Connie Brannan, Licensed Trainer of NLP (tm), Seattle's best hypnotherapist“We know the power of hypnosis for positive changes!  We live it, we love it,” says Connie Brannan, CHt, who is a Neuro Linguistic Hypnotherapist & Licensed Trainer of NLP ®, and the mind behind Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP.  “Hypnosis is an art form, each hypnotist has a different protocol, level of professionalism, skill set, creativity, and even sense of ethics.  Michael and I are members of the National Guild of Hypnotists, the world’s largest professional organization for hypnotherapists, and we have a written code of ethics. We are absolutely client centered.  We respect the individuality of our clients and offer a customized experience in a professional and safe environment for the work.”

Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2017 Bellevue Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the Bellevue Award Program and data provided by third parties.

Office Photos – Through the Prismatic Eye

Hypnosis trance chair Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP

The Trance Chair

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

The difference between a hobby-ist hypnotist and professional is many fold.  One difference is the commitment to offering a safe, private environment to do the work.  A private office.  Not a “shared by-the-hour, I’m-not-good-enough-to-afford-my-own-space, fly-by-night” office, a real office.

Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP has a charming office, filled with light and warmth and and color and beautiful pieces of artwork.

When I was first starting out in this work 10 years ago, one hypnotist advised me to have a sterile white room with no distractions as my hypnotism space.  Another said:  No, find a space that makes YOU feel good.  Comfortable, happy.  I chose the latter.  My space brings me joy every time I enter it.  And from a platform of joy, I know I do my best work.

Another hypnotist said to me: don’t spend money on nice furniture, buy something cheap and then throw a blanket over it.  I rejected that idea instantly.  No, I bought lovely quality things that offer a professional appearance as well as comfort–especially what I call “the trance chair, ” a leather recliner that I love, and my clients love.

I’m happy to share some colorful photos of my office, taken today.  These are not ordinary photos, these have been “enhanced” with a prismatic eye.

View out the window. LOVE.

The Altar to Happy.

Dream. Imagine. Relax.

Hypnosis Books. Never stop learning.

Dedicated to Excellence Wall

Connie, ready to rock and roll and help you make success.

My space is even prettier in person. It’s smack dab in the heart of the Bellefield Office Park, a greenbelt area of canals, bridges, walking paths, and buildings tucked into the trees.  They call it a “woodsy walkup.”  Very.

I’m proud of my office.  I’d be happy to share the magic generated in this space anytime.

Hypnosis: The Power of Imagination

Mindworks Hypnosis for your life success.Hi, Greater Seattle Hypnosis friends!

Hypnosis is a way to tap into that creative problem solving imagination that we all have.

Henry Ford, the automaker, said something I know is true:  “If you think you can, or you think you can’t…you’re right!”  Yes!  Change happens in the mind before it can happen in the world, your habits, your body, your success.  There’s another expression I like, “keep your eyes on the prize.”  You have to know where you want to go in order to get there.

People come into my Bellevue hypnosis clinic and as part of our work, we engage in a one on one live question and answer period where we find and clarify desired goals.  And figure out how we will measure change.  And develop a clear vision of what success looks like, feels like, sounds like, and would afford to a person’s whole lifestyle.  This is super important, and happens before we even begin the formal hypnosis and Neuro Linguistic Processing change work.

In my office we imagine success.  Successfully.  We dream big!  And thus, pave the way to create it.  Albert would be proud.

Find out more anytime about this amazing thing called hypnosis.  I do offer a free consult about how your mind works and how I work and what your mind is capable of creating.  It’s more power than your currently enjoy.

Self Hypnosis for Healthy Eating and Weight Loss @ Bellevue College

Lose weight with Seattle's most effective hypnotherapy & NLPHi, Hypnosis Friends and Enthusiasts!

We have an expression in the “biz.”  “All hypnosis is self hypnosis.”  This is true.  It’s a learning state of mind we put ourselves into.  It happens naturally all the time.  And it can happen by design.  That’s our traditional understanding of the words “self hypnosis.”

And there can be triggers for INSTANT hypnosis, like flipping a light switch, from awake to hypnosis.  That’s what I install for students at Bellevue College who take my Self Hypnosis for Healthy Eating and Weight Loss course.  It starts tomorrow, June 1st.

Who wants in?  This is an amazing tool.

It’s like the old expression:  “Give a man a fish and he has dinner tonight.  Teach him HOW to fish, and he has an endless supply of dinners.” Self hypnosis is fishing for personal development!

Join me in this marvelous adventure.  I invite you.  It’s two evenings wherein we stuff your mind full of new understandings of what is hypnosis, how does the mind work, how do we create change in ourselves, some language of influence, and this instant trigger for trance is installed. You learn to DO self hypnosis.  You learn and you play.  It’s experiential. Hypnosis happens.

Fun, fun, fun.  That’s my opinion and I’m sticking with it.

Experience Hypnosis – Bellevue College Event 10-21-15

Seattle Hypnotherapy & NLP BellevueHi, Hypnosis Friends and Enthusiasts!

Here is an opportunity to get hypnotized and experience that state of being which is calm, quiet, clear-minded, and creative.  Here’s a chance to see something useful change in your life.  It’s my A Chance to Trance one evening experiential class at Bellevue College on 10/21/15 at 7:00 pm:

Hypnosis is an experience I believe everyone in the universe should enjoy as a means to goal achievement.  Not only do I teach hypnosis and use it in my business Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP, I use it myself.  And do you know what, it works!

People who have heard about hypnosis think it’s limited in it’s uses.  FALSE.  It can help achieve the proper mindset and body cooperation for any goal.  Here’s a personal example:

I had oral surgery yesterday.  It was supposedly “a big deal,” with pain killers prescribed and a million rules and do’s and don’t do’s for “post op.”  I used self hypnosis for accelerated, perfect healing, and do you know what?  Today I feel fine.  It took one ibuprofen after the surgery, that’s it.  No pain.  No swelling.  The surgeon was recommending sedation medication for the surgery itself (and told me that was typical for his patients).  I said, no thank you.  And I didn’t need it.  I used self hypnosis to remain calm, and relaxed throughout.

Our minds are more powerful than we use.  If you’re ready to learn more about hypnosis and experience that state for yourself, then my event next week is for you.  It’s moocho inexpensive.  You can sign up through Bellevue College at the link above.   Hope to see you there!

Hypnotherapy NLP Office

Hi, Seattle Hypnosis Friends!

One of the (ridiculous) myths of hypnosis is that it’s something dark and scary and otherwordly. Hollywood movies conjure up frightening images of hypnosis done by strange men wearing dracula capes in dim, shrouded basements.  Accompanied by the sounds of maniacal laugher.  “I control their minds!!  I control their minds!!”

Uh, no!  That’s not what it is.

The reality?  Hypnosis is a type of super-accelerated effective communication.  Ideas are shared with the problem-solving part of the mind, and it gets to work creating change. It’s comfortable, it’s fun, it’s pleasant.  And professionals do it in professional spaces.

I’ve created a brief video below to share my Bellevue office space with you.  I LOVE my office, it reflects how I approach this work.  The key word is “professionalism.”  Take a peek:

Some part-time hobbyist “hypnotists” in the Seattle area don’t think an office is necessary. They do sessions over the telephone, while they’re sitting in their bedroom painting their toenails.  Here’s what I say about phone “sessions” on my FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions about Hypnosis) page:

“Hypnosis and NLP work is most effective face-to-face, which is why we don’t recommend  internet or phone sessions.  We don’t go for “watered down.”  We want your success!  Our work is interactive communications, and very hands on.  Verbal (sound) alone is a tiny, tiny bit of information being conveyed, we use the full spectrum of communications information, using ALL the senses, going in both directions.  Some of our favorite and most effective NLP techniques involve touch.  You can’t do touch over the phone.  Hypnosis deepening techniques also involve touch.”

