Seattle Area Clinical Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapist & Licensed Trainer of NLP ™ shares the truth about hypnosis, NLP and the unconscious mind to create powerful, positive, and lasting life changes. Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP
More happy client feedback. ❤️ I’m always grateful when clients take the time to share their experience.
“Hi Connie, Thank you so much!!! Yesterday’s session was so powerful. I thank you and am so grateful for the work I get to do with you. It truly has, been transformational.❤️🙏🏽 Paula”
Sometimes people ask me what happens in a hypnosis session.
That’s a fair question.
Unlike some other hypnotists, the answer is not, “I read a script and you relax.”
That’s not how I work.
My work is not cookie-cutter. I’m not reading from a generic script. I’m responding, shaping, observing, improvising, directing attention, using language, metaphor, trance, energy, and intuition.
Every client is different. Every mind is different. Every problem has its own structure.
One person may come in for anxiety, but the way their anxiety works may be completely different from someone else’s. One person may want to stop smoking, but the habit may be connected to stress, identity, reward, rebellion, boredom, comfort, or something else entirely. One person may say they want confidence, but what they really need is a new internal response in one very specific situation.
That’s why I listen carefully.
Not just to the words, but to the patterns underneath the words.
In my office, the session is alive. It is not a canned program. It is not “press play and hope for the best.” It is a collaborative, creative, targeted process designed around the person sitting in front of me.
I use Neuro-Linguistic Programming, direct and indirect hypnotherapy, metaphor, reframing, parts work, regression when appropriate, Reiki, and other tools I’ve developed over many years of working with real people and real problems. Sometimes the work is gentle and quiet. Sometimes it is very direct. Sometimes it is surprisingly playful. Sometimes the most important shift happens through a single phrase, image, question, or internal experience.
That’s the art of it.
Good hypnotherapy is not about putting someone “under.” It’s about helping the unconscious mind discover new choices, new responses, and new ways of organizing experience. It’s about helping a person become more resourceful from the inside out.
People often think they want hypnosis because they want to “get rid of” something: anxiety, fear, cravings, old emotional reactions, unwanted habits.
And yes, we can work on those things.
But what we are often really doing is helping the mind learn something new.
A new calmness. A new confidence. A new freedom. A new ability to respond differently. A new way to see oneself.
That kind of work cannot be mass-produced.
It has to be crafted.
That’s why my sessions are face-to-face, one-on-one, and customized. I’m paying attention to how you think, how you process, how you describe the problem, what you want instead, and what needs to happen for your mind to make that change.
Hypnosis is often deeply relaxing, but it is not merely relaxation.
It is focused attention. It is imagination used deliberately. It is communication with the deeper mind. It is a way of helping old patterns update.
After nearly two decades in practice, I’ve learned that people are much more capable of change than they often realize. Sometimes what looks like a “problem” is really just an old strategy that has outlived its usefulness. Once the mind has a better way, change can happen naturally.
That is the work I love.
Not script-reading. Not one-size-fits-all hypnosis. Not “close your eyes and listen to this recording.”
Today is National Meteor Watch Day — one of those quietly wonderful holidays nobody remembers until it’s already dark out. But it got me thinking about something I see in my office almost every week.
Most of us go through life staring at the sidewalk.
Not literally, of course. But metaphorically? Absolutely. We’re heads-down, focused on the next task, the next obligation, the next thing on the list. We forget to look up. We forget there’s an entire sky above us, doing extraordinary things, whether we’re paying attention or not.
Meteors are happening constantly. Tiny pieces of ancient rock and ice, burning brilliantly as they enter our atmosphere — but you only see them if you happen to be looking in the right direction, at the right moment, with your eyes actually open to the sky instead of fixed on the ground in front of you.
Change works the same way.
I meet people all the time who feel stuck — stuck in a habit, a fear, a pattern they’ve carried so long it feels like the floor under their feet rather than something they’re choosing. And almost always, the breakthrough isn’t about working harder at staring at the same patch of sidewalk. It’s about looking up. Shifting perspective just enough to notice what was always streaking by, unnoticed, full of light.
Hypnosis and NLP work is a lot like meteor watching, actually. You can’t force a meteor to appear on command. But you can put yourself in the right position — quiet, receptive, present — and when the shift comes, it’s fast, and it’s bright, and it changes how you see the whole sky afterward.
So here’s my Meteor Watch Day question for you: What have you been staring at the ground avoiding? What’s streaking across your own sky right now that you haven’t looked up long enough to notice?
You don’t have to wait for a meteor shower to make a wish.
Sometimes all it takes is deciding to finally look up.
Ready to shift your perspective? Let’s talk about what’s possible when you finally look up. — Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP
for the version of you that’s ready – By Connie Brannan, CHt.
the sun stays out longer now
so does the possibility
something in you already knows
this season feels different
lighter
like a window finally cracked open
after a long winter
you didn’t realize you survived
the light is doing its job
pouring into every room
asking you gently what if today is the start of something
you don’t need to wait
for next year
next month
the right moment
the right moment is sunlight
on your face
right now
your mind has been ready
longer than you think
holding onto old patterns
the way we hold onto winter coats
out of habit
not need
but you can set them down
somewhere just beneath the noise
there’s a quieter voice
that already believes
you can feel lighter
think clearer
become exactly who you’re meant to be
this summer
let the warmth reach
the parts of you
that have been waiting
for permission to bloom
you don’t have to white-knuckle
your way through change
you just need someone
to help you open the door
that’s the work
that’s what i do
that’s why i’m here
come find me
while the light is long
and the season is new
and so are you

One of the most rewarding parts of my work is hearing from clients after they’ve had a chance to live with the changes we created together.
Recently, a client sent me an update a week after her third session. With her permission, I’d like to share some of her experience.
When she arrived in my office, she was struggling with anxiety, overwhelm, and a mind that simply wouldn’t give her any peace. Like many people, she had become trapped in a cycle of negative thoughts and emotions that felt impossible to escape.
A week after our work together, she wrote:
“When I left your office, I was floating along, mind completely blown about all we accomplished.”
What struck me most was her description of what happened next.
