8 Years! Happy Anniversary to Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP!

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

This morning Linkedin told me that people were congratulating me on an event — my 8 years work anniversary. It’s nice to remember the things I had forgotten to notice. I began my business, Mindworks Hypnosis, in January, 2007. Eight years! Happy Anniversary to me.

When I discovered the helping power and the absolute creative joy of doing NLP, (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and Hypnotherapy, I quit my job as a Bookkeeper/Office Manager, created this business, and I’ve never looked back. Dozens of additional hypnosis and NLP trainings under the belt, three different offices and thousands of clients later, and I love this work more than ever. This has been the best eight years of my life!

I remember my first paying client, she was a girl named Heather who wanted to stop fingernail biting. She had one session with me, and she was successful. She was also my first testimonial, which is still on my website:, http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net:

“I had a manicure last night…I haven’t had a strong urge to bite my nails and I can’t exactly find the words but it is an amazing feeling. Thanks so much, Connie!” –Heather R., Seattle

When I started this job, I got some really bad business advice:  To pretend I’m good at only one thing.  To market myself as a “specialty.”  To say I’m the hypnosis weight loss specialist.  Or, I’m the hypnosis quit smoking specialist.  I refused then and now to limit the power of what I do.  My expertise is in facilitating change in unconscious strategies for behaviors and beliefs and states of mind and body in any realm of activity whatsoever.

In the eight years, I’ve successfully helped an amazing variety of clients, from weight loss, quit smoking, ending fear and anxieties, all the way to working with  pro and Olympic athletes, clients with addictions (drugs, alcohol, gambling, sugar, and etc.).  Helping kids with study skills, confidence, and self esteem, helping with physical and accelerated healing, helping stroke survivors with mental function, helping erase blocks to business success, improved sleeping, improved memory, improved intimacy, and so on. As we say at Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP, if the mind is involved in the activity (which is EVERYTHING), then hypnosis helps.

Lots of people in life are looking to “find their passion.” The thing they love doing and are good at, which utilizes and highlights their strengths.  The thing that they would choose above all other careers.  The thing that makes them smile in the morning, excited and happy to be going to work.  I found mine, and this is it!

All the Best,
Connie

It’s Time! Hypnosis for your New Year’s Resolutions!

Seattle's Best Hypnotherapy at Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP
Time for Skilled Hypnosis & NLP!

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

Did you see the New Year’s fireworks celebration at the Seattle Space Needle?  I did!  It’s officially here, happy 2015!

“It’s time!”

Those are action activating words for me, and I hope for you as well. It’s time.

It’s the first week of January.  Time for assessing the new year ahead and taking stock of healthy goals. It’s time to lose that extra weight you’ve been carrying around.  It’s time to stop buying and smoking those ridiculously expensive and unhealthy cigarettes.

It’s time to dump the fear that’s been holding you back from truly experiencing and enjoying life and connecting with others:  fear of public speaking, fear of flying, fear of rejection…(you fill in the blank).  Fear is often unnecessary, and we can communicate that fact to the mind, on unconscious levels, and choose something different.

People tend to work those New Year’s Resolutions for a a day or two, a week or two, then give up.  You don’t have to go it alone when there is skilled help available.

I love what I do.  I help activate people’s desires and make them real.  My work (hypnosis and NLP Neuro-Linguistic Programming® ) is a joy-maker and a success-maker.  This time of year, people are very in touch with those desires–we call them New Year’s Resolutions.  Let’s make them real.  Call me and I’ll set up a free in person consultation in my office in Bellevue to explain the work I do and how your dreams CAN become reality.  (425) 564-8608.

Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy is more powerful than “traditional” hypnotherapy alone. NLP is a conversational hypnosis that speaks directly to the mind beyond conscious thought, using the currency of life experience:  sights, sounds, smells, taste, emotion, and it’s an amazing success accelerant.  NLP is my prime work tool, as I am and Michael is also, a Licensed Trainer of NLP ® through the originator of NLP. There are only a few dozen of us at that skill & certification level working and teaching NLP in the United States.

Tick.  Tick.  Tick.  Time is moving.  And life is happening.  If you want yours to be different in positive ways that you have resolved, the time is now.

All the Best,
Connie

Ever So Much More So – the Generative Power of Hypnosis

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

When I was a kid growing up in the Seattle area I had a book of stories. One was called “Ever so much more so.” It was about an invisible, magical powder in a can which you could sprinkle on things and improve them. Sprinkle “ever so much more so” on a donut or on a cup of coffee and you would have an ever so much more so delicious donut or the best coffee ever (does Starbucks know about this?)

This magical powder was an intensifier, just as it could make anything better, it could also make things worse. If you didn’t like coffee to begin with, sprinkling it with the magical powder would make you dislike it “ever so much more so.” The secret ending to the story (spoiler alert!), there was actually nothing at all in the can–the changes were created through imagination.

I often share here on my blog and in my newsletter an idea: what you focus on expands. Your mind is the intensifier–your mind is the “ever so much more so.” If you focus your attention on what you don’t want, you get more of what you don’t want appearing in your world. If you focus your attention on what you do want, you get more of that. Focus affects our outcomes, which I know to be true from my years of work as well as my years of LIFE!

How, then, do we control our focus and, thus, our outcomes? Hypnosis! Focusing your attention on a problem state (as different talk therapies like to do) wraps you much tighter into the problem. Focusing your mind on solutions and the positive things you want instead (via hypnosis), moves you in a different and more successful direction.

I’ve been working with a lovely lady who is a professional musician. Her problem was performance anxiety. That’s gone. Now she says she wants to “grow as a musician.” We can do that. Hypnosis is also powerful for what is called “generative change.” Taking what we’re already good at and making it “ever so much more so.”

I’ve worked with a variety of clients for this type of change, most notably athletes, from hobbyists all the way to Olympic and even an “in the record books” Pro athlete has been in my hypnosis chair. They’re good to great at what they do, however, they want more. They want “greater.” Hypnosis can do that! I’ve also worked with musicians, singers, novelists, day traders, artists and creative people of all varieties.

That’s my joy. I do like helping people fix problems–quit smoking, lose weight, end fear, and such. But helping people be ever so much more so creative, powerful and successful at the things they love, that’s what I love best. When I discovered hypnosis, my life changed. So can yours.

Happy New Years to all my Readers!

All the Best,
Connie

A New Course at Bellevue College – NLP for Dating and Relating

Hi, Hypnosis Friends & Enthusiasts!

The work I do and teach in the Seattle area is hypnosis and NLP, Neuro Linguistic Programming — amazing methodologies for personal development and goal getting, goal achievement. Hypnosis and NLP are applicable and wonderful for so many varieties of change — from weight management to phobia fixes, to behavioral changes such as quit smoking and stop fingernail biting, to sports enhancement to improving relationships and communications, and pretty much any activity where your brain is involved.  (ALL!)

