Hi, Hypnosis Friends!<\/p>\n

It appears the internet today is fascinated with THIS dress:<\/p>\n

What color is this dress?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Is it blue with black trim or white with gold trim?<\/p>\n

When I first glanced at the picture the answer was obvious to me: \u00a0white and gold. \u00a0Then I read an article about the hubbub over the color. \u00a0I looked again at the pic, and lo and behold, I saw it as blue and black. \u00a0I can make it flip in my mind. \u00a0Right now it’s white and gold again. \u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

What color do you see?<\/p>\n

This is evidence of the power of the mind to create reality. \u00a0The dress is a thing. \u00a0It exists. \u00a0It has color properties. \u00a0However, we can see it in different ways. \u00a0Just so the situations and stories of our life.<\/p>\n

Are we anxious or are we excited? \u00a0They feel similar in the body–it’s how we label them to ourselves that matters. \u00a0Is saying “NO!” stubbornness? \u00a0Or is it independence? \u00a0Is that little girl bossy, or is she showing leadership qualities? \u00a0We choose how we look at things.<\/p>\n

Now, as I write this, looking up again, the dress is blue and black. \u00a0\ud83d\ude42 \u00a0When I was a kid I loved optical illusions, I had books and books of them. \u00a0I still do love them. \u00a0They are not really illusions, however, they are mind choices in seeing. \u00a0And there’s always more than one option.<\/p>\n

This “dressgate” situation reminds me of the spinning dancer phenomenon. \u00a0Is she twirling clockwise or counterclockwise? \u00a0Depending on which foot you see her as standing on, she spins the other direction. \u00a0It’s wild. \u00a0It’s the power of the mind to “see” differently. \u00a0Stare at her and see if you can get her to change. \u00a0I can! \u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

\"Spinning_Dancer\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Maybe the world and “reality” as we see it is not so rigid as we think. \u00a0And this is wonderful, actually. \u00a0It means we are in control and can change meanings as useful.<\/p>\n

This is part and parcel of hypnosis & NLP. \u00a0It’s called “reframing.” \u00a0Seeing things in a new way that make us feel better, think better, choose better actions.<\/p>\n