Many people assume that if anxiety goes away, they will immediately know what to do with themselves. But when someone has lived with constant mental chatter for a long time, the absence of it can feel surprisingly unfamiliar.
She described it this way:
“The next few days felt sort of strange. A vacuum was created and it was like I didn’t know what to do with it. No constant fear filled yammering in my head.”
Think about that for a moment.
No constant fear-filled yammering.
For many people, that inner voice has become such a permanent companion that they can hardly imagine life without it.
Yet she went on to say:
“I felt calm.”
Even more importantly, she discovered something new.
Instead of being swept away by every negative thought or emotion, she found herself able to step back and evaluate them.
In her words:
“I feel like a new person and it’s a beautiful thing. I’m thoughtful and feel I can calmly look at negative thoughts and emotions that pop up and evaluate and/or disregard them easily.”
That’s an important distinction.
The goal isn’t to become a person who never has a negative thought.
The goal is to become a person who is no longer controlled by those thoughts.
She continued:
“What a giant gift! My life up to that point had been locked into a sort of hysteria where I couldn’t do that with any success. It was frustrating and exhausting.”
I think many readers will recognize that feeling.
When anxiety is running the show, life can become exhausting. Every thought feels important. Every feeling demands attention. Every problem seems urgent.
When that pattern changes, people often describe feeling lighter, calmer, and more themselves.
My client ended her note with words that deeply touched me:
“It is hard to find the words to thank you for what you probably consider just doing your job, but to me life is changing.”
I never take comments like that for granted.
Helping people create meaningful change in their lives is both my profession and my passion. Watching someone move from fear and overwhelm into calm, confidence, and possibility is one of the reasons I’ve loved this work for nearly two decades.
Full text of her remarks:
“Hi, Connie~ It’s been a week since we had our third session, and I wanted to reach out and let you know about the giant, fabulous impact it had on me. When I left your office, I was floating along, mind completely blown about all we accomplished. I not only felt my new integration, but I also felt the permanence of it. I remember you stressed that, and I definitely felt it and still do.
No constant fear filled yammering in my head. I felt calm. Connie, I feel like a new person and it’s a beautiful thing. I’m thoughtful and feel I can calmly look at negative thoughts and emotions that pop up and evaluate and/or disregard them easily. What a giant gift! My life up to that point had been locked into a sort of hysteria where I couldn’t do that with any success. It was frustrating and exhausting.
It is hard to find the words to thank you for what you probably consider just doing your job, but to me life is changing. You are so very good at what you do, and I will sing your praises forever.” — Jean, Seattle, WA
Thank you, Jean, for allowing me to share your experience.
All the Best,
Connie Brannan, CHt.

Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP has once again been recognized by BusinessRate as Bellevue’s top-rated hypnotherapy service for 2026.
While awards are always nice, what makes this recognition meaningful to me is what it represents. BusinessRate’s rankings are based on publicly available client feedback and reviews. In other words, this recognition comes from the experiences of real people who trusted me to help them create change in their lives.
When I first opened my practice nearly two decades ago, I had a simple goal: help people change their minds so they could change their lives.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with people who wanted to stop smoking, overcome fears, improve confidence, sleep better, perform at a higher level, manage stress, eat healthy, and move beyond obstacles that had held them back for years. I’ve watched people walk into my office feeling frustrated, stuck, discouraged, or overwhelmed—and leave with a renewed sense of possibility.
That’s what keeps me passionate about this work.
This recognition is especially meaningful because it is the second consecutive year Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP has received this acknowledgment. Consistency matters. Anyone can have a good year. Building a practice that continues to serve people well year after year is something I’m proud of.
As I reflect on the award, I realize that every review, every testimonial, and every success story represents a person who was willing to take a chance on change. They showed up. They did the work. They were open to new possibilities. The recognition belongs to them as much as it does to me.
To everyone who has trusted me over the years, thank you.
Whether you’ve come to see me for healthy eating, stress relief, confidence, smoking cessation, fears and phobias, sports performance, personal growth, or another goal entirely, it has been an honor to be part of your journey.
Awards are gratifying, but the real reward is seeing people discover that change is often easier—and faster—than they imagined.
Thank you for your trust, your kind words, and your willingness to grow.
Here’s to another year of helping people create meaningful change.

Here’s the truth you may not believe about yourself… yet.
You are strong.
You are beautiful.
You are capable.
You deserve success.
You are in control of your choices.
There are always more choices.
You are good enough.
You can have the things you want.
You are in control.
Sometimes, you just have to say: “Not my problem.”
You are powerful.
You are lovable.
Life is fun.
You are smart.
And more…
Now imagine living your life from that set of beliefs. That mindset.
How would you think?
How would you act?
What would change?
What’s happening inside your own mind shapes everything—your relationships, self-care, learning, healing, work performance, communication, habits… all of it.
The right beliefs create the best life.
If your inner beliefs need updating—if there are old, limiting patterns getting in your way—that’s exactly what we do.
We edit them together.
We delete what’s no longer useful.
We install what serves you.
And in the process, you begin to see the truth of who you are.
April 25! World Penguin Day is here! 🐧 These little guys look goofy but they’re FEARLESS. Dive into freezing water? No problem. Meanwhile humans are afraid to make a phone call. 😄 Hypnotherapy fixes that. Just saying.
Stress Relief That Actually Lasts: Working at the Level Where Change Happens
Stress shows up in a lot of ways.
Sometimes it’s obvious—tight shoulders, a racing mind, that feeling of being constantly “on.” Sometimes it’s quieter—low-level tension, irritability, trouble sleeping, or just never quite feeling at ease.
And for many people, it becomes something that runs in the background. Constant. Familiar. Almost automatic.
That’s the key word: automatic.
Because stress isn’t just something you think—it’s something your mind and body learn to do.
Why Stress Can Feel So Stubborn
You can understand stress logically.
You can tell yourself to relax. You can take a break, go for a walk, even try to “think positive.”
And yet… the feeling comes back.
That’s because stress isn’t primarily driven by conscious thought. It lives at a deeper level—the subconscious patterns that control how you respond automatically.
Those patterns can sound like:
“I have too much to do.”
“I can’t slow down.”
“If I relax, I’ll fall behind.”
“I just need to push through.”