In the realm of that last category, relationships and communications, I am offering a new course at Bellevue College this winter quarter.  It’s called:  NLP for Dating and Relating. NLP has been called “hypnosis on steroids.”

http://www.campusce.net/BC/course/course.aspx?C=13808&pc=1817&mc=1893&sc=

Here’s the course description for NLP for Dating and Relating:

Are you interested in dating or improving relationships with those around you? Effective communication can improve any relationship! You will learn how to build rapport and connect with people in the best way possible, both socially and in business contexts. Create states of mind and body in yourself (such as confidence and joy) that lead to effective communications. NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) is a methodology of effective communications, both on the conscious and unconscious level. Connie Brannan is a Licensed Trainer of NLP ®.

NLP for Dating and Relating
Item: W9509 Connie Brannan
7:00 PM – 9:00 PM North Campus Room: V1021
Sessions: 1 W Address: 14673 NE 29th Place Bellevue, WA 98007
3/18/2015 – 3/18/2015 Fee: $49.00

What is NLP?  I talk about that here:

The course, a one night, 2-hour adventure, is all about building new states in ourselves that enhance communications, confidence, ease, flow of words, sharp-minded, humor, and so on.  It’s also about understanding rapport (positive connections between people) and how to facilitate rapport.–PHYSICALLY.  And verbally.  It’s fun, cool, stuff. And super powerful.

My goal for the course is that people should walk out the door after the class feeling more empowered and positive, with tools to use for improved communications.  I’d love for you to join me!

Creative Juices Hypnosis

Seattle hypnotherapy.
Hypnosis for Brain Power

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

I hope your holiday season is off to a smashing start.  More fun to continue…

I was musing this morning on the nature of change.  Change is what I sell.  Change is good. Change is choice.

There are really two kinds of change.   Fixing a problem type of change, quit smoking, lose weight, etc.  And that’s a great thing to accomplish!  However, there’s another kind of change, and that’s taking what is already good and making it better.  That’s called “generative change.”

I love helping people get their creativity and imaginations soaring.  Artists, musicians, athletes, writers, stock traders, people seeking a new career path.  🙂  People who are already doing well, but want more.  More power, more strength, more creativity, more “go for it.”  Marcela Kenevan of Gig Harbor, WA was one of my recent clients and she reports this type of change:

“I feel incredible. Woke up today brimming with creative inspiration.”  –Marcela Kenevan

Yay, Marcela!  You go, girl!

I’ve had an ongoing debate with several people for several years about what is more valuable to life success:  knowledge vs. creativity.  I vote for creativity.  So did Albert Einstein.  He said:

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”

If you need a boost of creative juice flow for any endeavor in life, think about hypnosis for that jump start.  It works!

All the Best,
Connie

“At Cause” Your Life to be Wonderful

Hypnosis is Empowerment
Hypnosis is Empowerment.

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

Happy November. Michael and I wish you and yours some fabulous holidays. 🙂

Speaking of fabulous, I’m often asked “What is hypnosis all about?” Here is another answer. It’s about moving yourself from “I can’t.” to “Yes, I can!” It’s empowerment. Here are some thoughts I’ve written up on the empowerment power of hypnosis!

There are unhappy people in the world who say: “I can’t!” and they make excuses. There are people in the world who let their lives be limited. They feel trapped or stuck. “My life sucks.”

On the flip side, there are powerful people in the world who say: “Yes, I can!” And they do. They say: “I’m going for it! I choose how I live.”

Which describes you? And, which would you rather be?

Empowerment. Hypnotherapy and particularly, NLP, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, are about opening up the mind to new, more desired choices and new possibilities. And making them happen.

A problem is really a problem only if you believe it to be. Henry Ford, the famous automaker, had that wonderful saying: “If you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right!” Hypnotherapy is all about “Yes, I can.” The belief controls the actions and outcomes. Hypnotherapy empowers useful beliefs.

In my line of work there is a terminology to describe this empowered vs. unhappy state of mind. It’s called being “at cause” vs. being “at effect.” Being “at cause” means I cause my world to be what I choose it to be. Power. Choice. Control. Being “at effect” means I am a cork bobbing on the ocean, helpless to the seas and currents. “At effect” means no control, feeling like a victim.

An aside: Now, this is funny. My speech to text program heard “at effect” as “a defect.” “Being a defect means you are a cork…” And people actually do get this idea. They think of themselves as having a defect, something defective about them, their mind, their personally. I say no way! What we do and how we live, it’s all a choice. And what’s nice about choice is that we can always choose something new at any time.

It is my belief and also the premise of the work I do that people are infinitely resourceful. They do have choices. What I do is open up more choices for them. It’s so easy to do this. Fear is a choice. Calm is a different choice. Overeating is a choice. Healthy eating is a different choice. Smoking is a choice. Not smoking is a different choice. “At effect” people have no idea of their own ability to choose, they live their life in that victim mentality feeling trapped. It doesn’t have to be that way. While other therapies which activate conscious resourcing offer a very limited utility for change, hypnosis kicks “at effect” out the door.

Here’s an example from my work. I had a client who is a musician. She had a fear and anxiety around solo performances. She had been to other therapists for months who made her examine in infinite detail her life history, her relationship with her parents and the deep, deep, deep, psychological reasons for the existence of her problem. Guess what? That didn’t fix it. She came to me and one session of NLP/hypnotherapy later she is performing without anxiety. It’s a new choice that her mind has chosen. I want calm and confident! Okay let’s do that! (That’s where hypnosis and NLP come in, they can do that!) This change in a person’s thinking, that’s being “at cause.”

If only the world knew how easy it is to be powerful.

I believe everyone is capable of choice. Everyone is capable of making their life better. Everyone is capable of getting the life they want. These tools I use are so fast and fascinating. and they result in a life being “at cause”. That means we make choices that bring us happiness, joy, health, and success of all varieties.

Another benefit of all this, the bridge burns after you cross it. When you become a person “at cause,” the excuses for things not being the way you want them to be dry up. You’re not making excuses anymore, you’re taking action. And creating change and success. Once we see ourselves as powerful and in control of our choices and outcomes, there’s no going back. And that’s wonderful. With the right tools, flipping that switch, power ON, in the mind can happen faster than you think.

Warm Regards,
Connie

Why Halloween is a very Hypnotic Holiday

Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

When I was little, this was my favorite holiday.  Perhaps it still is.  However, the appeal is not the sugar rush, nowadays.  It’s something more wonderful, and more useful, called imagination. Tonight I’ll be handing out candy to the neighborhood hobgoblins, and I get to see imagination in action.

I was in a coffee shop awhile ago, and a little boy and girl came up to me and informed me that they were, respectively, a princess and SUPERMAN!!!  He told me that with passion and intense conviction, and although he wasn’t wearing his costume at the moment, I could see it.  Yes, he was superman.

Knowing that you’re superman is a good thing.

Imagination is power.  To an unimaginative adult, a chair may be just a chair–something to sit on.  To a child, a chair may be so much more, a car, a pony, a fort to climb on, a spaceship.  What I love about Halloween is that it allows adults to reconnect to this essential and playful imagination that we all had as children.  I was at the costume store the other day, and saw imagination in full play.  Adult imagination.  Adults looking at, trying on, playing with Halloween costumes, and props–faces alive with “let’s pretend.”  Yes, I AM a pirate!   There was a magic in that store, and a life and energy that you don’t find in everyday life.  Simply:  it’s imagination.  One of the “rules of the mind” I teach in my Bellevue College courses is that “imagination is more powerful than knowledge.”  Yes, it is!