Effectiveness!  Super important.  Professionalism.  It’s also super important.  We’re talking about your mind and your life and your goals being met.  You want someone fully committed to this work and your success. A hypnotherapist who maintains a private, professional office space is a positive indicator that you’ve found someone who is serious about the work. Hypnosis (and that includes NLP) is my full-time career, my passion, not just something I’m  doing “on the side” for a few bucks, like others in the Seattle area. Those people are hobbyists.  Not real hypnotists.  Not professionals.

When I was shopping for office spaces in the Seattle area, I was shocked at how many spaces were drab and dreary and noisy.  Shared spaces.  Closed-in rooms, with no light and no positive energy.  Not acceptable!  I chose a totally private office in Bellevue, it’s a positive energy space, in a beautiful, green park-like setting, close to the city and freeways and yet has a serene feel of “a world away.”  And I’ve filled my space with life and color and many, many pieces of fine art.  This is a space where I do “my art.”  That’s hypnosis and NLP and more.

Come see the hypnosis office in Bellevue for yourself.  We do offer free private in person consultations.  Like anything, it’s more beautiful in person.

Nichole L, of Bellevue, WA, says:  “I haven’t had a donut in weeks, which is a MIRACLE!!”

Discover the ease and grace of weight loss through Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy. Skilled hypnotherapy is great, skilled NLP is “hypnosis on steroids.”  Yes, indeed!  What’s cool about these tools is that new habits become automatic, so it’s not a struggle–you’re going with the flow, and the flow is healthy.  For dozens upon dozens more of my client success stories with weight management, read HERE!

It’s Time! Hypnosis for your New Year’s Resolutions!

Seattle's Best Hypnotherapy at Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP

Time for Skilled Hypnosis & NLP!

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

Did you see the New Year’s fireworks celebration at the Seattle Space Needle?  I did!  It’s officially here, happy 2015!

“It’s time!”

Those are action activating words for me, and I hope for you as well. It’s time.

It’s the first week of January.  Time for assessing the new year ahead and taking stock of healthy goals. It’s time to lose that extra weight you’ve been carrying around.  It’s time to stop buying and smoking those ridiculously expensive and unhealthy cigarettes.

It’s time to dump the fear that’s been holding you back from truly experiencing and enjoying life and connecting with others:  fear of public speaking, fear of flying, fear of rejection…(you fill in the blank).  Fear is often unnecessary, and we can communicate that fact to the mind, on unconscious levels, and choose something different.

People tend to work those New Year’s Resolutions for a a day or two, a week or two, then give up.  You don’t have to go it alone when there is skilled help available.

I love what I do.  I help activate people’s desires and make them real.  My work (hypnosis and NLP Neuro-Linguistic Programming® ) is a joy-maker and a success-maker.  This time of year, people are very in touch with those desires–we call them New Year’s Resolutions.  Let’s make them real.  Call me and I’ll set up a free in person consultation in my office in Bellevue to explain the work I do and how your dreams CAN become reality.  (425) 564-8608.

Neuro-Linguistic Hypnotherapy is more powerful than “traditional” hypnotherapy alone. NLP is a conversational hypnosis that speaks directly to the mind beyond conscious thought, using the currency of life experience:  sights, sounds, smells, taste, emotion, and it’s an amazing success accelerant.  NLP is my prime work tool, as I am and Michael is also, a Licensed Trainer of NLP ® through the originator of NLP. There are only a few dozen of us at that skill & certification level working and teaching NLP in the United States.

Tick.  Tick.  Tick.  Time is moving.  And life is happening.  If you want yours to be different in positive ways that you have resolved, the time is now.

All the Best,

Hypnosis for Brain Power

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

I hope your holiday season is off to a smashing start.  More fun to continue…

I was musing this morning on the nature of change.  Change is what I sell.  Change is good. Change is choice.

There are really two kinds of change.   Fixing a problem type of change, quit smoking, lose weight, etc.  And that’s a great thing to accomplish!  However, there’s another kind of change, and that’s taking what is already good and making it better.  That’s called “generative change.”

I love helping people get their creativity and imaginations soaring.  Artists, musicians, athletes, writers, stock traders, people seeking a new career path.  🙂  People who are already doing well, but want more.  More power, more strength, more creativity, more “go for it.”  Marcela Kenevan of Gig Harbor, WA was one of my recent clients and she reports this type of change:

“I feel incredible. Woke up today brimming with creative inspiration.”  –Marcela Kenevan

Yay, Marcela!  You go, girl!

I’ve had an ongoing debate with several people for several years about what is more valuable to life success:  knowledge vs. creativity.  I vote for creativity.  So did Albert Einstein.  He said:

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”

If you need a boost of creative juice flow for any endeavor in life, think about hypnosis for that jump start.  It works!

All the Best,

Happy 5th Anniversary to “The Hypnotizer” Blog.

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

It’s a landmark.  🙂  Five years!!  It’s been five years this month that I’ve been sharing my thoughts, insights, and passion for hypnosis and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and the power of the mind here on this blog.  I’ve shared articles I’ve written, stories, client successes, videos I’ve created, event notices, musings, and more.  All original content. My thoughts, my voice, my stories.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading, watching, learning, and thinking about the things that I have shared here.  I love what I do, and I love when someone realizes “yes, I can” and creates a better life.  Empowerment, that’s hypnosis.  Thanks for joining me on this ride into the power of personal change! If you’re new to my blog, I invite you to check out the full archive!  It’s located on the upper right column, midway down.  “Archives.”  Five years worth of reading pleasure.

To celebrate this landmark, I’ll be pulling out some vintage articles and stories from my blog that I’ve written and share them again.  Here’s one of my earliest posts from October 2009.

It’s cold and flu season (but not for me!)

Hi, guys! Who watches television? (Raising my own hand, but only half way.) 🙂 I hardly watch at all any more, because the quality of “what’s on” is going down, down, down, and my time for leisure is going down as well. That’s a good thing, but that’s also another topic. This one is:

Dramatic pause. Negative suggestions.

Watching TV this past week, I can’t help but notice the BOMBARDMENT of ads right now, commercials for cold & flu medicines and paraphernalia. Here’s the message: “It’s cold and flu season.” and that means “You’re going to get sick., you can expect to get sick.” I also notice that the stores are stocking the aisles with cold and flu medicines and products–prominent and in-your-face, on the end caps and special displays, with alarming banners warning that cold and flu season is here! Same message: “It’s time for you to get sick now! You’re going to get sick now.” It’s not a warning, per se, it’s a directive! It’s a negative suggestion. And our minds seem quite willing to embrace it without question!

Michael has a story he likes. He was in a work training with a woman. She told this story: She knew that every year she would have one bout of illness per cold and flu season, one only. The reason she’d only have one was because she’d prepare for it, and take massive doses of vitamins. She knew that she’d only get sick once! Her vitamins would protect her from further illness! And yes, it did transpire that she’d only get sick once per winter/season. BUT…one winter she got so busy and forgot to prepare with her vitamins, didn’t think about it at all. Guess what? She didn’t get sick that winter. Not once. Not at all. She forgot to get sick!!

Here’s a personal story about my personal experiences. This is NOT medical advice, because…I’m not medical. I’m a hypnotist. And here’s one positive side effect I enjoy from my hypnosis. Your mileage may vary.