Over time, your mind learns:
This is how we respond.
And once something becomes a pattern, it doesn’t require effort anymore. It just… runs.
A Different Approach to Stress Relief
At Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP, we don’t just help you cope with stress.
We work at the level where it actually lives:
👉 the subconscious mind
That’s where:
habits are formed
emotional responses are stored
automatic reactions are created
Instead of trying to override stress with willpower, we help you change the pattern itself.
What Happens When the Pattern Changes
When stress stops running on autopilot, something interesting happens.
You don’t have to “force” yourself to relax.
You begin to notice:
your body unwinds more easily
your thoughts slow down naturally
situations that used to trigger stress… don’t hit the same way
It’s not that life suddenly becomes perfect.
It’s that your experience of it changes.
Calm becomes accessible again. Clear thinking comes back. You respond instead of react.
And for many people, that feels like a relief they haven’t experienced in a long time.
This Isn’t About Escaping Stress
Stress is part of life. Deadlines, responsibilities, change—those aren’t going away.
But the constant tension? The overwhelm? The sense that your mind won’t shut off?
That part can change.
What We Do in a Session
In a private session, we focus directly on your specific patterns:
where stress shows up for you
how your mind is currently responding
what needs to shift for calm to feel natural again
Using hypnosis and NLP, we help your mind:
release unnecessary tension
reorganize those automatic responses
and create a new, more supportive default
This work is direct, focused, and designed to create real change—not just temporary relief.
What Clients Often Notice
After working on stress at the subconscious level, people commonly report:
feeling calmer without trying
less overthinking
improved sleep
clearer decision-making
a greater sense of control and ease
And perhaps most importantly:
“I feel like myself again.”
Imagine This Instead
Imagine moving through your day without that constant edge.
Handling challenges with a steady mind. Letting things go more easily. Feeling calm—not because you’re forcing it, but because it’s simply there.
That’s what becomes possible when the underlying pattern shifts.
If you’d like to experience this kind of change for yourself, you can learn more or schedule a session here:
At Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP in Bellevue, WA, we work with you one on one to stop the habit. We work with the part of your brain that runs the show, back behind the curtain: your unconscious mind.
Another happy client success story. Shawn came in to quit vaping. And, yes, he did.
Here’s his report:
Hi, Connie! Good news: I haven’t vaped since I saw you last! The work you and I did together helped. I definitely feel like a non-vaper now. …I often use the techniques to bring myself calm during the day.
I am feeling good about my progress and am settling into a new “me”. Thank you again for all your work! —Shawn H., Bellevue
There’s a moment when something shifts…
Not “I’m trying to quit.” Not “I hope this works.”
But:
“I don’t do that anymore.”
That’s exactly what happened here.
“I haven’t vaped since I saw you… I feel like a non-vaper now.”
And something else I love about this:
“I often use the techniques to bring myself calm during the day.”
That’s real change.
Not just stopping a habit… but gaining control.
Feeling different. Thinking different. Living different.
And then one day…
You realize you’ve stepped into a new version of yourself.
“I’m settling into a new ‘me.’”
If you’ve been thinking about making a change— this is how it happens.

Now pause for a moment.
What would your life be like if those weren’t just nice ideas… but the bedrock beliefs running quietly in the background of your mind every day?
Because beliefs aren’t just thoughts. They’re filters. They shape what you notice… what you expect… what you allow. How you live.
And if the wrong beliefs are in place, they dramatically limit everything— your confidence, your decisions, your relationships, your results.
But here’s the good news:
Beliefs are not fixed. They are learned. And anything learned… can be updated.
We identify the beliefs that are holding you back, release what’s no longer useful, and install new beliefs that support the life you actually want to live.
Not fake positivity. Not pretending. Real, internal alignment.
Because when your inner mind is working for you instead of against you…
everything begins to change.

Once upon a hillside misty, in the morning cool and twisty, —Sat a panda, round and peaceful, munching bamboo by the score.
Not a worry, not a flutter, not an anxious word to mutter, —Just the soft and sleepy clutter of his napping and his snore —
Just the blissful, boundless stillness of his napping and his snore — —Calm like this, and so much more.
How I marveled at his stillness, longing for that very wellness, —Freedom from the restless racing of the thoughts I can’t ignore.
“Tell me, Panda, what’s your secret? How do you so easily keep it — —That serenity so deep it quiets every anxious roar?”
And he blinked his ancient eyes and smiled, and hushed my anxious roar — “Mindworks Hypnosis. Nothing more.“
So I found my own sweet stillness, hypnotherapy my witness, —Guiding me beyond the shadows I had stumbled through before.
Now like Panda on his hillside, peaceful, present, calm, and wide-eyed, —I have found my own inside — that tranquil, glowing, golden core —
That soft and panda-perfect stillness at my very core — Bliss like this, forevermore. 🐼🎋
They say thirteen is a number to fear, but I say thirteen is just twelve that decided it wasn’t finished.
They say Friday the 13th is a day to survive, but I say it’s a day to arrive — to show up differently than you did yesterday.
And the black cat crossing your path? She is not a warning. She is a creature who has always known where she is going, unbothered by what anyone thinks of her journey. There is something to learn from that.
Because here’s what they don’t put on the calendar: the mind is not your enemy. It is your most faithful companion, your most devoted navigator, going exactly where you point it.
It holds on, yes. That is what minds do. But it also has the capacity to release, to rewire, to choose a completely different direction starting from this moment.
So look straight into the mirror today. Ask yourself what you have been dragging along that no longer belongs to you. What pattern has been running so long you forgot you were the one who started it.
That is the work we do at Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP. Not magic. Not mystery. Just your mind finally being pointed somewhere worth going.
Spring does not knock politely. It leans in through the window, bold as a promise and bright as a second chance.
After months of gray rehearsals, the sky clears its throat. The branches lift their hands. The earth says, Begin again.
Notice how the bud does not argue with its own becoming. It does not cling to last year’s shape. It does not consult the frost.
It opens.
And so can you.
Not by force, not by pretending winter never happened, but by choosing what grows next.
Hypnosis is not escape. It is alignment.
It is the quiet courage to plant a different thought in the soil of your mind and trust it will rise.