I love imagination.  It’s the stock in trade of what I do.  Helping people change, in ways they want to.  But, before they can do that, they have to have the imagination to see life could be different.  They must be able to imagine themselves cigarette-free, thinner, more successful, etc.

That’s part of what I help them do–because I can see it for them.  Clearly!  A person can come into my office with 50 pounds to lose, and I can fully imagine them thinner and healthier and living life with full passion.  It’s who they really are.  I can “see” their face thinner.  Their body slimmer.  I can see twitching turn to calm.  I can see happiness instead of depression.  Hypnosis helps me communicate what I know is true for them.  When people are feeling “stuck” in their lives, partly it’s because they’ve stomped down this innate childlike ability to see the world as full of possibility and potential.  I help people reconnect with that ability, and change is streamlined.

Halloween is something wonderful in that it allows us to play and imagine.  That’s a muscle worth stretching.

All the Best to you and yours this holiday,
Connie

What is NLP? It’s “Hypnosis on Steroids!”

Neuro Linguistic Programming
Neuro Linguistic Programming

Hi, Hypnosis Friends & Enthusiasts!

People come to my Bellevue hypnosis office because they want something different.  Something different to do, or something different NOT to do.  To get over negative emotions, to create a desired outcome, success, of all varieties.   NLP, Neuro Linguistic Programming, is my number one go-to tool to help.

After I explain hypnosis and hypnotherapy, I’m often asked:  “What IS NLP?”  Here’s a video where I explain:

As I say in the description of this video on my Youtube channel: “This methodology and mindset helps us take control of our experience of life! How we feel, how we think, what we DO…it’s all movable furniture and we, each of us, is the movin’ man! We can get the life we want.”

A hypnotherapy session in my office is really two sessions in one, in that it also includes a full NLP session as well as traditional hypnosis.  I call what I do “Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy™.”  What I do is very different from other therapies and even from other hypnotherapists.  🙂  The approach is different from other therapies in that it is one of empowerment.  NLP is my favorite thing, as well as my expertise. It’s the difference which makes the difference.

What is NLP?  Another tool for unconscious communication.  It’s been called “hypnosis on steroids.”  That’s because it works so amazingly well and fast when the practitioner is skilled and creative.  I am a Licensed Trainer of NLP ® through the Society of NLP ™ which is a source of great pride for me.  There are only a few dozen such trainers in the entirety of the US, licensed through Dr. Richard Bandler, the co-originator of NLP.  My husband, Michael,  (also one of those Licensed Trainers of NLP ® ) and I operate a Licensed Private Career School here in Washington State, Mindworks NLP, and we teach and offer NLP certifications.  NLP is cool.  NLP is fun.  NLP is amazing.  My students get so excited by it that they have been known to start chanting in class:  “NLP!  NLP!  NLP!”

It’s actually pretty rare that a Licensed Trainer ® is also doing one on one client work as well as teaching groups.  I see private clients because this is my passion and my fun.  You can learn more here, anytime, at my client website, and here, my school website. I do hope you will discover the power of NLP at some point in your life. It’s worth knowing.

All the Best,
Connie

Discover the Magic of Skilled NLP and Hypnotherapy.

I love this video.  It demonstrates SKILL:

When a person is passionate about what they do, it shows. It shines.  Because they learn and practice and get good at it.  They take joy and pride in it.  They don’t settle for “just ok.” They want more.  This man has practiced with his cards.  🙂

This is a mindset I like, because it’s also mine.  It shows in the work I do as  Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP.

In one of my earliest hypnosis trainings, the instructor referred to hypnotherapy as a “Matchbook Profession.”  That’s not a compliment.  It means you learn it for a buck and it’s a by the numbers affair, involving reading purchased scripts at people.  No way, Jose.  Perhaps some hypnotherapists are of that mindset and modus operandi, not me. This is an art, and endlessly creative, and there’s always more to learn, which is why I’m drawn to it.

Skilled hypnosis is Mindworks Hypnosis. My goal is and always has been, client successes.  When a client “wins” (successfully gets his goal), I win.  And I’m passionate about winning.

If you’ve tried some other therapies and even some other hypnotherapist or purported NLP practitioner and were not impressed with the results, go for someone  more creative, skilled and passionate.  You may be awesomely surprised at how quickly life improves for you.

All the best,
Connie

Goodbye, Cigarettes. We’re Not Friends Anymore.

Stop Smoking with Seattle's Best Hypnotherapists - Mindworks Hypnosis.
Seattle client crushed the smoking habit!

Another happy, successful client joins the ranks of “nonsmoker.” He smoked for 40 years, and quit in one Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy™ session with me.

He sent a follow up report, which he is allowing me to share:

“Hi Connie, Hey, first of all, let me say Thank You! Haven’t had a cigarette since our session on 8/26 at 12:30pm PDT. So, that’s a record for me. What’s it been now… 6 weeks! After ~40 years of smoking, that’s the longest abstinence to date. So far so good. Thanks again.” – Wishes-to-Remain-Anonymous, Seattle, WA.

Yay!  More success.  The world needs to know that skilled hypnosis kicks smoking’s butt.  If you’ve tried other things, and those “didn’t work,” try something new.  Something that does work.  NLP is “hypnosis on steroids.”  Skilled NLP is “magic” according to a recent client of mine.  It might seem like magic, but really it’s just the power of understanding how the mind works and how to make rapid changes as useful and as desired.  When you think differently, you do differently.  Change really IS that easy.

Quitting smoking is just the tip of the iceberg of possibility with hypnosis.  Michael and I have a saying at Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP:  “If it involves the mind, hypnosis helps improve performance.”  From weight management to sports performance, to removing fears and phobias, to physical changes such as accelerated healing, to ending “addictions” of all varieties, hypnosis is the real deal.  Find a practitioner of these arts who is the real deal as well.  http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net

Happy Five Year Anniversary to “The Hypnotizer!”

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

It’s a landmark.  🙂  Five years!!  It’s been five years this month that I’ve been sharing my thoughts, insights, and passion for hypnosis and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and the power of the mind here on this blog.  I’ve shared articles I’ve written, stories, client successes, videos I’ve created, event notices, musings, and more.  All original content. My thoughts, my voice, my stories.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading, watching, learning, and thinking about the things that I have shared here.  I love what I do, and I love when someone realizes “yes, I can” and creates a better life.  Empowerment, that’s hypnosis.  Thanks for joining me on this ride into the power of personal change! If you’re new to my blog, I invite you to check out the full archive!  It’s located on the upper right column, midway down.  “Archives.”  Five years worth of reading pleasure.

To celebrate this landmark, I’ll be pulling out some vintage articles and stories from my blog that I’ve written and share them again.  Here’s one of my earliest posts from October 2009.

It’s cold and flu season (but not for me!)

