Are any of you Costco members?\u00a0 Costco is a wonderful\u00a0place and Michael and I have been members for years, back from when it used to be called “Price Club.”\u00a0 It’s a wholesale club, where you can buy things in bulk and at great prices, like industrial sized cans of olives, or 10 pound bags of\u00a0rice.\u00a0 Or optical services, or clothing.\u00a0 Or furniture, or electronics.\u00a0 Or fine jewelry.<\/p>\n
It’s a giant warehouse FULL of good things.\u00a0 One nice thing about membership is the Reward Gift Certificate that you earn as an Executive Member, it’s 2% rebate on your year’s purchases.<\/p>\n
Well, here’s the story.\u00a0 I forgot about the rebate.\u00a0 They come yearly attached to the renewal notice, in the mail.\u00a0 We typically renew our annual membership at the store, so don’t pay undue attention to the paper renewal notices.\u00a0 I got one a few months back, and tucked it away, figuring “we’ll renew at the store.”\u00a0 Forgot about it.\u00a0 Never saw the attached MONEY, the rebate check for our account.<\/p>\n
Today, I was shredding a pile of old documents, old paid bills, credit card receipts, drafts of our tax returns, and etc.\u00a0 I found the Costco bill from 2 years ago.\u00a0 And the REWARD check was attached.\u00a0 Yahoooo!\u00a0 No expiration date, apparently.\u00a0 Free money!\u00a0 Free money!\u00a0 THEN, I remembered that I had seen the current year’s renewal, and I knew that that reward check, also attached,\u00a0would be even bigger.\u00a0 We shop at Costco A LOT!!\u00a0 However, I couldn’t find it.\u00a0 I thought (using my conscious mind) of every place that envelope could be, and looked.\u00a0 Nothing.\u00a0 I wondered if I had shredded it before, or tossed it, without ever seeing the\u00a0money certificate inside.\u00a0 Bottom line, I couldn’t find it. \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n
Then I went to work.\u00a0 Did my thing.\u00a0 Didn’t think about it again.\u00a0 Came home.\u00a0 And went RIGHT to the spot where I had tucked the Costco renewal notice envelope.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (On a ledge underneath the paper tray on my\u00a0computer’s printer.)\u00a0 There it was!\u00a0 Another rebate check–so now we have two to spend.\u00a0 You can guess where I’m going tonight: shopping at COSTCO.\u00a0 We’re talking a few hundred dollars, which is worth\u00a0remembering and finding.\u00a0 Who wouldn’t like a few hundred unexpected\u00a0bucks to spend for the holidays!?<\/p>\n
My unconscious mind had percolated on the problem of the lost envelope\u00a0today while I was doing other things, and then gave me the answer of where to find it this evening.\u00a0 I didn’t THINK again about looking for it, all of a sudden my hand was reaching under the printer there saying:\u00a0 “What is this?”\u00a0\u00a0 Pulled out the Costco envelope, and found the check.\u00a0 Amazing.\u00a0 Powerful.\u00a0 COOL!\u00a0 Thank you, Unconscious Mind. I APPRECIATE YOU!! X O<\/p>\n
