After a Bad Breakup, She Got Her Confidence Back!

Find your success with Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP.

Hi, Seattle Hypnosis Friends!

Happy First Day of Winter! It’s also Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year. Transitions. It’s only brighter days from here on out, and brighter can be more than just sunshine in the sky!  It can be outlook as well. When we feel better, life changes all around us. Case in point:

Patty Fields, of Bothell, my recent Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and hypnosis client. She was in a dark place, but found her way to Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP and to me. Here’s her report after one session of work together, which she is allowing me to share:

“Hi Connie, I hope this email finds you well this morning. This is Patty. I just want to express how grateful I am for what you did for me. Thank you for restoring confidence in me.

Connie, when I called you that day, I was broken. I was driving around. I didn’t know where I was going. I had been feeling this way for a year since I moved here, but mostly for the past two weeks after my break up. Let me tell you, this is the first time I am shedding a tear since I last saw you, only this time these are tears of joy.

I haven’t cried, I haven’t looked back, I haven’t regretted anything. I have moved forward. Matter of fact, by Thursday, I had a job offer with one of the companies that I’ve been really wanting to work for. I had so much confidence during my interview.

I have been able to complete some tasks that I was neglecting and most of all, I am so proud to ignore my ex’s many attempts to contact me. Had I not met you, I’d have jumped right back into his arms but I know I’m good enough to do it on my own.

Thank you so much, Connie. You’re such a blessing. Thank you for changing my life.  Happy holidays!” – Patty Fields, Bothell, WA.

Brighter days, starting now!  Yay, Patty.  You go, girl!

Are you ready to put the past drama and trauma behind you?  We can do that.  How?  We hold onto memories (and wisdom gained from life experience) but let go of any sting or hurt.  We build up the good stuff, calm, confident, happy, optimistic…and off you go.  Into a better life.  Attracting the good things and people in your life that are worthy of you!  I’m happy to help.  Call me for a free consult meeting and I’ll be happy to explain what I do and how I can help.

Lisa Found Her Calm – Adios to Anxiety with Skilled Hypnotherapy and NLP Services

End stress responses with skilled hypnosis & NLP.
End stress responses with skilled hypnosis & NLP.

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

Anxiety kills.  It impairs sleep.  It weakens the immune system.  It ages, and stresses the body, and negatively affects health in a myriad of ways.   And it’s something that we can easily change, with skilled hypnosis and NLP.

One of my key services at Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP is stress release and stress management.  We give anxiety the old heave ho!  Here is one more recent happy client story. Lisa Hanson, of Seattle, found her calm.  And she likes it!  Here is her report after a few sessions of Neuro Linguistic Hypnotherapy™ in our Bellevue clinic:

“Hi Connie,  I am doing fantastic!!! I am so calm, like all day long. At work, nothing stresses me out and it is so easy to be nice to everyone. The issues that used to push my buttons don’t anymore. It is so easy to ignore the annoying things that happen and just move on with my life.

You are amazing and have improved my quality of life multiple times over.

I do the self hypnosis every night and it is working. I am so thankful for you and our time and can only say I needed to meet you about 45 years ago!!! But, I am really excited for my future!!!!  I have been telling everyone about you!!! Thank you so much!!!”  — Lisa Hanson, Seattle, WA.

Terrific, Lisa!  What’s nice about the work we do is that we automate change to continue long term.  We get the UNconscious mind on board to hold the new, good changes in place.  Unconscious means outside of awareness, which means all this happens back behind the curtain in your mind without you needing to DO anything.  As I tell my clients, we create the changes in office, with fun and fascinating interactive imagination games, as well as the comfort of eye closed hypnosis.  There’s no ongoing “homework,”  You sit back, relax, and you just notice that you begin to feel better.  A LOT better.  Like Lisa. And feeling better helps you to respond differently to life.

We craft these changes together.  You pick how you want your life to be, and we make it happen.  NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) is the highest form of hypnosis, a conversational, collaborative hypnosis, and our number one tool at Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP.  Learn more anytime!  We do offer a free in person office consultation.