Hi, guys! Who watches television? (Raising my own hand, but only half way.) 🙂 I hardly watch at all any more, because the quality of “what’s on” is going down, down, down, and my time for leisure is going down as well. That’s a good thing, but that’s also another topic. This one is:

Dramatic pause. Negative suggestions.

Watching TV this past week, I can’t help but notice the BOMBARDMENT of ads right now, commercials for cold & flu medicines and paraphernalia. Here’s the message: “It’s cold and flu season.” and that means “You’re going to get sick., you can expect to get sick.” I also notice that the stores are stocking the aisles with cold and flu medicines and products–prominent and in-your-face, on the end caps and special displays, with alarming banners warning that cold and flu season is here! Same message: “It’s time for you to get sick now! You’re going to get sick now.” It’s not a warning, per se, it’s a directive! It’s a negative suggestion. And our minds seem quite willing to embrace it without question!

Michael has a story he likes. He was in a work training with a woman. She told this story: She knew that every year she would have one bout of illness per cold and flu season, one only. The reason she’d only have one was because she’d prepare for it, and take massive doses of vitamins. She knew that she’d only get sick once! Her vitamins would protect her from further illness! And yes, it did transpire that she’d only get sick once per winter/season. BUT…one winter she got so busy and forgot to prepare with her vitamins, didn’t think about it at all. Guess what? She didn’t get sick that winter. Not once. Not at all. She forgot to get sick!!

Here’s a personal story about my personal experiences. This is NOT medical advice, because…I’m not medical. I’m a hypnotist. And here’s one positive side effect I enjoy from my hypnosis. Your mileage may vary.

I don’t get sick, either. Ever. Because I’ve decided not to. I USED to get sick, just like everyone else. Two major colds a year. At LEAST two. Until I discovered hypnosis and how the mind processes ideas and suggestions. Three years, (as of this writing, October 2009) and I haven’t been sick. Not a sniffle. I did have food poisoning for one day (some bad shrimp on a Vegas buffet), but it ended quite quickly. I don’t get sick because my unconscious mind rejects the idea, and does what it needs to do to make sure I stay well–strengthening my immune system, or whatever it wants to do. I can happily trust my unconscious to keep me well, and ignore those nitty gritty details as well. I don’t care how. I just know it’s in place. Wellness. I can hang around sick people, avoid hand sanitizer, ignore those commercials and product displays, no flu shot for me, and stay well. Three years and counting…

Hypnosis is incredibly powerful. And our understanding is just a miniscule slice of that giant cake. There’s so much more to know and learn. The unconscious mind knows how to keep us healthy. I talk to the mind in ways it likes, to do just that!

What do you suppose would happen if you decided to stay well this winter?

Warm Regards,
Connie

Hypnosis Works for a New Mind Set for Weight Loss and Healthy Living

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

What’s your weight loss goal? Is it a number on a scale, or is it an improved way of being, a new mindset, a new healthy outlook, a new energy? This reminder on the scale was created by a brilliant young mind, age 13. And, as I know to be true, feeling better about yourself leads to the numbers on the scale going down, down, down.

Here’s the message, which I think is massively inspirational and should be taken to heart.

“It’s just a number…REALLY.

This number on this scale will NOT tell you:

* What a great person you are
* how many people love you and how much
* That you are kind, smart, funny, and amazing in ways numbers cannot define
* That you have power to choose happiness.
* Your own self-worth
* how beautiful you are

You are more than a number.”

When you’re ready for a healthy change, hypnotherapy helps.  I did hypnotize this little girl for healthy eating awhile ago.  She’s in the right mindset for success.  You can join her there anytime.

Warm Regards,
Connie

Sounds Good – NLP for Personal Change

Adjusting Sounds with NLP

Hi, Seattle Area Hypnosis Friends!

Here is an article I’ve written about the power of the mind and the power of NLP to make positive changes in life.  I use these same amazingly successful techniques involving sound to guide clients to personal change in my Bellevue NLP and hypnotherapy clinic.

The topic is sound…music, speech, how the soundtrack of our lives influences our emotional states.  And how WE can enhance this and alter this influence for our own well-being.  We can do all sorts of things, for example release negative emotions, create motivation, move us forward in our desires.  By “tinkering” with sound in our minds!

Music moves us, elevates us, stirs our emotions, in the direction of any emotion you can name.  Think of a march by John Phillip Sousa, or how any stirring anthem activates our feelings of patriotism.  Think how a quiet, beautiful orchestral piece of music calms and relaxes.  Think of a horror movie soundtrack, full of tension and suspense.  Sound is a huge part of our experience of our lives and key to our memories and emotional states.  Imagine a love movie with no soundtrack–would it have the same emotional impact?  No!

By altering the sounds we play in our minds in simple ways, we can experience life differently, more positively, and here are a few easy ideas to do so:

That's RidiculousWe’ve all had arguments, with a coworker, with a spouse, with a friend, and sometimes they “eat” at us.  We play them over and over in our minds, and churn up even more negative emotions like anger and irritation.  Here’s something to do:  as you think about that argument, create a new soundtrack.  Let the voices fade and cue in the circus music.  Clown music.  Carnival music.  Play that for awhile as the argument runs in your mind, and let it transform your experience of the argument.  Done?  Great!  Now, think about it.  That argument seems kind of silly, doesn’t it?  Less power.  Less force to disturb.  And that’s a GOOD thing.

Here’s another use for improving your life with sound.  You want to get to the gym, you know you need to exercise.  You want to exercise, but somehow…you just aren’t doing it.  Here’s what gets me going, and pumps up my motivation.  The Rocky Theme.  You know the one, where he’s running up the steps in Philadelphia:  “getting strong now, gonna fly now…”  Play that music in your mind when you want a lift of success and motivation.  The resultant emotion will propel you out the door and to the gym.  Or insert any other inspirational music which speaks to you.  Movies are a great source to reference, because we all know them.  You can pump up your confidence as well with music such as Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Superman.

Here’s another wonderful use of this:  play with sound to combat what we call “negative self talk.”  That’s the little critical voice in your mind always telling you what you can’t accomplish, and spraying you with curses:  “You’re lazy!,” “You’re stupid!,” “You’ll never get it done!” and so on.  Imagine that voice to be a different voice, a silly voice, a cartoon voice.  Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Elmer Fudd, something ridiculous.  Hear the same words in that new, ridiculous, cartoon voice.  Maybe it’s a squeaky, high pitched cartoon voice.  “You’re lazy!”  The impact on you is different, isn’t it?  Now it’s absurd, and not to be taken seriously.  The voice is a joke!

The secret here, we can choose how we feel.  Play with these simple techniques above involving sound to feel good now!

Hypnosis for Enhanced Learning – Curiosity for the Win!

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

It’s time for back to school, isn’t it?  And that means time to learn.  Accelerated and enhanced learning is another category under the heading:  hypnosis helps!  Yes, it does!  I love helping clients create useful states of mind for any activity, including learning, with hypnosis and NLP.

Please watch this charming video, below.  The boy is FIVE YEARS OLD!!  🙂  His father says the key element to his son’s learning to read is his “curiosity.” That’s high up on my list of useful resources for self and clients, as well.  If you don’t have it, we can create it.  For learning states, I like to create a blend of attention (focus), curiosity, confidence, and “I love it” (a sense of passion and fun).

