Hi, there!<\/p>\n

My mom liked yellow.\u00a0 Bright sunshine-y yellow.\u00a0 She used it in her artist’s pallette, she decorated her home with it.\u00a0 Our kitchen growing up–bright yellow.\u00a0 Yellow curtains, yellow walls, yellow touches.\u00a0 Warm.\u00a0 Welcoming.\u00a0 Love.\u00a0 I like yellow, too.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 She also liked rose color, and\u00a0had in reality a pair of “rose colored glasses.”<\/p>\n

When you think of happy, what color is it?\u00a0 I like red.\u00a0 Bright, vibrant, jewel tone red.\u00a0 That’s excited and happy.<\/p>\n

One of the things you learn in NLP, Neuro-Linguistic Programming,\u00a0is that you can create more of what you want in your life and less of what you don’t want in your life by simply adjusting the representations of\u00a0the world in your own\u00a0mind.\u00a0 Sounds easy.\u00a0 (It is.)\u00a0 Sounds\u00a0simplistic.\u00a0 (It is.)\u00a0\u00a0But, guess what…it’s amazingly powerful and it works to make permanent and positive shifts in your life.\u00a0 One of those possible adjustments in submodalities\u00a0(as they’re called) of your internal representations is color.<\/p>\n

When you identify a color that when you consider it, makes you feel happy, take that color and use it.\u00a0 Use it like a wash of watercolor paint and splash it, overlay it on your internal visual of\u00a0any situation that needs more happy in it.\u00a0 If you have an internal picture which feels negative when you think of it, and the visual is dark, gloomy, full of rain clouds, pour in the sunshine.\u00a0 If yellow is your happy color, fill the picture with a golden glow.\u00a0 Imagine the light shifting in that image.\u00a0 The quality of the light shifting.\u00a0 The color shifting.\u00a0 Your feelings shift as well.<\/p>\n

Here’s another experiment!\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 If a problem is bright and vivid, take the color out of it.\u00a0 Nullify it.\u00a0 Take a tension headache.\u00a0 Imagine a color for it.\u00a0 Change the color.\u00a0 Lessen its intensity.\u00a0\u00a0Drain the color out of it.\u00a0\u00a0Make it turn into opaque, crystalline, clear, fading, fading the color.\u00a0 The discomfort fades, too.\u00a0\u00a0 Now, of course, I have to lay out a disclaimer.\u00a0 I’m not medical and headaches\u00a0may indicate a medical issue which may require medical treatment–see your doctor for headaches, especially\u00a0if it’s unexplained,\u00a0recurring or sustained.\u00a0\u00a0 But for a run of the mine head discomfort (I get\u00a0that with caffeine withdrawal), play with the color experiment.<\/p>\n

NLP is really amazing, and my clients are often amazed as well.\u00a0 Their conscious minds are trying like mad to understand\u00a0how it is that\u00a0they feel so dramatically different (and better)\u00a0so suddenly.\u00a0 Improving confidence, reducing fear, reducing stress, removing cravings for nicotine and sugar and so on.\u00a0 “How can it be so easy?”\u00a0 It just is.\u00a0 NLP has been called “hypnosis on steroids.”\u00a0 Yes, it is.<\/p>\n