It is the decision to trade old reflexes for deliberate response. To meet the moment with a mind that is clear, a heart that is steady, a will that is awake.
Spring is proof that transformation is not theatrical — it is natural.
Light does not beg the dark to leave. It simply arrives.
So let it arrive in you.
Let calm take root where panic once paced. Let confidence climb where doubt once clung.

I don’t know about you, but I’m sad about the groundhog. He said: 6 more weeks of winter. Those dark, kind of dreary days. You know the kind of winter day I mean.
You wake up to a gray sky.
It stays gray at noon.
By five o’clock it’s basically bedtime… except it isn’t.
The trees look like someone erased their color.
The sun seems to have taken a vacation without leaving a forwarding address.
And somehow your energy packed its suitcase and left with it.
If you live here in the Pacific Northwest (hello, Seattle area friends), this isn’t a rare event. This is… February.
And for some people, it’s more than just “ugh, gloomy.”
It’s heavier than that.
Motivation dips.
Sleep feels off.
Comfort food starts calling your name like it’s your emotional support animal.
Even things you normally enjoy feel like they require just a little too much effort.
If you’ve ever thought,
“Why does winter mess with my mood so much?”
You are absolutely not alone.
Here at Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP in Bellevue, we often help clients from across the Seattle area reset their mood, energy, and motivation during the darker winter months.
Your Brain Loves Patterns (Even the Seasonal Ones)
Here’s the simple explanation.
Your brain is a pattern-learning machine.
It tracks light, routine, movement, social activity, and emotional signals all day long.
When winter shows up with:
shorter daylight
darker mornings
less outdoor time
more staying inside
disrupted routines
your brain quietly starts adjusting its internal settings.
Not because anything is wrong with you.
Because your brain is doing exactly what brains do: adapting to the environment.
The problem?
Sometimes it adapts a little too well.
Lower energy becomes the new normal.
Less motivation becomes expected.
And before you notice, your emotional thermostat has slid down a few degrees.
Not broken.
Just… set lower than you actually want.
Here’s the Part Most People Don’t Realize
Mood is not just something that “happens” to you.
Mood is something your mind runs.
Like software.
And software can be updated.
This is exactly where hypnosis becomes incredibly powerful.
Because hypnosis isn’t about swinging watches or losing control or clucking like a chicken (unless you’re at a stage show).
Clinical hypnosis is about helping your mind:
reset emotional patterns
restore internal energy signals
reconnect you with motivation
reactivate positive expectation
and rebuild the feeling of “forward movement”
Even when the sky outside looks like it pressed the snooze button on the sun.
The Goal Isn’t Fake Positivity
Let’s be very clear.
This isn’t about forcing yourself to “think happy thoughts.”
Nobody needs that kind of exhausting emotional gymnastics.
Real hypnotic change works differently.
Instead of pretending winter is sunshine and rainbows…
We help your mind learn:
“Even when the weather is gray, my inner state doesn’t have to be.”
Because the truth is, you already have times — even in winter — when:
you laugh at something unexpectedly
you feel cozy instead of drained
you get interested in a project
you enjoy a conversation
you feel a spark of excitement
Those moments prove something important.
The switch still exists.
Hypnosis just helps you find it… and make it easier to turn on.
What Clients Often Notice First
People sometimes expect dramatic fireworks.
What actually happens is usually more practical (and honestly, more useful).
They notice things like:
mornings feel slightly easier
motivation shows up sooner
the emotional “heaviness” lifts faster
they start planning things again
they feel more like themselves
Not a fake version.
Their real version.
The one winter temporarily hid behind a cloud.
And No — You Don’t Have to Be “Severe Enough”
This part matters.
You don’t have to be officially diagnosed with anything.
You don’t have to be miserable.
You don’t have to wait until winter feels unbearable.
If the darker months simply feel harder than you want them to feel…
that’s already a perfectly valid reason to change it.
At Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP, helping people rebalance mood, motivation, sleep, stress, and emotional resilience is something we do every single day.
Calmly. Practically. Mind-to-mind.
Imagine This Instead
Same winter outside.
Same clouds.
Same early sunsets.
Same drizzle doing its usual Seattle performance.
But inside?
You feel:
steady
motivated
forward-moving
emotionally lighter
and able to enjoy your life again
Not someday.
This season.
If you’re curious whether hypnosis could help you feel better through the darker months, you’re always welcome to schedule a free consultation. Most people start by simply calling and asking a few questions. Call me at 425-564-8608. We’ll talk, answer your questions, and see what makes sense for you. No pressure — just a conversation.
Sometimes the most meaningful change doesn’t arrive as a lightning bolt. Sometimes it’s a “slower burn” that quietly compounds—until one day you look back and realize you’re responding to life in a completely different way.
That’s exactly how Gina described her progress after our hypnosis + NLP sessions. Her words were so thoughtful (and so relatable) that I asked if I could share them. She generously said yes—first name only.
A Shift That Compounds Over Time
“I am honestly blown away at my progress… it has been a slower burn in some ways but is compounding… over time.” — Gina
Gina shared that as she’s continued learning about her mind and building new supports in her life, she’s also noticed something important: she’s less stuck in all-or-nothing thinking. She’s seeing small wins. She’s feeling more at peace.
Connie’s Insight: When the mind starts noticing progress as progress, it becomes easier to keep going. That’s one of the quiet turning points.
Calm Under Pressure
One of Gina’s biggest “proof moments” came during a challenging real-life situation—an experience that would normally have triggered fear and panic.
“I handled it extremely well, breathed through the experience and didn’t feel any of the panic well up like it tends to.” — Gina
She described staying present, breathing, and navigating the moment with surprising steadiness. And afterwards? Pride. Relief. Freedom.
Connie’s Insight: Confidence isn’t something you “talk yourself into.” It’s something your nervous system learns—one successful moment at a time.
Confidence and Momentum
Gina also shared a breakthrough that will sound familiar to many high-potential people: a goal she’d held for years finally moved from “someday” into motion.
“On the self confidence front I finally started up my online business… which has been a goal for YEARS.” — Gina
She described momentum building—less hiding, more trusting her gifts, and a future she could actually picture.