Call us at 425-564-8608.  As Lisa will tell you, it’s a good choice.

“At Cause” Your Life to be Wonderful

Seattle area's best NLP services and hypnosis.Hi, Hypno-Friends!

I’m often asked “What is hypnosis all about?” Here is another answer. It’s about moving yourself from “I can’t.” to “Yes, I can!” It’s empowerment. Here are some thoughts I’ve written up on the empowerment power of hypnosis!

There are unhappy people in the world who say: “I can’t!” and they make excuses. There are people in the world who let their lives be limited. They feel trapped or stuck. “My life sucks.”

On the flip side, there are powerful people in the world who say: “Yes, I can!” And they do. They say: “I’m going for it! I choose how I live.”

Which describes you? And, which would you rather be?

Empowerment. Hypnotherapy and particularly, NLP, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, are about opening up the mind to new, more desired choices and new possibilities. And making them happen.

A problem is really a problem only if you believe it to be. Henry Ford, the famous automaker, had that wonderful saying: “If you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right!” Hypnotherapy is all about “Yes, I can.” The belief controls the actions and outcomes. Hypnotherapy empowers useful beliefs.

In my line of work there is a terminology to describe this empowered vs. unhappy state of mind. It’s called being “at cause” vs. being “at effect.” Being “at cause” means I cause my world to be what I choose it to be. Power. Choice. Control. Being “at effect” means I am a cork bobbing on the ocean, helpless to the seas and currents. “At effect” means no control, feeling like a victim.

An aside: Now, this is funny. My speech to text program heard “at effect” as “a defect.” “Being a defect means you are a cork…” And people actually do get this idea. They think of themselves as having a defect, something defective about them, their mind, their personally. I say no way! What we do and how we live, it’s all a choice. And what’s nice about choice is that we can always choose something new at any time.

It is my belief and also the premise of the work I do that people are infinitely resourceful. They do have choices. What I do is open up more choices for them. It’s so easy to do this. Fear is a choice. Calm is a different choice. Overeating is a choice. Healthy eating is a different choice. Smoking is a choice. Not smoking is a different choice. “At effect” people have no idea of their own ability to choose, they live their life in that victim mentality feeling trapped. It doesn’t have to be that way. While other therapies which activate conscious resourcing offer a very limited utility for change, hypnosis kicks “at effect” out the door.

Here’s an example from my work. I had a client who is a musician. She had a fear and anxiety around solo performances. She had been to other therapists for months who made her examine in infinite detail her life history, her relationship with her parents and the deep, deep, deep, psychological reasons for the existence of her problem. Guess what? That didn’t fix it. She came to me and one session of NLP/hypnotherapy later she is performing without anxiety. It’s a new choice that her mind has chosen. I want calm and confident! Okay let’s do that! (That’s where hypnosis and NLP come in, they can do that!) This change in a person’s thinking, that’s being “at cause.”

If only the world knew how easy it is to be powerful.

I believe everyone is capable of choice. Everyone is capable of making their life better. Everyone is capable of getting the life they want. These tools I use are so fast and fascinating. and they result in a life being “at cause”. That means we make choices that bring us happiness, joy, health, and success of all varieties.

Another benefit of all this, the bridge burns after you cross it. When you become a person “at cause,” the excuses for things not being the way you want them to be dry up. You’re not making excuses anymore, you’re taking action. And creating change and success. Once we see ourselves as powerful and in control of our choices and outcomes, there’s no going back. And that’s wonderful. With the right tools, flipping that switch, power ON, in the mind can happen faster than you think.

Find Your Happy Perspective with Seattle’s Best Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

Here’s a brief video showing variant states of mind, rage vs. joy:

Life happens, work, bosses, traffic, stress.  We don’t have to let it enrage us. We can choose a balanced and harmonious response to life. It’s called: Happy. Hypnosis is a fabulous tool to create those happy responses. Discover it. Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP is in the Seattle area, and serves all of Western Washington and beyond with the best in Neuro Linguistic Hypnotherapy services.