Learning, studying, absorbing information, test-taking, giving presentations. Hypnosis helps with all of that.  Here’s how it works.  We create a new way to feel in the context, and that loops with a new way to think, and that loops with a new way to act.  New behaviors.  And it’s all good, and all designed for your success and goals.  Like the little boy in the video, the right state of mind for learning to read (curiosity) leads to a wonderful outcome.

Just an FYI, I do work with kids.  I’ve done hypnotherapy with as young as six years old. Young people make the best hypnotic clients!

You can’t learn well if you’re in the wrong state of mind.  For some, “back to school” is a time of happy.  If it’s a time of stress or anxiety or overwhelm for you or your child, that affects learning.  Know that it can be different.  FAST.  My Neuro Linguistic Hypnotherapy sessions are super brief therapies.  Call me anytime for a free consultation in my office to learn more about hypnosis and NLP.  (425) 564-8608.

All the Best,
Connie

Seattle Client Reports Hypnosis Success: No More Smoking!

Stop Smoking, Seattle! Victor did!
Stop Smoking, Seattle!  Victor did!

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

I love my email box.  I get so much good news from current and previous clients.  Here is a report from Victor Rodriguez, of Seattle, Washington, who had one Hypnosis – NLP session to quit smoking last month.  That’s all it took.  He quit!   He says:  “Smoking is behind me.”

Yay, Victor!  🙂  Here is Victor’s report:

“Hi Connie, Thanks for following up with me about my stop smoking session with you.  Since that session I am happy to report that I no longer smoke.  It hasn’t quite been a month yet but smoking is behind me…  Since then I haven’t purchased any cigarettes.  It has been a success. I will definitely direct anyone interested to your practice.  Take care, Victor.” — Victor Rodriguez, Seattle, WA.

Now, some people quit smoking instantly.  One Neuro Linguistic Hypnotherapy ™ session! And some people ease into the change called “happy and healthy permanent nonsmoker” over approximately three to four sessions. Everyone is different and every session is different, and personalized.  We work it until you get what you want — to be done with cigarettes, or any other change.  That’s the bottom line.  Compared to other methods of changing habits and removing unwanted behaviors, these are super fast therapies.

If you’re ready for some personal change, we can do that!  I do offer a free in office consultation to explain the unique collaboration of minds which is my work.

Hypnosis and NLP removes phobias.
You’re free to fly!

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

Here is ANOTHER Seattle area hypnosis client testimonial of success for Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP.  Goodbye to fear of flying, goodbye to panic and anxiety.  I just posted one success story about the end to fear of flying on my blog here, and boom!  Here’s another which showed up in my inbox this week.

Kristen Halley had one Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy ™ session with me in May–I offer intensive two hour sessions combining hypnotherapy with NLP.  Here is what she wrote to me about her results from that one session:

“Dear Connie, my flight to Chicago and back was literally the best flight of my life! I cannot thank you enough for the magic you’ve done! I feel so liberated and free! I cannot wait to fly again!”  –Kristen Halley, Greater Seattle Area

When fear leaves, the door to adventure and wonderful, positive experiences opens.  Yay, Kristen!  I’m happy to share her success, as a notice given that irrational fear can be removed. Easily, with the right tools.

Fear of Flying Flies the Coop – Hypnosis Success to End Phobia

Hi, Hypnosis-Friends!

I dropped a friend off at Seattle Tacoma International Airport today, and man, that place is busy! Summertime is traveling time! Here in the Pacific Northwest, we love to fly, and it shows.

Some, however, do not (love to fly). They have fear and panic around it, and that prevents them from the joys of travel.  Fear of flying.  A serious phobia, until hypnosis and Neuro Linguistic Programming quickly gets it gone.  I helped a lady with fear of flying a few weeks ago, and just got an email update from her.  Here is her report of success and positive changes:

“Hi Connie, my husband and I flew from Seattle to Chicago, Chicago to Quebec, and Boston to Seattle – all within 2 weeks. I found that I felt much less stressed so that when we did board the plane I was able to just sit back, relax and enjoy the flight…. All the flights had turbulence and one flight was diverted due to bad weather in the Midwest and I handled the news without any fear or anxiety. Am actually looking forward to flying again soon. Thanks so much!” — Susan Wiseman, Greater Seattle Area

Yay, Susan!  You are now free to discover the world.

When fear is unnecessary, and limiting, we can remove it.  Any irrational fear, from fear of public speaking, to fear of flying, to fear of overripe bananas.  Learn more anytime at http://www.seattlehypnosisforphobias.com and http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net.

Red, White & Blue Hypnosis

Michael and I would like to wish all of our hypnosis blog reading friends a safe and happy Fourth of July.

Hypnosis is all about freedom and independence. It’s all about creating and celebrating independence from bad habits, unwanted responses, and negative thinking of all varieties.  For any of my fellow Star Trek fans (Trekkies), who remembers the episode where Kirk is speaking to Spock about “freedom” and the alien says:  “Freedom??  You speak the holy word.”  Well, that’s how I feel about the work I do as well.  🙂

Happy Fourth, everybody!  Stay safe out there.

All the Best,
Connie

Goodbye to Procrastination – Hypnosis Client Testimonial

Feeling stuck?  Lacking energy or motivation?  Nothing getting done at work or at home? That’s called procrastination, and it’s an easy fix with NLP and hypnosis.   What would it be like if it were different in your world?  How would you rather feel, and what would you rather do?

Maggie of Edmonds, WA found out.

She came in and described her state of mind and procrastinating behaviors.  She was feeling overwhelmed.  She was feeling like “a deer in the headlights” with a glaring lack of productivity in her creative work and in her home life.  After a couple Neuro-Linguistic Programming and hypnotherapy sessions, here is her report:

“It’s ALL good!  I’m really amazed.  I’m overloaded with positive behaviors.”– Maggie, Edmonds, WA.  Her work, which is creative in nature, is flowing.  Goodbye, stuck.  Her enthusiasm and energy for home projects has soared, as well.  Goodbye, procrastination. She’s feeling more calm and powerful overall, which is impacting everything in a positive way, her health, her relationships, her day to day experience of life.  “It’s ALL good!”  Yep!  🙂

Stuck is a temporary state of mind, and we can accelerate your kicking it to the curb. Hypnosis is amazing, and hypnosis works.  Maggie is more proof of the pudding.

We Can Create the Millionaire Mindset with Hypnosis

Business woman on phone making sales and making money.Hi, Seattle Hypnosis-Friends!

I was reading this great article on the internet today–all about the millionaire mindset, the necessary mindset of success used by the very wealthy.

Hypnosis is a tool to create this mindset.  The mindset is what creates action, bottom line.  As it says in the article:

“Mindset is really about disrupting and rearchitecting your beliefs around wealth and your ability to create it.  You have to rid yourself of all of the beliefs that are compromising wealth in order to change your behavior to build wealth. Your beliefs inform your behavior. It’s about seeing opportunity where others see obstacles and knowing that there’s always a solution.”