I don’t get sick, either. Ever. Because I’ve decided not to. I USED to get sick, just like everyone else. Two major colds a year. At LEAST two. Until I discovered hypnosis and how the mind processes ideas and suggestions. Three years, (as of this writing, October 2009) and I haven’t been sick. Not a sniffle. I did have food poisoning for one day (some bad shrimp on a Vegas buffet), but it ended quite quickly. I don’t get sick because my unconscious mind rejects the idea, and does what it needs to do to make sure I stay well–strengthening my immune system, or whatever it wants to do. I can happily trust my unconscious to keep me well, and ignore those nitty gritty details as well. I don’t care how. I just know it’s in place. Wellness. I can hang around sick people, avoid hand sanitizer, ignore those commercials and product displays, no flu shot for me, and stay well. Three years and counting…

Hypnosis is incredibly powerful. And our understanding is just a miniscule slice of that giant cake. There’s so much more to know and learn. The unconscious mind knows how to keep us healthy. I talk to the mind in ways it likes, to do just that!

What do you suppose would happen if you decided to stay well this winter?

Warm Regards,

Hypnosis Works for a New Mind Set for Weight Loss and Healthy Living

Hypnosis works for weight loss, Seattle

Right on!

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

What’s your weight loss goal? Is it a number on a scale, or is it an improved way of being, a new mindset, a new healthy outlook, a new energy? This reminder on the scale was created by a brilliant young mind, age 13. And, as I know to be true, feeling better about yourself leads to the numbers on the scale going down, down, down.

Here’s the message, which I think is massively inspirational and should be taken to heart.

“It’s just a number…REALLY.

This number on this scale will NOT tell you:

* What a great person you are
* how many people love you and how much
* That you are kind, smart, funny, and amazing in ways numbers cannot define
* That you have power to choose happiness.
* Your own self-worth
* how beautiful you are

You are more than a number.”

When you’re ready for a healthy change, hypnotherapy helps.  I did hypnotize this little girl for healthy eating awhile ago.  She’s in the right mindset for success.  You can join her there anytime.

Seattle Client Success: NLP and Hypnosis End Anxiety

Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP for your end to anxiety.

Goodbye, Anxiety. Skilled hypnotherapy works.

Hi, Hypnosis Friends!

Here is another happy camper in the Seattle area testifying for Mindworks Hypnosis’ Neuro Linguistic Programming and hypnotherapy services.  Shelly F. came in with “severe anxiety.”  She reports after two sessions:  “I have absolutely no anxiety now!” Could this be possible?  YES!  Her comments:

“I came in a couple weeks ago with severe anxiety, and (after two sessions)… I am HAPPY!  And I am in love with Connie because she has made my life change for the better so much.  I have absolutely no anxiety now, and I’m excited to start working on some of the other things I have to fix. I would recommend her highly to anybody who is looking to feel better and live a better life.”  Shelly F., Seattle, WA

Is it magic?  Or is it the power of your mind, unleashed?  I opt for the latter.  You have more brain power to make changes than you currently use.  I’m happy to help you use your mind for healthy and happy changes.

More Photos of our Mindworks Hypnosis Office in Bellevue

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

Some people are scared, they think hypnosis is dark and mysterious, when really, it is super relaxing and pleasant and even, “wow!”  I posted some photos the other day of my hypnotherapy office in Bellevue, so people can see the setting where this empowerment happens, and perhaps get a better feel for what it really is.

It seems synchronous that leaving the supermarket the other day, the checkout machine generated a coupon for me for a free photo book from Shutterfly.  So, I made a book with more info and pictures about Mindworks Hypnosis.

Here’s the result, captured as video.  This is my work space.  I have included pictures of the grounds of the Bellefield Office Park, where my office is located, which I think is amazingly beautiful.

Thanks for visiting my office, in this virtual photographic realm. The real thing is available anytime.  Call for a free consultation and I’m happy to explain more about what I do.

Happy May!

Mindworks Hypnosis has an A+ Rating with the Better Business Bureau

Better Business Bureau Accredited BusinessHi, Hypno-Friends!

Mindworks Hypnosis & NLP is an Accredited Business with the Better Business Bureau of Washington State. I’m happy to announce that they’ve raised our rating from an A to an A+. That’s as good as it gets! Our accreditation is your assurance of professionalism and ethical business practices. You can read about us on the BBB website.

Let’s face it. This industry does tend to attract some fly-by-night, unskilled and less than reputable people. They’re out to make a buck, as opposed to our focus, which is to make a difference and help people to live more successful, joy-filled lives. Beyond the fact of no complaints, our Better Business Bureau A+ also indicates longevity and stability in the marketplace. 🙂

Whether or not a hypnotherapist is an Accredited Business is another piece of information that is appropriate to consider when looking for services.  When I was a kid in school, I always loved getting an A+.  I still do.  🙂

Happy International Day of Happiness – From Mindworks Hypnosis

The UN declares, and of course I agree:  “The pursuit of happiness is a fundamental human goal.”  Yesterday, the world celebrated happy, with the 2014 International Day of Happiness.  If you want to hear some uber-catchy happy music and see some happy faces and bodies dancing to it, look on Youtube.com under the search term hashtag happy, #HAPPY.

Here’s one:

I think we should do more of that.  🙂  I think happiness is too big to contain within a single calendar day, and should be welcomed and celebrated and lived every day.  What kind of a world would it be if people were HAPPY every day?  A different world, a better world.  Because…

In the words of my favorite teacher, Dr. Richard Bandler:  “Good feelings, good decisions.  Bad feelings, bad decisions.”  My work is all about good feelings, and making them unconsciously automated.  That’s hypnosis and NLP.  When you feel good, you think differently, and you act differently in ways that are useful.

Shape of Success – Hypnosis is Empowerment

Hypnosis is Empowerment

Hypnosis is Empowerment.

What if your life were like a hunk of modeling clay and you had the power to grab it and form it and shape it to match your desires? Wouldn’t that be cool?

Well…It is cool, and it is also truth! The power of your mind is what hypnosis is all about. With hypnosis, you tap into your subconscious mind, your creative mind, the part of you that turns ideas into reality.

Let’s do it!

Imagination is key.  A sculptor looks at a block of stone and sees something alive within it.  And he releases that vision.  The unimaginative might look at that same block of stone, and say:  “There’s nothing there.  It’s just a block of stone.”  No potential to be anything else.  And they (the unimaginative) would be wrong.  Hypnosis unlocks the sculptor in you.

If you’re ready to understand the control and choices you have in your life, call us! (425) 564-8608. Hypnosis is empowerment to stop smoking, lose weight, end fear, and more.  Create the shape of success for yourself.

Warm Regards,

Are You a Couch Potato?

Are you a couch potato?

Hypnosis to get motivated and get moving!

Are you a couch potato?  If so, you can choose something different for yourself anytime you want to.  Try on some motivation to exercise!  Try on some healthy changes in your eating habits.  Try on getting fit!!  What would it be like if you felt a joy AND a motivation to exercise?

It’s doable.  Michael and I can help!  We’ve been awarded “Best of Bellevue 2013” (following similar awards for 2011 and 2012) for Weight Loss and Control Program.  There’s a reason for this.  Scores of reasons, and you can see them here— Seattle area people who have used our services and been successful with weight loss.

Here’s our fun couch potato video.  Check it out!  🙂

When you’re ready to discover a new level of fitness and health for yourself, call us.  We’re happy to offer you a free in office meeting to explain what hypnosis really is, and what NLP is and how well they work.

“20+ Years of Severe Depression” Ended with Hypnosis – Seattle Client Testimonial

Find Your Power

Find Your Power - Hypnosis is a tool to do just that!

