Yesterday, Michael put on a comedy stage hypnosis show for hypnosis students, enthusiasts, and professionals.\u00a0 It was FANTASTIC.\u00a0 We’re talkin’ FUN!\u00a0 Entertaining, and fascinating!\u00a0 He’s GOOD!\u00a0 He had zombies dancing, losing body parts, finding body parts, a\u00a0girl miscounting her fingers,\u00a0forgetting her name, remembering her name, forgetting her name,<\/p>\n

\u00a0a top secret agent answering her ringing shoe,\u00a0magic x-ray glasses revealing people in their underwear,\u00a0and all manner of good clean hypnotic fun.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you’ve ever seen a stage hypnosis show, it’s an entertainment like no other.\u00a0 Volunteers are guided to trance and then led to\u00a0experience all manner of hypnotic phenemona in\u00a0amusing skits, such as I’ve described above.\u00a0 Amnesia.\u00a0\u00a0Hallucinations, both positive hallucinations\u00a0(seeing things that aren’t there, hearing things that aren’t there, smelling things that aren’t there, and so on…) and negative hallucinations (not seeing things that ARE there).\u00a0 Body catalepsy.\u00a0 (Inability to move certain muscle groups, such as an arm or the eyes.)\u00a0 Post hypnotic suggestions.\u00a0 (Engaging in a behavior outside trance\u00a0triggered by something communicated during trance.)\u00a0 Very cool to see AND experience!\u00a0 It’s performance, it’s\u00a0art, and ethical performers such as Michael\u00a0are respectful and never embarass anyone.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Michael and I have both been trained and certified as Professional Stage Hypnotists.\u00a0 Stage hypnosis is fun stuff.\u00a0 It ain’t therapy.\u00a0 Nor is it intended to be.\u00a0 As I said, it’s FUN!\u00a0 Fun that makes people smile and feel good, and laugh.\u00a0 Why not?<\/p>\n

Some hypnotherapists look down on stage hypnosis as frivolous and providing a myth-filled, skewed, and erroneous view of hypnosis as mind control, and some stage hypnotists look down on hypnotherapists as unskilled with no professional standards of training and excellence.\u00a0 And no business sense.\u00a0 Both are right, and both are wrong.\u00a0 Personally, I LOVE stage hypnosis.\u00a0 It has value.\u00a0 It has it’s time and its place and its purpose.\u00a0 Entertainment is a good thing.\u00a0 As is education.\u00a0 (Think Mr. Wizard for science!)\u00a0<\/p>\n

I do both, and I love both, clinical hypnotherapy and stage hypnosis.\u00a0 No conflict in my mind!\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 As I mention in my personal story about my journey to a life\u00a0and career and joy\u00a0in\u00a0hypnosis, stage hypnosis was my first\u00a0intro.\u00a0 I believe it is for a lot of people!<\/p>\n