Right on!  The discussion HERE is so compatible with the hypnotherapy work I do.  I absolutely help people develop this success mindset–for wealth building and all arenas of life success.  What’s cool about NLP, Neuro Linguistic Programming, is the ability to model and install new thinking.  If you don’t have the millionaire (success) mindset, you can get it via hypnosis and NLP.

Again, the article talks about “determination and self discipline.”   If you don’t have it, you can acquire it.  The ability to take risks–a reasoned “go for it” way of thinking.  The ability to climb up from a downfall, taking the wisdom from the experience and moving forward. The ability to notice money-making opportunities.  If you don’t have these, you can acquire them through strategic change via skilled NLP & hypnosis.

I love this work.  And I love helping people become successful.  I have worked with a variety of business people from solo-preneurs, to large corporation CEO’s to stock investment day traders, etc., and all of them have moved closer to the mindset that leads to millions.  “Why not me?” indeed.  We rip out any limiting beliefs in the mind that stand in the way of wealth-building.  One of the key pieces is “I deserve success.”  Yes, you do.

If you need a push in the fanny towards “Yes, I can” (and the motivation to do what it takes to achieve the wealth), I can help!  I can help In the realm of wealth-building, and pretty much any endeavor, from quitting smoking to weight loss.  The mind is a powerful tool.  If you’re not using yours to capacity, let me help!

Warm Regards,
Connie

Can Hypnosis Help With…?

Happy Trance
Hypnosis is a positive experience.

Can hypnosis help with…?  The short answer is: YES!  If it involves the mind and how we respond to life, hypnosis helps!

Prepare to delve into a world of power—your own.

Hypnosis unlocks positive change, and unleashes potential, changes habits, changes minds, changes bodies, changes your experience of life itself!  Hypnosis creates a world more in line with your goals and desires.

Here’s my definition of hypnosis: “Hypnosis is a state of accelerated learning.”  It’s super powerful and super positive.

When I’m teaching self hypnosis for Bellevue College Continuing Education, I’m often asked by students: What is hypnosis good for? What can it be used for? Can hypnosis help with this, that, and the other thing?  Yes!

A problem is only a perspective, and perspectives are subject to change.  So hypnosis can be used to develop a more resourceful perspective on ANY problem.  When you think differently about something, you feel differently, and your responses and choices in the world are different.  Here is a list of problems that hypnosis helps with, though it is by no means an exhaustive list:

• agoraphobia
• anxiety – anxiety state
• confidence boosting
• creativity
• depression
• embarrassment
• emotional pain – guilt
• exam nerves
• fear of flying
• insomnia – sleep improvement
• interview nerves
• migraine
• motivation
• memory and learning
• nail and finger biting
• nervous problems
• nightmares
• panic state, panic attacks
• pain control
• performance anxiety
• phobias (all kinds) – irrational fears
• procrastination
• public speaking
• relationship problems
• shyness
• smoking
• social anxiety
• sports performance
• stage fright
• stress and related problems
• weight loss & weight management

When you’re ready for some positive changes, whether you live in the Seattle area or beyond, call us at (425) 564-8608. www.mindworkshypnosis.net Hypnosis works!

Connie’s Presenting a Talk to the Oregon Hypnotherapy Association

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

I’m excited to announce that I have been chosen to be a featured presenter at the Oregon Hypnotherapy Association’s spring educational conference this month.  I’m giving a talk on the topic of aversion therapy—that’s the art of using hypnosis to attach “a big fat no!” to the habits and behaviors that people want to stop doing.  That runs the gamut of things like stopping smoking, drinking, overeating, fingernail biting, procrastination, and more.

In the field of hypnosis, there’s harmful negative aversion (suggesting illness and death–which I would NEVER do to a client), and there’s positive aversion.  The “aversion” aspect of any work I do is all positive aversion.  Here’s more about my talk for those interested in the nitty gritty of hypnotherapy, who may read my blog.

The Power of Positive Aversion
Connie Brannan, CHt., Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapist and Licensed Trainer of NLP®

What would you never do?  “I’d never kill anyone.”  Sure,  you would.  If the situation was such that the killing became an imperative and appropriate response.   That’s not a felt response,  that’s an intellectual response.  What makes your skin crawl?  What is it that you would REALLY never do, such that the thought of it is so repellant and disgusting and fearful to you that it turns your stomach and your brain says about it:  “That’s a big fat NO!”  Eat live worms?  Kiss your grandmother?  Jump out of an airplane for fun?

Aversion in hypnotherapy is the art of attaching a “big fat NO” to an unwanted behavior such as smoking or eating sweets, in the mind AND the body.  In this talk, I demonstrate a potent NLP technique to achieve this.

Finding and attaching the most potent multi-sensual aversion connection is very much an art form.  Hypnotherapy itself is a creative art, and the more you successfully tailor ideas and associations for the person in front of you and what moves them, the more successful results you will achieve for them.  Everybody is different, and their “big fat nos” are different.

In this talk we discuss aversion.  Unwise, harmful aversion (you’re going to die a horrible corrosive death with illness, pain and suffering if you continue the behavior) vs. creative positive aversion.   For a long time I avoided aversion suggestions altogether, because it seemed to me to be only negative and hurtful.    It doesn’t have to be.   Also in this talk we discuss how useful aversion is in a propulsion system to change, combined with the positive attraction of desired outcome.

With Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP, Change is FUN!

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

I got another nice email feedback from one of my successful smoking cessation NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)  and hypnotherapy clients.  His name is Robert Stack, from Seattle, and he said today:

“I never thought freeing myself from smoking could be so much fun!”  — Robert Stack, Seattle, WA  5/17/14.

I hear that a lot–surprise at how easy and how much fun this work is.  Some people have an expectation that change should be unpleasant, grueling, gut-wrenching even. No!  Not in my office. They think change takes a long time.  No!  Not with what I do.  Here’s the truth:  this work is fast and fascinating and FUN.

Hypnosis itself feels great, it’s a “close your eyes and relax” comfort and clarity of mind.  I guide a client to this state of mind and then I create a customized flow of direct and indirect suggestions, words, ideas, stories, and images that inspire change.  It’s a super pleasant, creative space. We spend about 30 to 40 minutes out of a session doing the hypnotherapy portion.

In the same session, we’ll spend a good solid hour or more doing NLP.  NLP, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, is my primary tool, and my expertise, as a Licensed Trainer of  NLP™ through the originator of NLP .  NLP involves playing mind games, following my step-by-step processes manipulating images, sounds, feelings, and beliefs, which have the effect of creating amazing instant change on an unconscious level. And yes, it’s SO MUCH FUN.

Some people come into my office thinking the experience is going to be boo hoo into the kleenex — telling sad stories, like “talk therapies” they may have experienced.  No way in h-e-double-toothpicks.  Never.  We don’t do that.  My office is filled with laughter.  We play with the STRUCTURE of thinking, not the content.  It’s a completely different focus and approach. And, obviously, it works.  Check out the over 160+ testimonials I have on http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net helping with everything under the sun.

People want results.  And so do I.  And how much better to achieve that success in a quick and fun manner with hypnosis and NLP.   Robert has learned what I do and it’s power for change, and what the experience itself is like.  You can, too.