I often get asked about hypnosis.  Is it real?  Does it generate change?  Do the changes last?  Yes, yes, and yes.  🙂  When a client  successfully updates a program in their mind, it stays updated.  I got a wonderful testimonial of ongoing success from Karel Creason, of Bellevue, WA, about a year after our work.

“Connie Brannan has helped me change the way I think about myself and my life.  I saw her primarily for help with weight loss, but I ended up realizing many other positive changes at the same time. I was surprised and so pleased with the lasting results of my sessions: ability to concentrate on the way I wanted to eat, improvement in my personal relationships, and a completely rejuvenated interest in life.

After 20+ years of severe depression, I was amazed to find that I was free of it after just a single session.  I am so grateful that I had the good sense to see Connie, and I recommend her services to anyone who wants similar improvements in their life.”  — Karel Creason, Bellevue, WA.

In general, people have no clue about the power of their own minds to effect positive changes.  Hypnosis is a tool to unlock that power.  It’s not mind control, (as some erroneously believe) it’s empowerment.  Karel created these changes in herself.  Good job!

When you focus your mind on a goal or goals using the tools of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and hypnotherapy, your mind creates the pathway to those goals, the strategies, new thinking, new behaviors, and forward movement required.  Massive success and change is possible, as this client success story attests.

I think I’m in love with hypnosis.  And when the uninformed dismiss it, it’s very, very, very sad.

Warm Regards,

The USCA “Best of Local Business” Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout  the country. Each year, the USCA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional success in their local community and business category.  These are local companies which enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.

Co-owner of Mindworks Hypnosis, Connie Brannan, CHt, & Licensed Trainer of NLP says: “We love what we do! Michael and I have been entrancing and enhancing lives for 7 years now with a unique blend of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and formal clinical hypnosis. We help in the realm of weight loss and beyond, with all manner of
positive changes from smoking cessation to stress release to sports enhancement.”

Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2013 USCA Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USCA and data provided by third parties.

The USCA was established to recognize the best of local businesses in their community.  Their organization works exclusively with local business owners, trade groups, professional associations, chambers of commerce and other business advertising and marketing groups. Their mission is to be an advocate for small and medium size businesses and business entrepreneurs across America.

Positive Transformations With Neuro Linguistic Hypnotherapy

Life is Good!

It’s February!  Yay!  And I’m of a musing mind.  Here’s a story:

Another client reports to me that she has said “adios” to her years upon years long counselor after working with me a few sessions. Now, I’m not saying that talk therapist counselors are inept, wrong-minded and wrap people deeper and deeper into their problems, with an endless quest for “why,”…obviously my client is feeling so much more empowered and happy in her life that she simply doesn’t feel the need to go sit and whine about problems anymore. She agreed with my plan: get rid of them instead!

Everything about this girl has changed, and it’s so beautiful to see. She came in hiding under a hood, so filled with anxiety and fear and paranoia in her life, face twitching and chewing her lip, insomnia, jealousy … She looks different now, her hair, her makeup, her clothes, her posture, her tonality (confident!!), her face is smooth and beautiful, she smiles, she reports that she is sleeping “better than she ever has,” she’s glowing, says this has impacted her kids, they’re laughing and smiling and enjoying life more, too. That’s what a little creative NLP/hypnosis will do for you. It’s been less than a month since I began working with her.

I often notice that the people with the quote unquote “biggest problems” are the ones to have the easiest, most dramatic transformation. They’ve hypnotized themselves into having problems, and we re-direct all that creative power in a new direction, one that feels better and leads to achieving their goals instead. I love what I do!!!!!!!!!!!!

A new client was paying me yesterday and made a semi-snarky comment about how getting the money must be my favorite part. No way. You’re mistaking me for some other Seattle area hypnotist(s). The above description of a positive transformation is my favorite part. That’s why I do this.

Warm Regards,

Stop Hiding the Hypnosis!

Hiding the truth about hypnosis!

Hi, Hypnosis Friends and Enthusiasts!

Hypnosis is a larger field of study and practice than what is generally known.  It’s being used all over the place, and not by “hypnotists.”  There’s more to it, than the world commonly acknowledges.  You know why that is?  People hide the fact that what they’re teaching and doing IS hypnosis.

The word hypnosis has a negative, perjorative, fear-infused connotation in some people’s minds.  Unfortunate, and absolutely ridiculous!  And that generates fear, and hiding on the part of hypnosis sellers.  There are teachers and change workers creating fancy new words and titles and acronyms for the work they are doing.  Hey, buddy ….pssst.  Some of us do know.  It’s all hypnosis.

I attended a training last year on enhanced reading and rapid absorption of information that was absolutely, 100% hypnosis.  They never used the word, in their literature, in their marketing, or in the course itself.  They called it something else, which they had created to hide the fact that it is hypnosis.  They even hawked self-hypnosis CDs which they also called something else.  I asked the instructor:  “Why don’t you call this what it really is?”  He never responded.

I don’t hide my hypnosis.  I am PROUD to be a hypnotist.  I’d rather change the misconceptions in the world rather than try to camoflauge what I do.

What is hypnosis?  It’s communication on deeper levels within our own brain, it’s a doorway to resourcefulness.  To creativity.  To power.  It’s 100% organic and natural, it’s amazing, and lovely, and pure positive goodness.

I wish these practitioners of hypnosis who sell it as something else just in order to get more students and to make more money would stop that.  You’re helping to keep the ridiculous myths alive.  How will the understanding of hypnosis in the world change for the better if you continue to hide it’s power and success?

Stop hiding the hypnosis!

Warm Regards,
Connie (Hypnotist, and proud of that!)

Problems: A Vanishing Act

Find your confidence with hypnosis & NLP.

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

Here is another story.  🙂  A client came in to enhance her business success.  Her problem?  A feeling of not being “good enough” or “smart enough” — in a nutshell, a lack of confidence.   She found herself feeling anxious and unable to speak up during business meetings–even when she had valuable things to say.

I found out what she wanted instead.  We began the work.  Suddenly, she burst out angrily at me:

“Why are you laughing?  You’re trivializing my problem.”

I answered her:  “That’s right.  I am.  And so will you.  It IS trivial.  Ridiculous, in fact.”

That’s what we want to create!  A “problem” so small and trivial that you can’t even see it or experience it.  When she feels more confident and “good enough,” in fact, there is no problem.  It dissolves.

What she didn’t yet realize is that the work was already unfolding and being successful…we were working on confidence building.  The presenting problem:  she was unable to speak her mind.  Yet, suddenly, here she was speaking her mind, to me.  Loud and clear.   Yay!

I’m remembering an episode of Star Trek.  (I LOVED that show.)  In it there was an alien creature which fed on negative emotion.  The more angry and violent negative emotions it could generate in the people around it, the stronger it got.  When Kirk & Spock et. al. started laughing (with the help of Dr. McCoy and his “laughing gas”) well the monster weakened and decided to leave.

Here’s what clients begin to understand via my work with them:  A problem is not REAL.  It is conjured in the mind and body.  It is merely a frame of mind, a way of thinking.   And that is very, very subject to change.  A problem can be reframed  to the point it is un-conjured.  That’s what we do in my office.

When the woman left, she commented that her breathing felt easier.  We tested her new responses.  She thought the previously “anxious-making” thoughts, and anxiety was a no-show.  Her body language had changed, as well.  She was speaking louder and sitting taller.  Her eye contact was more direct.  I notice these things.  Confidence seeds sprouting all over.    I guess it really was a trivial non-problem after all, wasn’t it?

Warm Regards,

It’s Your Power – Hypnosis!

There was an ice cream parlor of my childhood.  It was called “Farrell’s.”  Their song, their jingle which I still remember: “Farrell’s is fabulous fun for everyone.”  Well, I’m borrowing that tune.  Hypnosis is fabulous fun for everyone!  Yes, it is!  🙂  It’s pleasant.  And it’s useful.  It’s a method to move you into your power.