Happy is not just a state of mind, it’s a balance of distinct chemical reactions in the brain. Endorphins, oxytocin, and so on are released.  What people don’t realize is that these chemical reactions are under our control.  Your mind is more powerful than any pharmacy or mood altering drug.

My Weight Loss Success – Feel Great and Lose Weight

Happy with hypnosis Weight Loss Success
Do you like what you see when you look in the mirror?

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

Today I want to share a weight loss success story.  There are many, many client success stories on my Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP website of all varieties (over 180 at last count), and many, many weight loss success stories in particular.

This one is different.  This one is me.

I have a lot of new readers to my blog and I’d like to share my story again.  One of the things that makes me different from other hypnotists in the area is my confidence, my absolute knowing that hypnosis works to change anything.  That includes habits, health, energy, body size and shape.  How do I know?  I live that success.

That picture up above is me, taken today.  It’s not vanity to do my “selfies,” it’s how I measure weight loss success.  I don’t get on the scale.  I measure success by how I feel and how I look.  How my clothes fit me.  I’m wearing clothes half the size.  I measure success by how much energy I have, walking, climbing stairs, and so on.  I especially like to compare my face to how I used to look, several years ago, before I started using hypnosis & NLP for weight loss. Here is a pic of my face from 2005:

Overweight is a health concern.

Do I look different to you?

I grew up as a child with weight issues and most of my adult life as well.  I know the ins and outs of unhealthy habits and negative thinking, and what drives changes in weight, both up and down.  I know about diets of all varieties, starvation and otherwise. And because I am so intimately conversant in all this, I can help you!  I KNOW how to lose weight and keep it off for years!  I’m doing it.  And I know how to help you to be successful as well.

How do we do this with Neuro Linguistic Hypnotherapy®?  When I work one on one with my hypnosis weight loss clients, we address everything, including habits, emotions, and beliefs!  We tweak anything and everything that needs changing in you to help you be successful.  We work on:  overeating, food choices, sugar addiction, carbs, emotional eating, stress eating, bored eating, celebration eating, alcohol consumption, speed of eating, mindless eating, not drinking enough water, etc.  We pump up motivation to exercise.  We remove any limiting beliefs that might hinder your success. And, most importantly of all, we improve your self image.  All this changes how you feel, and how you act in the world.

I help you to see yourself as vibrant, happy, and enthused with life, an active person who chooses healthy.  And you become that person.  When I was very young, there was a popular expression:  “what you see is what you get.” Well, it turns out that that is true, as it applies to what you see in your own mind about your own life.

I’ve found the secret to weight loss.  Here it is, in a nutshell.  People think, when I lose weight, then I will have earned the right to feel good and like myself.  I’ll be feeling energetic, proud, confident, sexy, in control, high self esteem, joyous, and so on.

That’s backwards.  It’s not lose weight and feel great.  It’s FEEL GREAT AND LOSE WEIGHT.  In that order.

Once you start feeling better now, with all those good emotions rolling in you (even before you’ve “earned” them), your body begins changing automatically.  With my work, we bring and attach a custom blend of good feelings to your now.  And here comes the weight loss. Patterns shift.  Eating changes.  Easy.  If you check out the many video testimonials of success on my websites, you’ll notice a common theme:  “I feel so good.  And it’s so surprisingly easy to lose weight.”  Those two things are connected, and in the proper order.

I know this is true.  Look at my face.  I’ve done it.  And I am doing it.  One of the big issues people face is regaining weight.  Yo-yo dieting, it’s called.  Well, I’ve been a lighter weight for 10 years now.  Long term!  When you’re focused on healthy and feeling good, that’s just the way it is and how you live.  I help you focus.  And maintain focus.  I give you tools to take home to maintain success long term.

What would you think of a hypnotist who is obese telling you they can help you to lose weight?   If they could, why don’t they do it for themselves?  What would you think of a timid, self-doubt-ridden hypnotist telling you they can increase your confidence?  If they could, why don’t they do it for themselves?  What would you think of a physician who is a chain smoker telling you to lay off the cigarettes?  There’s something called “congruency” and it’s important in life and in business.  I just call it “walking the talk.”

