The difference between a hobby-ist hypnotist and professional is many fold. One difference is the commitment to offering a safe, private environment to do the work. A private office. Not a “shared by-the-hour, I’m-not-good-enough-to-afford-my-own-space, fly-by-night” office, a real office.
Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP has a charming office, filled with light and warmth and and color and beautiful pieces of artwork.
When I was first starting out in this work 10 years ago, one hypnotist advised me to have a sterile white room with no distractions as my hypnotism space. Another said: No, find a space that makes YOU feel good. Comfortable, happy. I chose the latter. My space brings me joy every time I enter it. And from a platform of joy, I know I do my best work.
Another hypnotist said to me: don’t spend money on nice furniture, buy something cheap and then throw a blanket over it. I rejected that idea instantly. No, I bought lovely quality things that offer a professional appearance as well as comfort–especially what I call “the trance chair, ” a leather recliner that I love, and my clients love.
I’m happy to share some colorful photos of my office, taken today. These are not ordinary photos, these have been “enhanced” with a prismatic eye.
View out the window. LOVE.The Altar to Happy.Dream. Imagine. Relax.Hypnosis Books. Never stop learning.Dedicated to Excellence WallConnie, ready to rock and roll and help you make success.
My space is even prettier in person. It’s smack dab in the heart of the Bellefield Office Park, a greenbelt area of canals, bridges, walking paths, and buildings tucked into the trees. They call it a “woodsy walkup.” Very.
I’m proud of my office. I’d be happy to share the magic generated in this space anytime.
One of the (ridiculous) myths of hypnosis is that it’s something dark and scary and otherwordly. Hollywood movies conjure up frightening images of hypnosis done by strange men wearing dracula capes in dim, shrouded basements. Accompanied by the sounds of maniacal laugher. “I control their minds!! I control their minds!!”
Uh, no! That’s not what it is.
The reality? Hypnosis is a type of super-accelerated effective communication. Ideas are shared with the problem-solving part of the mind, and it gets to work creating change. It’s comfortable, it’s fun, it’s pleasant. And professionals do it in professional spaces.
I’ve created a brief video below to share my Bellevue office space with you. I LOVE my office, it reflects how I approach this work. The key word is “professionalism.” Take a peek:
Some part-time hobbyist “hypnotists” in the Seattle area don’t think an office is necessary. They do sessions over the telephone, while they’re sitting in their bedroom painting their toenails. Here’s what I say about phone “sessions” on my FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions about Hypnosis) page:
“Hypnosis and NLP work is most effective face-to-face, which is why we don’t recommend internet or phone sessions. We don’t go for “watered down.” We want your success! Our work is interactive communications, and very hands on. Verbal (sound) alone is a tiny, tiny bit of information being conveyed, we use the full spectrum of communications information, using ALL the senses, going in both directions. Some of our favorite and most effective NLP techniques involve touch. You can’t do touch over the phone. Hypnosis deepening techniques also involve touch.”
Effectiveness! Super important. Professionalism. It’s also super important. We’re talking about your mind and your life and your goals being met. You want someone fully committed to this work and your success. A hypnotherapist who maintains a private, professional office space is a positive indicator that you’ve found someone who is serious about the work. Hypnosis (and that includes NLP) is my full-time career, my passion, not just something I’m doing “on the side” for a few bucks, like others in the Seattle area. Those people are hobbyists. Not real hypnotists. Not professionals.
When I was shopping for office spaces in the Seattle area, I was shocked at how many spaces were drab and dreary and noisy. Shared spaces. Closed-in rooms, with no light and no positive energy. Not acceptable! I chose a totally private office in Bellevue, it’s a positive energy space, in a beautiful, green park-like setting, close to the city and freeways and yet has a serene feel of “a world away.” And I’ve filled my space with life and color and many, many pieces of fine art. This is a space where I do “my art.” That’s hypnosis and NLP and more.
Come see the hypnosis office in Bellevue for yourself. We do offer free private in person consultations. Like anything, it’s more beautiful in person.
Can hypnosis help with…? The short answer is: YES! If it involves the mind and how we respond to life, hypnosis helps!
Prepare to delve into a world of power—your own.
Hypnosis unlocks positive change, and unleashes potential, changes habits, changes minds, changes bodies, changes your experience of life itself! Hypnosis creates a world more in line with your goals and desires.
Here’s my definition of hypnosis: “Hypnosis is a state of accelerated learning.” It’s super powerful and super positive.
When I’m teaching self hypnosis for Bellevue College Continuing Education, I’m often asked by students: What is hypnosis good for? What can it be used for? Can hypnosis help with this, that, and the other thing? Yes!
A problem is only a perspective, and perspectives are subject to change. So hypnosis can be used to develop a more resourceful perspective on ANY problem. When you think differently about something, you feel differently, and your responses and choices in the world are different. Here is a list of problems that hypnosis helps with, though it is by no means an exhaustive list:
• agoraphobia • anxiety – anxiety state • confidence boosting • creativity • depression • embarrassment • emotional pain – guilt • exam nerves • fear of flying • insomnia – sleep improvement • interview nerves • migraine • motivation • memory and learning • nail and finger biting • nervous problems • nightmares • panic state, panic attacks • pain control • performance anxiety • phobias (all kinds) – irrational fears • procrastination • public speaking • relationship problems • shyness • smoking • social anxiety • sports performance • stage fright • stress and related problems • weight loss & weight management

The polling results are coming in, with clients who have seen office old and office new. They say they prefer office new and especially it’s “quality of light.” It’s got more natural, and less artificial light. Feels more open and air-y. I liked the “nest” feeling of the full, leafy tree right next to my window in office old. In this one, the trees are more at a distance. More panoramic! Still beautiful, still green, still trees. These trees dance. Whole lot of life and swaying going on out my office window.
The setting in Bellefield Office Park is a world away, so calm and peaceful and full of life. What a nice place to refocus your mind on success.