All the positive changes that happen in hypnosis.  Quitting smoking, losing weight, ending fear, and etc.  That’s your power, not the hypnotist’s power.  I help you find your power and change your thinking, feeling, doing.  That changes everything!

When you find your power, that’s like moving from a cramped basement studio apartment into a palatial penthouse suite.  Or a mansion.  It’s bigger, and nicer.   More fun!  Go for it!

I received a nice email report from client, Tracy F. of Seattle.  We had a session of Neuro Linguistic Hypnotherapy to prepare her for an important job interview.  She had been having fear, and anxiety around it.  The email read:

Yay, Tracy.  🙂  She solidified her position as “best” by presenting herself well.

Hypnosis Works for Weight Loss!

Hypnotherapy makes happy.

I love to share happy client reports.  Here’s another.  Woman came in for weight management–in two weeks she’s lost 5 pounds.  She’s happy with that beginning.  But what she’s found to be true was something unexpected (to her) that I see all the time.  Positive changes roll like a snowball.  They intertwine and touch so many aspects of our lives.

She is focusing on healthy and feeling better about herself, and that is manifesting in a number of noticeable ways beyond food and exercise.  Her attitude on life has changed, which is improving her work, and improving her relationships.  Here’s what K.C. of Bellevue, Washington said to me yesterday:

“It’s an astonishing transformation!  I’m so happy!  I’m so grateful.”

Yes, hypnosis works for weight loss.  And so much more.

I sell professional services.  It’s not like a can of peas.  Well, they sell it at this store and they sell it at that store and it doesn’t matter where I buy it.  At this one place I’ll save 10 cents.  These are professional, personalized services, and the difference is the skill set, passion, intelligence, and creativity of the practitioner.  We hypnotists and hypnotherapists, we’re not all selling the same thing.  Not at all.

I’m selling success and transformation.  Ask K. C.  of Bellevue.  Or call me and I’ll be happy to tell you more about Neuro Linguistic Hypnotherapy:  (425) 564-8608.

Protection from The Power of Pie

Hello, Hypno-Friends!

How to you like the new look of my blog?  I wanted a new “Fall Into Change” banner, as I LOVE  this time of year and the colors of autumn leaves.   This is my time of year.

Pumpkin Pie Overdose?

I was reading an article about Thanksgiving, and about PIE in particular.  America’s love affair with pie.  Apple pie, pumpkin pie, rhubarb pie, you name it.  Blackberry pie.  The pie council conducted a survey about America’s pie habits, who likes what and how often.  I read a shocking and startling statement, right there in bold ink:

“1 in 5 Americans have eaten an entire pie by themselves.”

Wow.  Pie is homey, pie is celebration, but a whole pie???  Was it in one sitting, I wonder…  Wow.  Sounds like overindulgence.

If you’re one of the 20% of Americans with that kind of eating capacity and proclivity, and if you also have packed on any extra pounds by way of pie overdose…guess what?  Hypnosis can help.  I can help.  Hypnosis works!  My company is Mindworks Hypnosis and I’ll get you back on track to healthy eating faster than you can imagine.

If you’re worried about overindulging this Thanksgiving, think about this:  Hypnosis for weight loss and weight management.  It’s what I do.  It’s what I know.  It’s my own story as well, although I have never eaten a whole pie.  Check out the before and after picture of me!  This is how I know hypnosis works, I’ve used it.

Before and after hypnosis works for weight loss.

Hypnosis works for weight loss.

I was fond of those little individual Hostess pies–lemon in particular.  Haven’t had one in years, and that’s a good thing.

If you need pie protection in advance of November 24th, I can help!  Absolutely yes.  If you want to be satisfied with one piece, we can do that.  I you want none, we can do that.  If you want to be motivated to go exercise on Black Friday, we can do that.  Tell me what you want, and I’ll help you do it.

Have a happy and healthy Holiday!

It’s Time for Change!

Hi, Guys!

I found this pic today, and it’s so perfect. As a metaphor, and an idea. Yes, it’s now. And it’s now again. Wait. Wait for it…tick, tick, tick, tick…now it’s now again. Grab ahold of NOW. It’s time for change.

Smokey Robinson is one of my favorite singers and songwriters. He wrote a song I really like called “More Love.” (Good title, good idea.) Some of the lyric goes: “Let it be soon. Don’t hesitate. Make it now. Don’t wait. Open your heart and let my love come in, I want the moment to start when I can fill your heart with more love, and more joy than age or time could ever destroy….” Smokey knows what’s important.

This could be a hypnosis song. Let the joy come in is right. Joy attached to positive and long-lasting change. Hypnosis opens a life to joy and a myriad of other good feelings. Good stuff. Do it now.

Wishing you a joy-filled now.
Warm Regards,

Connie & Michael

The Fat Jowls of the Tobacco Executives Quiver in Dismay– They’ve Lost Another One.

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

I’d like to share another client success story with you.  N.B., of Bellevue, Washington is FREE from cigarettes.  Free from cravings.  Free from the disgusting, pocket-draining, health-hurting habit.  FREE!  And she’s delighted with that change, which she never dreamed possible.  Of course it is.  Was.  And always will be.  When there’s skilled hypnosis and NLP afoot to help.  Here’s what she says:

“I am so proud that I have not smoked all this time.  It’s amazing!  I can’t believe that I have done it!  I used to believe that I could not live without cigarettes.  Now I know I will never be a smoker again!  I’m so happy I met you, Connie.”

Yay, N.B.  On to a healthier, happier life!

Stage Hypnosis – That’s Entertainment!

How many of you have ever seen a stage hypnosis show?  Did you wonder (as I did my first time experiencing hypnosis, which happened to be while watching a hypnosis show at the Puyallup Fair):  “What IS this???”  It’s called “stage hypnosis.”  It’s a show, or demonstration, for entertainment purposes, of the power of the human mind.  It’s fun.  Laughs.  Humor.  Amusement.  Amazement.  Did you ask yourself (as I did):  “Is it REAL??”

Yes!  It’s real!  These participants in the hypnosis are actually experiencing new realities.   For example, these new realities may involve differences in sensation.  As a hypnotic subject in a stage show, you may feel hot while imagining a warm beach, even though the room may be perfectly comfortable temperature.  You may experience differences in reality, like speaking a foreign language you have never learned.  Even Martian!  Differences in other sense experiences of the world, an onion may taste like an apple.  Differences in your identity.  You may begin singing and dancing believing yourself to be Elvis Presley.  What IS this?  It’s a freedom of expression and inner creativity.  In some cases, simply a license to act goofy.  How is the hypnotist MAKING the people do that?  They’re not.  The participants want to–they are volunteers!  It’s NOT mind control.

What does this have to do with hypnotherapy—the application of hypnosis to achieve positive changes in behavior and feeling and thinking?  It’s the same power of the mind.  The same power of the mind to create new realities.  Only, the changes are desired and useful, not silly, and good hypnotherapists make them stick.  Hypnosis.  It’s a GOOD thing!

Michael and I were in Las Vegas this past weekend, and we went to a stage hypnosis show.  And we enjoyed it!  The ones in Vegas tend to be adult humor, the ones you might see at the fair are family-oriented humor.  We love stage hypnosis.  In fact, we’ve both been trained professionally in stage hypnosis, as well as our other trainings.  In fact, we’ve both performed stage hypnosis–birthday parties and the like.  An understanding of the mind is useful, and all new information gathered is useful.  Learning stage hypnosis has made me a better hypnotist, adding to my skill set.

