What is Hypnosis?

Your unconscious mind is pure positive energy.

24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a Week — Connie Brannan, CHt.

Hi, Hypnosis Curious!

There’s lots of misunderstandings about hypnosis and hypnotherapy floating around in the world, to the point that different arts use the tool but call it something else.  “Guided Meditation.”  “Visualization.”  “Dream Sculpting.”  and so on.  People fear the name Hypnosis, thinking it’s something dark and weird. Nope!  So wrong.

Here’s what it is:  It’s an effective tool to actuate the best of us.  The best in us.  How?  By communicating with the unconscious mind, where our power lies.  And it’s an amazing, wonderful connection.  Here’s what I say!

“Your unconscious mind is pure, positive energy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It will do  anything for you, be creative, solve anything, find new choices, actuate healing, make success of all varieties. NLP and hypnosis are simply methodologies for inserting precise and clear  instructions into the unconscious mind for these goals.” — Connie Brannan, CHt., Licensed Trainer of NLP ®

And believe me, now is a time when bringing out our best really matters.  The world is in transition (some of us would say going to h-e-double-toothpicks in a handcart).  We need the best in ourselves.  And it’s there and accessible via hypnosis!  And NLP, even more so.  NLP is a super accelerated hypnosis.

As always, the proof is in the pudding, successes and goals realized through skilled hypnosis, like the 200+ success stories on my website.  Find out more anytime.  I offer private sessions and one on one customized services utilizing the art of hypnosis and NLP.

What is Hypnosis?

Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP Offers Private Hypnotherapy Sessions in Bellevue, WA.

Discover the Power of Mind!

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

This work is so “old hat” to me that I sometimes forget it’s a new adventure for a lot of people.  And they may not be sure what it is, confused by media misrepresentations of hypnosis.  So, once again, I’d like to explain this cool, accelerated learning state.

So much info is on my Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP website proper, and especially, on my frequently asked questions page.  Here’s another iteration of what I know to be true about this beautiful, powerful thing called hypnosis. Hypnosis is my passion, it’s the most wonderful thing I’ve encountered in my life!

What is hypnosis?  It’s a very pleasant and relaxing experience, it’s a calm and a centered kind of clarity of mind. You’re not asleep and you’re not zonked out, you’re in full control. You’re aware. It’s a kind of hyper awareness, which is inner focused.

What happens in hypnotherapy is that a person connects to their creative mind, their problem-solving mind, their intuitive mind and through creative language, stories, imagery, ideas, and “suggestions,” we direct that mind to desired goals and to create new internal strategies. I believe that people are massively powerful and resourceful in hypnosis. It is very much an accelerated learning state.

Hypnosis is an everyday naturally occurring thing, we slip in and out of this state all the time. My mother was an artist. While she’d be painting at her easel, THAT’s hypnosis. Reading a book, losing yourself in thought, that’s hypnosis. Daydreaming. Going to a movie! Filmmakers are master hypnotists! The experience of being in a movie theater and
caught up in a story (forgetting momentarily about the crunching of popcorn sounds around you and the sticky floors), THAT’s hypnosis.

It’s a narrowing of focus, it’s a suspension of disbelief. In hypnosis, we let the conscious, analytical, critical mind take a mini vacation, and that opens up a doorway to communication with the deeper (more powerful) part of our mind.  The part of us that runs the habits and patterns of behavior and responses.

My clients come out of hypnosis and they say: “Wow! That was amazing.”  Yes, it is.

Learn more anytime on my website.  I have many videos where I talk about “What is hypnosis?” as well.  If you’re interested in private hypnotherapy sessions, I also offer a free in person consultation where I explain much more.  I invite you to take advantage of that!

Why Limiting Beliefs Belong in the Trash Heap

Don't let limiting beliefs imprison your mind.

Don’t let limiting beliefs imprison your mind.

Hi, Hypnosis & NLP Friends!

People often come in to my office for very specific habit and behavioral changes.  “I want to quit smoking!”  “I want to stay away from the sugar!”  And so on.  We can do that. However, in the course of doing that, we do more.  We change larger mind sets and ways of thinking about self and the world by removing limiting beliefs.

What is a limiting belief?  It’s an idea/feeling about self and the world that gets lodged in the brain that limits a person.  It limits their full expression and enjoyment of life.  Examples:  “I’m not good enough.”  “I can’t do it.”  “I’m not worthy.”  “No one could love me.”  “I’m a victim in the world.”  These are not truths about anyone.  These are ideas, that can and should change.

Here’s an analogy.  Imagine getting a rock caught in your shoe.  It makes walking difficult. It hurts!  You COULD continue to walk with it in there, and suffer more.  But why? Why not take your shoe off for a moment, and shake it out!  Put your shoe back on and life is immediately more comfortable.  Suddenly you can go places, and it’s easy.

A person’s limiting beliefs are probably the most nasty, destructive things I encounter in my NLP and hypnotherapy help work.  They negatively impact every aspect of a person’s life, personal and business relationships, financial success, health, learning, and so on! This is precisely why I love helping a person to remove them so much. Limiting beliefs are garbage, and they belong in the trash heap!  That’s an essential part of the work we do–put them there.

We can remove a lifetime of limiting beliefs in a session or two of Neuro Linguistic Hypnotherapy.  Amazing, but true.  These changes are the REAL changes, the power changes.  The behaviorial changes (I lost weight or I quit smoking) are really a lesser deal. They are simply a byproduct of new empowered beliefs.

When you’re ready for change, call me.  In my extensive Q&A with clients, I discover any limiting beliefs–and in the course of our work we get rid of them.  It’s trash day!