Warm Regards,
Connie

Goodbye, Anxiety! Client Testimonial of Success for Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP.

Marcela KenevanMarcela Kenevan of Gig Harbor, WA came to me in a state of anxiety, fear and uncertainty over recent and unfolding events in her life.  Those unpleasant states of mind and body are over.  She’s feeling like herself again, confident and powerful, and happy.

What does NLP and hypnosis do?  It gets you in touch with your own resourcefulness (good feelings).  When you feel good, you think differently, and you make different and better choices for your life.  NLP updates the programming in your mind so that this new resourcefulness sticks and becomes the automatic you in the places where un-resourcefulness (bad feelings) used to live.  Change is amazingly fast.  NLP has been called “hypnosis on steroids.”  I think that’s accurate.  🙂

Here is Marcela, feeling good and sharing her new state of mind.  Hold on to your power state, Marcela.  It looks good on you.

Check out the positive power of hypnosis & NLP anytime.  We offer a free in-office consult, when you’d like to learn more.

Warm Regards,
Connie

Relaxing Hypnosis – It’s Like a Spa for Your Mind

Hello, to my Hypnosis Blog readers!  In Seattle and beyond.  🙂  Here is another in my new video series designed to give a flavor of the utility and joy of hypnosis. This one features the idea (and it’s been WELL documented) of that inner peaceful calm that lives in hypnosis.  It’s like a meditative state, one that is easy to enter and maintain.

While the unconscious mind is busily working on wonderful life changes, the experience of hypnosis itself is one of deep physical relaxation, clear-thinking, almost bliss.  Several of my clients come out of trance and say:  “I’ve never been that relaxed in my life.”  One lady said it was like going to the spa, feeling so refreshed and rejuvenated.  Yes, it is.  A spa for the mind.

Are you ready for a vacation from your life’s problems?  How about a permanent vacation from them?  Come experience hypnosis.  It’s not what you think it is.  It’s infinitely better. And it’s cheaper than a trip to Maui, let me tell you!  🙂

Warm Regards,
Connie

Fit or Fat? Your Choice, Activated by Hypnosis!

Here is another in my hypnotic video collage series. This one is called Fit or Fat?

I like this.  Here’s how best to view it.  You’ve really got to watch it in full screen mode to fully appreciate the interplay of movement and color.  Stare in the dead center and let your eyes un-focus and view the whole thing as a single thing.  Next, enjoy the individual pieces.

The message is funny, bright, and articulate.  Dog on a treadmill, guy working out on the bed in a very creative way, neon fruit flashing to get your attention.  It’s simple, yet wonderful. On the one hand we have unhealthy overindulgence, masses of macaroni & cheese, nachos, hash brown, pancakes, hoagies, on the other we have fitness, fruit, and drinking water, self hypnosis, and a happy dance at the gym.

Hypnosis is a methodology to focus on your goals and activate new behaviors that move you towards those goals.  So, decide what you would like.  Fat or fit?  We can do it!

Warm Regards,
Connie

Hypnotic Videos

Hi, Seattle area hypnosis enthusiasts:

Just for fun, I’m sharing some experimentation I’m doing with video collages.  Video is a very hypnotic medium, whether it’s movies or television, or the tiny art forms I’ve created here.

In the first video I’m sharing, the topic is anger management.  Yes, hypnosis works for releasing any unwanted and non-useful emotions, including anger.  The second video is purely for hypnotic fun–my inaugural attempt at video collage-making.  Enjoy!

Warm Regards,
Connie

Quit Smoking Success! Two Years and Counting and Still a Non-Smoker: Client Video Testimonial

Laurie Adams of SeaTac, WA. A real client, a real success story.
Laurie Adams of SeaTac, WA. A real client, a real success story.

This is the story of Laurie Adams.  40 years a smoker. A consistent smoker.  Now, that’s a “habit.” Fortunately, hypnosis is stronger and more powerful than any habit.

Two years ago, in April of 2012, Laurie came into my office at the prompting and personal recommendation of her physician.  She wanted to quit smoking.  She did just that.  It took all of two Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy sessions.  Two sessions!  To break a 40-year habit!

That’s power.  That’s success.  What’s even more “proof of the pudding,” it’s been two years now, and Laurie is STILL a non-smoker.  Going strong, and healthy.

If you think you’re beyond help, think again.  Think of something you haven’t tried.  Yet. That’s skilled hypnotherapy.  The power of the mind is greater than you think, and when these tools and techniques are artfully applied, well, magic happens.  I know it to be true.  And so does Laurie.

Here’s her video testimonial:

Good job, Laurie!  Here’s to the next 20 years and beyond, also as a non-smoker.

Warm Regards,
Connie

Activating Weight Loss Tips with Hypnosis

Healthy Choices look good with Mindworks Hypnosis.Hi, Hypno-Friends!

I’d like to share this great healthy eating article I found on the internet.  It’s a set of weight loss tips.  Now, it’s my belief that people in the “weight loss struggle” really DO know how to lose weight. They know the formula:  eat less, choose healthy, and be more active. They just don’t activate them.

That’s where hypnosis comes in.  Hypnosis turns ideas into action.

Here is a link to the article.  These tips are good advice for weight loss.  However, rarely is advice alone enough to make it happen.  You need the mindset of success.  You need the focus, and drive, the determination and motivation.  You need the “go for it.”  You need the tenacity.  “Stay with it.”  Re-shaping your body can be a lengthy process, and you need to be in it to win it for the long haul.  That’s where hypnosis shines.  You need the “no way” automated response attached to unhealthy foods and overeating.  That’s where hypnosis is magic.  You need the “I’m making time for me” directed choice to become more active physically.  That’s where hypnosis helps.

Hypnosis does help!

Having a plan (advice and tips and understanding food choices and nutrition), that’s all well and good.  Making those choices reality on an ongoing daily basis, that’s a REAL plan for success.  Call me and we’ll talk about the power of your mind to do just that.

Warm Regards,
Connie

More Photos of our Mindworks Hypnosis Office in Bellevue

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

Some people are scared, they think hypnosis is dark and mysterious, when really, it is super relaxing and pleasant and even, “wow!”  I posted some photos the other day of my hypnotherapy office in Bellevue, so people can see the setting where this empowerment happens, and perhaps get a better feel for what it really is.

It seems synchronous that leaving the supermarket the other day, the checkout machine generated a coupon for me for a free photo book from Shutterfly.  So, I made a book with more info and pictures about Mindworks Hypnosis.

Here’s the result, captured as video.  This is my work space.  I have included pictures of the grounds of the Bellefield Office Park, where my office is located, which I think is amazingly beautiful.

Thanks for visiting my office, in this virtual photographic realm. The real thing is available anytime.  Call for a free consultation and I’m happy to explain more about what I do.

Happy May!

Warm Regards,
Connie

Hypnosis Office in Bellevue

It’s turning green out there.  Which I happen to love, as green is my favorite color.  Here is a pic of my inner office space, where the transformations happen.

The hypno-chair is waiting for you!
The hypno-chair is waiting for you!