Some people think stage hypnosis is “bad” or less valuable.  Nope!!  Not at all.  It’s for a different purpose.  Laughter.  And it meets that well.  That’s entertainment!

Hypnotherapy is for life change.  Your positive changes in behaviors, thoughts, feelings to improve your quality and experience of your time on planet earth.  Stage hypnosis and hypnotherapy:  same animal, different saddle.

If you’d like to learn more about hypnosis, please check out my videos on youtube:

Dumb and Dumber – Just Say NO to Weight Loss Surgery

Slicing and Dicing--Dumb!

Slicing and Dicing--Dumb!

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

I offer hypnosis services for weight management, and periodically I get asked questions about “bariatric hypnosis.”  I’d like to answer those questions here and explain why I believe it’s ill-conceived, not likely to be successful, and something that I would NEVER do to my clients in a million years.

“What is bariatric surgery?”  It’s a variety of invasive medical procedures that involve the slicing and dicing of the human body to artificially create a reduction in stomach capacity, fraught with all the pain, dangers, and complications of surgery, plus the aftermath of nausea, vomiting, dehydration and potential malnutrition, with dubious longevity or long term benefit.  What’s the point of all this?  To achieve weight loss.  (Hint:  there’s an easier way!)

The goal:  physically creating a situation wherein you’ll eat less–because you can’t physically  eat.  That removes choice, doesn’t it?  And it fails to address whatsoever the core unconscious issues that lead a person to obesity-inducing behaviors–those remain, even after surgery.  It doesn’t change feelings, thoughts, beliefs, it’s an artificial and unpleasant restriction on behavior.  I like choices for people.  What is bariatric surgery?  A limiting of choice and just plain dumb.

What would it be like if there were far simpler ways to achieve and maintain a healthy weight?  Ways that are pleasant, natural, non-intrusive, and encourage healthy choice?  That in addition make a person feel good, not just about their body, but their whole life??  Feelings of  high self esteem, accomplishment, power, joy, and so on?

Well, we’re all in luck, because there are such ways, when skillfully delivered.  They are called Hypnosis and NLP.  Neuro-Linguistic Programming (a specialized high-tech hypnosis, which is conversational in nature).  These things, when used with artistry and creativity and skill, lead a person to a healthy weight naturally.  With surgery, there are still cravings that are present yet denied due to artificial restrictions.  With hypnosis and NLP, there are no cravings period.  Gone.  Which sounds more appealing?  To me, that’s the definition of purgatory, wanting and wanting and being unable to have.  After bariatric surgery, suffering an eternity of feeling deprived?  NO, THANK YOU!  That’s like dieting.

Hypnosis is not dieting.  It’s life change.  Changing how you feel, and how you think, and what you do, and even what you believe to be true.  Changing your life.  In ways that are useful.  No scalpels required.

Unless you are a bariatric hypnotist.  Dumber.   A bariatric hypnotist chooses to engage in a process of hypnotic change work which involves the client undergoing the aforementioned bariatric procedures hypnotically, while in trance.  Trance is meant to be a pleasant experience, not something horrific!!  They have au de operating room, ether smells, and sound effects of  being cut open so that the person will experience it all as real, and the body respond accordingly.  This idea disturbs me greatly.  A true hypnotist (one who has had legitimate training and was paying attention and has a modicum of intelligence) has tools to help, that don’t create an artificial fix.  Bariatric hypnosis isn’t a “fix,” it’s another f-word, followed by an e-d.

The whole mindset around this “work” disturbs me.  The other day I got a mailing soliciting bariatric hypnotists.  The language appalled me.  It read:  “Calling All Hypnotists Seriously Interested in Helping The Morbidly Obese Client Rejoin The Human Race.”  Oh!!  Really?  Those with weight problems are not human?  What are they?  Aliens?  Hey, just a guess, but this does not sound like a compassionate or empathetic point of view.  I guess if you’re going to cut them open, it’s easier to do if you think of them as nonhuman.  Maybe it’s like dissecting lab rats.

Bariatric surgery?  Dangerous, dumb, dubiously effective, and not necessary for successful weight loss.  Hypnotic bariatric surgery?  In my opinion, that is exponentially dumber, and absolutely wrong-minded–what a waste of a powerful and positive tool for life change–hypnosis.  I KNOW how people successfully lose weight and maintain a healthy weight.  And I know that they don’t require surgery to do it.  Now…how do I know?

Because I’ve lived the transformation from fat to fit, and maintained it for 5 years.  Without being sliced open, in reality or in my unconscious mind.  Hypnosis and NLP, used properly, are all you need!  Here’s what I’ve accomplished:

Before and After.
Before and After.

And I help others to achieve and maintain a healthy weight as well.  Here are some comments from some of my successful  weight loss clients:

“I have been committed to lose weight for my health for years.  However, the actual first step was almost impossible.  So before I tried more radical methods, I thought I would try hypnosis.  Connie Brannan, and Mindworks Hypnosis worked wonders.  The day after my first session, new behaviors emerged and became habits.  The amazing thing is – it was so easy.

Late night cravings – gone.

Drinking 8 glasses of water/day – new habit.

 Portion control – easy.

A real desire for healthy foods – a new habit.

Feeling full with the right amount of food – a new feeling.

Neuro Linguistic Hypnosis works and fast.  I have been losing a consistent 2.5 pounds per week.  In the first six weeks, I’ve lost 18 pounds and counting.”  –Cynthia Sullivan, COO of a local Bellevue company,  Bellevue, WA  Update:  Cynthia has lost 50 pounds now!   🙂

“Hi Connie,
Just wanted to thank you again for your wonderful help.  I’ve lost 40# in 4 months, and I feel confident that I’m going to lose at least 40 more. It’s truly remarkable what a few easy sessions with you have done for my life.

As a health care worker, I’ve always known healthy diet and exercise were key to losing weight, but I never seemed motivated to seriously make those long term lifestyle changes.  I grew so obese that I even considered surgery. But the risks scared me, so I decided to try calling you instead.  Even after one session,  everything changed.  I found myself craving healthy foods, appropriate portions, and daily exercise.  My sweet tooth and chip obsession disappeared overnight.  My self esteem skyrocketted.  I finally knew I could conquer my lifelong struggle with my weight.  It’s been months since I’ve seen you and yet I’m still right on track with my goals.  Hypnosis is easy and it truly works.  You’ve changed my life.  Thank you!”  –E, Seattle, WA.

“The choices aren’t hard anymore.”   — Anonymous client, Duvall, WA.  (She lost 6 pounds in 2 weeks.)

“Thank you, Connie!  The work we have done together has truly changed my life.  I have found “my happy” and am now on the journey to a  stronger, slimmer, healthier me.” — Kelly, Renton, WA.

“I’ve lost 8 pounds in 12 days!”  –Don B., Issaquah, WA.

“It’s amazing!  I’ve lost 17 lbs in 3 weeks.  I’m happy!  I’m sleeping like a baby.  My stress level has decreased.  I’m making very healthy choices.  (Before my last session) I was dancing in the shower, couldn’t wait, eager to come see Connie.  She’s guided me to opening my gate to freedom.”   –Julie, Mercer Island, WA.

“I will have you know I’ve lost 30 lbs.  Girl, you are my absolute idol!”   –Lisa B.

“I’m not so glued to the food!”  Liz, Redmond, WA.

“I don’t crave ice cream at all now!  Or chocolate.  I am in shock!!!”– Saliha B., Issaquah, WA.