Connie’s Insight: When self-doubt loosens its grip, action becomes easier. Not because life is perfect—but because you stop treating fear as a stop sign.
Health Habits That Feel Sustainable
Gina wrote about something I love to hear: progress that isn’t punishing or extreme. Progress that feels doable.
“I have gotten control over my cravings and am finding my joy in cooking healthy foods again.” — Gina
She described making steady changes, returning to movement in a kinder way, and staying encouraged without obsessing over speed or perfection.
Connie’s Insight: Sustainable change isn’t a sprint. It’s a pattern. When the pattern becomes easier, the results follow.
Authenticity, Voice, and a Future Again
Near the end of her message, Gina said something that landed deeply with me:
“I am dreaming about my future again… I am speaking my mind… I am most importantly being authentic to myself.” — Gina
That’s not superficial change. That’s the kind of internal shift that affects everything.
Connie’s Insight: When you reconnect with your own voice, your life starts reorganizing around what’s true for you.
A Note of Gratitude
Gina ended with this:
“Working with you on hypnosis has been hugely meaningful… I cannot express enough how grateful I am.” — Gina
Thank you, Gina. It was truly meaningful to support you.

Another 5-star google review posted online for Mindworks! Yay. I’m happy to share the success of my recent client, Julia W. After smoking on and off for 45 years, she wondered if quitting would ever truly stick. She had successfully quit before — even with hypnosis from other therapists — but found herself returning for a “booster” session within a month or so. She kept going back to the habit.
Until she came to work with me. My tool kit is different from other hypnotists–I offer expertise in NLP, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, combined with hypnotherapy. NLP has been called “hypnosis on steroids.” Julia had a session with me. This time, she reports, something felt different from the beginning.
Now, six months later, she’s still smoke-free… and not struggling.
Six Months Smoke-Free Without Cravings
Here’s what she shared:
“Thanks to Connie, I haven’t smoked since August 13, 2025! I haven’t had a craving at all and don’t feel the need for a booster whatsoever. I wish google had a checkbox for 10,000 stars!” — Julia W., Centralia, WA
The full text of her review:
“I am 63 years old and have been smoking on and off for 45 years. The 1st time, I quit cold turkey. The 2nd and 3rd times, I quit via hypnotherapy with other therapists. Each initial hypnotherapy session worked like a charm! However, I found myself going back for a “booster” session within a couple months. Thanks to Connie, I haven’t smoked since August 13, 2025! I haven’t had a craving at all and don’t feel the need for a booster whatsoever. Beforehand, I thought I would certainly need more sessions… ya know, because I’m an old fart! NOPE! Not this time! The combination of NLP with Hypnosis has made such a real difference in my experience this time. After asking a series of questions, Connie customized each session to suit my specific needs. It’s been 6 months since I quit… Yaay! I will forever be grateful to Connie for all her expertise! I wish google had a checkbox for 10,000 stars!” –Julia W. Centralia WA
That kind of outcome isn’t about luck. It’s about addressing the habit at the level where it actually lives.
Why “Boosters” Sometimes Happen (And That’s Not Failure)
Let’s normalize something important.
When someone quits smoking and later needs a reinforcement session, it doesn’t mean hypnosis “didn’t work.” Usually, it means the first change handled the surface behavior, but some deeper triggers — stress patterns, emotional associations, or identity habits — quietly stayed in place.
Think of it like pulling the visible weed while some of the root system is still underground. When life throws pressure your way, those roots can grow back.
That’s common. And it’s something we know how to handle.
What Made This Time Different
This time, we didn’t just aim for “stop smoking.” We built a fully customized plan using both hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), designed around her personal triggers, history, and patterns.
Instead of relying on generic scripts or willpower, we worked directly with:
automatic subconscious habit loops
emotional triggers tied to smoking
identity shifts (“smoker” → “non-smoker”)
confidence in handling future stress
installing calm, steady control as the default response
When hypnosis and NLP are combined this way, the goal isn’t simply to stop the behavior. The goal is to change the internal wiring that made the behavior feel necessary in the first place.
That’s why this time she didn’t report “holding on.”
She reported being done.
Common Questions About Hypnosis for Smoking
What does a session feel like?
Most people describe hypnosis as deeply relaxed but mentally aware — similar to being absorbed in a good movie or book. You’re not asleep, and you’re always in control. The work simply helps your mind accept new patterns more easily.
How many sessions does it take?
Many people succeed in one primary session, sometimes with a reinforcement session depending on history, stress level, or complexity of triggers. Each plan is individualized rather than one-size-fits-all.
What about cravings?
The goal isn’t to “fight” cravings. It’s to reduce or remove the internal drive that creates them. When the subconscious no longer sees smoking as useful, the urge often fades naturally instead of becoming a daily battle.
Ready to Quit Smoking for Good?
If you’ve tried quitting before — even successfully for a while — that doesn’t mean you can’t make it permanent. Often it simply means the right combination of personalization and method wasn’t in place yet. I offer that!
If you’re ready to explore what that could look like for you:
Test anxiety is one of those challenges that many capable, intelligent people quietly struggle with. It’s not about knowing the material — it’s about what happens in the moment. Racing thoughts. Tight focus. Second-guessing. The feeling that your mind just won’t cooperate when you need it most.
Recently, I worked with a client here in the Seattle area to help him develop a calmer learning state, stronger focus, and more confidence going into an important exam.
After our work together, he shared this:
“Happy Tuesday Connie! Yes, I did notice a difference in my overall mindset, state of focus, & confidence. I felt really good. Really appreciate all your support.” – I.N., Seattle, WA
Often, when we remove anxiety and activate the right mental state, something powerful happens. The knowledge was already there. The ability was already there. What changes is the access.
Through clinical hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming, we help clients train their minds to enter calm, resourceful learning states automatically — so focus improves, confidence rises, and performance becomes more natural instead of stressful.
If test anxiety, performance nerves, or focus challenges are holding you back, you’re not alone — and these patterns can be changed.
At Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP in Bellevue, we work privately one-on-one with each client to create practical, lasting mental shifts that support real-world success.

The Truth About Hypnosis
(Beyond the Myths and “Hollyweird”)
By Connie Brannan, CHt.
Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP
When many people first contact me, they have a fuzzy idea of what hypnosis is. They’ve seen Hollywood movies. They’ve watched stage shows. They’ve heard the myths: barking like dogs, clucking like chickens, losing control.
That’s not hypnosis.
That’s Hollywood — or as I like to call it, “Hollyweird.”
Let’s talk about what hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming really are — and why they are incredibly powerful tools for change.
Your Conscious Mind vs. Your Unconscious Mind
Your conscious mind is your thinking mind.
“What time is it?”
“Where am I going?”
“What’s happening next?”
That’s your analytical, decision-making mind.
When you are alert and thinking, your brain waves are fast and active. But when you relax — perhaps listening to music or winding down at the end of the day — those brain waves begin to slow. You soften. You shift.
Eventually, as you drift toward sleep, you pass through a relaxed, focused state.
That state?
That’s hypnosis.
You move through hypnosis at least twice a day — once as you fall asleep and once as you wake up.
No swinging watch required.
The Pillow Mint Phenomenon
Have you ever had this happen?
You’re thinking about something — turning it over and over in your mind. You can’t quite solve it. You go to sleep. You forget about it.
Then you wake up.
Boom.
There’s a solution sitting there like a little mint on your pillow.
Suddenly you know what to do. You have clarity. Direction. Insight.
Where did that come from?
Your unconscious mind was working on it. And you accessed it by passing through a different state of awareness.
Hypnosis allows you to access that problem-solving, pattern-changing part of your mind deliberately.
If Thinking Were Enough…
If we could simply think our way out of problems, there would be no smokers. No phobias. No compulsive habits. No emotional eating.
I had a spider phobia for 30 years.
Spider = panic.
Spider = fear.
And I knew it was silly.
Guess what? Knowing that didn’t change it.
Hypnosis did.
Now the pattern running in me is:
Spider = calm.
Spider = clear-minded.
That’s a more useful state of mind.
Hypnosis helps install useful patterns.
So What Is Hypnosis?
It is not sleep — not snoring, drooling, unconscious sleep.
Hypnosis is a state of focused attention where a different part of your mind becomes active.
I tailor my explanations for the person in front of me. I was working with a teen-aged athlete, so I used a sports metaphor.
Imagine your mind as a team.
The conscious mind is sitting on the bench — watching, supportive, aware. But it’s not the star player in that moment.
The unconscious mind? That’s the one on the court — moving, adapting, dunking, solving, performing.
To change sports again, all we do in hypnosis is shift who’s at bat.
The conscious mind steps aside.
The unconscious mind gets to play.
And that’s where meaningful change happens.
Final Thought
Hypnosis is simply a way to access your own internal resources.
It allows you to reach the part of you that already knows how to change — the part that can create calm where there was fear, clarity where there was confusion, and new patterns where old habits once ran the show.
No barking required.
Ready to Experience It for Yourself?
Understanding hypnosis is one thing. Experiencing it is another.
If you’re curious about how hypnosis or Neuro-Linguistic Programming could help you release a fear, shift a habit, improve focus, or create meaningful change, I invite you to reach out.
Sessions are private, collaborative, and tailored specifically to you. Whether change happens in a single breakthrough moment or unfolds gently over time, the goal is the same: empowering you to access the part of your mind that already knows how to move forward.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming is all about how our minds works, how we represent experience to ourselves, and how we use language (both verbal and nonverbal) to create our experience. How we learn. How we experience the world. How we influence others. How we code experience and retrieve experience. NLP originated from a study of human excellence, how creative, successful people do what they do, and how we can learn to run our own minds elegantly, alter behavior, and replicate their success in our own lives.
Time Release Hypnosis: Sometimes Change Tiptoes In
(And Still Changes Everything)
I love those “WOW!” moments in hypnosis.
You know the ones. A client leaves a session to end a habit and immediately says, “That’s gone.” Done. Finished. Over.
And yes—those moments happen. Often.
But there’s another kind of change that doesn’t get talked about enough. The kind that doesn’t shout. The kind that tiptoes in quietly… and then suddenly you realize your life is different.
This week, I heard from a former client who had one hypnosis session with me back in October. Just one.
She wrote:
“I actually stopped smoking in December! First time in 10 years of daily use.”
Let that land for a moment.
Ten years. Daily use. One session. And the full result unfolded a few weeks later.
Not because “nothing happened” in October. But because something started.
How Change Really Works (Behind the Scenes)
Hypnosis doesn’t always work like flipping a light switch.
Sometimes it does. And sometimes it works more like planting a seed.
The session sets things in motion. Your unconscious mind begins reorganizing priorities. Old habits lose their grip. New choices start to feel… easier.
You may not even notice it happening at first.
Until one day you realize:
You didn’t reach for the cigarette
You didn’t argue with yourself
You didn’t need willpower
You just… didn’t smoke.
And then days pass. And weeks. And suddenly the outcome you wanted is simply true.
The Bottom Line (This Part Matters)
Whether change is:
instant and dramatic, or
gradual and gentle
The outcome is what counts.
In this case?
✔ Smoking stopped ✔ A decade-long habit released ✔ Freedom reclaimed
And I love that this client checked back in to share her win—because it’s a beautiful reminder that progress doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful.
Sometimes it whispers.
And then one day you look back and say, “Wow. I actually did that.”
Yes. You did. 💛
If you’re wondering whether change has to be instant to be real, the answer is no. And if you’re wondering whether one session can be enough to start something meaningful… well, you just read the answer to that, too.

Politics has become a full-contact sport for the nervous system.
Constant headlines. Endless opinions. High emotional charge.
If you feel tense, exhausted, or emotionally hijacked, it’s not because you’re “too sensitive.” It’s because your nervous system wasn’t designed for nonstop threat signals.
Hypnosis and NLP are powerful tools for resetting the stress response.
In sessions, we help your mind:
disengage from chronic fight-or-flight
restore emotional neutrality
regain a sense of calm control — even when the world feels loud
You can stay informed without being overwhelmed. You can care without carrying constant tension.
Your peace is not a political position — it’s a health priority.
👉 If politics are living rent-free in your nervous system, hypnosis can help you evict the stress.