Abundant life, energy, and freshness. Nice things in a view, and nice things in a life.

Not all hypnotherapists maintain a professional office space, because they’re not successful enough at the work to warrant it.  Not all hypnotherapists that have an office create a peaceful and inviting environment, I’ve seen others that are windowless and bland, shabby even.  You can tell a lot about a person by how they keep their personal and professional spaces.

Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP is a warm place, full of beautiful art (my Mom’s paintings and drawings), color, and positive energy.  You’re welcome to come experience some positive changes in my space, any time!

Warm Regards,
Connie

Here’s another photo from in the office.  This is the “Alter to Happy.”  Which is what I want for you, as well.  🙂

Mindworks Hypnosis has an A+ Rating with the Better Business Bureau

Better Business Bureau Accredited BusinessHi, Hypno-Friends!

Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP is an Accredited Business with the Better Business Bureau of Washington State. I’m happy to announce that they’ve raised our rating from an A to an A+. That’s as good as it gets! Our accreditation is your assurance of professionalism and ethical business practices. You can read about us on the BBB website.

Let’s face it. This industry does tend to attract some fly-by-night, unskilled and less than reputable people. They’re out to make a buck, as opposed to our focus, which is to make a difference and help people to live more successful, joy-filled lives. Beyond the fact of no complaints, our Better Business Bureau A+ also indicates longevity and stability in the marketplace. 🙂

Whether or not a hypnotherapist is an Accredited Business is another piece of information that is appropriate to consider when looking for services.  When I was a kid in school, I always loved getting an A+.  I still do.  🙂

Warm Regards,
Connie

Can Hypnosis Help With…?

happy brain gets strong with hypnosis & NLP servicesThe answer is: “yes!” Michael and I have a saying: “If it involves the mind, hypnosis can help.”

I’m continuously asked whether I’ve worked successfully with clients on something very specific, like: Have you worked successfully with clients who pick at their face, have you worked with clients who play soccer, have you worked with teenagers who smoke, have you worked with diabetics with sugar “addictions,” have you worked with someone with a fear of dinosaurs, have you worked with a person wearing pink socks, on a Tuesday? At this point in my career, yes to all.

That’s like asking a painter: have you ever painted a portrait where the man has a mole on his left cheek? Has he? Maybe yes, maybe no. But could he? Absolutely yes. It’s like asking a master carpenter if he could build a birdhouse? Has he? Maybe yes, maybe no. But could he? Absolutely yes.

Once you understand the nuts and bolts of your craft, you can create anything. NLP and hypnosis are about changing the thinking, feeling, and responses in the moments and situations of your life, as it’s useful to do so. The details of those situations are irrelevant, once you understand how the mind works and how we create change in our minds and lives. I do have that understanding.

I can help anybody do anything. These mind tools that I use, primarily NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) are less about the content of a problem, and more about the structure of a person’s thinking. When you change the latter, the former dissolves. And fast!

This idea is so counter to what’s understood in our culture about the nature of personal change, and I understand that. I read a post on Facebook yesterday which I find repulsive (and wrong) on so many levels. Here’s what it said:

“Until you heal the wounds of your past, you are going to bleed. You can bandage the bleeding with food, with alcohol, with drugs, with work, with cigarettes, with sex; But eventually, it will all ooze through and stain your life. You must find the strength to open the wounds, stick your hands inside, and pull out the core of the pain that is holding you in your past, the memories and make peace with them.”

What if that idea is ugly ridiculousness? What if change were easier than that and pain free? In the work I do, we heal the life by re-arranging the structure of thinking, the internal mind strategies that create a problem, and we don’t even have to delve into content. So no, there’s no sticking your hands inside wounds and wallowing in misery. Not in my office!! No blood. I don’t want that on my carpet. Perhaps the above is what counselors or talk therapists do. That’s not what I do. Nor would I ever.

Skilled NLP is more powerful and successful for change than that. The proof is in the pudding. Feel free to visit my website and see all the pudding. Or, come to my office and have a taste yourself.

What is hypnosis and NLP good for? What can it help with? Anything and everything.

Warm Regards,
Connie

Happy International Day of Happiness – From Mindworks Hypnosis

The UN declares, and of course I agree:  “The pursuit of happiness is a fundamental human goal.”  Yesterday, the world celebrated happy, with the 2014 International Day of Happiness.  If you want to hear some uber-catchy happy music and see some happy faces and bodies dancing to it, look on Youtube.com under the search term hashtag happy, #HAPPY.

Here’s one:

I think we should do more of that.  🙂  I think happiness is too big to contain within a single calendar day, and should be welcomed and celebrated and lived every day.  What kind of a world would it be if people were HAPPY every day?  A different world, a better world.  Because…

In the words of my favorite teacher, Dr. Richard Bandler:  “Good feelings, good decisions.  Bad feelings, bad decisions.”  My work is all about good feelings, and making them unconsciously automated.  That’s hypnosis and NLP.  When you feel good, you think differently, and you act differently in ways that are useful.

Learn more anytime about the power of hypnosis and how easy it really is to find your happy.  Here:  http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net

Away Go Troubles Down the Drain

Here’s another musing on hypnosis and the nature of personal changes.

I was thinking about my dad this morning.  He was very handy around the house, and could fix anything.  He was a Lowes kind of guy–loved going in those home improvement and hardware type stores.  As I was brushing my teeth this morning and staring at the water running in the sink, a vision from my childhood popped into my brain.

I could see my dad, lying on the bathroom floor with a “snake” type cable doing things to clear obstructions in the drain and pipes in the bathtub and sink.  He fixed it!  My dad was a wonderful problem solver.

Last week I had poured Draino in my own bathroom sink, and today I noticed that yes, the drain is running faster.  And that reminded me of hypnosis.

Everything is a hypnotic metaphor.  Everything.

My clients always want to know this:  how fast?  How long will it take to achieve x change with hypnosis?  It absolutely varies.  Sometimes it’s instant!  Like my dad and his Roto-Rooter type pipe snake clearing a clog instantly.   The brain says:  “Oh, that blockage is unnecessary!  Goodbye!”

Sometimes change needs to work it’s way through the mind and body and habits, like Draino’s chemical reactions through pipes.  You pour it in and you let it sit, and yet it’s working.  Dissolving those clogs over time.  Hypnotic suggestions keep “workin’ it” over time, as well.

Brain and drain.  Very similar words.  Mere coincidence?  🙂  Bottom line, hypnosis is absolutely wonderful to flush troubles out of your life.  The evidence is here:  http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net.

Warm Regards,
Connie

“Give life to the things that make you happy!”

Here’s my Tuesday musing, atop a swathe of color from a photo I took at the Tulip Festival last spring.  🙂  This was my summary advice to a friend on how to deal with negative people’s influence:

Give life to happyI also gave her explicit instructions on how to accomplish said directive.  In essence, that’s what hypnosis does, help you make useful distinctions in your mind.  What’s valuable, and what’s true.

Happy Tuesday!

Warm Regards,
Connie

PS: This pic makes me eager for Spring. Darn groundhog, promising us more winter. 🙂