“Dear Connie:  Thank you so much for working with me to help me lose weight.  I had just one session, and the positive effects are nothing short of amazing!  The cravings that so plagued me are just gone!  I feel better and have more energy and just feel more positive since I am not constantly telling myself no.  I did not realize the energy I was expending either refusing certain foods, or feeling bad after having eaten them!  I cannot wait for our next session.  I wish I had found you earlier as I would have saved myself so much grief and disappointment.  Thank you for sharing this life altering experience with me.”   –Fondly, Monica Anderson, Bellevue, WA.

“I love hypnosis…my knee cracking, painful problem is GONE.  I feel a foot taller.  I feel thinner.  I feel lighter.  I feel like a superstar!…Go see Connie!  She’s magical!”   — Nicole, Seattle, WA.

“I’ve been loving the results and new freedoms from my first round of NLP:  10 pounds gone, much less stress in my life, and I’m saving a ton of money at the grocery store. Yay me! People have been asking me what’s up with the changes and I send them your way.”  — K. Dolan, Seattle, WA

“I experienced the most wonderful shift regarding my weight. You said something during the hypnosis that has allowed me to feel much more in touch with my true desires and beliefs about my weight. I feel the change and it has a wonderful ease about it.  So I just wanted to let you know and to tell you how much I appreciate your work!”   –C., Bellevue, WA

“I lost 4 pounds the first week since our hypnosis session!”   –Ms. J., Woodinville

“I’ve lost 3 pounds in the past week since our session.  I no longer feel the need to clean my plate.”   –Marilyn H., Seattle, WA.

“Thank you for working with me.  My eating habits have changed and I’m full much sooner.  I haven’t weighed myself, but I haven’t done that in years.  My clothes feel better!”  –Sheri Parker, Topeka KS

“I haven’t had a donut since I last saw you (3 weeks), which is a MIRACLE!!”   — Nichole L., Bellevue, WA

“It’s been 3-1/2 weeks, and I’ve eaten no junk food or candy!  None.  I’ve never done that before in my life!  I’m impressed!”   –Jeff J., Seattle, WA.

“I’ve lost 12 pounds!”  — Naomi V., Mercer Island.

“It’s amazing.  I’m such a different person from who I was.  I’m happy, confident, very positive.  People around me are noticing and commenting.  Best of all, I’m not so hard on myself, I’ve learned to say nice things to myself.  I’m so much happier.  I feel like I can do anything.”  —  K.J., Renton, WA.

“Connie, I can’t begin to thank you for the ways you’ve made things better for me. I originally sought out Mindworks as the result of a glowing recommendation from a trusted friend and health professional in an effort to curb my neurotic eating. Connie was wonderfully professional and patient with me even when I lost confidence in myself or the process. I was able to dramatically reduce my nervous/neurotic eating, let go of self-loathing thoughts, gain some peace with difficult parent relationships and feel so much more hopeful and positive about the direction in which I was headed. I absolutely plan to return to do a little more mental house-cleaning and have recommended her so several others.”  — Bree, Seattle, WA.

“I went to MindWorks for weight loss but ended up getting so much more out of my sessions with Connie. I have reduced stress, increased confidence and put past dysfunctional relationships in the past. Connie is a warm, caring, professional. The work we have done together has absolutely changed my life. I highly recommend Connie / MindWorks.”   –Kelly, Seattle, WA.

“I cannot even begin to say all I want to say about Connie and the work she does at Mindworks Hypnosis. I’ve worked with Connie on a couple different occasions, and she has changed my life completely.  I went to her for my lack of energy and enthusiasm for working out and losing weight. I’ve lost 50lbs and am now 10lbs from my goal!” –N, Seattle, WA.

“I was so happy to find Connie. Over the past 50 years I have spent thousands tracking down my constant, and health damaging weight problem. I talked until therapists felt we had gone as far as possible and still weighed over 250 pounds! (and growing) Three short treatments from Connie and I have been losing between 15 and 20 effortless, happy pounds a month. My Life has totally changed for the better. Folks don’t even recognize me from the back! She is a REAL LIVE miracle worker.” –GG, Redmond, WA.

I could go on…  Do you get the idea here?  Ethical hypnosis  performed by skilled and creative hypnotherapists and by credentialed, Licensed Practitioners and Master Practitioners  of NLP works for weight loss.  It’s natural, pleasant, non-intrusive, and makes your whole life better.  Why consider anything else?

C’mon Get Happy!

Who remembers David Cassidy?  The Partridge Family.  I sure do!  I had a crush on him when I was 13!  🙂   And I liked one song in particular.  “Hello, world, here’s a song that we’re singin’,  c’mon get happy!  A whole lotta lovin’ is what we’ll be bringin’,  we’ll make you happy!  We’ll make you happy.”

I like when people get happy.  Because when you feel good, you think different thoughts, and make different decisions which lead to more useful behaviors.  That shift in feeling and thinking is what I aim for in my work at Mindworks Hypnosis and NLP.  Here’s one recent bullseye!

I got a wonderful report today from a weight loss client.  In part, here is what she says:

“Thank you Connie!  The work we have done together has truly changed my life.  I have found “my happy” and am now on the journey to a  stronger, slimmer, healthier me. –Kelly”

Here’s what I say to that!  Yay!!  🙂  You go, Girl!  Because, Kelly is making these changes happen.  I’ve guided her to her internal resources which make her life better, and she’s taken them onboard, like grabbing a football and running for the goal line.

Perhaps it’s time for positive changes in your life, whether it’s weight loss, habit change, letting go of fear, or what have you, hypnosis is a tool that works!   I’m ready to help!

How Would You Rather Feel?

Dad and the fish

Dad and the Fish!

Hi, Hypno-Friends!

I have a photograph of my dad on my desk.  Here it is!  I’m sharing it.  This is my dad the day he caught a fish–and what a fish!– and won a salmon derby in Canada.  That’s a 70+ pound salmon!!  In my mind, it was the happiest moment of his life!

Now, of course I didn’t know my dad his ENTIRE life, I showed up when he was around 30.  But in my mind, it captures the essence of happy.  What do you think?  And, thanks to Kodak, it’s captured forever.  This moment in time.  Framed.  On my desk.  When I see it, I feel happy, too.

Kodak is cool.  Photography, allowing us to capture a moment in time visually, terrific.  Well, we have something inside us that does even more than that.  We have a wonderful ability to not just capture but recreate a moment in time as well.  It’s called “memory.”  And it’s not just visual.  Not just a picture.  It’s got the vibrancy of full-sensory LIFE.  Re-LIVING.  Our memories capture all of it, sensory rich full-bodied experiences, with movement, scent, taste, breath, energy, sound, emotion, thought, etc.  It’s all in there.  Captured in our minds and in our memories.

Guess what?  This is useful!!

Thoughts are attached to feelings.  Memory is attached to all of it.  If my dad were still alive, and I asked him to remember that moment,  that day he caught “the fish” (as it’s known in family lore), he would re-experience all that emotion you see in the picture in his body now.  Just as vividly and richly.  He would “get happy.”  Guess what?  This is useful!  🙂

Our unconscious minds (accessible more than we know) have stored the experience.  We can capture it again via memory and use it NOW.

One of the things I do for clients is create good feelings and capture them for specific contexts.  In a problem situation, I ask them:  “How would you rather feel?”  We can do that.  Capture and bring those good feelings to where they are useful.  If it’s fear, bring calm.  You can’t have both, fear and calm operating in your body at the same time.  If it’s tension, bring relaxed.  You can’t have both, tense and relaxed at the same time.  If it’s sad, bring some happy.  You can’t be both, sad and happy at the same time.  As the old song goes:  something’s gotta give!  It’s the negative, unwanted feeling which goes.  And the positive, desired feeling which stays.

That’s NLP.  Simple processes which make that happen.  So fast!