We do offer a free in office consultation to explain these tools of hypnotherapy and NLP Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Come on in with any questions. 425-564-8608. https://www.mindworkshypnosis.net.
If you smoke, you already know all the reasons to stop.
Health. Money. Smell. Freedom.
The issue isn’t knowledge. It’s conditioning.
Smoking is a learned pattern stored in the unconscious — tied to stress relief, breaks, identity, and emotional regulation. That’s why willpower alone rarely works.
Hypnosis works because it speaks the language of the habit-forming mind.
In Michael’s and my stop-smoking work, we:
break the unconscious association between cigarettes and relief
install new, healthier automatic responses
reinforce identity as a non-smoker (this part matters a lot)
Clients are often surprised by how easy it feels when the change happens at the right level.
You don’t need more struggle. You need a smarter approach.
👉 If you’re ready to be done with smoking — not fighting it, but finished — hypnosis can help. Learn more: Stop Smoking Services.
“I’ll be more disciplined.” “I’ll stop procrastinating.” “I’ll finally follow through.”
And by February… those resolutions are quietly packed away with last year’s gym shoes.
Here’s the truth most people never hear: Resolutions fail because they’re made at the conscious level — and lived (or not lived) at the unconscious level.
Your unconscious mind runs habits, motivation, emotional patterns, and follow-through. So when you try to “force” change with logic alone, you’re pushing uphill.
That’s where hypnosis and NLP shine.
In my work, we don’t rely on white-knuckling your way through change. Instead, we:
align your unconscious expectations with your conscious goals
design feelings like motivation, calm, and confidence
remove internal resistance that sabotages progress
When the mind is aligned, change feels natural — not exhausting.
If you’re ready for a New Year that actually feels different, hypnosis can help you build change from the inside out.
👉 Curious what that could look like for you? Reach out and let’s talk.
Some people think personal change has to be slow. Gradual. A long and winding road.
But here’s a secret I’ve learned over decades of helping people transform:
When the unconscious mind is ready and the right tools are applied… change can be swift, powerful, and beautifully inevitable.
Last Friday, a wonderful woman named Paula came in for her first Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy session with me. She was ready — ready to release old patterns, ready to feel better, ready to reclaim her life.
And, after that one session, just four days later… this arrived in my inbox:
⭐ VERBATIM CLIENT REVIEW ⭐
Paula writes:
Connie, I just saw you on Friday…just 4 days ago but the changes in my mindset, automatic thoughts and behavior has been tremendous!
no emotional eating. I have no desire. In fact, I only have desire to eat healthy, light foods.
I’m honoring my need to rest more.
no negative thoughts. It’s like its hard for them to even come back. I’m automatically thinking & speaking my new empowering thoughts about myself with boldness
definitely increased confidence
less worry.
Thank you so much!🙏🏽 I’ll keep you posted on my progress. — Paula
When I say I love what I do, this is why.
This isn’t willpower. This isn’t “trying harder.” This is the brain rewiring itself to support joy, confidence, and healthy habits — automatically.
At Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP, we specialize in helping people break old patterns and install better ones: ✔ Emotional eating → emotional freedom ✔ Negative self-talk → empowered thinking ✔ Worry → calm trust ✔ Overwhelm → clarity and balance ✔ Low confidence → grounded strength
And the best part? Change doesn’t have to take months. Sometimes it happens in a single session… and it grows from there. Just like Paula’s one session.
If you’re ready for your own breakthrough — whether it’s stress, habits, confidence, weight issues, anxiety, or anything else that holds you back — I’m here. And your mind is more powerful and capable than you think.
Well, this was a lovely thing to show up in my mail box! I’m honored to share that Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP has been recognized with a 2025 Best of BusinessRate Award for Hypnotherapy Service here in Bellevue. ✨💙
Now, you know me — I’m not in this work for plaques or trophies (though the shiny gold seal is pretty fun!). What lights me up is helping people step into their power… release fear… quit old habits… build new patterns of confidence, joy, and success.
But every now and then, it is wonderful to have someone say: “Hey, what you’re doing matters.”
And truly — the credit belongs to my amazing clients. You’re the ones who show up brave, curious, ready for change. You’re the ones who let me guide your unconscious mind into new possibilities. You’re the ones who transform.
This award is simply a reflection of that collective journey — ✨ the transformations, ✨ the laughter, ✨ the aha moments, ✨ the Designer Feelings® and Designer Beliefs® created on purpose.
So thank you for trusting me with your goals, your hopes, and your change-work.
Here’s to a 2026 filled with even more success, confidence, and personal transformation. 🌟 Let’s keep making magic happen.
— Connie Brannan, CHt. Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP Bellevue, Washington
You don’t have to wait for the ball to drop in Times Square to start changing your life. Your unconscious mind does not own a calendar. It isn’t circling January 1st in red ink and saying, “Sorry, come back later.” Change happens when you decide it does. If you’re already thinking about eating better, feeling calmer, quitting smoking, sleeping deeply, or simply being more confident in 2026…why not get that momentum rolling now?
Here’s the problem with “I’ll start on New Year’s”: it trains your mind to delay success. Every time you push change into the future, you reinforce the old pattern for a few more weeks (or months…or years). With Hypnosis & NLP, we flip that script. We speak directly to the unconscious patterns that run your habits, your cravings, your stress responses, your stories about what’s possible for you—and we rewire them. That means new automatic responses: calm where there used to be anxiety, “no thanks” where there used to be overeating or cigarettes, confidence where there used to be doubt.
In my work at Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP, I use a unique blend of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), custom Hypnotherapy, and my own Designer Feelings® processes to help you step into your goals now, not “someday.” Sessions are comfortable, fun, fascinating, interactive, and focused on results—not like counseling and years of talking about a problem to little effect. Our work is hours, not years! These tools are completely different, and far more effective. Most clients notice positive shifts after the very first session, and those changes continue to build as we work together. Imagine walking into January already in motion: lighter, calmer, more in control, with your unconscious mind already running the new program.
If you’re ready to stop waiting and start living the changes you want, I’d be delighted to help you jump-start your New Year, early. Reach out to schedule your free consultation or first session and let’s get your unconscious mind working for you, right now—so January 1st is simply a celebration of the progress you’ve already made.
