjustments in your life, in your perceptions, nudging you to new actions, to help you get what you want. Thank you, unconscious mind! 🙂
Happy Holidays, guys!