Hypnosis and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming–a high tech conversational hypnosis) are the tools that we work with to get you from A to B.  If A is overweight and B is looking in the mirror and smiling with pleasure and success at the healthier face looking back, I can help.  Let’s do it!

Why Halloween is a very Hypnotic Holiday

Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

When I was little, this was my favorite holiday.  Perhaps it still is.  However, the appeal is not the sugar rush, nowadays.  It’s something more wonderful, and more useful, called imagination. Tonight I’ll be handing out candy to the neighborhood hobgoblins, and I get to see imagination in action.

I was in a coffee shop awhile ago, and a little boy and girl came up to me and informed me that they were, respectively, a princess and SUPERMAN!!!  He told me that with passion and intense conviction, and although he wasn’t wearing his costume at the moment, I could see it.  Yes, he was superman.

Knowing that you’re superman is a good thing.

Imagination is power.  To an unimaginative adult, a chair may be just a chair–something to sit on.  To a child, a chair may be so much more, a car, a pony, a fort to climb on, a spaceship.  What I love about Halloween is that it allows adults to reconnect to this essential and playful imagination that we all had as children.  I was at the costume store the other day, and saw imagination in full play.  Adult imagination.  Adults looking at, trying on, playing with Halloween costumes, and props–faces alive with “let’s pretend.”  Yes, I AM a pirate!   There was a magic in that store, and a life and energy that you don’t find in everyday life.  Simply:  it’s imagination.  One of the “rules of the mind” I teach in my Bellevue College courses is that “imagination is more powerful than knowledge.”  Yes, it is!

I love imagination.  It’s the stock in trade of what I do.  Helping people change, in ways they want to.  But, before they can do that, they have to have the imagination to see life could be different.  They must be able to imagine themselves cigarette-free, thinner, more successful, etc.

That’s part of what I help them do–because I can see it for them.  Clearly!  A person can come into my office with 50 pounds to lose, and I can fully imagine them thinner and healthier and living life with full passion.  It’s who they really are.  I can “see” their face thinner.  Their body slimmer.  I can see twitching turn to calm.  I can see happiness instead of depression.  Hypnosis helps me communicate what I know is true for them.  When people are feeling “stuck” in their lives, partly it’s because they’ve stomped down this innate childlike ability to see the world as full of possibility and potential.  I help people reconnect with that ability, and change is streamlined.

Halloween is something wonderful in that it allows us to play and imagine.  That’s a muscle worth stretching.

All the Best to you and yours this holiday,
Connie

World Hypnotism Day 1/28 – Thank You to Attendees!

Hi, Guys!

Michael and I attended the festivities today in Bellevue around our state’s National Guild of Hypnotists’ chapter’s World Hypnotism Day events.  Michael and I were financial sponsors of the event as well as participants.  Michael gave free public talks on getting over PTSD, and another on the Magic of Instant Change, and a class for professional hypnotists on hypnotic “inductions.”  (Bringing someone into hypnosis.)  He also manned a Q&A panel to answer questions re:  hypnosis and hypnotherapy.

I gave a free talk on Smoking Cessation, as well as a paid course for professionals on how to bring a resource state into a problem state and dissolve the problem state — Advanced techniques of NLP Anchoring.

It was a long day, but FUN!  Thank you to all who attended, and we hope you learned more about the power of your own minds.

World Hypnotism Day is an event to promote the understanding of hypnosis as a healing art–I think that we met that challenge today.  🙂  For more local events, keep your eyes on my “events page” at the top of this blog.  Hypnosis is something to be celebrated all year long, not just one day.

Warm Regards,
Connie

Spring has Sprung!

New life!
New life!