December is “wrap it up and reset” month. We’re wrapping presents, wrapping up the year, wrapping our minds around what we want more of (and less of!) in 2026.
Here’s the secret: you don’t have to wait for January 1st to start your resolutions. Now is good. Your unconscious mind doesn’t care what the calendar says. It’s ready for change anytime!
Stressed by holidays? Overdoing the sugar/wine/snacks? Discomfort with social situations, travel, or family triggers? Ready to step into the new year lighter, calmer, and more in control instead of dragging the same old patterns along for the ride?
That’s where my work comes in. With customized Hypnosis & NLP (including my Designer Feelings® process), we install new automatic responses now—so December becomes your warm-up month for a much better year ahead.

On this Thanksgiving, I’m feeling especially grateful—for you.
Thank you to everyone who has walked through my door or joined me on Zoom this year… Everyone who said, “I’m ready to change,” even if a part of them was nervous… Everyone who trusted their unconscious mind and trusted me to guide the process.
I get a front-row seat to something pretty incredible: people deciding that old fears, old habits, and old stories are not how their life has to be. Watching you step into more confidence, more calm, more freedom—that’s what I’m most thankful for.
Today, as you enjoy your holiday (and hopefully something delicious), I invite you to notice:
What you’re proud of in yourself this year
The ways you’ve grown, even quietly, inside
The little shifts that mean you’re already moving toward the life you want
And if you’re ready for bigger shifts—less anxiety, more confidence, greater control over habits and emotions—know that help is here. Your mind is powerful, and you don’t have to do it alone.
From my heart to yours: Happy Thanksgiving. May your day be full of warmth, good food, and thoughts that support the best version of you.
Now, before you picture crystals, incense, and someone waving a giant feather over your head—breathe. We’re not going full woo-woo here. Let’s talk about “aura” in a very real, very practical way.
Because whether you call it aura, vibe, or just “the energy you give off”… you know it’s a thing.
You’ve met people where you think:
“Wow, they feel so calm and grounded,” or
“Yikes, something’s off and I don’t even know why.”
That’s what we’ll call your aura today: The felt impact of your thoughts, emotions, and unconscious patterns.
And the best news? You’re not stuck with the aura you woke up with.
Your Aura = Your Unconscious Mind on Loudspeaker
Your “aura” isn’t some mysterious fog floating around you. It’s:
Your body language
Your micro-expressions
Your tone of voice
Your internal self-talk
Your emotional habits
All of that is driven by your unconscious mind.
If your inner soundtrack is:
“I’m not good enough… I’m tired… life is hard… I’m always anxious…”
…your energy will absolutely show it. People feel that, even if no one says it out loud.
…you radiate something very different: confidence, calm, possibility.
That’s aura. And that’s changeable.
You Don’t Need Sage. You Need Better Programming.
A lot of people try to “fix the aura” from the outside in:
New outfit ✅
Coffee #4 of the day ✅
Motivational quote on Instagram ✅
Those things are fun, but they’re like spraying perfume in a messy room. The underlying stuff is still sitting there.
With hypnosis and NLP, we go inside and change the patterns at the source:
Old anxious thoughts
Heavy emotional baggage
Limiting beliefs (“I’m not enough,” “Nothing works for me,” etc.)
Habitual reactions that no longer serve you
When those shift, your aura—your presence, your vibe—changes automatically. You don’t have to “act confident.” You are confident. You don’t have to “fake calm.” You feel calm.
What Do You Want Your Aura to Broadcast?
For Aura Awareness Day, here’s a little self-check:
When you walk into a room, what do you want people to feel?
Calm and centered?
Friendly and open?
Confident and capable?
Light and joyful?
Now ask: Is that what you’re actually broadcasting today?
If the answer is “sometimes… maybe… not really…” that’s where I come in.
At Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP, I help you:
Turn down anxiety and overthinking
Release old patterns that weigh you down
Install new, powerful beliefs about yourself
Feel more in control of your emotions and your life
The result? Your aura shifts. People respond to you differently. And most importantly, you feel different—on the inside where it counts.
Aura Tune-Up, Hypnosis Style
A private Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy session with me is like a deep clean and upgrade for your inner world:
We work with your unconscious mind to:
Clear out old fear and doubt
Change the pictures and movies in your mind
Rewire your automatic responses
And we build in new:
Confidence
Calm
Motivation
Joy
You walk out lighter, clearer, more you.
And yes—people around you will notice, even if they don’t have the words for it. “You seem different… happier… more relaxed…” That’s aura.
Ready to Brighten Your Aura?
If Aura Awareness Day has you noticing that your energy feels:
Drained
Stressed
Stuck in old stories
…let’s change that.
You don’t have to carry around an aura shaped by old experiences, old programming, and old pain. Your unconscious mind can learn new ways to feel and respond—quickly, comfortably, and yes, even enjoyably.
Two new clients joined me this week — a 9-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl, both bright, caring, and… both anxious. The world feels big to them right now, and that’s where I come in. At Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP, I help children discover their own power to feel calm, confident, and in control.
You know what’s wonderful about kids? They’re naturals at hypnosis.
✨ 1. They already live in trance. Children slip easily into imagination and daydream — which is exactly what trance is. We’re simply helping them step into a more resourceful trance, one where confidence, calm, and self-trust grow stronger.
✨ 2. They have great imaginations. In NLP and hypnosis, imagination is the secret ingredient for fast change. Kids can turn worries into silly cartoons, shrink fears down to tiny specks, or picture themselves brave and strong — and when the mind believes it, the feelings follow.
✨ 3. They respond fast. Children don’t carry decades of limiting beliefs or habits. When they learn that they control their feelings and focus, the change can be instant and lasting. It’s not “therapy.” It’s empowerment.
✨ 4. It’s life-changing early on. Why wait until adulthood to learn how to manage emotions, boost confidence, and think positively? With these tools now, kids step into school, sports, and friendships with new energy and self-assurance.
At Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP, I work with children as young as eight. Sessions are engaging, positive, and full of “mind games” that help them feel successful — right away. Anxiety fades. Confidence shines.
