I’m helping a client who has a phobia:\u00a0 fear of dinosaurs. That’s a new one!\u00a0 And it’s also proof positive that these fears are irrational and cannot be solved consciously.\u00a0 How\u00a0many dinos is she likely to run into on a daily basis that it should be a continuing terror in her life?<\/p>\n
They’re extinct!\u00a0 Let’s make the fear be extinct.\u00a0 I know how!\u00a0 Got to get into the unconscious mind to solve these things! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
Fear can be attached to anything, and can be unattached in a heartbeat.\u00a0 That’s the power of Neuro Linguistic Programming.\u00a0 NLP.\u00a0 I know it’s true!\u00a0 I’ve lived the difference from fear to calm–I had a phobia that lasted decades.\u00a0 Spiders.\u00a0 Panic and hysteria and adrenalin and screaming.\u00a0 After 15 minutes of NLP performed 5 years ago, “poof!”\u00a0 No more fear.\u00a0 I like to give clients proof, known in the trade as “convincers.”\u00a0 Well, my neurology of fascinated clear-minded CALM while standing next to a spider nowadays, it’s a good convincer for me!<\/p>\n
It’s\u00a0 cool to help people with these things, and I’ve worked with pretty much
\neverything under the sun.\u00a0 Or so I\u00a0 thought.\u00a0 Dinosaurs is a new one.\u00a0 Beyond the common fears, fear of public\u00a0speaking, fear of heights, fear of flying, fear of driving, fear of spiders and\u00a0snakes, fear of elevators, fear of the dentist, I’ve helped people with fears\u00a0of overripe bananas, record stores, the wind (seeing movement in trees led to
\npanic), the color red, bridges, sleep, and more.\u00a0 But Dinos!\u00a0\u00a0As I said, that’s a new one.
\nWe’ll make short work of that fear!<\/p>\n
Fear\u00a0 can be useful, when it’s appropriate.\u00a0 Historically,\u00a0 when the saber toothed tiger showed up at the cave, it was a good response to\u00a0 run away.\u00a0 If man had walked the earth at\u00a0 the same era as dinosaurs, it would have been useful to run away then, too,
\nonly we didn’t.<\/p>\n