And when you change how you feel, you change how you think, and you change what you do.

Have you ever made soup “from scratch?”  Adding  and blending spices and seasonings, salt, pepper, oregano, what have you, and tasting, adding a little more of this, and tasting, a little more of that, and tasting, until it’s JUST RIGHT.  Alchemy happens, the flavors meld and merge in the pot into something brand new, something perfectly delicious.  Well, we can do the same thing with feelings.  Create new ones.  Good ones.

I do this with clients!  I’m a master chef and my spices are feelings, and I custom blend new, useful feelings for clients, feelings that advance them in new directions.  We even give these new feelings new names.  I’m often amused with the names my clients create for them.  Two recent examples:  girl’s resourceful new feeling a few days ago was called “Yay, me!” and man’s yesterday was “Quiet confidence with a smile.” I like both of those!!

What’s really useful is bringing these designer, resourceful feelings into life to change things.  That’s NLP.

It’s a simple process and enormously powerful.  To feel good, I mean.

Finding out how to feel good in ways and places you want to feel good is really, really easy.  Call me.

Warm Regards,

Connie Brannan, CHt., Master Hypnotist

Expand the Boundaries of Your Thinking.

Michael and I made a couple new videos tonight.  Here’s one.  I call this a “magic moment.”  It illustrates hypnosis without being about hypnosis.  🙂  Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to think outside the box.  Hypnosis allow you the ability to do just that, and create workable solutions to life’s challenges and dilemmas.

Warm Regards,

Learn Self Hypnosis @ Bellevue College

Want to sleep with strangers?  Wellll…here’s an opportunity to do just that, in a way that’s both safe and sensible.  In fact, it’s a good thing, a terrific thing.  To be 100% accurate, it’s not sleep, it just looks like it from the outside–it’s HYPNOSIS.  Who wants to learn how to use their own mind to create success?   Me!  Me!  Me!  Me!  Maybe you, too?  🙂

I’m teaching a continuing education course at Bellevue College which begins one week from tonight.  It’s called “Building Confidence & Self Esteem Through Self Hypnosis.”  Here is a pretty inexpensive way to taste and learn hypnosis.  I guide you (the students) to trance, and we set an instant trigger to return to that state.  When YOU want, on YOUR terms, for YOUR purposes.  It’s powerful.  It’s pleasant.  It’s amazing.  Come and learn!  We also learn well-forming goals so that they make sense for your life, and are attainable, truly attainable, and how to talk to the unconscious part of your mind.  Persuasive talk.  So cool!!!

What You Didn’t Know About Stage Hypnosis

Michael Brannan, Master Hypnotist & Licensed Trainer of NLP (tm)

Michael Brannan, Master Hypnotist & Licensed Trainer of NLP (tm)

by Guest Blogger, C. Michael Brannan, Master Hypnotist & Licensed Trainer of Neuro-Linguistic Programming ™.

Stage hypnosis shows have always been an important way to introduce hypnosis to the general public. Many hypnotherapists, if not most, received their first introduction to hypnosis through a stage hypnosis show. Connie herself was first introduced to hypnosis through a stage hypnosis show.

Connie’s initial reaction, like that of many, was “this can’t be real,” and “they’re all plants.”  That reaction is common because most of us are truly unaware of the power and role our unconscious minds play in each and every thing we do. In some cases, stage hypnotism evokes fear!

What’s really going on in a stage hypnosis show? How does what we see in a show relate to hypnotherapy? How does it relate to what we experience in ordinary life? Most people, including most hypnotherapists, haven’t realized yet that every phenomena experienced in hypnosis is experienced by everyone in their ordinary “waking” state!

I went to a hypnosis show yesterday presented as part of World Hypnotism Day (an event sponsored by the National Guild of Hypnotists, Washington State chapter). The response of most of the audience who were not hypnotherapists was one of fascination and interest. And the hypnotic phenomena are truly that.

The hypnotist performed a lot of skits, all displaying the power of the unconscious mind to control our bodies, to enter imaginative realms of fantasy and to access our minds in ways we perhaps didn’t know we could. Stage hypnosis shows are a powerful presentation of the power of the unconscious mind!

In one skit, the hypnotist created amnesia for the number 7, and had the participant then count the number of his fingers. The participant counted..1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9,10,11….have you always had 11 fingers? No, I only have 10 fingers. Anmesia can often be important. What if each time you wanted a cigarette, you simply forgot that you wanted one and continued with whatever you were doing? What if you simply forgot to eat all those unhealthy things that are keeping on those unwanted pounds?

And this experience is something we have in our ordinary life. You know that “tip of the tongue” phenomena? We know something, we know it perfectly, but just can’t get access to it at the moment. Students who study for tests and then “forget” what they learn during the test is common. They haven’t “forgotten” at all; they are just too nervous, anxious or something else to get access to the information. It’s easy to deal with: just give yourself a suggestion to remember, relax, and let your unconscious mind do its work.

xrayglassessmallThe unconscious mind is extraordinarily powerful. It can give or withhold conscious access to information at a mere suggestion. Suggest the number 7 is gone, and, boom, it’s gone. Suggest it’s back, and, boom, it’s back.

The flip side is that the unconscious mind can give access to much more information as well. Suggest to yourself that you will remember more, remember more clearly and you will.  In trance, people can recall vivid details and details thought long forgotten. With hypnosis, you can create states where that vivid recollection comes more quickly and more easily than you ever thought possible. And that can carry into your everyday life, allowing you to learn more, learn faster and remember what you’ve learned here.

When we say to ourselves things like “I can’t learn,” “I can’t remember” we are sabotaging ourselves. We are giving ourselves a suggestion, we are telling our unconscious minds to fail at learning, and to “forget.” And those suggestions can be just as effective as the hypnostist’s suggestion to “forget” the number 7. The unconscious is a humble servant–it will do what it is asked to do, so ask it to do things you want it to do.

“Get to Know Hypnosis,” More about World Hypnotism Day events this Jan 22nd.

Hi, guys!

As this event nears, the details are becoming more clear.  And I want to share them with YOU!  Because the more you know about hypnosis the more you can begin to realize your own power to have the life you want.  And that’s terrific!!

Here’s the venue.  Bellevue Coast Hotel.  It’s right off of NE 8th Street in Bellevue and the 405 freeway.  EASY to find.  Free parking.  It’s on Saturday, Jan 22.  It’s pretty much an “all-day” event, with a free continental breakfast beginning at 9:30 am and lots of free talks to attend in 3 different rooms (and paid talks if you want to learn more and I mean REALLY learn) and culminating in a free comedy hypnosis show.  Come on down.  See the show or BE the show.  We’re having a professional stage hypnotist from the Portland area come and entertain.  Her name is Debby Taylor, and she’s good!

There will be several free talks, and not just talks.  EXPERIENCES.  A chance to trance.  Get hypnotized by professionals.  For free.  Begin to stimulate your unconscious mind in that way, that leads to positive changes.  In my talk, it’s about healthy suggestions for weight loss.  Hypnotist Cheryl Chamberlain’s free talk will focus on smoking cessation.  Hypnotist Keith Livingston will offer a free self hypnosis training experience.  Michael, my husband, and the President of the organization hosting this event, the NGHWA (National Guild of Hypnotists, Washington State Chapter), will present some cool things you can learn and do right now “The Magic of Instant Change.”  His talk is NLP focused, and NLP is a highly specialized VERY cool high tech hypnosis.  Michael is also presenting a trance experience.  And there are more speakers!  All the info is here:  http://www.nghwa.org/World-Hypnotism-Day-2011.html.

I do hope you’ll come and “Get to Know Hypnosis.”  Hypnosis is worth knowing.