Happy first week of spring!  I like the heavily transitional seasons best, fall, and spring.  Where things change.  Big time!  We’ve got TREES here in the Pacific Northwest, and that’s terrific.  Boy, did I miss them when I lived elsewhere in the country.  I lived in the desert for years (Arizona), and there was a dearth of trees.  Cactus don’t count!  Coming home to Seattle was such a refreshing and green experience!  Yay, Seattle!  🙂

Fall and spring.  Trees tell the story. Fall is the time of letting go, which the trees manage in abundance and with ease. And now it’s spring!  It is the further development of that process, the healthy fresh new life that comes as a result.  My neighborhood is rich with pink blooming trees right now.  Cherry blossoms, I believe.  Beautiful!  Beautiful!  Beautiful!  Where’s my camera?

If you’re ready for some fresh, healthy new spring in your life, there’s a way to do that!  It’s called…hypnosis.  Let’s grow you something alive and beautiful.  Something happy and bright.  Look around you.  It’s time!

Warm Regards,
Connie

Boots & Chain-store Hypnosis

I was at the mall today, and I found it to be a red letter day to buy red leather boots.  Looking around the mall, I couldn’t help but notice boots upon boots upon boots–my reticular activating system was set on the boot channel, it seems.  In every store display window, and on the majority of feet marching past, old and young–EVERYONE in Seattle it seems was wearing boots today.  ‘Tis the season.  Shopping, and cold and wet.  BOOTS are the style.  Ankle boots, thigh high, and everything in between.  Fur, leather, rubber, knit.  Mostly black, but a few brights like my red out there.

Bombarded by the boots, I finally said:  “Ok, I’m in!”  The search was on, and I covered a lot of territory.  Shopping can take awhile, but when you find a real and valuable gem, you get to chortle with glee.  Now, the perfect new boots are in the bag.  My new red suede boots are very nice, and extremely well made.  Quality.  I think they’ll stand up to wear and last and look terrific long into the new year, and the next and the next.  It’s important to choose quality.   Cheapo and shoddy mass production don’t cut it. They tend to be ill fitting, cause blisters, and fall apart after walking in snow. You want fine crafted workmanship.  In footwear, and in hypnotists.

I think hypnosis should be as popular as boots.  That would be a GOOD thing for the world, with happier, healthier people running around enjoying life more and more and accomplishing their goals more and more and faster and easier.  That’s the power of hypnosis.  A helping tool deluxe!  When shopping, whether it’s  for shoes or for a hypnotist, and you’re looking for high quality, you’ve got to be alert to avoid weak and inferior product.  Unfortunately, it’s out there, as well.   Impersonal, and unskilled product.

Beware of hypnosis stores, with an eye on the bottom line, not the heart.  In the realm of your mind, you want somebody GOOD, somebody who can really help, with real and extensive training.  Hypnosis is an art, not a “cookie cutter” formula.  You want somebody with creativity  as well as skill.  You want somebody with presence and passion and heart, who’s been around the block and back again, and CARES.  You won’t find all that at the “here, put on these goggles and listen to this tape,  maybe you’ll be hypnotized and maybe not, maybe these suggestions will apply to your situation and maybe not” chain hypnosis store.

When you’re choosing a hypnotist, here are a few things to consider.  How many live, in-person trainings have they completed, and how recently?  What are the certifications earned?  Ask, and verify.  Are they from recognized, reputable schools, or is it Joe in his basement printing out  certs for his 2 hour internet course?  Are they committed to continuing education?  Do they have an explicit code of ethics to share with you?   How many different helping tools have they learned and mastered?   What  professional hypnosis affiliations, national and local, do they belong to?  How long have they been in business as a hypnotherapist?  Are there testimonials of proven success for issues similar to yours?  Do they have a business license?  Are they registered with the State of Washington as a hypnotherapist?  Also very important, trust your own vibe, how do they come across, look and/or sound (on the phone or face to face)–is the emphasis on “squeeze the money” or “I want to help!”?

Mindworks Hypnosis (in other words, me and Michael), we’re the real deal.  Michael and I want to help.  We can and we do.  Call us if you’re serious about improving your life.  The answers to all those questions are on our website:  http://www.mindworkshypnosis.net.  Our expertise.  Our trainings.  Our successes.  Our passion.  It’s like buying the best boots, the beautiful, well-formed ones that last and fit and bring joy and color to your life.

Warm Regards,
Connie

The Devil and James Bond

The other day Michael and I were driving, and I noticed the car ahead of me.  I said:  “There’s James Bond.”  (My sister had dated James Bond for awhile, but that’s another story.  🙂 )  The license plate number featured a familiar trio of numbers in it:  007.  Also, in the hot, red Ferrari next to me was the devil (or one of his henchmen) driving…that car featured 666.  Amusing?  Perhaps.  But WHY did those ideas pop into my mind…James Bond and the Devil?  I’ll tell you why!

Because our unconscious minds are amazing meaning-seeking devices.  Continuously looking for patterns!  And finding them.  You and me and each one of us, we are masters of pattern recognition.  It’s how we learn, and how we survive.  How we learn to recognize mom’s face as infants in the pixels of color dancing before our eyes, family, friends, a place of comfort, and how we learn to recognize danger as well.  THAT MEANS THIS.  That red and white octagon means lift my foot from the accelerator and move it to the de-accelerator.  Now!  So I don’t run into the tail end of James Bond.

The mind loves to take what might appear to be random chaos, and attach meaning.  Stars in the night sky, for instance.  Constellations.  To early astronomers, and to us, these are not just scattered blinking lights, these are mythological creatures with names and personalities, codified and recognized, parading across the sky.

I was in in Oregon giving a hypnosis talk a few weeks ago, and I saw my cousin Eddie’s face in the hotel bathroom wallpaper.  He was THERE, I tell you.  His exact profile.  His mouth, his nose, which is absolutely distinctive and recognizable!  Right next to the white rabbit.  Random shapes become patterns, with meaning.  We don’t struggle to make these associations happen, they just do!

I invite you to read these sentences:

” Aoccdrnig to rscheearch at Cmabrigde uinervtisy, it deosn’t mttaer waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteres are at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a tatol mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm.”

Your mind is effortlessly unscrambling the scramble.  🙂  Because our unconscious minds make sense out of non-sense.  And that’s a good thing!  And a useful thing.

When it comes to problem solving, it’s massively useful.  When we’re feeling stuck/trapped/locked into a box of limited options (none of which may be appealing), our conscious mind is not much help.  It scours the box.  The solution to the problem is not there, in the conscious box.  It’s out there.  Somewhere else.  When we tap into the unconscious part of our mind, we are looking in a far, far, far broader spectrum, outside that box.  Somewhere else.  Everywhere else.  At everything.   And answers (meaning) are there in the larger jumble.  Our unconscious minds can and do find it.  And this changes everything and dissolves the box.

That’s what hypnosis is about, and how it is useful.  It’s a doorway into tapping into the massive pattern recognition and problem solving abilities of the unconscious mind.

In the news recently, a lady on the television game show “Wheel of Fortune” solved a 27 letter puzzle with only one letter showing, and 26 letters hidden.  Her mind, her unconscious mind, took the information available (how many words in the puzzle phrase and how many letters per word and another letter she knew was NOT there) and scoured the universe for meaning.  What English common phrase fits that criteria?  And, she found it!  Instantly, it seemed!  “I’ve got a good feeling about this.”  Her unconscious mind fed it to her conscious mind.  To those of you who viewed the footage of this amazing problem-solving feat, it did seem miraculous, did it not?  It wasn’t a miracle, it was simply her mind being good at what we all do.  Make sense and attach meaning.  In this case it was useful–she won a $6,000 trip to the Caribbean.

Not just this lady, I think we all should give a great big “THANK YOU, UNCONSCIOUS MIND!” shout out to our unconscious minds.  They keep us alive and thriving, and do solve life’s dilemmas when we get our conscious, linear thinking out of the way long enough for the useful and helpful patterns to reveal themselves.

Warm Regards,

Connie
